Rooted Droid Eris E: can't find update script - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I keep getting this message after I sign the .zip ROM and try to install it. When trying to install it it says:
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
E:Can't find update script
Installation aborted.
And in the background when its verifying, it gets about 3/4 the way through and runs to the problem.
I've tried placing the update_script in many different areas and I've tried to delete the META-INF files to avert confusion for signatures, but I just cannot figure it out.

[Q] [Q-FLyer] Unable to flash add-ons

I recently purchased a Flyer 3G and have successfully set S-OFF using this guide [GUIDE][Flyer+View]Gingerbread S-OFF/Recovery/Permaroot and flashed with [ROM]LeeDrOiD GB V2.2.0 [KERNEL]LeeDrOiD V3.1.0 |17th Dec|FAST|STABLE|WIFI/3G|APM.
Apart from a few bootloops occuring everything is fine. What I wanted to do next was to apply some of the add-ons linked within the thread. I downloaded the files to my PC, copied them onto the Flyers SD card and renamed one to update.zip.
Rebooted the Flyer and accessed the Reolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4.
I tried to install using ' apply update from sdcard ' and ' install zip from sdcard ' selecting the update.zip each time and get the following ...
~~~~
Reolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
-- Installing: /sdcard/update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
~~~~
I'm certain that its something I'm doing wrong here as the ROM thread doesn't have anyone else reporting the same issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] OTA ICS 4.0 Failed HTC Sensation:: Status 7 (Maps.apk)

I've been trying to install ICS OTA for last couple of day...
I did Factory Reset Data,, formatted the SD Card and downloaded all the updates from 1.35.707.1 to 1.50.707.1
I downloaded the update around 10 times but every time i encountered the same problem.
I would highly appreciate if anyone could help...Contacted HTC and done all what the said to do...(Factory Reset Data, SD Card Format etc.)
here is the installation message i see when i press the Volume Up +Power button, once stuck at red triangle icon.

Talked to HTC Support via Web Chat.... They suggested to Format the SD card with Fat32 and try to install.. did so and no new result.
Other option suggested by HTC Help is to factory rest... which i did... No different.
Install Maps ...
just update the google maps to 6.5.0 and tried installing the OTA for ICS... same result.
Solution
There is only one solution:
you have to find your original Maps.apk and restore it in the correct location.
often Maps.apk is wiped by rooting scripts to free-up space.
your Maps.apk MUST have this SHA1 hash: cafac724385e245557e1f969eca53713cea10438
1) download your old original ROM
2) extract from system.img the Maps.apk file
3) verify the SHA1 hash of the file
4) if you found the correct file, copy it in the /system/app folder of your mobile, you must use a software able to mount the system partition as writable, like ES file manager ( take a look at settings )
5) reinstall the OTA update

[Q] Error when attempting to install CM9 0.6.9.3 by Jokersax

I'm trying to upgrade my Atrix 4G from CM9 0.6.9.1 to 0.6.9.3, however when I choose the zip file, I get the following:
"-- Installing: /emmc/cm-9-20120612-UNOFFICIAL-olympus.zip

E:Can't open /emmc/cm-9-20120612-UNOFFICIAL-olympus.zip

Help anyone?
Download it again ... seems to be corrupted or something...
Use the torrent or download to two devices and generate MD5 hashes on both to verify the download was successful.

[Q] CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly Builds - Update Functionality

Hello,
i registered new to the Forum so actually I am not allowed to post directly in the thread of the ROM
I installed the newest 10.1 nightly builds on my Galaxy S3 I9300
currently I have the nightly build of 31.12.2012 and i want to update to the ones from 02.01.2013
in my phone i went to SETTINGS --> About the Phone -->CyanogenMod Updates
I already downloaded the new nightly versions and i clicked on the install icon.
The Phone reboots into recovery mode but then i get the following error message:
-- Installing package ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/0/cmupdater/cm-10.1-20130102-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip
(No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Afterwards I can only reboot the system
I also tried to manually copy the nightly build file to the sdcard and chosed install from external sd and picking the file manually but doesnt work as well
Am I doing something wrong? Does the updater not work properly?

[Q] Error when flashing 4.1.2 (CDMA/Verizon)

I've downloaded two different files, from different people, from different hosts of the Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip. I'm stock non-rooted on 4.0.4 on the XT912.
Following the instructions, I verified I could open the zip file, then transferred the zip file to the SD Card. I did the Vol Up + Vol Down + Power; Recovery; Vol Up + Vol Down; Install from SD Card, but then I get this little error:
Code:
qe 1/1
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/GuidedTours.apk", "a ton of letters and numbers", "more oodles of letters and numbers")
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
Status 7
Installation aborted.
I've formatted the SD Card, Reset to Factory (3x), cleared all internal storage and then tried again...Same result. Any suggestions? HALP
AW: [Q] Error when flashing 4.1.2 (CDMA/Verizon)
There's missing the GuideMe.apk in the system/app folder. You need to put it back (or just flash your current ICS Fastboot) to apply the Update.

Well.
My device is different than yours, but i'll share what i did in order to make it work.
I flashed back to GB using RSD Lite (after a flash failure caused by this rom).
Then flashed again to ICS.
And then finally i followed specific instructions and got JB working on my phone.
GB and ICS roms were fastboot roms ! I sugges you trying those before apply the JB one , as our friend mentioned
