Hi all,
I have a problem on my HTC HD2 (Energy Rom : 07/28/10; Radio : 2.12.50.02_2) with 3G/HSDPA connection.
Sometimes it disconnect and I need to reboot (or switch to "airplane mode" then switch on again "phone mode") to make it works again.
It seems that it disconnect faster if I download much data (for instance if I only check my emails every 5 minutes it won't disconnect for 2-5 hours but if run StreamTVLive or Wifi router it will disconnect after only 60 seconds...
When it disconnect, I still have HSDPA icon ("H" icon) but I have the following error message "cannot connect for unknown reason... tap settings or dismiss".
I tried many Energy roms and 2.7 and 2.12 radios but I still have same problem (I have french operator named "Bouygues Telecom" with (almost) unlimited 3G data connection) and now I don't know what to do
I think It does not depends on signal quality from my operator because I have the same problem in many cities in France...
Anyone could help me ? Thanks !
Let's face some of these "stable" roms are not that when cooked. There are issues out there or is it just that windows mobile is a POS?

Many people successfully solved using radio 2.10.50.28_2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614119&highlight=telstra
i have had the same problem for months, ever since i went to wisconsin back in may. i started getting data errors up there & theyve persisted even through several hard resets. ive even tried flashing to the radio tedd mentioned. it helped a bit, but i still have to manually connect to data 4 or 5 times a day. its the one & only major issue ive had with this phone.

Hey guys,
I'm using WM2005 1.50g and had some issues with Radio 1.18 initially as other ppl on the board have had. I went back to 1.17 and now have different issues.
Can anyone confirm they are experiencing the same things as me? And are there any better Radio ROMs than 1.17 and 1.18? (even older version?)
1.18 PROBLEMS:
- Flight mode takes AGES to enable
- Flight mode takes even longer to disable...
- Flight mode randomly turns off (some ppl say when a reminder occurs)
- rare GPRS connection fails with "cannot connect to [gprsapn.com]" (every few days)
1.17 PROBLEMS:
- GPRS connection fails with "cannot connect to [gprsapn.com]" very often. Using ActiveSync schedule 30 mins interval this happens every few hours. Requires either waiting over an hour for timeout or to turn on flight mode then turn off again, or of course soft-reset.
- tap on [G] in top bar, does not list GPRS connection to connect to. Just says "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings".
Any one with further info?
Cheers to all the good work ppl are putting into WM2005, I'm thinking 2003SE is dying a slow death now. 2.20-[fully]translated may never eventuate eh. These problems listed above I never had on 2003SE so I know the hardware is not faulty and the settings are fine.
I am currently using 1.17, here are my observations:
> SMS sent to me seem to be delayed (not sure if this is a provider/network issue or caused by the radio rom; Philippine Smart users with WM5.0 and using 1.17 radio rom, pls confirm...)
> Sometimes when I power up my XDA, several SMS messages (lagged?) will suddenly come in all at once
> There are also times when you can't send out an SMS message. I am sure my signal strength was full. It just doesn't leave the outbox. So I move the msg in the outbox to the drafts folder then resend it again. Then after some time, it will send but will send it in multiple copies (depending how many times you have retried). This is annoying specially if it's an urgent message. Very frustrating!!!
**I hope someone else out there can confirm my observations. Thanks!

Radio v.1.17
hey this should be a Radio ROM v.1.17
Here's the download link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/11851953/4c877d57/C_ShekharAKU35cR40P24_public.html
sorry for bad english.....
1.08 is best for WM6 I think.
No SMS delay, no SMS sending failures, no GPRS disconnection/can't connect, no ringing delay, no all in one sms get (turn on phone and 10123 smses comes, lol!)
Link in attachment
how to change radio:
Put Radio_.nbf and Upgrade.exe in one folder and flash as normal. After flashing, just reset, don't hard reset, and get happy!
Remember that Radio stack ROM update is dangerous, fail update will make your radio unusable probably for ever. Be careful.
edit - Update: After a lot of testing - Don't install other radio that 1.17 on my roms if you are not suicidal
Old post, more info?!
hi. Sorry to bother you at this late stage, but could you explain what you mean by that statement regarding the combination of your ROMs and Radio versions that are not 1.17..?
Do you mean that your ROMs rely on version 1.17 to function correctly?
In which case, is it fair to say that whenever a new ROM is released / cooked, the chef should also mention which Radio ROM they are using also?!
Thanks for your patience
As i had this problem after having updated to the new german O2 ROM 1.25.207.2, maybe it is of help for somebody else:
The problem was that everytime i activated DirectPush on my xda Trion, it connected just fine and synched my device.
But after some time (10-30 minutes), the data connection (GPRS or UMTS, no matter) dropped and could only be re-established after a soft reset of the whole device.
I GUESS that it could be the CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_Suspend_Resume_Null.CAB in the extended ROM of the new O2 ROM.
Judging from the filename it is setting the following registry entry to NULL.
This MAYBE causes the problem described above.
Nevertheless, the fix for me was to enter the following in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings]
"SuspendResume"="~GPRS!"
This is of course an old tweak from former Windows Mobile Versions - it works nevertheless also on the new Trion ROM - at least for me!
Has anybody else had the same experiences?
If so, maybe this is worth to put in the WIKI, as it took my some time to find this old tweak again somewhere.
Best regards - and have a good start into 2007!
Klaas.
Yes i had this in a similar way. It worked for some hours with some reconnects. But then a reconnection was not possible. So once or twice a day a reboot of the device was needed. I set the connection to alwayson to solve the reconnection problem. That works too. But I think this is now responsible for calling problems.
I have to do telephone calls twice to get a connection. Or in UMTS networks (mainly in one special location, could be an HSDPA problem) it happens, that the connection freeze. So I can't hear anything from the otherside and other way round also. I also can't close the connection.
Maybe that tweak from you is a better solution.
After having testing it for nearly a week now, all i can say is:
It works!
No disconnects, no failed reconnects, no calling problems.
Device runs even more stable as with the previous ROM - and, although this maybe is only misperception, it also runs faster!
So if you have problems with your GPRS/UMTS connections to stay connected - try this tweak!
Maybe somebody could add this to the Wiki?
Regards,
Klaas.
Hello everyone, i'm asking this because it's the third time i had this issue. I often keep my Data Network Mode deactivated and turn it on only when i need because of my 3g plan (quota, taxes, and also because it's likely to find a WiFi network in the places i usually go).
The problem is, sometimes i turn on 3g (by Phone options menu) and... nothing happens... i need to reboot to make it work again.
The 3G network in my country is quite unstable, but i'm pretty sure that isn't a signal problem because one of the times i was turning on/off the 3G to make it work and i gave up and forgot to turn it off, the next day when i tried again i found it was On but not connected. After a reboot, working again.
Anyone having this issue who found a fix? Could be a problem with the kernel or app?
Edit: I Forgot: CF-ROOT Kernel, KF3

mate i am afraid you have answer already - "The 3G network in my country is quite unstable"
that can clearly produce the bug. Just in the case check your APN settings if they are correct. Settings- wireless and network-mobile networks- access Poin Names - compare the stats there with your network provider and make deep research.
just example i am on vodafone - i found that i was running vodafone live profile in APN and i was loosing conexion and i had troubles loading some pages - after research i found that there is another setup for vodafone as well - different then the live but for vodafone as well. i am using it since then and i am experiencing now the lighting speed of 3g. Just give it a try.
Searching on the internet i found that the configuration of my APN is equal to the recommended.
Backup data and factory reset phone should clear any software problems .
You could try flashing KH3 modem .

Same issue here for both rooted and un-rooted GS2
Retracted - will have to do more testing
Ok, first off I've searched many of the data connection issue threads out there but nothing seems to apply to my situation.
I'm having a problem where my data will disconnect whenever i receive/make a call and/or send/receive a text message. About 1-2min after the call has ended data will reconnect, if I toggle airplane mode data will reconnect a bit quicker.
I'm using a Bell Atrix, unlocked running Turl's CM9 from the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500535
I've had the phone for a year running the stock 2.2 then 2.3.4 then 2.3.6 and never had any problems until I unlocked the bootloader and installed CM9 a couple days ago.

You sure you're not in an EDGE/GPRS area? You can only have data during phone calls on 3G/HSPA+.
Edit: To verify this, go to Settings > About phone > Status and look at what it says for Mobile Network Type.

System settings/about phone/status/Mobile network type is :"HSPA:11"
I'm in a HSPA+ area, same location I've been using the phone since I bought it a year ago which is in the city core
ok, after a bit more trial and error I haven't been able to solve the problem but I have been able to narrow it down. As it turns out when GPS activates my connection will disconnect for the 1-2min as per above.
My workaround was just to disable GPS for the time being, but this isn't exactly a solution, if anyone has any advise it would be very much appreciated.

Remove multiple APNs. This happened with my old Desire Z. Whenever the GPS is on, data disconnects. Deleting unused APNs fixed this.
hmm, I've never deleted an APN before, if I do this will the network automatically reselect ones for me?
Don't delete everything, just delete what's not needed. The APN that's in use has a selected radiobutton at the right side. Leave that and the MMS one alone, delete the others.
I just deleted one of my two apns, then tested internet and a voice call which both still work, I turned GPS on and opened maps, I get the gps icon on the notification bar but it isn't blinking(also my network connection reset again), then I tried GPS test and again the gps icon at the top isn't blinking like it used to(it has the icon but it's hollow, i.e. no dot on the inside of it blinking) though my network connection didnt' reset this time at least.
I'm about ready to just chalk this up to CM9 on the Atrix just not working right because its unofficial and lacking proper drivers.
GPS icon in status bar does not blink when searching in ICS. You get a blank crosshair when it's searching for a signal, and a filled crosshair once it gets a lock.

ok so I tried turning gps on and running gps test, I let it go for 20min and it didn't pick up a single satellite(this is outside)
Try clearing agps data.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the advise, I downloaded "GPS Status & Toolbox" from the market and used it to clear my A-GPS data, this seems to have solved the problem of my network disconnecting, however I'm still unable to get any satellites to show up in GPS test(yes GPS is turned on).
Any thoughts?
Hey everybody
I hope I can get some help from you guys.. I got this issue that I started to get into the running and started to need more of my gps to track my training and Ive noticed this weird behaviour of my gps.. It just wont even search for satellites whenever the 3g is on (you know the alert that says searching for gps).. installed the GPS checker to see if there was no satellites or something but it wont even search for them whenever I have the 3g on.. I found that the GPS works only if I disable the Mobile Data and restart my phone.. So I cant have both at the same time.. the minute I enable the 3g data it stops working and I have all the GPS options checked at the configuration and the wifi 3g assist.. What could be causing this?
Please let me know if some of you guys have some issue like this.. I have JellyBam 9.0.0 cyanogen mod based 10.1 and baseband XXXKI4

If you don't have this issue with a stock ROM, its probably a bug in the Jellybam ROM. Have you done a clean install? Since Jellybam has been banned from XDA, you probably won't get support for that ROM here. Maybe you should try contacting the dev of the ROM on their forum.

I tried the Omega stock V24 and had the exact same issue..
There's a number of GPS 'fixes' on here, I suggest you search for the threads containing those fixes & try some of them.
Hi!
I just want to share my workaround having same problem as this. After configuring my gps.conf as i've posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713&page=77, all went smoothly and fast GPS lock for just about 5 - 15 sec, even on a cloudy or rainy day. Then last Tuesday morning, as soon as the mobile data got connected it cuts the GPS. In short, GPS & mobile data won't run simultaneously. I ran a series of reboot, shutdown, clean up... then as much as i don't want to, i ended up reflashing/reinstalling everything but to no avail! Now, since everything is fresh w/ my S2, but still had same problem. I now zeroed in the problem to how my mobile data connects. I didn't think of this before because everything works perfectly fine. Anyway, this time i changed the Network mode from "WCDMA only" to "GSM only". Finally! it works! problem solved.
So far as of this writing, both the GPS & mobile data connection are working simulteously. Only drawback are: (1) I can't browse the net using the "GSM only" mode because of the bandwidth limitation, but works ok w/ Waze app. (2) If i switched & connected to mobile data using "WCDMA only" mode, i need to switch again to "GSM only" mode & restart the phone in order for the GPS to works again.
I don't know, but i'm thinking if our telco here has something to do why I had this problem. Maybe they change some configuration... I dunno.
My phone:

Android 4.1.2

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. Searching forum and the internet without results.
Last week I spent a lot of time with my SGS2. The problem occurs when gps and mobile internet data are used at the same time, but only when the phone use 3G or H+ standard.
When mobile data are transmitted on E/2G there is no problem at all. The issue with gps is that when I drive car and I'm in one location at the city (every day at the same place) the gps icon disappeared and no navigation at all. This is quite big square around 2x2 km. After I leave the area I have to turn off and on the phone and everything works ok, even when mobile data 3G/H+ are transmitted.
So described problem occurs only at the specific area. I don't know what cause the issue. After next researching I discovered, that gps disapeared ONLY WHEN THE PHONE USES UMTS 2100 MHz. In the service menu I mark only UMTS 900 MHz and the gps works very good. This time mobile data 3G/H+ are used simultaneusly with gps and everything is ok.
So the problem is olny when we are connected to BTS at 2100 MHz and only at the specific area. It seems that some kind of 2100 MHz signal intereferences wiht gps circuit maybe. I'm not a proffesionalist, I only suppose that.
Maybe somebody will find the complete solution with that.
My problem is at the cetral of Poland. I tried a lot of firmwares, modem drivers, gps.conf modifications. Nothing. Zero results.

Hmmm... it seems our telco here has something to do w/ my concern. Today, simultaneously my S2's GPS & 3G/H+ are working perfectly fine. I didn't do any reconfiguration w/ my S2, i just tried to switch how my mobile data connects, from "GSM only" to "WCDMA only".
