if it is a .cab , do not open it on the pc, just copy it to the device and run it with file explorer ...

Plug in the usb cable, open my computer, open up the phone and copy it there ...
Storage card is preferable ....

ok, plug it in, goto my computer and double click the ICON ...
Just more or less like copying files to a usb drive ...
But the file is not been unzipped if i un zip it goe's into loads of bits

A CAB file does not need opening.
You transfer it to your phone either by USB lead or by Bluetooth,
once it is transferred,open up File Explorer and navigate to where ever
it has been transferred to,and click it,the rest should be self explanatory
it will ask you where you want to store the new program to,select
Storage card.
Once that is completed go back to the CAB file and delete it is no longer
required and is just taking up space on the phone.

Been watching videos on how to install too but my icons are folders with the letter 'C' on them

im trying to install TT6 (6.03) but when i install the sd card i get the folowing error "the file autorun cannot be opened.Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found.If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring file.

you have copied the tomtom.exe in \progrm files\ that's right? you must copy as a shortcut...

ut the prog is in sd? if in sd you have \program files\navigator try this: copy as shortcut tomtom.exe in device\windows\start menu\programs...

There is no tomtom.exe because it is NOT installed yet !

try to make the last update for tt6 on your card with tomom home
You shouldn't delete the 2577 folder, that's the one with the ttn.cab file in it. And that file is your installation file!
If it doesn't start on autorun, just go to the ttn.cab manually with file-explorer and start it by tapping. Succes!

Its solved...reflashed the rom and now it works like a charm

I'm rather new to these kind of devices so please excuse the ignorance.
I have an XDA Atom Exec, I upgraded to WM6 with this site successfully.
I also would like to install HTC Home and Customizer as I like the big clock and icons, however I can't seem to find instructions on how to install them. I tried using the search function but nothing came up.
Can someone explain it to me please? Thank you.
Have you downloaded the cab files for HTC HOME and CUSTOMISER , if so just go copy them to your phone and then navigate from the file explorer of the phone to where you have pasted , and run (tap) Hope this helps.......

I think the problem is that I can't run the "setup". It opens in Internet explorer just like on my PC, I downloaded another copy from Carty's site and the same thing happens. Do I need a special program to open the setup XML file?

describe in steps how you did your installation. we don't usually deal with xml files for installation.

Well after downloading the zip file to my PC, I unzipped it in a created folder.
Sync'd my atom exec with the PC.
Opened File Explorer from ActiveSync, opened Program files on Atom Exec and just moved created folder with unzipped file into Atom.
After opened the created file from within the device and click "setup" with the stylus.
It opens up Internet Explorer and I can only view it as a document of some sort.
Hope that makes sense
No mate , you dont have to ZIP it (you are actually zipping the cab file which runs directly on the ppc , copy the .cab file without zipping it to your PC and then run ..)

if you will list the contents of your zip file, that would be helpful. we don't normally copy files to program files for installation.
Thank you everyone... the problem was exactly what udayrulz was describing. I merely had to just move the file over to the device and click it, instead of unzipping, create a folder etc.

Ok so idk if im exactly supposed to post this here and im sorry if its the wrong place, but whenever i transfer a theme onto my phone, its in my SD card, i unplug my phone from my computer, go into my SD card folder and i cant open any of it, like its a bunch of separate files for example: "_SETUP" "0CABEAE0" and so on, but i cant open any of them to install the theme onto my phone, like they all have the windows icon for their thumbnail, anyone have a tutorial or solution to fix this, and i dont know what model my hd2 is, i got it at the end of may, so idk if that will help at all and i bought it from t mobile.

the themes you are downloading come in a ".cab" which it sounds like you are unzipping. do not do this.
simply download the .cab. move the cab onto your phone and click it to run it.
Yeah i know i need a .cab file but the only problem is, whenever i download something on this site its not a .cab file.... its usually like a xml file

May I ask witch theme you will?? I mean I have past a lot of time here on xda; and mostly (90%) of the theme installation are cab files. Maybe there is a other problem.
I think i may of fixed the problem, im downloading the themes straight from my hd2 and it gives me the cab file, but i dont exactly know all the themes that I downloaded, lets just say it was a bunch.

You have different way sir;
A) you transfer the cab file to SD and navigate with your mobile device to the cab file, press on it and install (select always internal memory as installation path fore themes)
B) You unpacked the cab file (by using a cab program; don't extract cabs with Winrar/Winzip/7Zip, it will not work) in a folder somewhere on your PC; and you use CFC-GUI fore trans-fair it to your device.

-Freeware; Cabwiz, QuickCab 1.0

I have my Onda V972 for about a year now and it works great but since yesterday I cannot make new folders or copy other folders to my internal sdcard.
I was working with "Ofline Browser" and on a given moment he just stopped copying webpages and said "Cannot find .....".
I checked the r/w permissions with ES File Explorer and all is well.
I can make a new file or copy one to an existing folder but I cannot make new folders or subfolders.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

Yes, I tried several file managers.
I can make new folders on it from the PC.
Just to be clear: It is about my internal sdcard, my external sdcard works fine!

Yes I am sure, it just happened without a reason.
The stupid thing is that everything works fine but when an app tries to make a new folder or subfolder it says that it can't find the file.
Thats because he couldn't make the folder.

I was considering this but I couldn't make a copy or backup from this disk so I would loose everything on it.
Finally after a few days trying I managed to connect to the PC and I simply repaired the disk from within Explorer.
All works well again now.

If only you could press the "Thanks" button located under my post I would be better than happy .
So, my brother backed up my Samsung Galaxy S4 on his laptop about 3 years ago. Can't remember the program used. He gave me the backup file yesterday.
(I screenshotted the file name and attached it here titled " FILE BACKUP TITLE.PNG")
I edited the file, to a .exe. (eg “Samsung SM-G350E_20191001_103009.bak” delete the bak and write exe after the dot and press enter.) That way I can access everything through winrar. However all of the files are encrypted! We have no idea what the password is, what shall I do! (Attached the password screen in winrar titled " RAR.PNG")
It has 1000's of photos from 2014-2017, I have no idea on what to do. I've checked out brute forcing, but I wasn't sure how to do it.
