Does anyone have any app recommendations for the Flyer? I am enjoying the Kindle app and Dolphin Browser Mini for tabbed browsing.
I can't wait for Netflix to get their stuff together so we can use it. I tried and it only streams audio, no video comes through.

+1 on Netflix
XDA premium app ofcourse.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
Google Music Beta works great and I'm enjoying TV sows with TV Shows Stream from the Android Market. Also, don't forget to downlaod Spare Parts and unchecl the "Compatability Mode" is you come across apps that don't stretch to full screen.
Google Voice MIA
- Google Voice does not appear in the Market. Had to download APK from alternate source in order to get it.
- HBOGO App = No Go on Flyer.
- +2 On Netflix
But the GV thing is just plain weird. I notified HTC Support and they were of course no help whatsoever.
GV depends on telephony because of some permissions. So the market filters it out.It doesn't show up for most wifi only devices.
I sideloaded Voice. Also installed Skype for VOIP calling... not integrated with contacts or Voice though. Dropbox was a must for me also.
whatsapp
does anyone know if the flyer can use whatsapp?

There are 2 developers of apps called Spare Parts in the Android Market; DroidGram makes two - Spare Parts Plus! (no ads) and Spare Parts Plus! Pro (no ads)
and Android Apps makes one simply named Spare Parts.
Which one are you using?
Thanks

Yes it can. It works well with the big screen.
However, I can't find it from the market. I need to get the apk from my DesireHD.
I have installed NKJV Bible, NIV Bible and the free KJV Bible. The blue icon Bibles in Market. They are such great apps for personal devotion or study.

Wow, thanks for the info! I just did as you described and all my apps now stretch to full screen!
My recommendations are...
Thumb Keyboard for landscape text entry. NewsRob pro for RSS and Pulse for casual browsing. Plus all the games I liked on my phone are even better: Jet Stunt Cars, Plants Vs Zombies, etc. Unfortunately your progress doesn't transfer over until we have root.

COMIS - DC & Marvel

C'mon what's on your list? What am I missing??!??
Here are a few of my favorites along with ones I can't live without!
Pandora - Streaming Music
Opera Internet Browser

Engadget
Evernote - take all my class notes and they're all synced
Dictionary.com
Doittomorrow - really awesome reminder app
QR Droid

Pulse is a gorgeous application, but I think Engadget's one of those sites that deserves it's own app. I'm not saying this due to differences in formatting, but the ease of access to the comments which are the heart of the Article.
Great thread thanks for posting

Keep up the good work!!! Lots of goodies...
Found another couple of great apps!!!!
Key Ring - For all those little store rewards cards... Store them on your phone instead of carrying them around!!!
Google Goggles - Augmented Reality! Uses GPS location and camera to tell you ANYTHING about what you're looking at!!!
Yelp! - Uses GPS location & Camera to let you know about the restaurant BEFORE walking in... !!!!
New York Subway & Bus maps!!! - for residents and TOURISTS... Keep track of subway updates and tracking transit info!!!
anybody mention shopsavvy? or barcode scanner?
AnimMod for root users is sick, you can change window/transition animations on your phone.
Words with friends with no ads is sweet.
Tapatalk is awesome for exactly what I'm doing now.
Dropbox, duh.
Adw.launcher ex is an awesome and consistent home replacement.
Tweetdeck is sweet, but tweetdark is even better because of the black theme.
Don't know if anyone has messed with Voodoo Screen Control but it does enhance the beauty of the super smiled plus.
Oh and Extended Controls for a couple extra toggles you night not find too many other places.

I just got my tab two months ago, and I have been trying to find any app that best suits this gadget. So far, I almost got what I want, so I decide to write them down, and maybe this can help some other newcomers like me.
player:
1.BSplayer. It has a very nice ui and an functional LAN mode(you can stream from any smb server within a LAN). It's currently introduced a hw acceleration method, which I think is as good as the one that Diceplayer has.
2.Google Music. Very cool UI with a nice widget. A must-have app for anyone who likes google's music streaming service.
Google Reader
HD Reader Since I rely on google reader to subscribe rss feeds, google reader app is definitely a essential reading tool on my tab. But I really don't like the google's version(it's just a phone app). After several days of app-hunting, I found this one, it supports 3 different theme, and many essential settings such as on/off line mode, font family, cache, image downloading, etc. it's ui design is just visually appealing. Plus it has a transparent widget which is also configurable.
Podcast download/streaming
Beyond Pod. This one is definitely the best choice if you listen/watch podcast on daily basis. the ui is optimized for tablet, and transition is quite smooth. It provided all the basic features of a podcast receiver app.
Ebook Reader
Mantano I tried a lot of ebook reader's but eventually settled with Mantano reader. It has a very nice ui which is optimized for tablet. It supports epub as well as pdf. The reading experience is excellent.
Ezpdfreader. Probably the best pdf reader I could find.
Facebook/twitter
Wizz widget for tablet. this applet is just enough for basic usage of facebook/twitter. so I don't need other apps for these. Anyway, you can try Friendme/Friendcaster, and tweetcomb. These individual apps are all optimized for the tablets.
My Recommended Apps For Tablet - From Galaxy 10.1 WiFi
Player
1) PlayerPro. It is about the only player app that gave me the opportunity to edit the album art for each one of my songs. Another cool thing of it is the ability to install and use personalized Skins. Pretty Nice looking interface, to me this is my Music Player Winner. My library looks so organized with this app.
2) Google Music. As hilltruange states, this is a must-have app for anyone who likes google's Music Streaming service. I also like the fact that it kind of connects your music experience with the new market Music feauture.
3)AudioGalaxy. This is the winner when it comes to a low capacity of storage on your device!. AudioGalaxy allows you to stream ALL your music from home straight to your personal device in just a few SECONDS! This app is kind of like Google Music nevertheless it does not upload it to the cloud but instead it streams it using the internet connection. Must-have as well.
Ebook Reader
I personally go more for the cool looking interface - Flipping pages like a real book rather than what the app itself can do. Ive had my Galaxy 10.1 Tab for about 4 months now and Ill have to admit that i havent found anything really better than the Ebook.apk app that came with my Task650 - ROM. It does the job just great! In my opinion this app really makes the reading feel like if you were reading a real technological book. I personally use online EPUB converters so that i can enjoy my PDF's with the "Flipping pages" feature.
Just for the record, Ive tried Mantano and dont get me wrong. The app is awesome but just the fact that it only does scrolling effect on the pages really bugs me. :-(
Live TV/Movies/Sports/Streaming
So far my Number One app for live Tv streaming is Veetle.apk. I've personally used Veetle for about 2 years now and trust me it is great!. It is about the only app out there that allows you to stream hd movies at a very nice quality on your Tablet!. I also have NETFLIX which also does the job for me.
Android Launcher
ADWLauncher Ex. I understand that the Stock Android Launcher looks pretty descent but the ADWLauncher Ex just turns your Android Tablet experience to a whole new level! Take a look at my Google+ TNDG page:
h t t p s : / / p l u s . g o o g l e . c o m / u /0/b/103728314829341153863/#
In there i have some of my tablet screen pics using ADWLauncher Ex.
WiFi Calling! For Free
Groove IP. If you have a WiFi ONLY tablet then you should really get yourself a Google Voice account and download GrooVe IP from the market!. Groove IP tuns your WiFi Tablet into a Phone. Must-Have if you want to make phone calls for free.
OoVoO. Number ONE Video conference app WAY better and HD quality compared to Tango. If you have Google Talk and most of your friends are on it then you should be fine using the Talk Video feauture. Nevertheless, if you want to experience something different but with the same quality as Google hangouts then i strongly recommend to download OoVoO.apk.
Sound Equilizer
EQualizer. EQualizer from Google Music takes the quality of your tablet sound to a whole new level!.
Best Keyboards
SwiftKey Tablet X. SwiftKey Tablet X is in my opinion the best when it comes to a nice looking neon easy to use keyboard experience!.
HD Tablet - Video Games!
Riptide GP - HD
ShadowGun - HD
Pinball for Tegra - HD
Ocean Bubble - HD
Light Racer 3D - HD
GOF2 THD - HD
Block Breaker 3 - HD
Stardunk - HD

I've had my tab since August, and I've spent a lot of time trying out different apps and bouncing around.
I still stick with Stitcher for Podcasts, having tried BeyondPod and a few others and just not being that impressed. I'm hoping Stitcher will get more tablet-optimized soon.
For an RSS reader, I hadn't seen HD Reader before -- it looks pretty slick. I've been turned off by all the apps like Pulse which turn my daily news-reading into a huge multimedia experience; I much prefer the simplicity of the standard Google Reader app to that. HD Reader looks like it might be a nice merging, though, and I'll give that a try.
MoonReader+ works well for epub reading, but I think I'll give Mantano a try.
DicePlayer was one of the first apps I bought for my tablet for videos, and I haven't regretted it.
Reddita is great for browsing and posting to Reddit. I have Reddit is Fun for my phone, but Reddita is just perfect on tablets.
I prefer Thumb Keyboard | Tablet over SwiftKey X for Tablet, but it's pretty close. I use Hacker's Keyboard occasionally when I'm doing terminal sessions. Speaking of, Better Terminal Emulator pro is the only option for SSH sessions!
Make sure you browse around Tablified.
news360 is my favorite news app for the tab so far, but I'll have to checkout HD reader.
thank u so much guys...these lists were needed a long ago but its never late.
i agree that these lists are awesome and this thread must be sticky so that newcomers can take advantage.
Music
TuneIn Radio - Ha! Who needs an FM antenna? I can get all my favorite radio stations from everywhere I've ever lived, oh and that cool one from Germany. I haven't even bothered putting MP3s on my tab because of this app.
Ebook
FBreader - No fancy graphics, just customizable and simple epub access. Quite possibly the most opened app on my Tab.
TV
Crunchyroll - Mmmm anime. I've been tempted more than once to invest in the premium access.
Keyboard
Thumb Keyboard - Very fast, and has an awesome Tron-styled theme.
HD Reader is amazing, I've been using it since the first day I got the tab. it is the best Google Reader that I've seen

Is their a way to increase font size in mantano reader?
I just tried Stitcher and I love it so far, I think that is my media news (podcasts/video/news radio) and Goggle Currents has been nice so far for reading.
So my favorite apps are:
Podcasts: Stitcher
News Reader: Currents, Pulse
Launcher: ADW
Browser: Dolphin w/ LastPass & Xmarks
Voicemail: Google Voice
Media: Pandora, Plex, 8tracks
DLNA: Skifta
Remote Desktop: PocketCloud
Other:
Evernote
Read It Later
Dropbox
someone recommended reddita for reddit, while it is good, i prefer f5 for reddit on tab, and on the phone, bacon reader( also for redit)
I use Pulse and I really like it, some times Currents too but one big issue is offline reading i have 32gigs on my tab and i dont care how much it takes to download all news everyday from about 100 sources. but I want to read full articles with images offline when im on the road..
I would be greatful for any advice
Just had my wifes replacement tab arrive today, boy its gonna be fun getting into this thing!
I've seen a lot of great suggestions here, but was wondering if there are many launchers optimized for tablet?
I saw ADWlauncherEX suggested, i already own that on my phone so i will definitely try that first.

I don't know about launchers designed for tablets, but I use ADWex and have had no issue at all with it.
On a side note, Mint just optimized their finance app for tabs and it is great. If you're a stickler about managing your expenses, I find this app to be incredible.

Since this thread is in nearly every other phone subforum, I though I'd start one here. I've been through this relatively small section and didn't see this specific thread, so I started it up.
What are your favorite apps and games on your Note (whether i717 or visiting GT-N7000'ers)? I'll start it off.
Apps
Utilities and System
Adfree (requires root) - blocks Ads across most of the phone
aDownloader - Torrent downloader
Airdroid - great app to remote in to phone, transfer files, etc.
androidlost - track missing phone (not convinced this is working properly on Note)
androidVNC - great VNC app
Barcode scanner - scan QR codes and standard 2D barcodes
Beautiful widgets - it is what is
Camscanner - take photos of documents and convert to PDF (awesome)
Connectbot - SSH client for Android
Dropbox - awesome
Dropsync - makes Dropbox actually a 2 way sync - worth the $$
ES File Explorer - great file system browser / utility
LCD Density Modder Pro (requires root) - lets you easily change LCD density
LogMeIn - remote control computers from your device - free service
Root Explorer - a staple for any rooted device
Screencast (requires root) - make screencasts from your phone
Speedtest - it is what it is
Titanium Backup - the Swiss army knife for rooted devices
Ubuntu installer (root) - run a full version of Ubuntu on your phone (via VNC)
Ultra GPS logger - awesome GPS utility
WiFi tracker - great utility for spectrum analysis of WiFi hotspots
ES File Explorer - great file explorer. It can be a root explorer if you have root access.
FOXFI - Tethering app
NetEye Camera - watch IP camera at home or work.
Media
doubleTwist - for those having iTunes withdrawal or if you like a clean interface, doubleTwist with Airsync are great
Flixster - Check movie times, reviews, trailers
IMDb - the famous international movie database on your phone
MX Video Player - an awesome video player that can handle most every codec
Pocket casts - fantastic podcaster with scheduling and other options
Soundhound - great way to listen and find out the name of 'that song'
TuneIn Radio Pro - stream radio stations over IP on your phone
Others not categorized
Here are some other great apps I have that I didn't stick somewhere above. They are either fairly well known, or you will likely have come across them on the Market, I mean the "Play store."
Amazon - if you are not sure what this is, welcome to Earth.
Amazon Kindle - its the Kindle app
Antennas - log RF signals from both cellular and WiFi hotspots near you
Camera ZOOM FX - Decent camera replacement app
Craigslist - Decent Craigslist app
Currents - Pretty neat magazine like app from Google
DavDrive - Access your phone via WebDAV; similar to Airdroid, but I find it simpler to use.
Google Earth
Evernote - Good note syncing app
Facebook - Yep
Googles - Take photos of objects and Google can search their database for what it is
Google+
GPS Status - Another GPS utility
GPS Test - Another GPS utility
ICS Keyboard - Great keyboard replacement for the stock one in my opinion
imo - Great multi-chat client (free too!)
Marriott - If you stay here, actually not a bad app
Netflix - I don't pay for their service anymore, but if you do, you likely have this
NPR News - Great app for listening to NPR and reading some of their featured stories
OpenSignal - Another signal mapping utility
OpenTable - Reserve a table at a nearby restaurant right from your phone
Pandora - Awesome music discovery tool
PayPal - Yep
Quadrant Standard - A great way to measure how fast (or slow) your phone is
RF Signal Tracker - I like RF signal tools, but I am an engineer so there you go

Unit Converter - 'Nuff said
WebSharing - an Airdroid like app, I don't use it very often, but it is an alternative[/QUOTE]
Mantano Reader - Great app for reading any ePub or PDF I throw at it. It also has great annotation support and a recent update just added cloud support. Sadly, the cloud is a separate fee.
Pocket Informant - Great for events, tasks, or general notes. It is expensive though.
3G Watchdog- Nice for watching all my data consumption
ScreenFilter- Great for saving both battery and usage at night.
Andy-83 - wonderful TI-83 calculator emulator. If you have your TI-83 rom, this is a much better alternative to paid scientific calculator apps on the market (my opinion).
WAZE - driving social navigation (see where the cops are hiding)
Ulysse Speedometer - Super nice dash trip meter
Saving this in case the list get's big and updating.
I just bought Tasker yesterday, and boy, is it great. I had it on my Nook in December/January but I never really took the time to figure it out, but after reading some threads here on XDA, I finally understand it.
I like:
riptide gp(thanks for suggestion)
shadowgun
dead space
turbofly 3d

No problem. Riptide GP is really fun
I last played Backstab HD on my Nook Color; it has a really good storyline, but how does it look good on our Super AMOLED screens?
I'll also have to check on the three in between. I tried Dead Space when I had my iPhone 4 but I could never seriously game on the iOS.
I'm really enjoying games that I can play using the S-Pen, like Plants vs Zombies or Sentinel 3. Playing classics on emulators is my favorite though, playing Star Fox 64, the first Resident Evil, and Twisted Metal 2 at the moment
Do any of you have a gamepad/controller that you prefer?
Get the classic Nintendo controllor. They conneccr by Bluetooth, but you need root. They also only work for emulators.

I'd really like something with an analog, tried using my ps3 controller via the sixaxis app and that worked well most of the time, but no analog support yet.

Backstab looks pretty good, but so far dead space and shadowgun are the two best looking ones to me, not too happy about their size, some of them range from 500+mb to 800+mb additional download to play the game, but I can understand from the graphics quality that it would be that large.

- Google Maps (even on the iPhone this was by far my favorite app)
- Calendar (I love the new look, wish I could get this on my Galaxy S II & my Galaxy 10.1)
Google Maps has always been a reliable application. I used to go to other alternatives, but the free navigation on Android is incredible.
My new apps:
ES File Explorer - great file explorer. It can be a root explorer if you have root access.
Andy-83 - wonderful TI-83 calculator emulator. If you have your TI-83 rom, this is a much better alternative to paid scientific calculator apps on the market (my opinion).
I'd love to see more opinions.
I'm new, hard to sift through the thousands of Apps for what's good, especially taking into consideration our larger high definition screens.
I use:
Taptu news reader
NoLed screen notifications
ESPN ScoreCenter
Poweramp music player
World of Goo

I thought I would add in my two cents here for those that are new to Android. My one word of advice is don't be afraid to pay for apps - there are some amazing applications that are the cost of a soft drink or beer and they really make the experience much better.
Games
Dead Space
Golf Extreme - Easy golf game, but great for killing time
HomerunBattle3D - OK baseball game. Similar to Golf Extreme (currently cheap!)
Grand Theft Auto 3 - A ported version of GTAIII, runs great
Shadowgun - great shooter game
(As you can see, I am not much of a gamer)
Media
doubleTwist - for those having iTunes withdrawal or if you like a clean interface, doubleTwist with Airsync are great
Flixster - Check movie times, reviews, trailers
IMDb - the famous international movie database on your phone
MX Video Player - an awesome video player that can handle most every codec
Pocket casts - fantastic podcaster with scheduling and other options
Soundhound - great way to listen and find out the name of 'that song'
TuneIn Radio Pro - stream radio stations over IP on your phone
Others not categorized
Here are some other great apps I have that I didn't stick somewhere above. They are either fairly well known, or you will likely have come across them on the Market, I mean the "Play store."

I have a few I can't dismiss in my phone, they are:
Smart Volume Control + - don't have to be searching for options and going from here to there to do something, this app has every major option of the phone in such a little amount of space. Volume control, abitily to create profiles, mute, turn on and off wifi, 3g and others.
Easy Money - manage my bank accounts.
Essential apps for Android
Thanks for this comprehensive list.
I one I that I couldn't live without...
#1 is Evernote With Evernote, all of your notes, web clips, files and images are made available on every device and computer you use. What I really like is it's simple and intuitive interface. nice clean design that allows you to make notes with photos and audio capabilities. I must admit it took a little time to learn all the capabilities it has but I now depend on it. It's a free app.

I'd recommend you to use 'Droid Light' made by Motorola or 'Tesla LED' by the makers of Nova Launcher, because Brightest Flashlight requires ALMOST EVERY permission, from reading phone calls to Full Internet Access, whereas these apps don't use any such permissions
