[Q] NaviPanel Auto-Rotate - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with the Auto-rotate of NaviPanel.
When I start Navigon's Mobile Navigator 7.4 the Auto-rotate function kicks in, rotates the screen another 90 degrees. Thus Navigon displays 800x480 px which the HD2 shows as 480x800 and I end up missing the bottom of my Navigon-screen and the right side showing the home screen like shown in image 1, This corrects itsself after a few seconds to image 2.
How do I solve this?
/ The Navigon orientation is set to '90° to the left' which works perfect when NaviPanel isn't functional.

In my opinion its just a compatibility problem. I have experienced this issue with some other programs too, but with no answer or solution from anyone here or even the developers themselves. I'd just think your best bet would be to just find another navigation program.

I did have the same problem. I have solved the problem. First of all, in the settings in the navigator, set how you like to screen to be. Then download BSB-tweaks. Open it. Go to Menu->Rotation. Select Option->Add application. Follow instruction given by the BsB: Select the navigator. It will then start. Shake the phone when navigon have loaded completly. You vill now se the navigon in the list. Select it. Save and you will have to do a soft reset. Test it... Working like a charm

XDA IIi Questions

Can anyone assist with a couple of questions I have:
1. Since installing all the various bits of software on my IIi the screen rotation icon has disappeared from the bottom right of the today screen. Is there a way to get it back?
2. Because of the above, I re programme the camera, button 3 to rotate the screen, however it seems to default back to Camera after a soft reset. Is this a know problem?
Cheers

We have been discussing this over on TekGuru. It is a problem others are experiencing as well and so far no one has figured out a way to get it back or what causes it to disapear. Presumably you still have the screen rotation icon on your O2 Active Screen.
If you use or decide to use SPB Pocket Plus, you can use it to put screen rotation icons on your Today Screen.
The other thing to do is to assign it to a hardware button as yu have done. I assigned it to the calendar button when holding it down (I am using Vito's ButtonMapper which allows each hardware button to do two different functions).
It does not default back to the original setting after a soft reset but it may be that the camera button works in a different way.
Thanks for the update, my only thought on this is that it seemed to disappear after I added the additional software from the o2 CDROM.
Hopefully this will be fixed in the next ROM update, which hopefully will include Blackberry support

Subdisplay is fickle !!!

Hello all: I really like the subdisplay feature of the HTC 7501, but it seems to be pretty fickle !!! I mean, it activates when I put the keyboard cover over (but only sometimes), and even when it activates, it will go away with the slightest motion of the keyboard.
Is this happening to all of you? I have searched in this forum, and there appear to be a few registry tweaks that modify the settings of the subdisplay, but do not solve the problem.
All I am trying to get the subdisplay to appear (and stay) as long as the keyboard cover is on. That way, I can see an incoming call's phone number and be able to answer it without removing the cover.
This shouldn't be too hard, should it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
ditto
happens to me too. bloody irritating (until i ditched the hardware keyboard)
Someone posted a Youtube video about this stuff. It was mentioned in a previous post in xda-developers but here is the link to the video:

I have the same problem, I have asked in other threads for a way to toggle this manually, can a developer help us out PLEASE?
Also I found the commands in the registry that turn it on or off, but it relies on the magnetic switch, and there isn't a registry setting to toggle the setting to another feature such as a button....
The sub display turns on depending on the location of the keyboard. It's kind of a trial and error thing to find the exact location for the keyboard. For my unit, I have to nudge the keyboard a tiny bit to the right hand side (with the sub on the bottom & facing me) for the sub display to activate. I wish they would have designed it so that the presence of a keyboard is enough to activate the sub display...
I tried to find how activate the subdisplay via software, without success.
Then I decided to remove the bottom bar (I used vijay utility) and I installed resco today plugin in the bottom part of the screen. Turning on the display I see the status with keyboard closed.
Sometime I see the subdisplay menu so I move the kyboard to see the resco status
is there any way to jsut turn off the sub display?
Just turn off the unit, or place the keyboard like you usually would and you will see contacts/calendar
Mine rarely works, cant belive they missed this in QA.
It is really anoying, wonder if the X7501 suffers from this as well.

...Moreover I found the subdisplay really usefull. It shows even the picture of the contact, using ATHENA with BT headset is great!
Many features, bur also no way to have it working with PIEFRAMA case (the one with transparent window to see the subdisplay). Infacts, because of the cover, the magnets are weaker and the alignment is even more critcal!
I think we will pay to have a button activated subdisplay
Just to have an idea of the functions it has (call status, battery, network, data connection, sound):
1) close the keyboard, activate it, and slide the volume slider
2) receive a call from a contact with picture
3) receive an sms or mms or e-mail (3 different way of displaying)
4) Is working in any VGA resolution
The best solution could be to use a button to activate/disactivate it when the keyboard is closed

Indeed, mine is a 7501, so this appears to be an ATHENA device issue, and not limited to the 7500.
Too bad, such a great idea and so poorly implemented!
its a magnetic switch in the top of the unit the magnet on the keyboard must latch the swith for it to activate..
I have NO issues with mines always works...
if you run the right side of the KB along the right side on the unit you will see the subdisplay activates
See Photos
x7501 here, and same problem. This is one of the top 5 problems with the Athena. At this point I just pretend this 'feature' doesnt exist; I rely on my Jabra to tell me who is calling.

Slow screen rotation / device speed

I've had a couple of units (I had to return the first unit because of a possible 'dust under the screen'-issue). But the first unit that I had, and that I returned, was quicker overall, especially on the screen rotation. It was especially noticeable when sliding out the keyboard from the home screen and then press '1' in the popup launch menu: whereas my first unit would launch the SMS app almost instantly with no spinning wheel, my current unit brings up the spinning wheel and takes about 2-3 sec before opening the SMS app.
I did some investigating and pinned down the problem to the screen rotation: it doesn't launch the SMS until it has finished rotating the screen, and since the rotation is slower overall, it brings up the spinning wheel.
My first unit blew me away overall with its speed. My second unit is generally quick, but that's it. I've also read at least one review stating that his phone was very slow, as if the CPU was constantly working.
FWIW, my ROM version is 1.14.402.0 (unfortunately I didn't check this on my first unit), and the radio version is 0.24.30.24.
So how quick are your phones, especially on the screen rotation and opening up the SMS app from the quick launch menu?
mine is 1.14.407.1
The phone is very fast switching between V to H (if there are no application running) and it takes ~2 sec to enter sms
switching between H to V is slower...
You have a slightly newer ROM.
Anyone else who cares to share their what ROM version they're running?
My ROM is 1.14.401.1. I notice short lag when switching between landscape and portrait, but it's short enough to not bother me.
My rom is 1.14.404.0. Works perfect, no lags in menus.
Anyone problems with the gps? Mine doesn't get a fix. Resetted three times to factory defaults and now working. Hopefully it stays working

No problem with the GPS. On the contrary it gets a fix within seconds even indoors. Might be an issue with nav-software (I use Garmin XT).
I edited my home screen by removing the missed calls (you get the missed call icon in the status bar anyway), mail (don't use it), getting started, and the weather app (quite useless given that it doesn't show the current weather on the home screen), hoping for a speed improvement in the screen rotation. Now it's subjectively a little faster, not by much but enough to make it worthwhile.

coreplayer plays audio in spurts only when locked

Play pauses intermittently playing in short bursts as soon as screen is locked. most annoying.
Am I the only one to experiece this?
Anyone got any ideas?
I too had this problem. Playback would keep playing in spurts with major brief pauses as I walked along. The solution for me was to go into the start menu, then settings and tap on lock. Under the display tab i changed the unlock display from Windows Default (the slidey bar type) to Windows Classic.
Now i don't have any pauses from coreplayer when the phone is locked.
I also disabled the auto screen orientation change as it seemed to be that the pauses would happen when the phone tried to change orientation but the problem didn't go away until I changed the lock to classic. Before the phone was unusable as a mobile music player (unless I left the screen unlocked) - now it is only unusable as a phone due to the call quality problems.
Sorted.. thanks alot. My call quality aint great but I find it useable. another strange one is when I have the toshiba home screen on I often get the 'not enough memory' prompt, sometimes with just a couple of programs running. Ihate the guady stripey thing anyway but there does seem to be a ram issue.

I have the same issue, but in my case I left the win default lock screen with slider. Instead, I tried to play mp3 files with windows media player (the default one) - it is working properly so far (1 day of testing while walking)
what I would like to be able to solve though is switching off the screen completely so it does not light up in the pocket waiting for me to slide for unlock...
If I press the power button, the playback stops...any suggestions please?
One way is to use psShutXP
Then try to make the divice go to Display off not power of.
Another way is to use AE Button Plus
Then assign a key function for Display off. for example you can assign double volume down for Display off.
i can do lock , standby , anything with a bt headset ...
btw coreplayer has its own option to "turn off display" look for it in the options menu , should work for you guys

Band new SGS2, Should Home Screen auto rotate Horisontaly/Verticaly?

Hello guys, I got this new unit and I already tried to calibrate/ check auto rotate option in settings.
Should my home screen rotate while i move my phone horizontally and/or vertically.
My icons are always in vertical mode.
If i go to gallery and choose picture i taken with the cell it rotates fine.
But if I go into internet browser ( the default one ) it takes like 4-5 tries shakes and moves my phone so it finally works <== this also seems odd shouldn't this works like faster or on first try ????
//Edit: needless to say , factory stock on everything nothing installed apart from opera mini and skype.
Everything else is default out of the box.
But my main question is shouldn't home screen follow my phone movement?
no, custom roms do though, like cm7
So no home screen/icons on it will follow if I place my phone in landscape mode hmm. Also what about the locked screen ( default one ) with the clock on it. Should that move? or same like home screen its only vertical.
Also I find my sensor in apps ( any app for that matter) to be really slow or unresponsive :S You need to move your phone in all directions like good 40-50secs or even more for it to switch into landscape mode :S
If anyone cares I re-calibrated the sensor but this time NOT on flat surface but in my hand the best I can and matched my movements so I works the best like im holding it in every day use.
Fixed my slow-ness or non-responsiveness about landscape / vertical switching.
=)
