I recently purchased this adapter
HTC Multifunction Audio Adapter for HTC Touch T-Mobile G1 Shadow II Wing Sprint Mogul AT&T Tilt from amazon
The charger port works fine, however I cant seem to get the headphone jack work. Any tips?
My OS is: Android 1.6
You need the toggleheadset app widget from the Android Market.
link us to the amazon page I have one of those multifunction adapters and mine works perfect. Every rooted rom has been able to use it (except SuperCSDI, for that I needed the headset toggle from goocle code.)
One other possible workaround:
Use the single line headset adapter that came with the phone along with the 3-in-1. I have begun to do this in my car so I can use my G1 "semi" hands-free by using just the headset mic while it's plugged into the stereo.

Does anyone know if the HTC P3350 W100 Wired Remote Control
http://www.expansys.com/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=147564[/URL]
will work with the Cingular 8525 (Hermes, TyTN)? This is sold in Europe and can be had in the US from Mobile Planet which seems to be the same as expansys.com.
On the European HTC site there is also a media fix that may apply to this accessory as well as the Y connector.

Downloading and installing this driver update will provide your HTC mobile device with the latest available optimised software for use with the following accessories:

The hot music setup for Mogul and 8525
I just purchased the HTC RC W100 Remote from Mobile Planet. It connects to the phone's extUSB and provides a 3.5mm headset jack that carries the mic port out to the connector. It has a 36" cord so there is a lot of cord if you have a long headset cord.
The head has controls for fast forward, pause, +/- volume and you can answer/end calls, mute and put a call on/off hold. This assumes that you have a mic on your headset to talk into.
The http://www.Europe.HTC.Com site says it is for the TyTn II but it seems to work with both the 8525 and the Mogul . . . It is not on the USA site at all.
I use the Sure SE110s stereo headset (individual internal sub-woofer component) and added their MPA-C cable that has a mic in it (Thsi would work for any headset). I have not found any other solutions that wok this well.
The standard headset really has poor quality and is uncomfortable for my ears. Bluetooth is either a mono headset w/ mic or a stereo headset (no mic) and the battery life is unpredictable.
This way I can ride my bike and control my music while the Mogul stays in my camel-back and when a call comes I can actually answer it and then go back to listening.
Very cool setup.
So this doesn't solve the headphone problem? Can't I just buy this and a pair of headphones? I don't need handfree anyway
E: Why a 36'' cord? I totally lost interest

I do not know what headset problem you are referring to but this is definitely a solution if you want to listen to music with a good stereo headset. I just happen to like the Shure stuff because they eliminate some road and wind noise while I am riding my bike or skiing. Also the higher end ones actually have miniature tweeters and sub-woofers built in.
All you need is the W100 and any headset with a 3.5mm jack.
As it turns out, I just found out the unit has a built-in mic and that eliminates the need for a more expensive headset that has a mic. There was nothing in the manual that came with it that talked about the mic! So RTFB does not work!
It also comes with a small disc that has the driver in it. I tried to install it on my Mogul but it said that I had the latest driver . . .
As far as the 36" cord, my Shure headset comes in 2 pieces, the earphones are on a short cord so it is not too long. If you had a standard headset, it might get a little long.
The other side of the Shure headset has the connectors that go into the device(s). This way you can have several different connectors for different phones, MP3 players, etc. Blackberry's and Razor's have different jacks and most cell phones like the HTC 8125 (Cingular) use a 2.5 mm jack.
I posted a reply to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450197 because it also talks about such an adapter, but I thought I would post a new thread for the phone that I actually have.
I'm looking for a extUSB to 3.5mm adapter, but not the common kind that allows you to plug in stereo headphones or has a microphone built inside the adapter. I'm looking for an adapter that allows you to plug in stereo headsets with in-line microphones. These headsets are designed for iPhones and BlackBerrys and has a 3.5mm connector with an extra ring to support the microphone, and I'm hoping to find an extUSB adapter that supports 3.5mm connectors with three rings so the microphone would work. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? Thanks.
I use this one. It's kind of big but it is the only i can find that I am able to use my iphone headphones with inline mic. After cupcake came out the adapter stopped working but is now working with cyanogen's rom. I would love to find another smaller one that will work with an inline mic.
Thank you so much flowidc for confirming that such a thing actually exists! Please keep me up to date on your quest to find a smaller version of the adapter.

mine never broke. only time it didn't work was in OTA cupcake
I have this same HTC usb to stereo with mic adapter and have used it with Cyan 4.04, Cyan 41x, and all the Hero Roms and had no problems. I use both Blackberry earpieces w/ mic and a cheapo earpiece w/ mic. I like way better than the regular HTC usb adapter and earbuds.
I found it on Ebay, I offered the guy $5 and he accepted my offer. Here is the link

this might be a stupid question, but would the HTC Multifunction Audio Adapter allow you to use a headset that comes with a mic, or would you have to use a earpiece along with an inline microphone?
thanks

You just use a headset that has a built in mic.
*edit*
Nevermind, same thing already posted but for much less...

Great adapter and good build quality too (it has rubbery coating on the cable and it doesn't feel/look cheap unlike some adapters with this style). Great for driving headset since it already has built-in mic. You can use any headphones you want, even though I think the original pair that comes with it performs quite well. The downside is that there's no manual volume control on it, but I can live with that.
Dream not of inline microphones...
I got the OEM adapter as well, but on my ADP1, it doesn't fully work;
I can charge, but the 3.5 and 2.5 jacks are dead. They neither work as outputs or inputs. If I plug an EXtUSB to 3.5 adapter into the EXTUSB headset port on the OEM adapter, the phone's microphone is disabled.
I really want an adapter that can be used to connect, via 3.5 wire, to the car stereo, and still be able to use the phone's microphone, or be able to plug in an external microphone for hands-free use.

I have a similar setup, I discovered yesterday on the way home a way to get audio through the 3.5mm jack. This is a convoluted way, but it did work.
1. I had my OEM adapter plugged in
2. I plugged in my OEM headset to the headset jack
3. I plugged in the 3.5mm adapter into the 3.5mm jack
4. Started the music player
The sound came through both the headset and the car radio, unplugged the headset and the sound continued to play through the radio. Once the 3.5mm jack is unplugged, the process will need to be repeated. I hope this helps.

Hi all,
Can the TP2 support headphones from the iPhone? By that, I mean controlling the phone and mic coming from the 3.5mm jack?
If so, can anyone suggest a set of buds that work well?
Thanks1
Well, I answered my own question today. iPhone headset plays back audio, phone calls, but the mic does not work.
So we're still left with the question: what headset will work?
i am using HTC RC E100 as headphone adapter. It's remote controller with 3,5mm jack on it... pretty cool thinngy but with pretty ****y cable (
ditto the HTC E100. Controls plus mic. I soldered a pair of etymotics drivers onto a shorty 6" cable that allows me use with the TP2 (via the E100) or my ipod (via a headphone extension).
Hello,
I've bought Touch HD without headset and after few days I've bought headset too. But unfortunately I recognise that it is headset for Diamond (via usb, not mini jack) and my phone shows that I can't use this headset.
Is there any possibility to break that blockade and use that headset?
Thanks for help!!!
Ah, I just gave my Tytn Headset a go, and it gives the same warning message telling me its not supported and i have to remove it.
The hardware may not actually be capable of using the socket for audio, you're probably better off getting another actual 3.5ml Jack headset.
But in ported android for blackstone you can chose, which headset you want to use, so hardware is O.K.
I think that it is matter of changing registry but it's only my prediction
interesting. Did you actually get an ext-usb headset working with Android?
i've tryed the htc cable extusb-rca , to use the blackstone like an mp3 player in my car, with the aux-in of the original radio...but it doesn't work :-(
i must use just the 3,5mm jack....
does someone have news about this?
Hey
I've just tested my micro USB headset that i have from O2 XDA Zest and it doesn't work on HTC Touch HD (Windows Mobile 6.5)
if the touch hd's extusb connector does not support tv out or audio out, what is the point of giving it an extusb connector at all, a normal mini-usb would have done.
i would love to get a docking station like this: http://cgi.ebay.de/System-S-USB-Cradle-Dock-HTC-Touch-HD-Pianolack-/350303026359?pt=Handy_Zubehör but that would require the extusb actually working and being able to be split up into 3.5mm audio and normal mini usb.
I don't have earphones for my G1, since i bought my phone on ebay and it was used and didn't come with one.
I have never used earphones with my G1, i am planning to buy one now. I wasn't able to get one on ebay India and the one's that i find on ebay US are expensive for me. Can you guys suggest me any other brand of earphones that would work with my HTC Dream?
I could check my local market to find if they are available here.
Thanks
Buy this adapter adapter and then you can use any 3,5 headphones.
how to make mini USB to 3.5mm adapter ?

HTC G1 Headphone alternative +Charging ?
I was looking for an adapter that will allow me to charge while using the 3.5mm TRS head phones jack. I ordered this from one of these from ebay www(dot)wirelessground.com/sc5310(dot)html But I can't get it to work. After getting it I noticed that some sites do not list it as compatible with the G1 and some do. I have not noticed any other adapter that allows charging at the same time.
You can buy HTC A300 and use heatphone 3.5 ........................seach in google.

Hi,
do you know if Headsets are supported? Can I use the remote function of my Evo 3D headset?
Thanks,
Hardy
All you need is a mini-usb 11 pin to 3.5mm cable or adaptor; accordingly, I do believe that the evo3d headset would work--assuming that it is a standard 3.5mm jack with nothing extra going on. Although, I am not 100% sure on the compatibility between the two as I do not own one; however, if the headset works in other standard 3.5mm jacks, it should work with any of the kits. As always, YMMV.
These adaptors can be found on amazon for as little as $0.01 + shipping.
