I use the calendar on my phone a lot, with in fact 5 Google calendars in use and on view at the same time across 3 different Google accounts. Unfortunately the SGS2 calendar is sadly deficient with regard to the AOSP calendar as I used with Cyanogenmod 6.1 on my Hero previously and I would very much like to swap it out for the AOSP calendar. Can anyone advise on how to do this? I have seen this described for the original Galaxy and variations but have not been able to implement this on the SGS2. Many thanks in advance for any assistance!
Disadvantages of Samsung Calendar with regard to AOSP calendar:
Black background makes many appointments difficult to see as calendar colours are optimised for white background as with Google calendar web interface and AOSP calendar app. There does not appear to be any support for a theme or colour option setting.
All-day events are shown right at the top of the page and so are easily missed on Samsung Calendar but kept in view on with AOSP. See attached 'day view' screenshot with no all-day events visible despite week and month view showing 3 all day events that day.
All-day events lasting more than one day are shown separately for each day in most views with Samsung calendar and so it is not easy to see that they span several days. In week and month view, they are often reduced to tiny squares which have no label and can be really hard to see- see attached screenshot- can you see that there are 3 all day events on Saturday 21st but only 2 on the other days in the purple calendar? AOSP calendar would show them as continuous events spanning several days.
No hyperlink support: AOSP calendar allows you to click through on a phone number mentioned in an appointment to dial it, or the location described to do a maps search, the Samsung Calendar does not permit this.
Screenshots taken with this app (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.geeksoft.screenshot&feature=search_result) which decided to shift all of the colours here for some reason although I don't think it significant here- it still illustrates the above points adequately.
Hardware/ Software specs:
Samsung Galaxy S2, unbranded, unlocked, from Carphone Warehouse UK
Rooted
LauncherPro plus
Updated to current stock firmware
Calendars in use and on view here:

On my wife and my joint Google account

Hi guys and gals. Hoping you can point me in the right direction. I have been using Windows Mobile for several years now. Originally using a HP hx4700 PDA for contacts and appointments. This came pre-installed with Pocket Informant. I then upgraded to a Toshiba TG01 running Windows Mobile 6.5 and have been using it until now without any prooblems. I bought and have been using Pocket Informant with this too. The features that are a must for me are:
1) able to sync with laptop/desktop
2) ability to create appointment from contact
3) being able to send SMS through the appointment screen
4) being able to copy appointment and pasting to another date for regular appointments
5) being able to have different categories for different types of appointments by showing on daily agenda via different colours
I then bought a Motorola Atrix (first time Android) and was disappointed with it.
I have just bought a Nokia Lumia 800 running Windows Phone 7.5. I cannot do any of the above except sync. Does anyone know of any apps (paid or free) that will allow this?
I would like to have all details held on the phone and not sync'ed to a web/cloud unless someone can point me in the right direction. I once tried this with Google Calender and it deleted nearly 1500 appointments. Luckily, I was able to restore from a backup. Past appointments cannot be deleted.
Any help appreciated.
sometimes when updating or changing ROMS, gCal doesn't sync my sub-calendars.
This methodology also syncs my original source iCal "delegates" from OSX.
Here's some steps that may help others.
Accts & Sync/Google/uncheck all
Menu/Manage Apps/Calendar Pad & Calendar Storage/Clear data on both
Apps/Calendar/Multi-calendar (upper left) / add active calendars
Accts & Sync/Google/recheck and sync now
I haven't figured the perfect order to make this work every time, but one way or another ............
Hi,
I am thinking of buying a HTC one mini 2 (in stead of my iphone 4s).
I have been reading a lot on android lately, but I have got a few more questions before continuing with the transition to android.
I want to keep the phone as it is delivered (no root and or other rom installed on it)
Is it possible then to remove all app icons on the lockscreen using htc sense 6.
I have found how to change the app icons on lockscreen, but not to remove them from lockscreen.
Leaving the lockscreen only with clock ?
Is it possible to setup dropbox to upload automatically all new pictures taken from the device when dropbox app gets opened ?
Does somebody knows an easy why to sync the following to be able to export from ios to android
* Contacts (i have found a way with importing icloud contacts to macbook and then exporting to google services)
* Calendar (i have found a long way this can be done using google calendar and share ios calendar to public, then importing calendar to google and close ios public share, perhaps a smarter way can be used).
* Notes (didn't find any sync possibility to import icloud notes to android) Is there a notes app installed by default on htc one mini 2 ?
Thanks for the help !
HTC has his own Sync Suite, but you can it also use sync using MyPhoneExplorer or other tools. I am happy with my HTC One mini 2 (I came from Oppo Find 5). Only the support from developers needs more time, I think. There is currently no forums section, no custom recovery ...
Hi all - my 1st post.
Android 5.0.2, EMUI 3.1
Viewing my 0365 account in either standard calendar or aCalendar, I can't see any events prior to this month (except recurring anniversaries).
If I view my old Google calendar, I see events before this month fine.
Checked my old Samsung S3 and I can see previous months' events (with 0365) fine, so I don't think it's a 0365 problem. Or is it?
There doesn't seem to be an option in the menus to extend the viewing date backwards.
Hoping someone can help
