Barnacle Wifi Tether - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Hey I found this on Modaco, I tried it out, and everything works great. Hopefully no one else has posted this as a thread, if so sorry! Here is the link ----> http://goo.gl/JV7W
Baranacle Wifi Settings:
1. Change SSID - [User Preference]
2. Change Channel - 6
3. Custom Wifi Ad-hoc - NONE
4. Skip wpa_supplicant - CHECK
5. Restart Phone As Desired
Settings For Windows:
Open cmd.exe as administrator
C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1250 store=persistent
This is assuming your wireless network adapter is called "Wireless Network Connection"
Fix For Mac:
System Preferences>Network>
Under Airport select advanced>ethernet tab
Set Configure to Custom and use 1250 MTU
I did NOT figure this out, just found on Modaco.

Good find! I'll test it out when I hit home!

P.S. I actually loaded webpages, so unlike googles wifitether where it shows it works, this actually does.

Those instructions along with this morning's Barnacle update and I am fully online now.

Worked perfectly on my mac! Thanks again!

This was posted a day or two ago but it's buried deep in a thread somewhere. I tried the settings and they work for Edge but not 3G. I tried it today with an iTouch and it connected but when I tried to surf around it disconnected. :-/
I might need to play around with it again (with the new Barnacle update) if people are having good luck.

works great, thanks!

This did not work for my Vibrant trying to connect wifi to my Toshiba NB 205. Message "NAT restart Message too long" repeats every few seconds.

Worked great when I was using it with 3G, must have been the new update?

did you get that fixed?

I am seeing the NAT restart message as well.

To fix the NAT errors, you need to set your computer to use MTU of 1250. This is supposed to be fixed in the next release of Barnacle. But for now, if you make this change, it will work. See the first post in this thread for instructions. I use a Mac, but setting the MTU in System Prefs wouldn't stick for me. But this command worked:
sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1250

I noticed that I keep getting the NAT restart error on my ipod touch but I am able to continue browsing the internet. Anyone tried this with success as well or possibly tried this with an iPad?

Thanks, I will have to wait for the release, I do not have the ability to adjust MTU settings on the device I want to connect. I assume it is the normal 1400 and does not support changing it.

They just posted an update in the market. It seems to work, but I haven't tried to surf yet. I will try when I get home.

I can confirm that Barnacle is working as a wifi tether on a rooted Vibrant.
I am using Ubuntu. I did have to set MTU for wlan0 (my laptops wireless device name, yours may vary) to 1250.
In Ubuntu you can change this (gui way):
System -> Administration -> Network Tools
Then:
Wireless -> (Your Vibrants SSID) Click Edit
Set MTU to 1250 instead of automatic
Or the command line way:
ifconfig wlan0 mtu 1250
The command line way is for the device! In this case I recommend the gui way (first time ever)
Did a speed test: 1.01 Down .33 Up Ping: 128ms (A little lower than I am used to being tethered, but it works and that's all I need)

Can confirm the current version in the market works *IF* you set your MTU to 1200 in windows, to do this w/ Windows 7:
(From an elevated command prompt):
Code:
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1200 store=persistent
Just did a speedtest while tethered, 3.58mb/s down, 1.28mb/s up w/ 105ms ping!

It's not working with the iPad using 3G. I can still connect using Edge but it's really slow.
Still waiting for a total fix.

I get the "NAT restart" error when I'm on 3G but it works fine one EDGE

New version just went live in the Market.

***HOWTO: Internet Sharing over WiFi*** (Updated 08-Nov-2007)

I have figured out how to use Internet Sharing over WiFi, which essentially makes my Hermes an Access Point.
Do the following:
1) Open Settings->Internet Sharing. Enable IS for Bluetooth PAN.
2) Change HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing\PrivateInterface to "TIACXWLN1" (for the Hermes). It should currently be "BTPAN1".
3) Open Settings-> Connections -> Wi-Fi. Select Network Adapters tab. Click IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi.
4) Enter IP address 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Click OK.
5) Select Wireless tab. Add New.. to add the Network name for your ad-hoc network (I prefer "adhoc")
6) Set the client computer to use the same ad-hoc network. Client will receive an IP address from the device (don't need to manually set the IP).
And it works!
Interestingly, while IS was enabled, wifi stayed on and connected when the phone went to standby mode. Normally wifi turns off to save battery during standby. I imagine this will drain your battery in a hot minute, so bring your charger.
UPDATE (28-Oct-2007): Attached are some more beta releases of patched intshare.dll. I've created versions for most of the adapter names people have requested. By renaming this dll to intshare.dll and copying it to \Windows, Internet Sharing will use TIACXWLN1 (or whichever dll you use) when Bluetooth PAN is selected. I.e., if you use this, you will not need to make the registry changes above.
This will handle the registry part, but of course you'll still need to set up the ad-hoc network on your own.
UPDATE (03-Nov-2007): I've attached a beta version of the patched Internet Sharing app. It's in its own cab so it won't overwrite your existing IS. This app replaces Bluetooth PAN with 802.11b/g Wireless Ethernet. No registry hacking required. This app is well suited to replace the MS version on cooked ROMs.
If you use an adapter other than TIACXWLN1 then replace intshare.dll just as before.
UPDATE (08-Nov-2007): Attached is v 0.9.1 of the Internet Sharing Mod. This update addresses the 10 minute disconnect bug most people have experienced.
best,
fluxist
This is the first thing I'll try when i'm at home again!
I can't believe this! Waiting for this since i got my Hermes. Thx for this development. This is the greatest effort since Hard-SPL and WM6 upgrade.
Now I can connect my XBOX360 to the Internet without starting my PC and sharing it over PC-LAN. USB-Charger is at the Front of the XBOX360.
I hope it will work.
You said the Max-Connections can be reworked. Does this mean it will support Ad-Hoc AND WLAN-Routing to many recepients too?
This worked for me too on a Kaiser/TYTN II
I'm doing some additional experimentation to see what exactly this can do - for instance to replace a bluetooth connection to a laptop with a wifi one?

not sure what you mean by replacing the connection. With ICS, obviously you cant share your connection over BT while sharing it over WIFI. and you can normally use wifi to connect to another computer by using an ad-hoc connection and manually entering a private ip on the same subnet for each computer.
this is awesome. worked perfectly for me.
After trying to stuff around with a proxy server for days and then you come along with something as simple as this....

Were you able to use more than one client connected?
I'll admit..when I saw this my first thought was that this was another "How can I do internet sharing via wifi" and the title was just misleading..instead I find myself very impressed with your accomplishment. Very well done! As a "hack" untill you figure out how to mod the dll which I'm sure is only a matter of time now that you have pointed everyone in the right direction, you can export the registry key for both the Bluetooth adapter and the Wifi one and "import" whichever one you want to use at a given time...it's not pretty but it should work.
Some issues of concern would be that the AP is wide open and can be connected to by anyone with no password etc...the bluetooth pairing allowed some security but using the wifi doesn't have the same shared key protection...or am I missing something obvious?

When I used it I was only able to get one client to connect, however there is a reg value, HKLM\Comm\BTPAN1\Parms\MaxConnections that may help if it is changed from 1 to 2 (or whatever). But I haven't tried.
Interestingly, while IS was enabled, wifi stayed on and connected when the phone went to standby mode. Normally wifi turns off to save battery during standby. So that's a good thing, although I imagine this will drain your battery in a hot minute, so bring your charger.
I was going to release a patched intshare.dll so that the normal Internet Sharing utility can do this, but I'm having trouble changing the section addresses in the dll to the right values after I add data. If anyone knows how to do this PM me and I'll give you the details.

thank you.
this work actually stemmed from my trying to share my phone's tethered connection with another client. by which i mean, my laptop is in a cafe online through my 8525 using Internet Sharing(IS) over usb. and i want to provide a connection, through wifi or ethernet, to my gfriends laptop. this actually isnt normally possible b/c WM IS and XP Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) both have 192.168.0.1 hard-coded as the gateway IP. so the phone uses that IP to give my laptop a connection, and my laptop tries to use the same IP with ICS. anyway, it fails because of this. i was able to get past that problem by going into Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Network Adapters -> Remote-NDIS and manually setting 192.168.1.1. This lead to the breakthrough with regards to wifi. prior to that id been trying all different ways to have the wifi adapter spoof the bt pan, however i could never get dhcp to assign an IP to the client. this is what it took.
and it's great that DHCP does in fact work here. it makes it dead easy for any arbitrary client to get online. just join the adhoc network as if it were an AP.
anyway, security-wise the ad-hoc network can use WEP or WPA, so security doesn't have to be a problem. the procedures for doing this are the same as normal.
and i haven't tried that reg key to enable multiple clients. but it looked like an obvious choice. i'll leave that as an exercise for the reader

I ran into same issue with XP internet sharing. Another workaround is to have a linux machine do NAT( since you can specify the IP used there) to whatever other clients you want and have it connected via bluetooth dun or bluetooth PAND (which is the solution I use to give internet to my replaytv and a couple of laptops in the house)...my edge connection is my main internet feed..a cacheing proxy such as wwoffle, squid of my personal preference "polipo" helps alot to when using gprs/edge etc since it helps with the latency.

Impact on BT?
What a brill find. Well done.
Does it break anything with bluetooth?
Tx
can someone elaborate what this is for, maybe give a sample scenario on using this?
Is this basically allowing a computer to use the internet connection of the pda phone (ie EVDO, 1RxTT, etc.) through wifi, instead of bluetooth or USB cable? (ie tethering?)
if someone manages to get this working with xbox 360 make a tutorial plx ;D

thats what i wanna know , could i use my hsdpa connection via wifi to my psp?
I'll do a tutorial when i'm at home again. Maybe somebody with know-how can make a cab-file v1.0 for this "WLAN-Modem hack".
This surely will be a great app.
yes, your xbox and your psp should be able to connect just fine, as long as they support ad-hoc wireless (which i imagine they must). this hack will allow the phone to act like any normal wifi access point. the only difference is the client has to be seraching for ad-hoc networks in addition to normal APs.
the difficulty with creating a cab file at this point is that the registry setting is not persistent. that is, it must be set each time you enable IS. the setting is lost every time IS starts. this is why i am trying to patch the dll - so wifi will work as a normal, additional option in Internet Sharing (and hopefully this should be ready soon).

when you say click "IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi" do you mean the wifi network adapters in my case would be "tiacxwln compatible wireless ethernet"? im trying it on a 6700 WM5
I would LOVE to get this working on my TMO WM6 Wing, but I'm having issues:
1) Open Settings->Internet Sharing. Enable IS for Bluetooth PAN.
Got it - except on my device it's Programs -> accessories -> IS
2) Change HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing\PrivateInterface to "TIACXWLN1" (it should currently be "BTPAN1").
Check - but is the T1ACXWLN1 device specific? If so, how can I find the interface ID on my device?
3) Open Settings-> Connections -> Wi-Fi. Select Network Adapters tab. Click IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi.
For me it's settings -> connections -> network cards, but I don't have an IEEE 802.11 listed. I connected to an existing AP, and found that my 'SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter' does receive a DHCP address, so I tried changing it to 192.168.1.1...
4) Enter IP address 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Click OK.
5) Select Wireless tab. Add New.. to add the Network name for your ad-hoc network (I prefer "adhoc"
Found this and set up my WING-FI network.
6) Set the client computer to use the same ad-hoc network. Client will receive an IP address from the device (don't need to manually set the IP).
The client PC connects to WING-FI, but never receives an IP address...
What could I be doing wrong? Is it the hardware ID in the registry? I've created the network with WPA, then after the connection problems, with no security - but still no change.
Thanks!!

Very likely the string TIACXWLN1 needs to be something different. Check HKLM\Software\WZCSV\Parameters\Interfaces\
There should be a key there with the name of your wireless adapter. It should end in "1".
And if not there, it should also be visible under HKLM\Comm\
Let us know how it works out.
EDIT: I just noticed you typed T1ACXWLN1. The string must be TIACXWLN1. That's "i" not one.

I own a PPC6700 as well and I was able to get it working no problem other than the fact that our wireless adapter is not the same as the one mentioned. The reg edit is the same it's just the first network adapter in the list when you create the network settings.

Barnacle Wifi Tethering on Mini

Hi everybody. Now that I have rooted my mini I could install Barnacle wifi tethering for connecting to my laptop. But after long trials I am still not able to connect my phone with my laptop.
Can anybody with prior experience help me in this regard
For wired tethering I use Easytether which works great.
I havent tryed yet, but try setting the WLAN interface to "tiwlan0" and/or try skipping wpa_supplicant

Wonderful. It is connected with your suggestions. Many thanks.
Partha
Thanks, I also got this to work. What I wonder now is if it is possible to have security for this tether. When we choose skip wpa_supplicant then the security is disabled and it is an open network. When traveling and visiting public places I would be somewhat uncomfortable to have this open network. Barnacle does provide the WEP security option, but in order for this app to work with the x10 mini we need to choose skip wpa_supplicant which opens up the network to all. Any ideas?
I had to change WAN-setting & disable security too to even find the WiFi network.
However, when I connect it doesn't work. I see the in Barnacle "traffic"-pane that my computer sends requests when I try to load a webpage in the browser. But the down-traffic won't increase. Anyone know the next step in troubleshooting?
i left all the settings stock except turned on skip wpa supplicant. mine works great i ran ping- t all night and only lost 15 packs 0% loss, which is less loss than my friends cable internet.
when i first got it working i was using a mix of settings and i had to hit associate every 5 min or my laptop would stop having access to the internet but still remain connected to the network. so i just reinstalled it and it works great now.
This feature is one of the main reason why i bought an android device.
Edit:
after a few more days of pissing about with barnacle i realized that it cuts out when ever the phone is not being charged and falls a sleep and as long as i keep the phone awake its fine. the solution i came to was to open music player and play a song with the volume off and that keeps the phone from going into sleep mode. i know there's supposed to be a setting to stop wifi from turning off while in sleep but i have a branded rom and it doesn't appear i have the option. hope this helps someone.
There are two versions out there, 0.4.2 and 0.5.0. What version do you guys run?
anyone share the settings for barnacle wifi tethering. Its not working in my rooted x10 mini.

It works for me now using Barnacle Wifi Tether 0.6.7 and a SE X10 mini 2.1. Had the same problem before. Now my settings are:

Channel: 6
"Skip wpa_supplicant" - unchecked
Wan: tiwlan0
Hi all.
BarnacleWifi worked fine for two weeks but until I setup new android vertion 2.1.1.A.0.6 he doesn't.
Anyone try it with this one ?

Edit: I can see the network on windows7 but when I try to connect, it freeze on "Identification" and I never have ip adress
DHCP doesn't work.
Same here :-(.
It finaly works on my mini with 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware.
On MiniCM-1.0.0-Alpha2, Froyo Cyanogen 6.1 port for the mini "Rom"
Dont forget skip WPA supplicant.

Devilo.
On X10 mini Barnacle works without skip wpa suplicant! After a few trys and som Observation I found the Problem. Every baconinginterval the adhoc Network have a other MAC. I try to set a fix BSSID in Barnacle but now i can't find the Network so i undo it.
After some Trys i found a workaround:
1. Start Barnacle
2. Press Associate
3. Try to connect with your Computer
4. After entering password, your Computer try to connect, press 1 time again Associate
My Settings are:
WEP Encyrpting: Enabled
Skip wpa_supplicant: Disabled
Auto Associate: Disabled
WAN: rmnet0
still not conneting
It's still not working on my x10mp 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware. My PC (Debian or Win7 have the same problem) still doesn't connect.
Barnacle on phone is showing no errors. PC is finding the wireless network but can't connect. Looks like it does not get an answer from phone (no IP address assigned).
I surely have tried all the advices from this forum and any google search gave me.
Same problem here guys - this was the reason for rooting my x10 mini

[Q] Wireless Tethering Issues

Hello all I am paying for a wireless tethering plan yet the mobile hotspot seems to time out every 12 seconds. It will lode a web site usually half way before my data just drops to 0 kb/s and I have about 4 bars of lte. I don't know if there is a way to fix this, I have tried turning it on and off and rebooting but nothing seems to help this issue. When it stops responding to my computer the device name changes to a * and then it will not send data anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I'm running into the same problem as well. I can tether through USB just fine but whenever I use the mobile hotspot my internet starts to timeout. I'll be lucky if I can go 5 minutes without it timing out.
Are either of you using Tasker? I had a very similar problem where I was using Tasker to determine when I was home by toggling Wifi to check for my home network and then setting sound profiles. I found that tasker would toggle the wifi which caused my wifi tether to stop working. It would look like it was on, but wouldn't send data. I fixed it by having tasker stop toggling wifi when running my wifi tether app..
Any smart action profiles set? Turn it off & see if it continues.

Mmh, I've got the EU RAZR (don't have to pay to route my connection where I want) and the Wireless Tethering is working flawlessly (HSPA+).
Maybe they haven't used the same software OR they've used the same software but there's a problem when LTE is ON.
Anyway, the EU RAZR is about to get an OTA...and VZW one should as well.

You may be on to something here. I'm going to try to wifi tether on 3G to see what happens.
I'm finding tethering is better with 3g than 4g for some reason.

Setting the data connection to 3G didn't help. It took a little bit longer to time out this time but it still happened.
So I kind of figured out why I'm getting timed out, but I'm no closer to a solution.
When I tether through USB, 4G will stay connected. Nothing wrong with it.
When I tether through WiFI, I time out because the 4G connection drops after a few seconds and when 4G is re-established. The 4G connection does not have data, even though it says 4G. I cannot access data on my phone or on any tethered device.
When I turn off the mobile hotspot, then my 4G will drop again and when 4G is re-established, then data starts to work again.
edit:
Maybe I have a faulty phone. I'm going to try to exchange it this weekend.

I don't have the ability to set a custom DNS server on the Fire so I can't check this at the moment. I'll report back when I can verify if this is the issue with a laptop.
I have a EU razr and I also have problems with Wifi tether - my computer can connect fine but I get "limited connectivity" and no Internet access. Worked without issue on SE Arc with same provider and APN settings.
What other Hotspot apps are out there that hopefully work better?
Same issue.
From what I have been reading on other forums this is a known issue that Motorola is working on and the ETA for the fix is no more than two weeks. We'll see.
This seems to work
I tried the steps below and haven't had a drop in the last 15 minutes. I'm not a network guy so I don't know the reasoning behind why this worked for me, but so far so good. If you're not comfortable messing with the Registry, then don't try this. I used a spare PC to test it first.
Change the Default Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) Size Settings
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NdisWan\Parameters
3. Add a Protocols subkey (if it does not already exist). To do so:
a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
b. Type Protocols, and then press ENTER.
4. Add a 0 (zero) subkey to the Protocols subkey. To do so:
a. Click the Protocols subkey that you created step 3.
b. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
c. Type 0 (zero), and then press ENTER.
5. Click the 0 subkey that you created in step 4.
6. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
7. In the Value data box, type ProtocolType, and then click OK.
8. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
9. In the Value data box, type 800, make sure Hexadecimal is selected under Base, and then click OK.
10. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
11. Type PPPProtocolType, and then press ENTER.
12. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
13. In the Value data box, type 21, make sure Hexadecimal is selected under Base, and then click OK.
14. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
15. Type ProtocolMTU, and then press ENTER.
16. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
17. Under Base, click Decimal, type the MTU size that you want in the Value data box, and then click OK. ( I used 1400)
18. Quit Registry Editor.
19. Restart your computer.
On the Razr: Open Mobile Hotspot Settings-> Configure Mobile Hotspot. At the bottom, change the Client (DHCP) start address to 172.168.20.10

Been having similar problems. Downloaded the latest beta of Android wifi Tether from here http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list and everything works now.

Any updates to this? Having the same problem and can't seem to make it work. Don't have a rooted RAZR so can't try the download link.
Hey! I used to have problems for a while with my tethering as well and ANY device I connected just wouldn't have access to the internet. I tried a lot of different apps, methods etc., to get it working and nothing seemed to work. But one day, I tried my own thing. I simply connected my device via wifi tethering (I don't use USB, but this should still work), and then, after it was connected, I simply opened my phones web browser to make sure I could access a data connection in the first place. And lo and behold, my tethering is working just fine!
So to put simply, what you should try is:
1) Connect your device via tethering (I used wifi, but usb should work too!).
2) Make sure you actually have a data connection! And then, open the web browser on your phone, and go to a web page (I just go to google )
3) Enjoy your tethering.
I hope this works for everyone, and not just me! XD
The last update from verizon fixed this issue.

Logcat will help you.
If you are on linux:
Code:
adb logcat -d > /tmp/logcat.txt
grep -i 'wifi\|wpa' /tmp/logcat.txt
On windows, use "adb logcat" saving the output to a text file, like my example above. Try to find strings containing wifi and wpa (or wpa_supplicant).
This way you will know what is really happening.

huh can you explain it a little more better, where i have to write this above? i am on windows...on my atrix i have terminal emuluator, have i there to write this?
There have been several reports over the months of people having trouble connecting to one manufacturers routers..........may be Belkin, but a cannot remember for sure. Also, if you are trying to connect to wireless N at 5GHz, try wireless G instead. I believe the Atrix will not connect at 5GHz, and the symptoms of trying to do so are exactly what you describe. If I try to connect to my router on the 5GHz wireless N band I get the same results as you. One other possibility is the password length. I have read that you should keep it under 8 characters with the Atrix, so maybe try shortening the password, or try connecting unsecured to test this theory out. I am using an Asus RT-N66U right now, but have previously used 2 Netgear routers without issue also. My work uses Cisco repeaters and routers and I have no issues there either.

Just a heads up, but I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi at home just fine. What kind of encryption are you using?

HotSpot / Tethering Settings:
(You set this up to your liking, I entered everything in case the program needs all the fields. I used my ssid, encryption type wpa2-psk, my password is my phone number, and Wifi Channel 1.)
Device Settings:
Interface: wlan0 (Default)
Method: 3 - HostApd
Drivers: nl80211
The rest I left alone. Please report if it works for you too. Thanks!

No prob. We're here to help each other! :good:
I've been using this app for about 2 months now without any problems, up until about 2 weeks ago. Now if I'm in default LTE mode, my laptop and tablet can connect to the hotspot, but I can't open a webpage in Firefox on either device, it just times out. I've verified that Firefox on my phone can access them. Also, I can open a cmd prompt on the laptop and get successful pings on google.com, but it still times out on the laptop or tablet.
If I reboot the phone to be on CDMA/EVDO then everything works fine, just slower. I'm on Sprint. I sent an email to the developer, and he stated he didn't think it was a problem in the app itself but advised me to check the APN settings. I can't seem to locate them on this phone.
Anyone else having this problem, or have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Try changing your DNS to 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 4.2.2.3 4.2.2.4 etc etc

Didn't change anything. Re-reading my original post, I realize I wasn't clear on a point:
I can ping google.com and get replies from a command prompt on my laptop when I'm attached to the wifi router and the phone is in LTE mode, but my web browser (firefox) will not display the google home page. If I select CDMA mode on the phone, then I can get to google from firefox.
Since I'm getting ping replies, I doubt DNS is the culprit. Seems like it's something with port 80. I'm starting to think Sprint did something to block the app on the LTE network.
Just to check, I reset my phone to factory default and re-installed the app. Same results.
Anyone else having problems with this while on LTE?
Thanks.

I know the app says if you have issues to turn on (or off a certain feature -don't remember which one is it now)

I contacted the developer Fabio, and he thinks I need to change some settings in the APN IPV4 protocol. Problem is, I can't seem to find where to change the settings on this phone. They should be in settings>connections>more networks>mobile networks, but the options are not on that screen. I'm really starting to regret getting this phone. I love the phone itself, but Sprint did a few things to "dumb down" the ROM that just plain piss me off. OK, I get they took out native tethering so they could sell that option. I don't like it, but at least it makes some kind of sense. They also took out the option in contacts to send a incoming call from a given contact straight to voicemail. That just makes no sense whatsoever. Also, I don't like there are no custom ROMs for this phone. If I could get this phone with a plain vanilla Android without all the Sprint mods, I'd be in heaven.
Anyway, does ANYONE have Wifi Tethering working on this phone (LPH-600) with Sprint and LTE?

Try APN Backup Restore, do a backup, gab the XML and open it with notepad or text wranger or any text editor to see if you find the setting that needs to be changed.
