Im using Cronos 2.1.2 because its a fast ROM with those features I need and it got sense UI.

Make a poll This is probably in the wrong section! But then again maybe not CMH
cheers

Cronos Droid 2.1.2 because it is fast, has sense, responsive, Feeyo is always coming out with updates and it rocks.

I think he is leading in all versions whether sense or Froyo and now even Vanilla

there are a couple of roms i've tried and some i really like...
- modaco repack + oc kernel by behnaam = stable, smooth, good battery life
- kimera 2.1 = super smooth, stable + excellent battery
haven't tried any of the Villain stuff so can't really say anything about their roms...
currently i'm back on Cronos 2.1 with latest kernel; the battery really is excellent ( imho even better then before ) all works really well and smooth.

I think so but I want to try out his new AOSP Eclair but if I am going for Eclair I was thinking about CMH, so I can't decide on which. =\

Cronos 2.1.2 : )
Has Sense and still fast. Of course the ROM I use has to be stable. And it has the 2.1 features, otherwise I would use SenseHero 1.6 that is the best 1.5 ROM for Hero
Ohh... and Feeyo made a 730Mhz step for me; overclock is an important feature

FroydVillain: Because FroYo has so many features that Eclair is missing. And the CM-team (lox) is rather slow to update (I don't count the nightlies in, as they are missing a lot of work)
And now sense isn't on my phone, my battery will last a day longer

Kimera 2.1. I try a lot of ROMs but this one is the best one with Sense UI. Batery life is incredible, it's fastest and smoother 2.1 ROM ever made.
FC = 0!
This is top ROM!

A variety of them because they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Another pathetic question and one which will never have an unbiased answer (aside from mine ).

Fusion ROM 2.2 Froyo, I've tried many ROMS and this is by a long way the best one. In my opinion of course
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App

I 'basically' use Cronos 2.1.2 as it is the fastest, smoothest, most stable and least battery hungry 2.1 ROM with Sense. It runs superb with JIT and overclocking.
When I say 'basically' I mean that I have done some tweaks to it myself in order to get FriendStream working and the patched Rosie that allows screen-rearranging in pich-zoomed overview, and have done lots of trimming to it to get rid of stuff that I don't want/need/use to save some memory.

Best Fully Working Hero 2.1 Rom

Bit of a wide open question maybe? But I'm sick of waiting for HTC to release the 2.1 update and want to move to a 2.1 ROM on my unbranded UK Hero.
I'm not bothered whether it's got sense or not I just want a fully working fast ROM.
What do people recommend.
Thanks
Sense - VillainRom 5.2 (5.3 should be out tomorrow)
Non Sense - ( I don't really use them so not sure)
Sense - VillainRom 5.2 (honestly ... In my personal opinion, there is a lack of competition)
non Sense - I've tried a bunch, but I just can't get into using a crippled phone.
I've been using Sense Hero 2.1 by Stickman
The font that is used in the pictures on Htcdevscene.info has reverted back to the normal font as people were'nt Happy !!!!
Everthing is working fine at the moment and another update is due out to fix some issues.
Can anyone compare this to the Villian ROM as I havn't tried that one.
Thanks
I tried almost all 2.1 roms on XDA, and even if developers made an awesome work on it, 2.1 is not worth it yet on Hero.
Roms are pretty stable, but not 100%, it's really slow compared to 1.5, and the battery drain remain huge.
Last thing, if you use Spotify, I think you can forget about 2.1 roms for now.....
MCR 3.2 is still the best
Well you say that but VillainRom 5.2 certainly is not slower than 1.5 roms

Do you guys feel that when using 2.1 roms, the phone starts out so fast and stable when you just flashed them then a couple of nights later, its so laggy and some things start to make problems like making phone calls or wifi stops working or acouple or the lag becomes more and more
my favorite 2.1? aHero 0.8: clean, stable and I don't have to complain about "issues"
Vanillain 2.0 JIT - AOSP maybe is better, I have to test it (Vanillain 1 was awsome)
One advantage about Vanilla ROMs: you can, if you want, use JIT

I also tried that, even with 2 or 3 applications running the phone remain laggy. Back to MCR after 1 month and a half on 2.1 (VillainRom and aHero), my hero is smooth again and I can use Spotify without having to kill all processes before.
And that doesn't prevent anyway from the battery drain
Was using Legend port but as was going for Holiday, downgraded to 1.5 for GPS. Now I'm itching to try but ROM development seems to be in explosion . Gone few threads for almost a week now and still cannot find any definitive answers:
a) Which build has the stable GPS without that on/reboot-off/reboot bug?
b) without sleep bug?
c) Bluetooth audio call working without any problem?
d) Without Camera green-blue tint
e) 95% stable? well close to 100% will be bonus
f) Can hold charge for at least of 7-10 hrs.
Thanks.
I'm using Legendary v1.3.5 right now and it looks good. Waiting for VillainRom 5.3 tho.. ;-)

whats the best froyo rom ?

am currently running VaniliaEclair 4.0, want to flash a new rom, but dont want to change after that for a while
a question. Whats new in froyo ? its better to flash a eclair rom or froyo nowdays ? how stable is that ?
which rom do u prefer ? that are most stable, fast and great batterylife ?
i saw a benchmark thread here a while ago, listed that vaniliaEclair 5.0 was the fastest one and got the most power of all the roms. But that was a while ago... which rom is the leading one right now ?
I personally like Floyo. Everything that matters to me works nicely. Haven't found anything that doesn't work.
Allot of people would say Froyd Villain, Though its nice, it hasent had any update for the past few months.
Ok a small text about the differences of the 3 that are out there who got atleast a name.
1. Froyd: Made by the well known Villainteam. It was for its time the best one (2 months ago) Still runs nice, had a wicked fast GPS fix, 5 to 10 sec. Has allot of preinstalled apps. On the villainsite there are allot of themes you can use with this rom. And I mean ALLOT
2. Elelinux: More up to date then Froyd, way less themes avalable then Froyd, though more stable for my taste. Still some preinstalled apps.
3. Floyo, My fav. Clean, basic fast, and up to date . Made by the creator of the awesome FlyKernel, wich i now even use with my Slide Port rom. This one had 2 awesome themes you can choose to use, its fast basic and stable like a good oiled up car .
I would say Floyo is the best, but thats my oppinion .
Have never tried Fusion rom, cuss the notes dont really atract me to use, and i havent seen any themes for it . Some say its nice some don't just try them all and use the one you like
I've tried them all. FROYO_2.2_Special_Edition_v2 by elelinux is the first one I'm using for more then a week.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I liked VanillaEclair4, now i have Floyo.
VE4 little faster, but no updates anymore.
But i have not test any else ROM, so i canĀ“t say...
all are great, try them all and choose the one suitable you
Wish these topic were locked immediately with the comment "learn to read"
FYI - i could link you to at least 10 topics from the last month discussing the exact same thing and nothing has changed - its getting frustrating seeing the same thing over and over again
FusionROM is pretty decent, but I like Floyo the best. It is very stable.
HWMNBN has a pretty good 2.2 ROM out right now (Cronos Froyo). It is very quick and responsive and has a really nice optional Galaxy-based theme.
hmm i have hard time to choose rom =) i really dont like to try each out it will take forever for me xD
so basicially the best rom to go is Floyo ? if i want a 2.2 rom ? i want to run with flykernel 11, is it ok ? how stable will it go ?
so is it more powerfull than VaniliaEclair 5 ?
btw i have read that froyo is 2.5 times faster than eclair, is it true ? i mean htc hero will never get the official 2.2

It's a good 2.2 ROM to start with, IMO. Very stable.
Pretty sure Flykernel-11 in included in Floyo. The ROM dev is also the kernel dev (Erasmux).
If you don't like it, just flash another ROM! Hell, flash all of them this weekend if you'd like to.

[Q] (HTC Droid Eris) Most stable ROM in your opinion

I am currently running kaosfroyo-v36, and its pretty good. I am fairly new to rooting my droid, ive only tried out 2 roms so far and both were fairly good. I understand how rooting works, not quite sure if i get how the kernel works or how to add it to my phone. To get back to my question, What rom do you feel is the most stable rom out thats still speedy?
Thanks!
stability id go with froshedyo
and for speed id go with Dual rom
Thanks for your your input!
IMHO, xtrSENSE and xtrROM are the most stable ROMs out there that I've tried. Everything just works, of course, they're 2.1-based so it doesn't include Froyo features or CM-specific enhancements to Froyo.
I wish I could have the best of both worlds. No offense to anyone. I'm currently using CELBFroyo.
I would definitely go with CELB =) Fast, Stable.
FroShedYo is working Very good for me, upped to version 8. It has decent speed, a great built in CPU monitor and all the goodness of Cyanogen. It is very stable, no crashes in the month or so I have stuck with it. Typical dropped call that isn't really dropped, but it picks back up and does a good job.
I agree on xtrROM. It's super fast and extremely stable. Of course, it's 2.1. I'm on CELBFroyo, and after a week there haven't been any hiccups. It's got nice speed and CPUBoost is a nice addition.
I've also used NonSenSIKal which is pretty solid.
for the most part, its really personal preference. Give some ROMs a test run and see how they work out for you. I've always been switching up ROMs, but I've stuck with CELBfroyo for about a month now, and its running very well for me.
p.s. dont forget to nandroid before you start flashing
Can't tell you why but I've tried quite a few including FroShedYo and CELB but Floyo Tazz has been the fastest/smoothest for me.
Tazz Froyo
I have tried alot of Roms and Tazz Froyo has been my favorite, it has conaps new kernel which helps with battery life and lagging on the phone, built in cpu governors( no need for SetCPU) Gingerbread keyboard, which is very responsive and has a excellent predictive text function, MIUI music which is a updated stock music app, you can make phone calls and send texts from the lockscreen, no complaints at all with the ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733897
Nonsensikal is my daily ROM but I have used froshedyo's V6 through V8 as an alt from time to time because it is easy to theme. Both are very stable solid ROMs you'll be happy with either one.
Thanks to everyone who replied! I am now using froshedyo v8 and its pretty quick and i like the fact that it has cayanogen with it.Very cusomizable and fairly quick! Once again thanks to all posters!

Woo Hoo!
workshed, your rom rocks! igot a couple questions about modifying some things.. Themes, icons, wallpaper, fonts, boot image, etc. Where should i post?
Workshed can correct me if I'm wrong but his Rom is very similar to tazzs roms, with floyo being a port from a hero Rom and tazz froyo being allot like sheds Rom. All eris' are different so run what your phone likes the most. Mine likes tazz froyo more than floyo and I haven't had the time to try sheds Rom but I know he did a great job on it.

My vote is for CELB, i've used EE and sensable and i have found CELB to be the fastest and most bug free. If i've ever had a problem conap has either already commented about it in his thread or he or someone else direct me to the solution. Not knocking anyone else, just my personal experience.
I'm a big fan of KaosFroyo.. I do always flash the latest CFS kernel over it though. I have tried 4 or 5 other roms as well, but always come back to kaos
i've ran evil eris 3.0 for a really long time. i loved that rom and now i've been on v37 for the past couple months. v37 of kaosfroyo rom but starting to get bored of it and want more speed. maybe i'll just end up getting a new phone soon.

I tried a lot of all roms, so far 2.1 seems to be the more fast and stable of all, except elelinux speedmachine which is also great, but i'm a "sense" guy, give it a shot its great.
I'd recomend Goku's Decked up for Life rom. Its up to date 2.3.7 and easily the fastest and most stable GingerBread rom I have tried.... and I have tried a few. No FC issues... very fast.... lightweight and memory friendly. Read the thread and you'll see he started with a quick rom and its just getting better with every release.
Use the link in my signature. Do a nandroid backup 1st.... then give it a few days. Worst case scenario.... its not for you and you can go back to your original and search on.

I can confirm that this ROM is best from what i have tried regarding stability, memory management and speed
I can attest for the Heroine ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295991). It is very nice AND very stable. Been running it continuously for about a week which is long for me.
The Aeonflux ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284830) is also very nice and stable. I think I'll go back and check it out again.
That Floyo 1.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784689) you've been using is a great 2.2.1 ROM as you've probably noticed.
Another 2.2.1 ROM I use sometimes is Froyd 1.7.3-R2 (no xda link I could find so http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/4617-May-15th-FroydVillain-1.7.3-R2-Released). Froyd SEEMS to slow down / bog down slightly over time but I MIGHT be imagining it.

[Q] flykernel: cm6.1 vs cm7.1

if i installed cm6.1 or cm7.1 with the same flykernel, would anyone have an opinion as to which phone would be generally more solid/speedy?
i feel a bit frustrated by my experience with cm7.1 and all the ginger based roms, but it seems that many are wowed by the performance.
just looking for some opinons. thanks
i find myself in a similar situation, and am currently on the Heroine++ rom for the sake of speed, but it is quite outdated, and i've been wanting a good 2.2 rom.
anyway, from my expericen, everybody is wowed by 7.1.0 only because of how slow it used to be, it really has come a long way since GB for hit our heros, but it is still a tiny bit too slow and laggy for my liking, and i had some issues with the in call UI not responding fast enough, so i couldn't always answer phone calls or the phone would still vibrate/ring after i'd answered it.
as far as kernel goes, older roms such as 2.1 are better on the older kernel, and newer roms such as GB will probaby be expecting a newer kernel, and therefore run better with it. but i'm not sure how stable the lastest venturas/venturax is compare to flykernel.
anyway, I am rambling.
in short, i think the older roms 2.1/2.2 are the only solid and speedy roms we have, GB is still a bit too slow.
(shame that the least developed roms currently are the 2.2, espcailly the 2.2 sense roms)
Flykernel and cm6.2 cm6.1 ftw, seriously.
I've been alternating between floyo and froydvillain for a while. Froyd is slightly more smoother imo.
And then I put bharat's FroYo port on. It has been VERY good so far. There is even a great ICS theme for it by habarug. Check it out with flykernel.

it's working alright, i do occationally get a force close though.
i'm not sure how the other froyo roms are set up, but this one comes with dithering off, which could explain why it feels snappier (slows down a bit if i turn on the dithering)
finding several apps to do the job of sense is pretty hard though =/ fast dialers on the hero are few and far between.
doubt i'll change it any time soon, unless i break something or chocolatefroyo gets it's carmera fixed.
good rom, not sure how different the froyo roms are though (i have no idea what happpened between cm 6.1.3 and 6.2.0)
anyway this is a little off topic now.

it was my understanding that there was only cm6.1 and cm7.1?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version#HTC_Hero_.28GSM.29
for the record my current situation is running cm6.1 with flykernel 13, and using setcpu to overclock. i would say it it like a racecar compared to my experiences on 7.1
still open to thoughts if anyone wants to continue discussing this. ultimately i just want a rock solid phone that is as snappy as possible, and i get frustrated when trying out roms that have various features that work poorly. as a result i have mostly stuck to CM stable releases.
