Currently got a T-Mobile HD2 and unlocked it, obviously I only got edge. Is there anything I can do (radios/roms etc.) to get 3G working on this phone? If I would have known this before hand I would have never put myself in this situation
Kept reading into it, guess not. Fail.
Sorry but yeah there is no way short of replacing the antenna to get 3g on the T-mobile version. Piece of advice before you ever get another unlocked device is do your homework on it. Ill close this now that you found your answer

I currently have a TMobile Pocket pc phone edition that i recently installed the WM2003 upgrade on, i love it.
Now i hear that there are XDA2 devices out, which sound like better, faster devices. I asked TMobile, and they say that as long as the phone supports GSM 1900 and can be unlocked to use any SIM card, switching phones is a piece of cake.
So i guess my question is, has anyone tried this? I would like to get a O2 XDA2 over the M1000. Has anyone gotten them to work on the TMobile network here in the USA? I'd hate to spend the money on the device and not have it work. Or would it be better if i wait for some (needed?) ROM upgrades?
Thanks a lot =)
Edit: Okay so i didnt type in the right keywords into google the first time. User review here basically answers all my questions:

I hate AT&T but I do like the Atrix. If I manage to unlock it, I know I will be able to connect to T-Mobile's edge network, but is there any chance it would be able to connect to T-Mobile's 3G and 4G networks? Before anyone says no out of hand remember an unlocked Vibrant can connect to AT&T's 3G network.
I know this seems like a dumb question but I really do hate AT&T and would rather stick with my Nexus S on T-Mobile than use an Atrix on AT&T. So I'm hoping that the unlikely possibilty exists that I can use the Atrix on T-Mobile's network.

Short answer...NO.
I was afraid that would be the answer, but out of curiosity you said the short answer was no, is there a long answer that is yes?

lol, you don't give up do you? Well it's still no. This phone was not built with AWS bands in mind, which are 1700/2100mhz. In case of the Vibrant, I guess Samsung wanted more world support and offer the 1900mhz which is also supported by AT&T. Either way you take it, it's just not going work.
I suggest you wait for now, your Nexus S will keep you happy until T-Mobile gets some dual core love as well. Just try and be patient, sometimes this pays off in the end ..
Besides, you have more dev support right now, so go flash some ROMs.
Thanks, for taking the time to answer my question with such great detail. I will stick with my Nexus S for sure now. I knew it was a longshot when I posted but a guy can hope.

Haha no problem..good luck, maybe things will change in a few weeks ..anyway all the best!
Hello all, i have a Vibrant. but unfortunately in my area at&t only operates their 3g on the 850band, which the vibrant doesn't support. so ive been stuck on Edge for months now, and getting sick of it.
I was wondering if the internal cellular antenna could be swapped with lets say a samsung captivate. so that it could operate on my local 3g band? (without any horrible software issues).
thanks for replies.
I don't know if this is actually possible, but I wish it was. That way, I would my antenna with the one in the Galaxy S 4G. I guess you'd have to find someone with that type of experience.
As of now im guessing it isn't, been searching everywhere on the net and i dont think its even been attempted on any android phones, I have learned that the cellular antenna housing is in the hump on the bottom of the phone. may disassemble it and take a look.
EDIT::: this is completely possible, however, i cannot find a supplier or place to buy a compatible chip that works on all bands....
ANYONE lemme know where i can. please and thankyou
Hey,
I'm about to order my Atrix online, however I'm not quite sure yet, because I'm going to take this phone back to germany, so I've still got some questions:
1. So the Atrix 4G is only available with an AT&T branding, right?
2. I've heard, that some people that bought a AT&T Atrix and unlocked and then put a different sim card in couldn't connect to wifi. Does anybody know, whether these issues remain? (I'm planning on getting this http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Atri..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1327726863&sr=1-1)
3. Is there any way to remove the AT&T branding completly through software or something like that?
4. If the Atrix has still got issues, what about the Atrix 2, is it possible for that phone to work properly in germany?
Thanks in advance
There are no more issues with that, you will probably need to simunlock it though. Secondly for the price maybe rather look into some other manufacturers top end phone, as it looks now the atrix won't be getting official ICS, so your kind of stuck with it than...
I have a UK unlocked HTC titan, I get horrible reception in my house and AT&T has given me a 3g Microcell to fix it, well the Microcell has its own problems, but regardless they say that my phone wont work with the Microcell anyways because its only getting E (edge) so they convinced me to get a new phone (Nokia Lumia 900) which i did like, but ultimatly took back because I love my titan so much, they no longer offer the titan 1 and would only give it to me for $199 through their site (which is BS because the titan 2 is $199) I know i should just et the titan 2 but i dislike the curved glass, I like the look and feel of my Titan 1, I would have already dropped AT&T and went to verizon but they have no WP7 phonesand I want to keep my titan...
So I'm asking:
Is there a Rom that I could flash to my titan (Its an Unlocked UK version (British lady voice and all) and AppHub Unlocked) that would set it to the AT&T rom and possibley get better signal as well as 3G capabilities?
I would like to flashmy rom and use the one from AT&T to recieve 3G and use the Microcell as well as overall better coverage.
Im somewhat of a noob to the flashing and dont know if thats how it works or what... Can someone please help?
Thanks.

What a situation you got yourself into I reckon there will be plenty out there who would like to swap their att branded htc titan to your european unlocked titan Anyway back to your question..., yes you can flash your phone with stock cingular (att) rom but it is not a straight forward flashing. You will need to use "goldcard method" to flash a stock cingular (att) rom to your phone. I advise you to read this related threads on goldcard method:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24809318#post24809318
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371073&highlight=goldcard+spl+downgrade+method
You need to download the Cingular (A&T) rom 1.10 from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334468
You just need to rename the nbh file into ETERIMG.nbh to use in your goldcard.
In summary, to flash stock AT&T rom you need to use the goldcard method to flash the Cingular ROM 1.10 to your european unlocked htc titan.
Hope this help.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the response! Now im faced with 2 options ... sell/trade the phone (I LOVE THE TITAN!) or Get the materials and try out the Rom to see if it fixes my problem. I guess we'll see.
SO YOU ARE TELLING ME THEORETICALLY FLASHING THE STOCK AT&T TITAN ROM TO MY UNLOCKED VERSION WILL FIX THE NO 3G PROBLEM? IS THERE ANY DRAWBACKS OR ANYTHING WITH THIS FLASH, DO I NEED TO MESS WITH THE RADIO? ANY AND ALL INFORMATION IS DEF APPRECIATED!
IF IM GONNA DO THIS, I WANNA KNOW WHAT IM IN FOR AND WHAT IM GONNA GET, AT THIS POINT AT&T GAVE M A MICROCELL TO FIX MY SERVICE PROBLEM (BUT NO 3G ON MY TITAN) AND THEY ALSO GAVE ME AN EARLY UPGRADE OPTION, AND WITH ALREADY HAVING THE NOKIA LUMIA 900 AND HAVING IT FAIL IN COMPARISON TO THE TITAN, SCREEN SIZE WISE (OTHERWISE BEATIFUL PHONE), AND THE TITAN TWO UGLY WITH THE CURVED GLASS AND BUBBLE BACK, LOOKS LIKE IM GONNA HAVE TO TRY ANDROID AGAIN (UGLY UI, BUT MORE APPS)
Thanks again.
There is no guarantee here unfortunately:] and the gold card method is a hit and miss process to say the least. You probably know that by now, as there are few threads running on this forum about this topic. The stock Cingular rom 1.10 has its own bugs (lots of them) you can find more about this by reading opening threads in the general section (Q&A). Your choice Goodluck.
