Alright I have the latest Group build, but with it, the software keys (home, menu, back, search) don't light up. I saw there was a fix for it, but how do I apply it?
Thanks!

The fix doesn't really work in my experience. The softkeys light up at weird intervals post fix and never when its actually useful. But if you want to try it download the zip file from the FAQ page and put it in the root of your SD card. Then boot to recovery and flash it. I ended up flashing the fix for the fix though cause it got annoying.
Good luck.

if you just wait your better off, once kaos actually fixes it it will be fine the soft_key_fix.zip is kind of a temporary fluke fix it just makes them light up in general not when they should.
For me it works only in my room don't know why but works only there maybe its because the sensor

Ok so my Fascinate is obviously rooted and I have the Frost theme on here and that's all I've done. I had SetCPU on here running the minimal setting recommend. I decided to take SetCPU off and when I did my screen shut off but the bottom buttons would still light up. I pulled the battery a few times and that seemed to fix it... or so I thought.
Every now and then the screen will randomly black out or the media scanner thing will be running in the notification bar, once I pull the battery it seems to fix it. I'm kinda lost on what to do, any ideas guys?

Do you have a backup made? What kernal do you have installed. If its an overclpcked one flash the stock kernal. Then go from there.

Weren't you the one that posted the "How to fix SETCPU death" thread? You posted pretty much the same thing and said you had fixed it??

I was gonna say this too. I thought you mentioned needing to keep it in conservative mode to stop this from happening. Or to boot it up kill the process and try uninstalling it that way. It makes sense that you couldnt uninstall something like that while it is running without some issues.
i have the same problem and have no set cpu installed i had jt's kernal and set cpu but flashed the stalk kernal through odin back on and deleted set cpu any would help be great
Ugh I had my first fascinate do this. After much trial and error I decided that it wasn't any certain mod. It was just the phone its self. If its doing this I would recommended taking it back. Use Odin to flash back to stock. Hide the superuser app. Get a new phone while in ur 30 days and start all ovwr

well i just did wipe data/cache so maybe
Ya I was the one that posted it. It fixed it but then last night it started all over again :-( I went through Rom manger and fixed permissions. Will see what happens

EDIT: Well just found out it is limited to a short.....Which is around 32 seconds.... So 32 seconds is the max you will have.
FILES AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.
Ok after going through a lot of lines of code and i mean a lot, I give you all
Extended Soft Key Backlight (15 seconds to be exact)
If using a theme with a white status/notification bar (bubby's rom) then i would wait till i make this custom for it... This will give you white text in the status/notification bar.
I am using JT's clean rom and it works fine.
If something happens to your phone.... NOT MY FAULT
Now for the release
1. MAKE A BACKUP (JUST IN CASE)
2. INSTALL THE MOD OF YOUR CHOICE (10 SECONDS,15 SECONDS, OR 32 SECONDS (WHICH IS MAX)) WITH THE "APPLY SDCARD:UPDATE.ZIP" OPTION IN CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
3. WIPE DALVIK CACHE IN THE "ADVANCED" MENU IN CLOCKWORK RECOVERY. IF YOU DO NOT WIPE DALVIK CACHE YOU WILL NOT GET THE UPDATE
4. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FASCINATE THAT HAS 15 SECONDS OF SOFT KEY BACKLIGHT!
5. It will take awhile to boot (1-2 mins.), so don't be worried
I plan on adding different versions of this, 10 seconds, and a really long time one... If I get enough requests.
Time to get some sleep now.
If you want to donate, The button for it is in my signature.
Very nice!
Did you use the .ko in the hardware file? I was looking at this. Excellent work!

no i had to edit the services.jar file. I was trying to do the source files but JT told me he thought it had to do with the services.jar file.... He's always right.
I went through 100+ files and a bunch of code (in HEX) to get it working.

Not sure... I can try to take a look. What would you want it changed to?
this won't affect BLN will it?
Broken download link.
Wife will be super excited when I get home and flash this on her phone.
Tying this to the screen backlight would be clutch, but you can always flash a matching softkey timeout to your preferred backlight setting, assuming multiple durations are made available
awesome, fantastic work!

this is a lame question, but am I supposed to rename the zip at all? I transferred to the SD card, ran the sd update.zip in clockwork recovery, wiped dalvik cache, and it's still timing out every 3-4 seconds.
Thanks
which one did you flash?

The 15 second zip, attached to the first post. I just tried flashing the zip directly, phone is rebooting now, we'll see if that did the trick.
Did some searching and didnt find anyone with this problem. I have the lockscreen with the ring but the 4 apps to choose from aren't there and it seems to not care that I change between the 7 available different lockacreens. Anyone have a fix for this or experience it yet?
Would have posted in the BAMF thread but it says i need more posts befote I can.
Did you try rebooting?
First time I loaded, it didn't show up, but after a reboot, it's been working fine.
Reboot didn't work, grr.. I wonder if it has anything to do with spare parts?

One more question...
Did you do the update through Rom Manager or Clockwork Recovery?
Reason I ask, I noticed when I used Rom Manger the first time, not all everything worked correctly and things were missing.
So I restored my backup then went into clockwork recovery and installed the zip.
Then everything worked properly. I know others have reported odd issues when trying to flash through Rom Manager as opposed to Clockwork.
Not sure if that will help you, but you can always give it a try.
I wiped everything and used clockwork not rom manager
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Sorry I couldn't be anymore help.
Only thing I could think to do is try and reload the rom again.
About to do that now
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Yea took me 2 full clears/installs to get 2.05 installed correctly and fully
this is so frustrating, i did a reinstall and it worked for like 10 seconds then stopped working again.
i'm restoring my backup with everything that was working right now so i have a phone to use for the rest of the day but tm i'm gonna load up the froyo radio in case i wanna go back to das bamf 1.6.3 until some more of these kinks are worked out (random force closes of apps i wasn't even aware were running lmao)
thanks for all the help as always guys, this rom has SO much potential its amazing.
Would like to update this: the bamf remix Rom after a full wipe fixed literally every issue I had with the old ROM.
Best of luck to other early adopters, and these guys are doing a fantastic job..

I had this issue after trying to solve a separate issue. The lock screen works in conjuction with a group of other operations, and if one of those other operations is stopped/removed/frozen/whatever, it messes up the lockscreen. I had to do a full data wipe and reinstall. Haven't had an issue since.
Yeah I had the problem once again. Driving me nuts
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I have been having this same problem since coming from 2.0-4 to 2.0-5 and remix.
Almost thought I was the only one with this problem. I did a full wipe twice before loading remix. Worked for a while until I fixed permissions then rebooted. No more lockscreen icons
No idea what I did but now my lock screen is back to normal.
I hope this isn't something that happens all the time with this ROM. that would get super annoying
did you have any issues with previous versions?
Since the official MIUI.us ICS ROM has been released, I will not be watching this thread too closely anymore. I will still check in every once in a while to make sure all questions are answered regarding this version. The official forum for the MIUI.us release can be found here. There is also a forum here on XDA: XDA Forum.

MIUI ICS v4
Samsung Fascinate
BETA RELEASE
If this is your first time flashing MIUI v4, please read the instructions found here before proceeding: http://goo.gl/8aTyR
Current Version: 2.3.16
Download: http://tinyw.in/ttVR
md5: b77d14b92166f53e9e2fc03f758ec5d7
NOTICE: PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST BEFORE FLASHING THIS ROM. THERE IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HOW TO FLASH. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE STEPS OUTLINED BELOW WILL RESULT IN BRICKING YOUR PHONE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ODIN READILY AVAILABLE IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG. THE STEPS OUTLINED BELOW ASSUME YOU'RE RUNNING GINGERBREAD MIUI. IF YOU ARE ALREADY RUNNING TEAMHACKSUNG'S CM9, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FLASH THIS NORMALLY.
I have flashed this several times on my Fascinate, so I suspect there won't be any issues with anyone who is experienced in flashing ROMs. With that said, I will not be held responsible for any damage to your phone by flashing this. Flash at your own risk.
MMS WORK-AROUND
1. Download Set DNS from the Market
2. Open the app, click on the dropdown box and select Custom
3. Enter 8.8.8.8 for DNS1 and 66.174.92.214 for DNS2, hit Apply
4. MMS should now be working
How do I boot into recovery?
To boot into recovery, open the Updater app, press the menu button, and select Reboot to Recovery
What works:
Inbound and outbound calling
Sending and receiving SMS Text Messages
4-Way Reboot Menu
USB Storage
Camera
3G Data
Wifi
MMS (Works with work-around above)
Themes (you have to add a folder called theme to /data/system/)
Bluetooth
Music app
Gallery
Backup app
Alarm clock
Bluetooth
MIUI Music app
Possibly other things
What doesn't work:
Signal bar sometimes shows no signal when there actually is signal (Better, but still not perfect)
As of 2.3.16, Root Permissions doesn't work
GPS
Probably other things
Torch App
Changes/Fixes Implemented in This Release:
Updated ROM to 2.3.16
Got rid of that Roaming Indicator Off message in the status bar
Added the MIUI Torch app (doesn't work yet though)
To Do List:
Fix GPS
Fix signal bars
Find a way to make MMS work without having to change the DNS
Find a way to get themes working without having to manually add the theme folder
OTA updates
Am I missing something? Let me know.
I'm working to get this ROM as bug-free as possible. If you guys find any bugs that aren't listed here, please let me know.
Thanks:
jt1134, sbrissen, teamhacksung and everyone else who is responsible for making cm9 a possibility for the Samsung Fascinate. Also, thanks to MIUI China for the awesome ROM.

do you have themes and things enabled in this? not flashing because of issues. just wondering; I played with porting this about a month ago but never got past some of jts fixes so didn't release anything. one issue I couldnt figure out is themes; most of the systemui did not appear to be themed as it should have been. do you have that working right?
also is the music app in there yet? that's one reason I didn't bother continuing work, it was incomplete in the way of miui apps and stuff.

Themes should work. They were miss placed when we were working on it. all you had to do was create a themes folder in the system folder. I think they are fixed now.

Themes didn't work for me. It would "apply" them, but wouldn't actually change anything. It's pretty cool to see MIUI v4 on the fascinate though, I had fun playing around with it. Although without working data, there's not a whole lot you can do.
One thing that should be remedied is the fact the you cannot boot into recovery from the reboot menu. I had to three-finger into recovery which is a no-no with ICS apparently, and even though my backup looked like it restored normally, it wouldn't boot back up, it would just boot back into recovery. Gonna odin now and get back to THS beta 6.
Thanks for working on this though weblexa, I'm confident that with the help of JT and others in the community, you'll be able to make this a great rom. I never see you in the #samsung-fascinate IRC channel, I do see JT and sbrissen in there quite a bit though and I'm sure they'd probably be the most help with ICS. Just a thought.

Yeah, I really need to start getting on irc more. I'm sure it would be very helpful. I'll look into getting the reboot recovery option back into the reboot menu for my next release. Another option would be to use terminal emulator to reboot to recovery. Haven't tried it with v4 but don't see any reason for it to not work.
