imei problems - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i send the phone to warranty and apparently they change the imei number of the phone and im unable to unlock the phone with the ogininal unlocking code. theres a way to learn the imei # other that *#06# or the back panel?

imei numbers are factory set in phone.
Cannot be changed without replacing processor or bios.
You need to get a new unlock code for your new imei number

they changed the imei?
its a new phone
DN41

when i send the phone to warranty, apparently it was bricked. the phone was unlock at that time. i receive the phone back but it was locked. i put the original unlock code and the phone doesnt unlock and i dont know why because the imei number is the same on the back of the phone and *#06#. i dont know what they did to the phone on warranty im trying to have the info but they are very slow. thats why i ask how to obtain the imei rather than the usual proccedure.

The IMEI changed after update ROM!

What is the reason?
my htc touch pro IMEI changed after update ROM(official ROM"like as: RUU_Raphael_HTC_ITA_5.05.408.1_R2_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe")
and then my IMEI changed 17 bits--REMOVED--
when i install any software, the system to prompt the follow information:
"the program is from an unknown publisher.you should install it only if you trust its publisher.do you want to continue?"
I think this is just occasional,so i update ROM again and again.
but the IMEI is "--REMOVED--" all the same!
You probably don't want to post you imei online (maybe that's a fake #; if that's the case, you should say so).
Your IMEI didnt change =/
Maybe for some reason the soft way to see your IMEI is corrupted, but look under your battery, that IMEI is still the same, and that's what matters because if you warranty your phone for some reason IMEI is how they track it. IMEI is basically a serial number for the provider.
^ not true. It is possible to change your IMEI number with certain software. When a call is made the IMEI # is recorded in the provider's billing software. With Rogers for example, this is the case, albeit few reps know how to find this and fewer still care what your IMEI is or isn't.
Not saying whether the OP's IMEI did/didn't change, but the sticker under the battery only shows the IMEI when the phone shipped.
Just like a sticker on the back of a computer may say "windows xp" while its OS is actually "vista"
When you upgrade to a new version (Core) it will add one number to your IMEI only in form. It is still electronically recognized as the same IMEI, so don't worry. what you will find is that the number is the same, but has now an additional digit or 2 in it. This is just like a revision number & will not affect your services at all. This happened when we old Tilt users went from 6.0 to 6.1 & will likely happen again going 6.1 to 6.5 official.
Do you get your IMIE by dialing *#06# ?
yes mate
Imei changed
Hi,
i work for a mobile provider an I changed yesterday my ROM and today I got an Security check on my work and my IMEI changed also, and that was a little problem. Because they have to check my IMEI number, to look that I have the right mobile with me. The problem is, that Security had only the last 4 numbers, but I found out the new added two digit numbers
Cheers
Hmmm...That's what I said above. It is the ROM/Revision number & it gets added to the IMEI. For anything truly querying the IMEI, it is fine. But it seems your setup is querrying the Registry version of the IMEI.
Anytime you upgrade roms, Usually OEM roms, this happens. It started with the first touch & the Kaiser.

If you ran a ROM that had been XIP'd for any reason (such as to make some software that looks to see the OS version to run), this will modify how windows see's the IMEI, however the radio will read it for what it actually is.
This is interesting... when I warranty return my phones to ATT, they ask me to do the *#06# and have me read off the IMEI... Could they tell if I've changed roms via the numbers I read off?
Could it possibly be a secret way to bust us all?

No, no suits, black helicopters and vans unless you start cloning, there are your previous IMEI's on ATT system, they want to validate the problem handset as you have the ability to remove your sim and call them from a working handset, your account is bound to the sim, then there is always the accounts with multiple active sims, they just need the right one for the RMA.

Can't unlock SIM anymore after IMEI recovery

Hello! I was having issues with my SGII since I lost my IMEI and I struggled to recover it You can check my story here.
Now I have mi IMEI but my phone is network locked. I tried to unlock it with Galaxy S Unlock but it didn't work.
Tried with GalaxSIM and after reboot it says is unlocked BUT my IMEI is lost and obviously my phone doesn't recognizes my SIM card.
I'm on Android 4.1.2
Build Number:JZ054K.I9100XWLSE
Kernel:3.0.31-Siyah-s2-v6.0b4
Baseband: I9100XXLS8
If my EFS folder is corrupted shouldn't I lost my IMEI?
Why I lose my IMEI after attempting to network unlock my phone?
Here are some images.
First everything is normal, I have my IMEI and stuff...
Unblock successful!!!
But after reboot, my IMEI is lost
And so my signal...
Thank you!

I don't have warranty anymore.
I'm currently traveling ( in other continent for 3 months ).
I don't have my ticket purchase with me.
To trigger this IMEI problem I have to attempt to unlock the phone... so I need to root, reset the binary counter, and then re-flash the original firm, after that binary counter won't be zero.

[Q] correct imei but no signal,

Hi!!:
After reading and reading and trying every method i found on the internet, i still have not succeded with my problem which is this:
I tryed to flash an stock 4.3 to my free s3 movistar chile, but when it rebooted and after i wrote the pin code, it asks me for an unblock sim code
It presented signal but uknown network. I got back to 4.1.2 thinking that it should repair this, but no, it was worst, i got imei null,
After searching and searchingI found a cwm 3 files patch on the internet: one for cleaning kernel, other one to install kernel and the other one to install modem, and with it i got my imei back, (this is when i made efs backup, i know i sould have done long before ) but also the wknown network problem, with the phone asking me for this unblock sim code again.
I used galaxysim unlock to try to repair this, but it showed me that the phone is totally unlocked i think i remember it also showed me the state of csc and it appeared blocked, so i think this is where the problem lies, but i couldnt find any info about this.
when i go to state of the phone i see this
network: uknown
kind of network: umts
service state: out of service
mobile network state: disconnected
imei:3537.... thats ok, fits with the one on the back of the phone
device state: modified
(sorry if my einglish is not very accurate)
So resuming: my imei number is ok, wifi works ok, but even though the phone shows signal, it presents uknown network, and i cant do or receive calls.
i would be very thankful if any of you could help me
Your phone was unlocked using a crack that only worked on 4.1, by updating to 4.3 you've corrupted the efs folder.
You now need to buy an unlocking code and pay for a repair, make sure it works on 4.3 before you accept the phone back.

Thanks a lot for answering!. So, if the phone was cracked in 4.1.1, is there any chance to downgrade to that version, use the corrupt efs backup that i have, just in case i lose the imei, and try to unlock?, or would be too risky?
Not without a backup of the efs before you upgrade, no.

Amaze 4G unlock/repair ?

My phone was damaged with riff box (imei changed).
Is well known old problem, when phone reload and still locked after insert unlock code ( I have this code).
I make S-off and try repair in. After use PH85IMG.zip update file for update android
IMEI changed to null. Then i use generated Config.dat, imei is as needed, but phone locked and not ask for code.
May be naw is any way to repair it ?

Question Can someone change IMEIs?

I just saw a post about someone getting the error "Please enter a valid IMEI number." when submitting phones to OnePlus for bootloader unlock for N200s.
Is it possible they bought used phones with changed IMEIs? I am trying to learn if that's possible, or not.

i know back in the day changing imei number was a thing. but nowndays you changing imei on newer phone will cause a very very hard brick. plus it's illegal to change imei numbers on phones.
imei nembers for phones is just like your VIN on your car. each phone has its own imei number.
no phones has the same imei numbers.
so if you change it
it will brick
