Recently I am going through almost all the post regarding Dell streak. And at Madaco there was this newbie who claimed to have 2.1 on his streak ( now that sound funny), a newbie with 2.1 lol anyways I think almost everyone including some senior members may I include Paul as well have given him hard time .Finally every one asked him to post the pictures of his streak and guess what he posted his dell streak.
Everyone’s jaws are still on floor
Here is the link http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-2-1-for-streak-is-coming-closer-than-before/
Sorry for being sarcastic
Edit Just checked it this guy even said i have Built 6267 1.6, he put pics of that as well
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/314140/new-rom-v-6267/
I think this guy is 2 steps ahead from all of us or may be 3 people who are still on 3xxxx
He said he has a friend who is working on the Streak development team. Seems pretty legit to me.
Don't count on him leaking it though as he "doesn't want to ruin his friends career", which is pretty good of him tbh. I don't think i'd have that level of self control

Considering the Dell Streak Development team consists of about 8 people, don't you think it would be Dell's priority to see which dev's friend is leaking images? They did say they are active on websites concerning the Streak.
I wouldn't have that level of self control. Release it please!

That is the great thing about HTC their images leak on purpose.... Dell is not handling this well at all, but what choice do we have for a 5" device?
Dell Streak "UI Team" has 8 people. His contact could be someone from one of many, many people working on the Streak.
why do the only allow six icons on 2.1
Creating system.img for 2.1, is it possible?
Is it possible to create a system.img based on 2.1 or 2.2 from android sources for Dell Streak? Has anybody tried it? I don't need the Google propietary parts, just to OSS part...
Has anybody tried? Any reference docs for it?
Thanks in advance,

I'm trying it now again, now I'm back..
I'm trying the codearoura git, basic instructions on their site..
https://www.codeaurora.org/xwiki/bin/QAEP/
also have a look at the cyanogenmod wiki for some decent building instructions, that can be adapted.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Building_from_source
plus theres this
http://pdk.android.com/online-pdk/guide/build_system.html
so far not playing nicely, and progress is hampered because I can't get fastboot boot to work (which is a way of temporarily flashing a kernel and ramdisk) so I have to manually flash the boot.img every time it doesnt boot.

So I bought my PayG Streak from 02 the other day.
I knew it was locked to 02 but I figured someone smart enough here would find an unlock.
I have the mental capacity to take on such a task myself but Ive never attempted it before.
I put a T-mobile sim into my streak and it asks for network unlock but if i Hit cancel it takes me straight into my fully working phone (bar the sim).
So my question is, How is the Dell streak locked? Is it via a chip or piece of hardware inside the device? or is it purely based on the ROM side of things?
Considering I can get into the phone and use wifi etc without the sim would it be possible to create a bit of software that executes and enables the sim to work? every time you reboot the device per say).
And Is anyone in here actually working on this? I'd like to know to share idea's on exploiting the device to allow any sim.

Checked and there is nothing regarding unlocking Dell Streak.
Just spam from spences10
PS: admins delete please this advertisement.
No it doesn’t say anything about unlocking the DELL Streak but it does explain the difference between ‘root’ and ‘carrier unlock’ maybe I should have been a bit more specific in my reply, I am in no way affiliated with www.theunlockr.com and was just trying to be helpful as I recall an explanation between the two on there.
I could only put up the main site as that is all I could remember if it wasn’t any help next time try this www.Google.com

Hang on a minute youth, thats a bit harsh! If you go to 'Unlock my phone' they tell you they can unlock almost and phone. Its definately not spam! Its definately worth a try contacting these guys to see what they can do for us Streak owners.
Well done spences10, thanks for contributing to the community
hey guys, hopefully this isnt a repost of a common older thread that i couldnt find. im new to android and have only been playing around on friend's devices and i've finally decided that i need a new phone. i'm currently using a nokia n95-3, very good device despite its age. i've read a lot of reviews on the streak and there are quite a few mixed reviews out there.
so the reason for my post here is to find out, should i get a streak. the reasons i like it right now is the screen size and android. and what i'm looking to ask you guys is what is your most favourite thing about the streak and also you biggest grievance with it. i figured coming here to ask would be best since everyone is a streak user so please also include the length of time you have been using or used the streak. thanks for your help guys and look forward to the input.
can anybody make a video with all the steps to install a rom on the dell streak with the fastboot and everything some of us just dont get it
If I can follow the very clear instructions on this forum on how to install a custom rom and not have a problem with it... it can't be that hard.
So if you find that you're still unsure on how to do it and need a video, maybe its something you shouldn't be attempting in the first place....
Theres a video for every other phone why cant there be one for the streak

Can you post the link so I kno where to go to do it

Firstly you need to root your streak (i used superoneclick), then you will need to put your streak into fastboot mode to install clockworkmod recovery or streakmod
Once thats done you will need to check what baseband you're on and what version of android you're on (i was on bb 319 and stock Dell 2.2) which means that i could flash DJ Steve's 1.8.1 custom rom straight over mine and it worked straight away. Now i have read that certain basebands have caused problems.
The you need to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003525 and then follow instructions there and that should be about it.
There are plenty of threads on here explaining in fine detail every step that you need to do, some people have gone to a lot of trouble writing tutorials ... all you need to do is have a quick search.
All the info is there you just need to look for it.....
Trust me it isn't that hard cos if I can do it without any trouble, I'm sure most people can.
i can asure you that when english is not your native language, it's not that easy.
i did it whit my old htc artemis, but i'm still holding it off with my streak. It's working great now with 2.2 and i'm afraid to brick it. The only thing i've done is rooting it for the blinking leds for sms/mms notification. It was a must for me.

I not doubting that it can be very difficult when english isn't your native language, but judging by the grammar and spelling I'm guessing that English is their native language or they are very competent, in which case it shouldn't be that hard.
But the point I'm trying to make is that it seems to be that the poster seems too lazy to search and find the answers on how to do what they want, I mean most people on here will spend the time and read through countless threads to find out exactly what they need to know. I know that the people who write the tutorials put a lot of time and effort into making them easy to follow ... hey if I can do it....
So if I go back to my earlier comment if you can't follow the comprehensive tutorials on here, maybe its something you shouldn't be attempting anyway... just my opinion...

Actually, it can be a real pain in the rump. When I did the recovery install of 322 I spent three nights trying to get it to work. I had issues with rooting, had to use the 1.5.5 version of superoneclick and run it while my phone was restarting to get it to work.
Then when trying to restore from the recovery files I got stuck at the MD5 checksum thing. That was a real pain. It turned out that the tool you use to overwrite/rewrite the checksum was missing from my streak.
I installed a new version of the tool (who's name I'm forgetting now) to make it work.
So yes it can be very difficult. I have programing knowledge but the commands are Linux based and may actually be Japanese.
It'd be awesome if there were a single guide/how to video to follow.
Search before you submit
You ask for a single guide and or video, than use the following link to find it: www.google.com, there are multiple very good single guides how to go through the steps to install a custom ROM. In fact there is a certain web page by DJ_Steve that actually has a link in it that guides through installing his custom ROM, there is also a video, but hey if you want to have your cake and eat too, I guess asking for it to be re-created just for you isn’t that selfish.......
Am almost sure that if you search within XDA for DJ_Steve and click on the link in his signature block might even take you to his web page, but asking for someone to create a video for you isn't that selfish.....

Lol, and I used google extensively in my search for instructions to do a recovery install on my streak. I pulled some parts from DJ Steve's many postings and website, others from android forums in their Dell Streak sections, and still others from just android and linux forums.
It took all of that and raw determination for me to get my streak to 2.2.2.
Don't take offense to someone asking a question.
If you know there is a link for it share it with the person. Maybe that would take you 2 minutes but without the person knowing the correct keywords they may spend hours searching.
I just feel like a video could avoid alot of bricked phones iphone people always making videos whether its easy r hard. All im saying is a video would help alot of us if I knew how to do it I would have been made a video

This is my point... Most people will spend the time and search for the info they need, it's really not that hard on here and google. You did it..... And you didn't expect anyone else to do all the work for you.
I know I spent hours looking at various threads and it was only then was I brave enough to attempt to put a custom rom on my streak, and it was the best decision I ever made.
@deedomond
Just go to http://streakdroid.com and then go to guides, there is a comprehensive guide on every step of the process on there. Or if you don't want to flash a custom rom, or maybe update to a newer stock rom, there is plenty of guides on here telling you how to do it... All you have to do is spend a little time, they are not that hard to find.
I rooted the only problem im having is installing clockwordmod

You need to get the streak into fastboot. Then follow this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326&highlight=Fastboot
Come on, lets not knock on the guy. he has a good point. A video tutorial would be nice. I also find it alot easier to watch a step by step video rather then reading something. I totally agree with him.

Same here! I'm with you a 100% on this! I never had a problem rooting phones especially HTC phones. When I bought the streak I realized things were not so easy and found it to be more difficult to work with the device. to many commands and flashing of software to remember lol.
Is there a chronologically compiled list of Build Number available online? I am looking for the history of 2.2 , their build Number and a summary of what each build contain.
thanks.
Found it: A history of builds can be found here
I don't think people need to be told where the wiki is. Plus you said you wanted to know how different each version was? For that you would need to google froyo revisions or eclair revisions or android 2.2.0 2.2.1 2.2.2. Those are basically the same throughout all android devices.

What is Irksome, is people asking questions that can be found by searching and said questions and answers clog up the forum. Truly amazing thing out there in the World Wide Web called Google search use it.
Good for you, now.go.google yourself.last ive checked no one pays you to tell others what to post. SERVED
Served? Lol thanks for finding what has been on the top of the forums since the beginning. As for putting words in your mouth, maybe next time you could be more clear as to what you're looking for so it doesn't happen again?

Hello, I got my Dell streak 3 days ago and I love the device (rooted and unlocked already, enough to use-it as a day to day phone and ditch my nexus one).
I do however miss the active development the Nexus one had, since back in my earlier IT days I did some linux kernel dev, I was wondering if there is any pointers to get started and what are the biggest issues encountered (missing drivers, etc) from the current gingerbread releases and how could I contribute.
This seems to be the only gingerbread development thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091236

Ignore jitin02. He's annoyed because the Streak's primary developer, DJ Steve, *****slapped him on twitter after pissing DJ Steve off by begging for a ROM.
You're better off asking DJ Steve himself what he needs help with, rather than relying on secondhand information. maximoz I believe linked to the appropriate thread in the development forum already.

Oh, I forgot to mention that jitin02 gets a little touchy when the topic is brought up, as you can see in his response to you and I. I wonder if it's because I told the OP to not listen to someone who knows just enough about ROMs to be dangerous and to go to the source instead?
pibleck,
please feel free to get involved with the GB code, we do have the alpha code from them, but there's a couple of stumbling blocks.
I'm having serious issues with how Dell are using the sensors code.
they are using a sensors_daemon to feed the input into one device, which isn't how the GB system works, so at a low level the sensors all work fine, but android isnt playing at all with them.
What I'd like to do (but am struggling with) is a way to get rid of this silly system that appears to use "misc drivers" and set them up as standard dev/input ones individually instead.
best to discuss it on irc #dellstreak or Pm me here..
I'll PM you incase you dont see this post.
Jitin unfortunately is one of those people who sees a leg sticking out by the end of a wall and runs around screaming that people have been murdered and no-ones doing anything about it..
rather than going and investigating for himself and realising its just someone having a quite snooze out of the sun
