Can someone please create an app/widget that handles all of these three services in one app. Users should be able to easily post to all networks with one click, easily see when they have notifications in facebook and be able to access them with one click, and search for and follow people easily on Twitter. I prefer all tweets, status updates, and buzzs to be in one stream like the Samsung widget, but with more functionality. I would be willing to pay a couple bucks for the widget/app if I could try out a free version first to verify its coolness, and I think many others would be too. If you would love to see this app made please reply to this and maybe a dev will see the potential behind this possible widget.

Most people are good at pulling and pushing already developed stuff to new devices. What you're asking requires somebody to spend a lot of their time developing, most wont do it. Would be cool if somebody had though!

I've seen several people asking for it around the web. Someone could make some money here I would think. Wish I had the skills needed.

OK. I'm on it.
But seriously. Is someone supposed to just go, ya know, I have way too much time on my hands and would happily devote hundreds of hours of work for a few bucks from this guy, assuming my efforts are to his liking.
Really, didn't Sammy release the Vibrant src the other day? Spend some time playing with it and try to make the modifications yourself. That's how ADW.Launcher was started.

They didn't release the source to any of their apps any more than htc did for theirs (or google for theirs.. or motorolla..or..etc)
I think tmobile released an app that does all this...

I don't expect anyone to do this for me. I hope to spark interest in an idea that can make the dev some money. If I would be willing to pay for this possibly so would others. I could be completely wrong, but I have hope that someone might be successful with this type of app.

The next best widget I have found to the Samsung one is the one called Socialite. It is free in the market. It has Facebook on one tab, twitter on the other. No buzz though (but really, who uses Buzz???)
Looks like Tweetdeck's Android client will do Facebook, Twitter, Buzz and Foursquare, it looks amazing:
http://techcrunch.com/2010/08/11/tweetdeck-android/
Beta supposedly this week.

I don't see any mention of a widget.... don't know why people release these twitter apps with no widget. This isn't an iphone, I don't want to have to run a program to see my latest tweets.

I'm a widget guy myself but I think because the way this app updates and notifies you in the taskbar it sort of eliminates the need for a widget. I'd still like the option to use one tho.

I see what you mean. Its still in beta so maybe a widget is in the works if enough people ask for one.
Yeah no widget so far. I definitely would love to have one though. About getting a notification every thirty seconds... Why would you have notifications for tweets turned on? I always just turn on notifications for direct messages and @replies

You should change it to "making facebook notifications work" I did that yesterday I though it was interested and for some reason so far is working, even tho i have been getting most of my notifications on my evo 3d already
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

I read about this and thought about trying it. It's always annoyed me that I never got any facebook notifications, because I thought I was supposed to...ya know?
...but the more I thought about it the more I realised how irritating it would be to actually get all of my facebook notifications in my notification bar...and how much more annoying it would be to have a notification sound to go with it....and I don't even have a huge friend list...
Even though notifications was a huge problem with fb app, its still not that useful of an app compared to like bb or ios versions. Ive found friendcaster works way better nd always shows notifications and takes u directly to the appropriate place in the app. It does forward u to the touch or mobile site for a few things here nd there but overall way ahead of official app!

I like friendcaster a bit better than the standard app as well. Still, it could be much better.
Haha...this is funny because I posted these exact same findings on another Android site (the "Central" one) last Friday, August 5th and by Sunday the mods had tested it, put up a video, shot it to the front page and made a Sticky of it in the Applications forum. I can tell you that it works. Facebook for Android basically piggy backs on the Blackberry for Android permissions. There's approximately about 95% functionality with this. One of the things that doesn't work correctly for example are Poke notifications. You get the push notification but when you click on that particular one nothing happens. It's a very minor issue in my book.
What is this Facebook?
Don't worry guys, After Nov 5 Facebook is no more.

My recent phone history: BB Curve>BB Tour>HTC Hero>HTC EVO 4G>Samsung Epic>HTC EVO3D
I just checked and I still have the BB permissions on my FB Account Setting and I'm not getting push notifications.
I will try to sign in on a BB when I get access to one because I remember getting push notifications on my Hero when I had it, which was directly after I had the Tour.
First android device and loving it and I was just wondering if it was possible to make delivery report simpler with messaging app? By that I mean not to get voice and notification every time but rather it would just have little tick, change color or add delivery time in the app itself? Or is that something that can't be done?
I read people recommending go sms pro, handcent and such apps and I tried those 2 but didn't really like them.
Possible.
Use a different messagin app like GO SMS etc.

Might be because I'm new but I really didn't like that app. Read there are ads in app comments, don't really feel safe allowing 3rd party app to control my messages and it kinda felt bloated, too many options, too flashy, too much to do.
I'm perfectly fine with built in one just want at least the sound gone.

Yeah I know tooon of people use it but I'm still paranoid
I didn't like that it had ton of options I don't need and maybe it will hog more memory/power etc. I'll dl dark theme, was too bright also but that's something else
Oh and I can't download it from store, it says something about not available in your country, gotta install from different source.
Edit: Made it the way I like, using it now.

Thanks for reply, I might wait and see what happens. I paid $15.00 for spb shell and haven't used it lately. I have two touchpads (one for my son to use) plus one that I got for my sister, which has my Google set as a second account. So if I installed it on all three it might be worth it. Went to Chameleon's website and looked around, there are some Widgets that users have made and instructions to make your own. It looks like simple ones are just copy and paste, but I am not a coder by any means.
By the way we have the same devices. Started with the streak, got as far as unbranding it to get the gb update from dell.

From what I can tell from the forums on Chameleons site is, the widget is a web page in a window. If I am correct then it would be about useless unless you are connected to internet.
Yeah Chamelon is rather craptastic. I had such high hopes for it, all the widgets are essentially web pages and the ones that come with it are less than stellar nor configuratble.(all widgets have a grotesque bored of some sort) And the g+ and gmail widgets are basically them getting and delivering instead of just allowing native.(meaning you have to auth them to access your stuff to display) all the widgets that you can make dont run local unless you setup your own webserver. The location changes can easy be accomplished via Tasker. AND to top that off you cant even use normal system widgets or generic app widgets that ALL android launchers support.
BasicallyI'm having buyers/donaters remorse of 10$ for such a **** launcher and i'll just stick with zeam.

Does anyone here use these kind of apps? I saw a couple posts for utter and speaktoit but they were short lived. I have browsed the internet but it seems like every site recommends a different on. I don't really want to go through the process of trying/learning every one to find the best one. I might do that with 2 or 3, but I would like to narrow it down to those 2 or 3 first.
One thing I would really like to have is the ability to set reminders just by speaking to the app. Things like pick up billy from soccer at 5:00, or pay the bills on Monday and have it put those in the calendar or a to do app or whatever and then have it send me a reminder on those days or times.
Hello!
I've tried many but the one I return to is 'Assistant'. For me, it's only flaw is that it won't do my Exchange calendar... Though their customer service tells me full Microsoft Exchange support is coming.

I'm using the jellybean sandwich rom, which is CM9 based, so I don't think I have access to the latest version of google now. But when I was using it, I never really got it, or learned how to use it effectively. Although it was pretty awesome when it told me to leave for work early in the morning because there was a lot of traffic
there are ways to get google now on cm9 but its easier to update your rom. i've been using JamieD81's unofficial cm10.2 and just flashed cm10.2 nightly and both have been really stable so far
My only issues with Dragon is that it's a huge app once the voice files download - and it uses a ton of RAM on standby even when I don't use it to alert me regarding messages. Also it does not speak much; It's better at providing search results...

I was thinking about trying his new 4.3 pacman rom, but I always hated how JB roms always seemed to random reboot when I was sending texts. I do have google now on my CM9 rom, it's just an older version and the play store says I can't update. But does google now allow me to tell it to set a reminder and then have it remind me.
Assistant does that, although it seems to store the reminders internally rather than put them on the calendar as well.
every other jb rom i've used always had random reboots but so far with wit the new 4.2 i've had no reboots.
you can set reminders with google now 2 ways. time based or location based and it will send a notification. i like the location based because you can say remind me to buy milk when i'm near the store and will send a notification. it also doesn't store to the calendar and they dont make it very convenient to view upcoming reminders. if you want to add to calendar you can add calendar events instead of reminders.

I always thought that would be a good idea to be able to set reminders like "buy milk" and have it go off when you were by a store, didn't realize google now could do that. I'm on a 4.3 rom now, not sure if I will stay with it cause it does have some issues, but I do have google now, so maybe I should learn how to use it. How does it handle the location based reminders. Do you have to tell it what location to remind you at or will it go off any "store" that in theory sells milk?

Hey Patch,
I wanna start by thanking you a ton for your ROMS! I run your BeanStalk on my OG note and have not changed since.. I've read a lot about other ROMS but I'm so happy with my phone's performance that I just don't wanna venture into other roms. Again, thank you for making our devices stay relevant and updated!
As for the APP.. my girlfriend has an S4, and the stock Samsung email app seems to work within the parameters of your request: it runs both gmail and exchange (although Gmail isn't pushed, only pulled at a max frequency of every 15 minutes) and you can turn notifications of each individual account at will (IDK if it can be done automatically, but I could look into if you'd like).
Would this app work for your friend you think? If so, it could just be installed as an .apk and then run as system app.... couldn't it?
If you by any chance need the app to be uploaded, let me know, I'll gladly do it!

ohhhhhh, for some reason I figured it was someone running a custom ROM, LOL.
I guess I should never assume.
On the playstore I stumbled upon this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trtf.blue
Haven't really really tried it 'cause all the accounts I use are either gmail or google apps for business, so I just use the stock gmail app.
The description seems to match everything you state is required, so I hope it helps!
Try k9. I use to use it back in the day.
