BeHero + v1.2 Rom on an Orange - HELP please - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have a BeHero + v1.2 Rom on an Orange unlocked phone. Can you guys please tell me your opinions about this one, good & bad points, and if there are better Roms to choose. I'm a bit new to this, and trying to find my way around.
Thank you.

Get yourself a proper 2.1 release for the Hero. BeHero is ported from another device.
You can choose between Kimera 1.8, VillainRom 12, Cronos 2.0 and some others.

Hi, What do you mean from another device, and are Kimera 1.8, VillainRom 12, Cronos 2.0, alternative Hero Roms for Orange unlocked phone, and all 2.1 android? Thanks,

I would say VR12 is the best right now but thats just my opinion

Yes you can use Kimera, Villain or Cronos,... Or any other ROM from this section. As long as it is for GSM HERO you are ok.
I think BeHero is ported from the HTC Legend maybe, or Eris?... but anyway, the newer ROMs in this section are made from an actual Android 2.1 ROM made for our Heros, not a port from another device.
EDIT... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST IN GENERAL or Q&A NEXT TIME!!!!!!

It means that Behero was designed for the Droid Eris and was customized to run on the Hero.

Be nice please. We all started off not knowing much.

Yes, I am trying to learn. Rankjie was obvioulsy born with this knowledge and did not have to learn.
Thanks for the info about which Roms, so many to choose from. one more thing, I am reading that many drain the battery quickly. Any ideas on one which does not, as nobody wants to charge every single day if it can be avoided.

roms based on the old leaked 2.1 kernel drains much more battery than roms based on the new 2.1 kernel, hoewer most 2.1 roms use the new version so unless you pick an old rom you should be ok, I would reccomend villainrom 12, it is fast, energy efficient and has a lot of cool features.

Moved as not development.

What ROM are people using?

Well, I don't know how to make a voting poll, but could someone do that?
There are a lot of ROM's out there, people are testing everything, and it would be nice to know what people might think of the different ones. I just cant figure out what to choose, there is just too many of'em
Two different polls for 1.5 vs 2.1 ROM's would be nice
And if there already is some voting sites out there, please direct me to them
Thanks in advance!
I use the 1.5 sensehero Rom. I use 1.5 find currently, cause I can't imagine my hero without a proper overclocked kernel
Does the development section just scream please ask a question??? Or is the Questions & Answers section invisible to everyone but me?
Oh sorry, will post it there instead. Thanks for the heads up

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
I have Androbin 1.1111 r3 and Kimera 1.8 with custom overclock kernel
I am absolutely not interested in Slide ROMs...
SENSE HERO 2.2 it's beautiful :>
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A
May I remind all to use the Q&A forum for all questions...its what its for
I've tried really everything there is, and my results are as follows (i don't like vanilla roms, because IMHO Sense is so much beatiful and useful, so i'm listing only SENSE roms):
- for 1.5 roms: Modaco 1.5 with Black-Eclair 1.4 theme is the most stable and for me the fastest rom and also looks good. Plus everything (i mean really everything works), i also like senseHERO 1.6, which is very beatiful, but not as fast and with some small problems. Both have brilliant battery life (2-3 days).
- for 2.1 roms: Villain is nice, because it has the best support, multiple skins, OTA and all the 2.1 features included actually work (News widget, Friendstream,...), but in my opinion is stil a bit slugish, and because it's a cdma port it has all the problems that come with that (split SMS, can't hide SIM contacts, MMS not working properlly, battery usage, GPS problems, random slowdowns....). I come to see that i can't use it in everyday life yet. SenseHERO 2.2 is basicaly the same rom, because it's based on a same CDMA leak - so same problems, same speed, same battery usage (20 hours max). MyTouch slide ports look nice, but i hate random slowdowns that come with it, and also CDMA stuff mentioned before. The best 2.1 ROM out there (again IMHO) is BeHero+ 1.2. It's the fastest, and because it's not based on CDMA there is no problems as described before (SMS works, MMS works,....) plus it has the best battery life.
To conclude: Before we get official 2.1 rom, 1.5 roms are still better for everyday use, because there are no problems, better battery life and they are much faster (don't believe people that say that Villain is as fast as 1.5, because that is absolutely not true - forget benchmarks, use it for two day and see that this is not near the truth). If you really want 2.1, then: for everyday use try BeHero+. If you are flashing junkie than Villain is for you. If you want beauty use SenseHERO, and if you want something differnet use Slide ports.

[Q] Which Android build is best for everyday use?

Hi. I love use Android on my HD2 and got a question
Which Android build is best for everyday use? (I mean build witch Sense like on HTC Desire).
Now I'm using ChuckyROM GTX Lite + Radio 2.10.50.28.2 + HSPL 2 1.66 + ANDROID BUILT from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756491
Thanks for any help
darkstone is pretty good or mattc.. just play with it
I tried almost all the different builds and the current one seems to be the most stable and usable build for me: mdeejay Froyo Sense v2.1a + michyprima r11. I am using HSPL 2.08 and my radio is 2.12.50 and WM rom is Asia WWE stock. I've used it for 3 days consecutively, including charging the battery 2 times of course. No screen freezes (I disabled the g sensor), no SOD, 1% idle battery drain per hour (using conservative govenor). Love it :-D
I think someone creates a thread asking this same exact question like once a week. The answer stays the same... everyone will always have a different opinion. The best way to do it is to try them until you find one YOU like.
It´s like asking whats better, meat or fish!
If u like them both its personally up to u to decide.
What I would say is, keep ur apps backed up and experiment, the devs here are great!

agree, for me simple and speed are the most important, build with sense will never be my favorite
currently using CM6 based build, comparing with any sense ROM, the speed is really super.
mccm v1.5 vbnrom rc2.1 radio 2.10.50.26
best for daily use. very very good battery life with setup cpu!

sense rom

hi could someone please tell me which sense rom to use on my hero as there is just so much to choose from im sure all are good but I would like the best out of the available ones please thanks , im currently using elinux froyo 2.2.1
Well, first of all this should be posted in the Q&A section, but VillainROM 12 is prob your best bet for all round stability and performance. It's based on 2.1 though so bare that in mind as you are coming from a Froyo 2.2 build.
It's been a while since I used a Sense ROM (got addicted to 2.2 stock) but the best was VillainRom12 or MoDaCo. There are ports of Sense for 2.2 around, but as far as I know they all have hardware issues (such as camera or wi-fi not working).

[Q] Almost ashamed to ask, but what are the "top" ROM's?

I browsed through the development section and there is SO MUCH STUFF THERE. :/
Even if I read it all I would still not really get a good answer to my question:
What are the most popular, consistently maintained and stable ROM's out there that aren't heavily themed (I like AOSP or close, not MIUI)?
I've used CyanogenMod on my Nexus but it's still in experimental phase for SG2 and I don't really want to start off my new uberphone with broken stuff.
So far from what I've gathered is that Villainrom is at least consistently maintained, but their website is almost devoid of any information in regards to looks and features.
Batista70(?) also sounds like a relatively popular choice?
I realize this sounds like a completely idiotic question from someone that's too lazy to read, but honestly to answer this question you can't just read for a few hours, you need to have been around the community for a longer time to get the feel of everything.

You are correct if you want an honest opinion look yourself try them their are a billion users asking the same question with the same answer their is no best rom .
Why not start with the simplest rom that you understand what's on it and how to flash it .
Then work your way through others .
jje
Atm, i think the best roms (no one over the other, they all good the same)
Batista70 Foxhoud 2.0
Villainrom 3.0
Leomar 2.7
those are the roms i personally tested, and looks like also the most "used" by the community.
Im sorry if i didnt listed someone else rom, it's only because i didnt tested personally.
All the 3 are KI3 (2.3.5) based, so they may have few bugs/instability since 2.3.5 is less than 1 week old.
For the KH3 (2.3.4) every rom is very stable and works fine, i personally tested:
Cognition 1.5.1
Lite'ning 6.1
Checkrom v3
If you want a not perfect (few bugs) but totally different rom, i suggest you to try gangsterjoop Miui 1.9.23 or Galnet Miui 1.9.23

That was actually more a roll of the eyes to this type of question. It gets answers like yours (no offence meant) where people just tell you what they use. Not many people have done extensive testing of every single available ROM, but people still keep asking these lame questions.
Also 'best' is very personal, unless one gives certain criteria.
I agree I'm new here and the selection is daunting. I've HAD,
HTC Tattoo
HTC Desire
ZTE Blade
Moto Defy
HTC HD2
Sony X10
This phones section seems even bigger than the HD2 forum!
Ephumuris
the best rom out there with regarding battery life and looks is..................
the one that will suit your needs and that YOU have to find out and experiment buddy.
its all good for us to tell you which one is good but unless you dont try for yourself you wont know..
but if you want a choice i recommend VillainRom or Batista two that i use back and forth or even CheckRom
but whatever you do make sure you read through each roms thread and take it from there...happy flashing

What about us casual users?

What advanced knowledge of this platform, I find digging thru this forum an impossibility. I have a Samsung Vibrant with stock FroYo 2.2 and am suffering terrible lag. It's beyond me why this is allowed to continue by the vendor.
So if I want a new ROM and/or Kernel to fix the major lag problem, I'm left wondering which is the best.
Well you kinda have to decide which type of rom that you'd want to try to use. If you want the stock rom I recommend installing the Bali kernel...it's fixed a lot of issues and gives great speed and battery life which is what I'm using.
Hopefully, you have rooted your phone before doing anything.
Bali Kernel Rocks for Froyo.
You can even try CM7 or MIUI Gingerbread ROMs.
We stopped relying on Samsung ages ago for providing any further updates.
If you want the best experience from your phone, you're going to have to take risks. But its nothing since this phone is technically "brickproof". Try installing a ROM besides Froyo, like GB or maybe a ROM that's Froyo but with different themes and tweaks, I just can't use stock 2.2 anymore lol.
Stupid Samsung and TMobile don't give a rat's a$$ about our phones or the Lag, and once they announced there will be no GB release, many devs have disappeared (though there are some new ones who inherited phones showing up now too )
For your first custom ROM...I wouldn't go with GB - it's not for beginners.
For 2.2 without the lag and some extra tweaks, try Project V - but there are lots of great ROMs out there that will help you ditch the Lag + a whole lot more. I know people who are still running Nero and Axura without problems - so you can probably just find a rom - look at the release date, and start reading the forum posts after that date. There's plenty in the noob stickies about how to root, most ROMs still provide install instructions.
Though - there are things like update of the Market, etc. - that you will need to allow extra time for during your "settling" periods...
i agree with the poster above, root your device and flash the bali 1.8.6 capped kernel. that'll convert your file system to ext4 and you'll be rocking. no need for the custom roms unless you're really adventurous.
While there is no need for custom roms I still think that you should try bionix 1.3.1 or project-v by edt both froyo roms to get a taste of what we in the vibrant community have and appreciate everyday
Bionix 1.3.1 has countless themes and project-v is by far imho the best 2.2 rom with the best speed and battery life and its always been what I fall back on when gb gives me problems. Also flash the trigger theme with it, it'll look better and bali kernel for battery

When did they announce there would be no more updates for the Vibrant. I don't remember hearing anything about that. I've given up hope that there will be, but I haven't heard anything officially.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
For a first rom I would suggest something form sombionix. He was the best dev ever on this platform, and the roms are pretty much stupid proof, and more reliable than stock. anything from nero v3 to bionix 1.3 are all solid. You just need to take the way back machine and look as far back as 2009 to find them. Though his last rom thread keeps getting bumped as its just amazing and everyone keeps using it.

Well...since I only have it based on what I've seen/heard here, I should rephrase:
"Once whatever event, whether official or otherwise, occurred that caused some devs and other XDA members to commonly believe that there won't ever be an official GB release for the Vibrant..."
If you wanna stay on Froyo go for Trigger 3.3, it's perfection.

First off wrong place to be posting this. It belongs in the Q&A thread. Personal pref. but i would go with stable cm7 with the latest HL Glitch kernel.

take a look at the Vibrant Bible:

you will find links and all kind of good and useful information about this fantastic phone.
I flash a rom almost every other day and in my honest opinion bionix roms are the most stable and perfect daily driver roms period! Make sure you educate yourself before doing anything and also have the nescesary software to save your ass in case you F-up.
