how to check radio version? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
I'm running ChunkyDroidROM, which is a really lite version of windows mobile, and darkstone froyo android. I looked around in windows mobile a bit, but I couldnt figure out how to check which radio version I had.
How can I find this?

Settings --> About Phone --> Software Version (If you are running Manila)
Else when you boot up bottom of the white/black screen says "R" with some numbers after that.

Problem installing PocketCMD/Console on T-Mobile

I have reverted back to my T-Mobile Rom until I could solve some stability problems. I have version 3.14.40 ENG 11/26/02.
Radio version 6.18
Protocol version: 324e4
I have installed PocketConsole rebooted and then PocketCMD which are basically the only 2 programs I have installed. When I click on PocketCMD, nothing happens. I double click, nothing happens. The pocketConsole applet appears to work ok. I just can't get PocketCMD to bring open the window.
Does anyone know what is going on? It worked fine under the SER 1.2.

This thread said to adjust the registry as follows:
To make PocketConsole run on Windows Mobile 5, you have to change the
registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Console\OutputTo
to value 0.
A quick test and... it works.

Sx56: Downgrading Radio Stack and other issues

Hey guys, ive been reading many threads regarding issues with the sx56, but after going through most of them, it seems ive been left with more questions. Anyway, my problem is , first of all the reception sucks, signals drop every now and then and i hate saying "sorry? ur breaking up" now from what ive learnt so far from most of the posts is that this "signal" issue is due to the radio stack. My siemens sx56 is running:
Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003
Model No.: PW10B1
ROM version : A.30.09.ENG
ROM date : 01/01/04
Radio Version : A.33.02
Protocol Version : 1.3.3
now, i have been thinking that maybe i should try downgrading the radio stack while still using ppc2003 , but ive seen many posts in which people have bricked their phones due to downgrade.
Another thing is i forgot what was the default radio version before the ppc2003 upgrade (as i think the signal strength was somewhat better prior to this upgrade) So just to be on the safe side, could any of you recommend me which radio stacks i can use? the ones i see on LumpiStefans site are:
RSU Version 3.23
RSU Version 4.16
RSU Version 4.21
RSU Version A20.10
RSU Version 6.24.20
RSU Version 6.25.02
from what i have figured the A20.10 might be the one which was originally installed in the phone when it came with ppc2002 just a guess since there are no other versions above which has an A in the start. But would downgrading kill my phone?
Now the next problem is the volume problem, that INCREASING ring is quite stupid, ive tried disabling the PDA volume and let the phone volume on full, the increasing ring problem goes away but it raises another problem of JUST ONE RING thats it, it just doesnt keep on ringing, just rings once and then goes silent. Do tell me if this is also a radio stack problem or is there any solution for it.
And yeah , finally, is windows mobile 5.0 any good? is it better than the windows mobile pocket pc 2003? and will it work on the sx56? in fact, are there any other OS besides ppc2002-ppc2003 which would work on sx56?
Thanks.

The A20.10 and the 6.xx Version should work on your phone, cause it's a PW10B-Model....
Flashing of Radio Stack is everytime little bit danderous like all flashing.
If the process doing fine, there should be no problem. I would do removing the sim and doing a hardreset before flashing the radiostack....

This is an issue of the A30.0x ROMs. If you're going to use the 4.01.12 then there won't be the increasing sound problem.....

There is no WM 5.0 available for the Wallaby devices. Newest, but in my eyes really buggy ROM Version is WM2003 Second Edition....
Only othe rOS running on the Wallaby is Linux, but until now it's not running as complete, as you can use your phone and all the other functions....
Stefan
thank u for the reply stefan! just a few more quick questions:
1. How do i soft/hard reset? iam sorry iam new to pocket pc's.
2. The ROM u mentioned ,4.01.12, does it have any bugs i should be aware of?
3.Which radio stack do you think is better? the 6.xx or A20.10?
4.How do i install the radio stack and the rom? i downloaded the radio stack ZIP file and the rom is being downloaded. The radio stack zip file has no WIN32 executable file. Do i need to copy it over the phone ? how?
5. Should i install the rom first or the radio stack?
Thanks.
1. Softreset is pushing your stylus once in the little hole on the left side at the bottom.
For Hardreset you have to unscrew your stylus and push twice in the very little hole on the right side at the bottom.
2. The 4.01.12 has like all other WM2003 for the Wallaby the problem that under certain circumstands the sd-card will be formatted. I have used WM2003 for about 2 weeks and had this problem once.
3. Don't know which one is better. Never used one of them cause i have a PW10A-Model
4. You have to put the files in one folder on your SX56 and run the exe directly on the device. Pay Attention to have enough power....
5. It depends on you.....
Stefan
ok this is weird... i upgraded my rom to 4.01.12, after the O2 Screen, normal setup procedure comes.. the thing which bothered me was when i clicked on DEVICE INFORMATION..it is now showing model PW10A-MODEL whereas its a PW10B model, says so on the sticker, and the radio stack is still A.33.02 :S
its working though signal problems are still there... i tried the A20.10 and 6.xxx radio stack versions but they dont wanna upgrade , they give messages like "upgrade failed or retry". Should i try other RSU versions like 4.21??
or maybe i need to try that sd-bootloader method? if so, how?
ok you can ignore my previous post about radio stack, i guess i found the solution.
Radio stack upgrade only works if you copy the 4 files of any radio stack archive to the WINDOWS ROOT FOLDER OF YOUR WALLABY DEVICE!
copying to a seprate folder or anywhere else results in 1% hangup or upgrade failed messages. IT ONLY WORKS WHEN YOU COPY THE FILES TO THE WINDOWS ROOT FOLDER OF THE DEVICE . I just upgraded the radio stack to 6.24.00, lets see if it solves my the problem of bad and breaking up signals.
I still havent found out why my wallaby shows PW10A though

This depends on the ROM used. PW10A is static in the ROM. If you want it, I'm sure I can make a ROM where it's Type is PW10F .....
Stefan
its the \WINDOWS folder.
And the ROM i used was 4.01.12.
By the way, that 6.24.00 RSU kicks butt! havent came across any signal problems at all. Thanks a lot stefan! this forum rules!
and do let me know about this model version problem, do i need to install any other ROM which will display the correct model version i.e PW10B ??
Got fustrated
I hat the 4.01.16 ROm with 6.02 RSU, I've tryed to upgrade to 6.25.02, copy all files to Windows and the Upgrade to startup, but I kept at 1%, do a reset and after 10 minutes I got an error, now my phone is off, I cannot turned on, in settings I still had version 6.02 of RSU, If I use the Phone icon in Control Panel it says the fhone is off, turn it on and try again and there's the wait icon in the windows.
How can I restore my settings?, perhaps I tryied to updagre with poor storage space, the MS Voice Command eated allmost all RAM and I had to increase it, also I left the SIM while upgrading, any help will be wellcome.

please let me know if you find the solution...I have the same problem
Thanks
Yes
Yes, The solution was to put all files on the windows folder and execute the update program from that location, the procedure continues to 100%, and then, I think it reset my machinne, and when it boot again I got the new RSU installed and the phone was able to turn on again, automatically.
Good Luck

I have PW10B1 model and I load the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1 but I still have problems with RSU..I tried almost all RSU from ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wallaby/ but no succees...
if you have the same model maybe you can send me by email your RSU version...please!
my email is [email protected]oo.com
I have 6.25.02
I'm using the 6.25.02 version, the very same files that had failed with then 1% problem, the trick was no to put anything in the starup folder, do not soft reset before the procedure.
Simply navigate to your Windows folder with any file explorer and execute the update program. Give it time to finish, ensure that the procedure reach 100%.
Good Luck

I just did this but when I'm starting at 1% the status bar is disappearing and it seems that is doing nothing...is this normal?
Did you had the status bar until 100%?
Perhaps you have a wrong ROM for that RSU
Remember that you must have the rigth ROM for a given RSU, all Win2003 require RSU version 6.x, if you hace downgraded the ROM you'll need an older RSU.
Sorry
Yes, I saw my status bar reach 10%, 20% and so on, ultil it reach 100%

Can't upgrade any ROM's- Error 260 (detailed description)

Hello,
I am new to this site, and also to WM based phones. I have run several searches on the forums for this problem and spent at least 3 hours today trying to run through the results, but I haven't found an answer that fits my circumstances. If the answer is on the forums, please forgive me, but I probably missed it because most posts start with one topic and become something entirely different within 5-12 pages.
So I have a Cingular 8525 with these stats:
Rom Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.0.0
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
Windows Mobile 5.0
I am working from a Windows XP Pro, SP2 box with ActiveSync 4.5 installed.
I downloaded 2 different update packages. The first was the latest shipped ROM, the second was the official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade. I have a USB cable attached to a USB 2.0 port. This is what happens when I try to upgrade with either program (I have done this both with the SIM card in and without it in):
Method 1:
I connect the 8525 to the USB cable and run ActiveSync. It connects and syncs, then I run the Upgrade program I downloaded. It starts up, then I lose the ActiveSync connection to the 8525. A second or so later, I get the rainbow color bands across the screen and it sits there. The program gets to the part about how you might brinck your phone, and I continue with the upgrade process. It gets to the part where it is supposed to check for the phone's current ROM, and it shows a blank instead of the ROM's version.
Method 2:
I start the upgrade program, then when it gets to the part about connecting your 8525, I connect it to the USB cable, then run ActiveSync. After it syncs, I continue with the process. This lets me avoid the problem with the rainbow screen and it identifies the current ROM on the phone. I continue the upgrade process, and it gets to the part where it is supposed to begin actually doing the upgrade. Then the program says that there is a USB connectivity problem, error 260. It gives me the option to reset the 8525 and see if it recovers correctly (which it always does), then try again, but I get the same effect.
I can't figure out what to do, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
An Update:
On the rainbow screen, it says:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.11
USB
Ok, this time I downloaded the latest update from HTC and ran it again. I got the same result as method 1, but even though it didn't show the existing ROM version, I let it run and it actually did update!
I now how WM 5 (still) and:
ROM Version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radio Version: 1.40.30.00
Protocol version: 32.73.7020.16H
So far so good, but man that startup tone is LOUD! I am guessing that there was either a problem with the first upgrade I downloaded, or I just chickened out and didn't let the upgrade continue when I didn't see what I expected...
Hope this helps someone else!

[Q] Downgrade HTC HD2 WP7 back to 6.5

Hi,
I am working on getting my HD2 ready for WP7 + Android dual boot. I read that in order to make sure the Darkstone RAM SD build works properly with WP7 you need an already configured version of it. The current version I have is broken so i'm trying to get back to windows 6.5 so I can configure a new Darkstone build and upgrade everything back to WP7 + Android again.
Anyways, I'm stuck at the downgrading. I've downloaded both originals roms from the forum here and from htc.com and tried to run the from the bootloader (not the magldr but the red/green/blue thingie)
I keep getting the error about incorrect ROM versions. I tried to downgrade my radio to 15.26.50 but doing so resulted in the same error. My current radio version is 2.15.50.14
The HTC ROM i downloaded is named: RUU_Leo_S_Vodafone_NL_3.14.172.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship so my guess is that should work fine with my current Radio version.
Now i did read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14182187&postcount=3 and it sounds like a very possible solution but I can't quite figure out what i should do on the phone. The bootloader doesn't give any instructions, but perhaps he meant magicldr?
I'm quite lost here and I think i would have already bricked my phone twices if the HSPL3 didn't had a good check (From what i've read on the forum)
Did you really follow all the steps from the link you posted?
Especially if you get the "wrong ROM" message, did you use your serial in order to find out which ROM is the correct one for you?
Another question: What SD card do you use? If it´s bigger than 2GB, it tends to make problems. Try a smaller one.
I've managed to follow the steps after all using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317 (Was searching in magldr at first). At one moment the screen turned black for a quick second with a warning sign and started over again? Now it seems to be finished. Guess stupid me made a post too fast after all.
I was using a 4GB class 2 SD and i figured the HTC rom is based on my serial because i had to insert it before downloading.
Windows mobile 6.5 seems to be running smooth now so I can continue with my evil dual boot!

HTC Mozart 7 : Available update: HTC Update for Windows Phone (from 7.0.7392)

I have a HTC Mozart 7, ROM Asia, jailbreak with chevronwp7, and upgraded sd-card to 32 GB, used in Thailand, and updated to the last 7.0.7392. Today, 23/07/2011, when I pluged it into my PC and run the Zune. it's ask me for update from HTC. After, I finished the update, my firmware still be 7.0.7392. I can't see anything different from the previous usage. But, I can notice that the change is concern about version of software for HTC itself in settings->about menu.
Before:
Firmware revision number: 2250.09.12902.707
Radio software version: 5.51.09.06_22.30.50.09U
Bootloader version: 1.26.2250.1(111641)
After:
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.13301.707
Radio software version: 5.65.09.25_22.45.50.21U
Bootloader version: 1.33.2250.1(123643)
** and I still can use Tom XAP, Application Deployment, or XAPDeployX to install any .xap file as normal jailbreak as same as before doing the update.
anyone has noticed another changing?
The 7.0.7392 is the WP7 OS version.
These updates have been rolling to several WP7 phones and updates hardware drivers that communicate with the OS itself, improving several general aspects but it does not include any OS update.
Yep. I think so. The Update from HTC is only for update its software/driver version.
has anyone with T-Mobile Germany HTC Mozart original or flashed HTC Europe recieved this yet?
probelm with my new mozart 7
enyone help me..
i have update my mozrt
but want i update its my pc was shutdown
then my mozart can not open..
can you enter to boot loader menu? by pressing volume down (-) and press the power button. (two button togetter, until it open) if you can see the boot loader screen. (colorfull). I think you can find the Mozart ROM and re-flash it again follow your location.
