anyone knows how I can get stock ROMS for china sets? i have a singapore set that i want to convert completely to simplified chinese, I have looked at hongkong roms, but they are all traditional chinese.
I am open to suggestions.
the reason why i am asking is the phone that i am lending to a friend, cant read english.
i tried using RUU_Leo_Dopod_CHS_1.70.706.0_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship.exe from shipped-roms.
but after flashing it says this firmware is not meant for this phone. please install the appro language etc etc etc.

You first need to unlock (Hard SPL/HSPL) your phone before you can flash ROMs from other regions.
You can find the HSPL info in this HD2 ROM Development forum.
Once you have done that, try flashing with the dopod rom again.
If that fails, there is a user contributed rom under Chucky's ROM/kitchen thread. Just find the thread and look in the first post for Miffry's CHS ChuckyROM.

the objective is i'm loaning my spare set hd2 to a friend. so the HD2 ideally is like the Hongkong ROM set, total chinese with minimal english except that i want simplified chinese.

yeah i downloaded it. I guess there is no stock CHS around huh? miffry's version is a GTX variant. i was hoping for a black/stock version.

looks like you stuck with a gtx themed rom
i tried installing some other themes over the gtx, but it got pretty messy.
as a last resort you may want to download chucky's kitchen and build a rom yourself without the gtx theme, but its pretty tricky, and i dont have the time or patience to fiddle with building a ROM.

It is NOT POSSIBLE to flash or replace the ROM on your device with a dumped rom. At the moment there is no portuguese ROM available.

Same thing here, I have a htc tytn with the portuguese rom (bought to TMN)! And I have some problems in my wireless connection when I connect to a wireless network that requires a certificate! ...... without the portuguese rom we are stuck.. because If anything goes wrong in the upgrade process we don't have any manner to downgrade to the original rom.. and by the way we loose the guarantee..

My Dad just returned from HK with a brand new device, but unfortunately, he didn't realise it was in Chinese. He tried to upgrade it to the WWE ROM, but it is now stuck in the "rainbow" screen and says USB or serial.
Searched the forums, but we're not sure how to get it back to the working Chinese version at the very least! Very disappointed- pls help!
first try to make a reset if it doesn't work make a hard reset or flash it with a dopod cht rom.

Thank God, with all the above help, I managed to at least get it back to the Chinese ROM. There doesn't appear to be any ROMs (English or otherwise) located on Dopod's HK website. I have emailed support and will see whether I get a reply.
IMEI-Check it to super CID. Do all flashing with no sim/sd in.
Then you can flash any Rom, including wm6.

Any future problems with the device if I unlock my U1000? This would be great if people could share their experiences. There are lots of threads here about changing language, but no one seems to have tried this...

Just go ahead and do it. Mine was Ameo Dutch. After Imei-check unlock I now have WWE or any rom I want. What future problems are you imagining?
I'm just thinking about the best thing for me to do.
Assuming Dopod doesn't do it for free (I doubt they will since it was our error), I might just go ahead and do it.
I just want to be in a position to take advantage of the WM6 upgrade whenever that is available. At this stage, with the CHT ROM, does it mean that if I do nothing and upgrade to the official WM6 when it is available, I will only be able to get the Chinese version?

I currently have a chinese version of HTC Dual Touch (Niki100) purchased in Hong Kong. From my understanding, it is not possible to flash the ROM to English version as it would brick it.
However, from this forum, I read about SSPL, USPl, HARDSPL etc.. Is this applicable for me in changing my unit from Chinese to English? I would really really appreciate anyone help.

regarding flashing ROM which one do I get? Ive looked over the forum.. there's HTC asiaWEE, original ROMs, dumped ROMS, nikeproject etc then do I also have to consider rom for 16 or 20 keys? Im rather confused despite looking at many threads~~

try the niki project ROM if you want WM6.1 or the touch surface ROM if you want WM6.0
16 or 20 keys ... not realy importent! all roms have both keyboard drivers!

I have a HTC TyTN in German, and I can make squad out of it cause I don't understand this language. (it was a gift btw)
Now I have gone trough the manuals and trough wiki but for a total beginner like my self a lot of this stuff is confusing. So here is my plead:
Can anyone put in a small manual how to convert this German speaking HTC TyTN in to nice and understandable English one
Now when I do the OK+POWER+Reset stuff this is what shows up on the screen:
HERM200

SPL 1.06
The Phone Info on the other side shows this mambo jumbo:
ROM-version: 1.18.257.2
ROM-datum: 07/22/06
Funkempfangerversion: 1.03.03.10 (told U is in German)
Protokoll-version: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM-version: 1.18.257.8003
Now keep in mind this is the only place that I have found that has this kind of info so go easy on me.

NBHUtil is just a tool that packs .NB into .NBH or extracts .NB from .NBH
the tweak is 2 patches actually. I got distracted, sorry for the delay regarding the ROM

At the time when my Kaiser is broken, my friend send me a Touch Cruise 09 from China. It is a special edition of Iolite custumized for China Unicom,officially called Dopod T4288. From the specs I found its major difference with the HTC T4242 model is that it does not support WiFi. Later on I flashed your hardspl on it and found it works great on flashing ROMs. But I got some trouble on using some ROMs, for example, for the official WWE ROM version 1.11.706.1, the ROM is flashed smoothly and bootup with no problem. But it can not pass by the customization process. It stuck at about 60%of progress bar on the customization screen after after already aligned screen.
My question is: Is this from the hardware variaty or is CID related?

wow, very interesting. not sure why that would be... maybe some driver issue. you'll need to cook a rom based on original stock ROM for Dopod T4288. to get stock ROM, see ROM update, if there is none yet, dump one from a stock phone.

Later on I found that I can use most of the custom ROMs here without sticking on the customization screen. Although the WiFi never works or shows up.But I don't use WiFi so much hence it does not matter.
Up to now I can not convince myself to start cooking a ROM. I know it's not difficult to cook a rom but it's not so easy to cook a perfect ROM. Just I can not sit in front of a computer hours after hours. Now that we have so many chefs here, I'd glad to use and test their ROMs.
I did dumped the ChinaUniCom stock ROM before flashing the first ROM, but it's after already flashed your HardSPL. The link of the dumped ROM is here:

So if you or any chef here have interest o look into the ROM, please. That ROM is dated end of April, maybe the latest stock ROM up to now and contains some special small apps. Please do tell me if anybody want to translate something from there, since it's CHS ROM.

I already had a SIM-unlocked HTC, but I purchased the unlocker so I could have my security unlocked, so I could flash another Radio.
However, that did not happen and I tried over and over again, ending up with the same error messafe: RSA Fail.
