Camera not available? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I originally had a x10a branded by rogers but i was stuck on R1FA014 firmware so I flashed generic x10i UK firmware and updated to R2BA020 a few days ago.
Today I saw rogers had released the new firmware so I flashed back to shipped R1FA014 using the decrypted roms from jerpelea's thread and repaired using PC companion.
Now I'm back on rogers with R2BA020 firmware for the x10a but when I loaded my camera is says camera not available? Did I screw up somewhere?
Much thanks for helping.
edit : just did repair once more and camera works

I had the same problem!
I saw in a thread that a camera with a blue arrow needs to show up, what haven't showed up in mine! Could be that?
I'll keep trying to solve, and if i get it, I'll post here.
but thread 825329 have a lot of awnsers about!

Has anyone managed to fix this issue yet?
A lot of people seem to have lost the camera functionality on their X10i but there does not seem to be any kind of fix for months now.
Thanks guys
Al

Rebranding X10a /w X10i firmware back to X10a

Hi guys,
I recently saw happyandy93's posting about being able to flash his X10a phone running X10i firmware back to using X10a firmware. Here's his reply when I asked him how us mere mortals can do fix this as well. I've not tried this yet, but I he says this should work and it worked for him apparently.

yeah np.
if you want to post this in a thread that'b great i don't have tha much time but i'll quickly let you know the steps.
so first thing first head over to this site,
http://www.omnius-server.com/news_omnius_v0_03
make an account for the software and once the software is installed add your account information under "settings > server settings".
now thats the first step, the second is to get the correct firmware in your case it'b this decrypted rom:
http://hotfile.com/dl/43225669/598add6/a_WWE_R1FA014_DEK.zip.html
once that is downloaded extract the phone.zip and the android_xx.zip from that archive into a place where you know you'll find it.
head back into the software, and select identify, than follow the instructions it gives you. once it is identified, boot the phone back up into android. than click flash, choose the two roms:
http://img203.imageshack.us/i/flashy.png/
phone.zip goes into the "application box" and the android_xx.zip goes into the cusomization file.
hope this all works for ya, if you have any problems let me know.
-andy.

I for one would like to see which method he is using. Ive tried some others with no luck thus far.

search the x10 general forum, the method to do it is in there somewhere. next time please do a search =\
You guys may not know, but the method that was already on the forum did not work, because the files that were provided are outdated now.
This is the new method that works to rebrand your X10 either to X10i or X10a original firmware.
Ya actually there are two previous methods and neither of them work anymore due too, from what i understand, the latest update to SEUS. However the second link for the dowload via hotfile on this method is dead. I get "Error 404". Would appreciate a reupload.

Fixed link. Sorry, I just copied and pasted it.
Thanks pally777. I will be rebranding and then debranding with the correct firmware in the next day or two. This method essentially wipes you phone clean and then reinstalls, rather flashes the generic x10a firmware....right?

That's how I understand it. I've started up the flashing tool and it looks pretty straight forward to use, but I've not done this yet.
There is a risk that it may not work, but then it seems Andy has gotten it to work and it seems the developers doing the rooting are also using this tool.
Xperia x10i firmware?
Hi!
Pls, could you tell me where can i get x10i decrypted rom firmware?
Thanks a lot!
You can download them in this forum in the decryted x10 roms thread.

Thank you soo much ! I had a X10i @ SO-01B and I can tell you it works flawlessly, you saved me money from going to a store and getting it fixed there !
Glad to hear it works! I will probably do this when the Android 2.1 comes out for our phone... otherwise, no point in me going back to X10a firmware for now.
Anyone who has done this, which files from the unziped Android and Phone zip files do you have to put into the Omnius application? Im assuming the .sin files are important, but what about the xml document file, update file, metadata movie file, and there is a .ta file in there too? Little more specifics before I attempt this please. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Ok it worked for me. After you're done and start up the phone for the first time it takes a while for it to get going there. I was getting a bit nervous (might have peed a little) but then it started up and ill have to admit I was glad to see the "Rogers" branded startup screen. Thanks happyandy and pally777. Most appreciated. Oh, and just get rid of all the panicy PM's I sent you
K. Now that ive successfully rebranded to x10a I get my rogers startup page and everything seems fine with the phone. However i was hoping to debrand again (with the right fw or course) but pc companion stops when trying to install the update service. I get an error. SEUS works fine however. Is it possible to debrand using SEUS instead of pc companion?
Glad to hear that everything works! I might do this when they release X10a Android 2.1, because I'm liking the X10i firmware for battery life. Hopefully, I can still follow this process then to re-brand!
As for debranding, I used SEUS and not PC Companion. If you follow the same method that Lollylost posted, it should work. Just that the folders you'll be putting the files in are found in the SEUS folder instead of the PC Companion folders.
Many thanks. I finally got to work and im happily debranded again with the newest X10a firmware. Thanks again for the help. One question though. When the 2.1 update is released will i be able to update now that i am debranded?

it can be done easily with flash / unbrick tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
also you can update to latest R1FB001 firmware
Yes thanks again for getting me off in the right direction Jerpelea. I have successfully flashed R1FB010 to my X10a and it seems to be running fine. had to add the APN settings manually but no problem. Just curious if you have any way of getting R2BA016 (released in China), or have heard of anyone using R2BA020? Some are talking about it on some other forums, although there is some speculation as to whether or not it actually exists. Just curious

im planning on rebranding my x10 back to x10a. if i use this method will it delete all my info and data? should i back up my data? how do i back up my phone? thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!

[Q] Orange Hero with 2.1

Sorry maybe a silly question, this is doing my head in.
Had my Hero for 8 months or so, i rooted it, and often flash diffrent ROMS. Problem is i damaged my Hero, and Orange replaced it free of charge. Just the new phone came with Android 2.1 all ready on it.
Is there any way of rooting this phone, and Flashing new ROMS, as i really want to try some 2.2 roms. Nothing seems to work.
Phone info

[Q] No mobile signal with gingerbread. any help?

Sorry, if somebody posted info about it but I couldn't find anything.
I've uploaded X10i_2.3.1-TripNRaVeR which is stable unfortunately I don't have any signal - both network nor wi-fi. Has anybody had similar problem? If yes, how to make it work? I'm not an IT geek unfortunately so I'm kind of stuck
Oh, I'm on Vodafone UK.
Will be grateful for any tips!!!
Um yeah that's so old try J's gingerbread build but if your gonna be on that rom check your bassband
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
That's the problem. I have unknown baseband! How can I choose one and what's the right one?

you will need to read the thread that the rom came from. jerpelea's 2.3 rom is using a customised .52 baseband file - maybe it will work but i am unsure.
the original thread from tripnraver will tell you which bb you need.
Can't wait to check this rom. I've read the tripnaver threat and the outcome is rather disappointing - nothing's released but at least I've learned bit more. Thanks a lot, mrtim!
For anyone who's got same problem - I've ended up uploading 2.2.1 by tripnraver (kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #1) to my mobile and it works perfectly fine - radio, wi-fi, market, etc. Haven't tried camera yet but I'm really pleased. So if anybody's having same problems as I had - try it!

[Q] Front Camera warning --> FC

Hi everyone!
I need some help, been searching for an answer for days now.
The problem is that when i try to use the front camera, a warning appears and it force closes. Like "Warning the camera doesnt work" then i press OK and it FC.
Im on stock gingerbread 2.3.5 and i recently rooted the phone, The problem was there before it got rooted,so thats not the problem.
I saw a thread regarding updating the camera firmware, but didnt dare to. The rear camera still works so i dont wanna damage the phone even more.
Cam FW ver : SCEF02
Phone FW ver: TBEC28.
What happens if i update the firmware? Downloaded the APK from the first post in the thread there.
I tried Factory Reset, reboot, deleting the camera app data, tried Vignette demo and stock camera app, but no dice.
Help!
Thanks a bunch!
Why not update to ICS or flash a custom rom?
Re: [Q] Front Camera warning --> FC
Before you try different firmware, dump your current one using the option in the menu you get when you use the dialer (cant remember the number).
Then you can get the original firmware back if needed. There is a thread in the general section with camera firmwares to try.
{go back to your iphone since you are an android noob}

So i've updated the firmware to:
Cam FW Ver: SCEE09
Phone FW Ver : TBEC28
with no luck, the front camera still wont work.
When I press Phone to CAM FW write, i get my FW version, but the header says Invalid version. It did say that before the update aswell.
Anyone got a clue why? What does it say when you do the same? The number is *#34971539#.
Re: [Q] Front Camera warning --> FC
Maybe thats just for the rear camera and the kernels the problem for the front one.Dont know if theres a test in one of the samsung menus you could try.
Have you tried what theathiest advised to eliminate a software problem.

Will get in to that. Does anyone know if theres some kind of trick to test if the front camera is a bust?
Havent tried to switch rom yet.
As an android noob, i rather not get in to it. Read something about an insane chip that i sadly have. I also read that changing rom wouldnt help because the camera fw is outside it. Correct me if im wrong please.
I reflashed my dump file so now the cam fw and phone fw match, they're both SCEF02. Strange?
Front camera still wont work though!
Bump!
Finally, I've updated to stock JB, but still no luck.
The front camera wont work!
Any ideas?
Has anyone come across this problem lately and got a solution?
Thanks!
I have the same problem with my front camera, and i have no idea what to do
