Want to change my ROM to HTC Original - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HTC HD2 from T-Mobile USA. Now, I dont want that T-mobile customization including the "Stick Together" start up screen. I think I can do a ROM installation.
Also, I have SPL installed. Is there anyway to install a HTC Original ROM without installing HSPL ?
I need a latest HTC Original ROM to flash my device. Also, I need HTC Sense in it.
Can anybody give me the link to download the latest version of this?
Also, how can I take a backup of full phone to restore, if it didnt work?

Can anybody help me?

it's good that you couldn't find an original rom, because IT WILL DESTROY YOUR PHONE.
your phone cannot take ANY official roms except the tmo us official roms.
the radio in all other officiall roms is not compatible with the tmous, and your phone will never work again.
you can change the stick together screen without changing rom, but you do need hspl3 to do it.

Search for Stock ROMs in the forum and you will find HTC ROMs. You can also get it on HTC website.
You won't be able to change ROM without installing HSPL.
The stock ROM comes with HTC sense.
You can use various backup options including PIMbackup (for msgs and calls and stuff), SPBbackup for full backup including registry settings and stuff.

BUT as sam said above, a STOCK HTC ROM will kill the TMOUS HD2 due to the radio , it will brick it most likely.
So You do not Want a STOCK HTC ROM on a TMOUS HD2 ...

i repeat ......

Thank you guys. Now I have installed HSPL3. I hope I am now safe to install any custom ROM.
I am looking for a custom ROM.
Also, whether the Android 2.2 ROM available for HTC HD2(T-Moible USA)?

no, not 'any' custom rom, only roms that say 'tmous compatible'
Do you know you are in the 'regular hd2' section?
You should go to THIS forum instead.

Thank you.

New owner of HTC Hero with a couple of questions

Hi,
I just bought an HTC Hero off eBay today (still waiting for it) and it comes from T-Mobile but it's unlocked. However, I'm looking at debranding the phone and I want to install the original HTC ROM's instead of T-Mobile's.
I've been reading these forums and there are original HTC ROM's, original HTC but rooted ROM's, custom ROM's and etc... I'm not interested in the custom ones at the moment, I just want to get the original stuff for now, but without the T-Mobile branding. Also, this way, I can always be updated with the latest changes from HTC.
As far as I understand this, I'll have to root it at least once to install a new ROM right? And after that, maybe I should install the generic but rooted HTC ROM so that in the future I have the phone rooted already and everything's easier, correct? Is this the recommend approach or should I install the latest original and untouched HTC ROM?
For now I don't see many benefits from rooting the phone, and I think I just want to make things easier by using the original HTC ROM so that in the future I can use HTC own utilities (RUU I believe) to update the phone. In other others, I'm waiting eagerly for HTC update with Android 2.0 and I just want be able to install it directly from HTC when it comes out. I'll deal with rooting and custom firmwares later if I really see the need.
So, what's the best procedure to install the latest generic HTC ROM?

[Q] Flashing New Radio

I just purchased a 512Leo Hd2, unbranded SPL 1.42. Now this site has been an amazing resource. I have been thinking about flashing a new ROM but I'm not sure about it yet. To tell you the truth I don't really mind the stock HTC ROM. However, I'm dying to run Android 2.2, problem being is that my radio version is 2.06.51.07 now from what I understand that version won't allow me to run Android. And I've tried it, Linux starts to load and either it freezes or the screen slowly blacks out. I've tried the formatting and it doesn't work. So my ? is this. After running HSPL, also don't know which one to run 1,2 or 3?, will the stock ROM still be there? IN which case I can then go ahead ad flash a radio version that will allow me to run Android? Or do I have to find a stock ROM from somewhere and load that? Can I save the ROM version that is on my phone now then reload it? How do I do that? If someone c an fill these blanks in for me I'd appreciate it!
Cheers

Flashing HSPL will do absolutely nothing to your ROM. It simply unlocks the phones SPL and allows the flashing of non-branded or unofficial ROMs.
More about HSPL 1&2 and HSPL 3
Which one you need depends on your device. I think HSPL3 might work for all but to be honest I've never bothered to look at it since I have HSPL2 and it works for me.

Yes you can. One of THESE will do the trick.

Android works perfectly for me on my stock ROM with radio 2.12.50 For some people, the stock ROM does not work so the short answer is: "it depends". I say try a new radio ROM, leave the stock ROM alone and see if it works. If not, then look into flashing a custom ROM also. As for saving your current ROM, that's a bit more tricky, and more trouble than it's worth since you can find pretty much all the stock roms in the rom development threads such as THIS one.
If you have any other questions or need more clarification ask away (or PM me).
One more thing about flashing ROMS... Use caution and ask questions if you are unsure about something. Make sure you read and understand the threads dedicated to flashing in the links provided... Otherwise, you will have an expensive paper weight on your hands.

Hi!
I've been reading all your posts and i have a similar problem with my Leo.
I'm new at this so i am affraid to, like you said, have an "expensive paper weight".
I tried running the "FLASHAHOLIC RUU.." via USB but it keeps hanging while running task29. I then tried the official HTC web site but i doesnt work either.
I baght my device on amazon so it comes with WWE and o want to change it to Portuguese specially because of some keybord letters like "ç" for example.
Can you please give me a step by step guide so i can instal a new rom?
Thanks in advance.

if you have compatible Radio version on your device you don't need to use this Rom Update to get Android!
If not yes you can use this rom, but way you will use a stock rom is Custom rom can give you even access on WM 6.5.X instead of the older WM 6.5!?

[Q] Reverting the Hero back to stock ROM - Help needed

Hi everyone.
I have searched both the forums and Google trying to find a method on how to revert the phone back to a stock HTC ROM. Before anyone thinks that I'm crazy, the reason I want to do this is because I'm selling the phone and not everyone might love the idea that it has been "tampered" with.
I've downloaded the latest RUU found in these forums (WWE version), but as this is an exe file I'm not sure how to go about installing it as the custom ROMs I've used have been in a .zip format. Any advice?
You are meant to install it using HTC Sync, and running the RUU on your PC. Unfortunately there is no ZIP currently available, which is a shame because I am in your situation, and the RUU doesn't work for me!

No really in topic but I can ask you where you find the latest RUU (2.1) for GSM Hero? Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, the link is in jarscrew post!
Is it imperative to make a goldcard? Can I mess up if I don't or will it simply not work without?

virgin flasher looking for advice

Hey there all, long time lurker here and just decided to create an account. I've just switched from the ever failing Symbian and bought myself an HD2 because of its well... Greatness, and ability to have so many OS on it
So I bought the device used, the TMOBILE version, and I've had plenty of time to play around with it for the time being.
My OS is 5.2.2193 (21913.5.0.94)
Manilla : 2.5.20181424.0
ROM version: 3.14.531.1 (04666) WWE
Radio: 2.15.50.14
I've just flashed HSPL 2.08 and that is about as far as i have gone.... being skeptical moving on to the next step, as I don't want to brick my phone. I've read things about the radio compatibility about some builds, and didn't want to risk turning my phone into a paperweight
Okay, so if you have read this far on about my ramblings then thank you!!
My goal is to flash one of the many android ROMs. The sd card that came with the phone is 16gb, and also my sd card is already formatted to fat32.
I'm trying to following one of the guides into flashing an android rom and it is recommending me that I install an upgraded wm6.5 first to improve the performance of android roms? If I am understanding this right I should be looking for a rom that that is not too heavily customized, using only all the basic functions right?
I was looking through the ROMS, and would like to try out NRGZ stock sense Energy build. I click the download link with the U.S. flag and it links me to a page with a few download links. I'm not too sure which one to download or all of them?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
Here's the link to NRGZ rom site, and I'm looking at the 3rd post the download link right under where it says "Reference"
Is this the best Rom I should be using or is there any other recommendations from some other veterans out there?
Hi rawsx glad you decided to become a member, so let me welcome you to XDA.
Either one of the ROMs I have listed below are the ones you want to download out of the list of ROMs that come up after you click on the download link.At least I think so rom the info in your post.

I think you are wanting to use a SD card also and not a NAND Andriod ROM cause you metioned your SD card and that it is recomended to flash a bare bones custom ROM. A NAND Andriod ROM would totally wipe Windows Mobile from your phone so this would be pointless if you were going NAND.
Also you mentioned radio compatibility and yes this is very true. The T-Mobile HD2 can not use all radios. If the radio has a 50 in the third set of numbers like this one here 2.15.50.14 then you are good. Do not flash any radio version tbat has a 51 in the tbird set of numbers. And also do not flash any radio that has these numbers 2.04.50.xx or 2.05.50.xx. These and the 51 radios will brick/kill your T-Mobile HD2.
