Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum.I have just bought a hero off ebay second hand and I am really pleased with it.However,It is unlocked but it was originally locked to the 3 network.
I am using my o2 simplicity simcard in it and I believe that o2 don't support this phone (is this true?).
I got the settings for my mobile internet and mms from this website and inserted and saved them in the phone but when I turn on the mobile internet it says "disconnected because service is unavailable". So I thought about doing a factory reset on it,my question is, if I do this will it 'relock' the phone again?
Many thanks.

You need to check your APN settings, as I don't think they are correct.
Go to Menu, settings, Wireless Networks, Mobile Networks, APN Settings (IIRC).
I think you will need to get the O2 ones, and add them
Thanks Pulser_g2,I will try that.
Do you know if it will lock the phone again if I do the factory reset?
Thanks.

And to answer your second question, a factory reset will not sim lock the phone (at least, thats what I know)

Correct. Nothing I'm aware of can re-lock it, and that includes flashing pretty much everything...

Yesterday, during a conversation the phone lost the gsm network. There is no way to connect again, i tryed with different sim's. My X7500 is not cid locked, installed ap4 weeks ago with radio 1.57 and it worked fine till yesterday. When i enter in manual mode to search available networks it shows the list but i can't access to it, failing to register to network. All the sim's are ok because they work with other phones and i can access the sim through sim manager normally. I tryed to install radio 1.50 but nothing, gone back to 1.57 but nothing again. Tryed to hard reset but nothing. Flashed to ap5 beta but nothing. I don't know what i should do. Does anyone have an idea?? I need my phone again... thank you

What about the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? Are they working? Did you check the Airplane Mode in Comm Manger if it was switched off and Phone was swiched on. Any AP memerbers will help you resolve your problem. Please note that the SIM card must be removed from your device before doing any upgarde (AP4, AP5, AP3).

First of all I will check the SIM. Just go to IL TELEFONINO store closest to you and ask for a SIM change. If the new one doesn't work too (and it works in another phone) , they will assist asking about TIM IMEI blacklist

I have a corporate Tim, working for a bank. I called 119 and they said that the Imei in not blacklistet, but they see just blacklistet Tim-branded-Imei. My x7500 is not branded at all. And my sim is working with other phones. In google i can't see any useful information.
In phone/menu/options/ Band tab – network type and band select both in Auto? Have you try to re-run Network Wizard?

Try putting another TIM SIM in your X7500 (from your colleagues will be the best, just to be sure). If this works... change the SIM card. If doesn't.. service

Yes i just tried, it doesn't work. Really think the only way is service....
But first i have to install orgininal German wm6 Rom and i have spl 3.5
If I have your situation, I will re-flash again and again same or different rom version.
Hope to clear some weak memory, same to radio rom as well.
With 3.5, make sure it is dead before hand-in. hehe

With "not TIM" ROM it works? If doesn't service is the only solution.
In this case ask to CMONEX, she can assist you in manually downgrading to 1.2 SPL
I can't believe it! I installed wm6 german rom for spl 3.5 installing again radio 1.50 and it's working! C'mon i just tryed radio 1.50 before.... maybe it's the combination wm6 and radio 1.50. can't understand this.
no not again. it worked for about 2 minutes. it's dead again
after flashing again and again and again .... working
thank you all for bringing ideas

1. Has this situation been occuring since the beginning? I mean , have you ever connected to the network?
2. Is your phone simlocked? If not , I'd suggest you to check if another sim card (preferably another company) works properly. If works , try changing the sim card first.
No Network
Hi,
Im also struggling with the same problem, its most frustrating being without the fundamental function of a mobile phone. Im on O2. It all started when 2.1 updated on my X10, since then my phone doesnt connect to O2 network.
Ive tried removing the sim, cleaning etc. then putting back in.
Tried swapping my sim with a friend (same network), no problem with the sim.
Just tried re-booting my phone (re-updating), no joy.
The last resort i guess before sending it in to O2 is to throw out of the window?
Any ideas?
Thanks
p.s. new HD camera does nothing but 'force close'.
thx for replay
my phone unlocked n and am try another simcard with another company its woks n am check my sim card in another phone its not work
first am got update (change region nomber method) befor 4 days ago n its work with me after update without problem but yesterday am not there is no network
i feel like my sim card banned from virign network so i don't know where is the problem in my sime card or in virgin network but am not feel i have problem in my phone coz its work with another sim card n my sim not work in another phone.

I remember somebody had problems with new iPhone and old original ATT SIM-cards. ATT just gave a new SIM-card - it was a kind of incompability. Maybe you should go to Virgin tech guys and ask them to fix the problem.
I have strange thing with my phone when it was locked - I used old proxy-SIM and it worked fine with 1.6, but after I flashed it up to 2.1 it worked around 16 hours and eventually told me that there is no service - just like yours. Nobody had similar experience, but look like strange things are possible with those really smart phones. After unlocking - no problems for now.

me too i think i have problem with my sim card, am already contacted the service clients but not solution till now !!!!!
i think after update, x10 will made variation of m-voltage which supported to sim cards, so directly burned( if the variation of voltage related with used area of sim-cards ,that's depends on our operators)

I don't think, the X10 can damage SIM-card since SE always targets world market and takes in attention any regional differences. Virgin is not a real carrier, it is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and uses Orange network as an underlying carrier. The last resort is to claim that you lost you phone (with the SIM card, of course) and ask for replacement. They can charge you (I used to pay $25 for T-Mobile USA in the nearest dealer shop, but didn't do any research since I needed the phone badly).
There is another possibility - as I know, ATT automatically changes the plan for their subscribers to a data-plan that is obviously more expensive as they recognize the new phone as a smartphone. It is weird practice, but see - it is possible, so be sure what's going on with your carrier.
please help me with network problem
i was trying different roms to flash, it was not good enough for me after with recovery i restore my backup original rom but no network, no signal, the sam problem with other roms, i changed sim cards as well no signal, when i make phone call there is a message ( CALL NOT SENT, PLEASE DIAL AN EMERGENCY NUMBER)

i think you restore you old rom with wrong Baseband so try to search in xda you find which is the match baseband to ur old rom thats all
I just bought an i9300 locked to Orange UK. I want to use my o2 UK sim card with it. had to transfer to a micro sim, which went fine and new sim works ok in old phone with adaptor.
first i tried an app called GalaxSimUnlock. This looked like it had done the job, but i couldnt connect to o2. Restored EFS back to original state. I then decided to go with a true unlock via one of those gsm companies, and they sent me a code. Code was accepted, i get bars of signal, but no network connectivity. it says "Unable to connect. Try later" when i try to connect to o2.
My IMEI looks good (353xxxxxxxxx080) but i just cant get on o2. Any ideas where i can go next?
Baseband version is i9300XXLFB, rooted with CF6.4

Remove your IMEI from the post. It's supposed to be confidential. Also as for your connectivity problems, try adjusting the APN settings. Can you make a call or text people?
Should you print your IMEI number?
circuit 89 you beat me to it.

thought the IMEI might be important. "Not registered on network" when i try to call, texts don't get sent. i did check AP settings with what's on the o2 site and it looked good. will look for more to try
tried using APN settings from ny old phone but still no good. put sim back in old phone to make sure its ok and it is. This should work right? when you get a valid unlock code the phone should then take any sim... right?
I got a T-mobile UK phone, looked. Used the first tool, stuck my old o2 sim in and worked fine!
I don't know why you're getting issues.

Hi all,
I'll explain my situation. I had a work supplied HTC Sensation. The most god-awful handset known to mankind... except the iPhone. I digress. We are on Vodafone UK. When it came to renewing the work phones I was given an "upgrade" iPhone 5s. Long story short, I'm not using it. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which was on T-Mobile. I was given it and I thought I'd give it a go as it has to be better than the HTC Sensation.
Firstly I put in my Vodafone SIM. As I expected it didn't work. I have checked the IMEI number and it hasn't been blacklisted. So I thought I'd unlock the phone and root it. I followed the advice in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701
After the first go of installing Jellybean which is what was on there initially I got to the end, rooted it and it wouldn't unlock using the method given. The method goes on to say that it works with ICS. So, I went through it again and installed ICS. Rooted it. Ran the unlock. Still locked.
Question 1: Is SIM lock the same thing as Network Lock?
At the moment, I have the stock ROM from the above thread for ICS installed. 4.0.3 I think it is. If I put my Vodafone UK SIM in this phone, when I try to make a call it says "Not registered on network". Tried following lots of advice in different threads. None worked. I thought, maybe that it can't register on the network as I am boosting my signal through a Sure Signal. I tried going to a place where I know I would normally get signal and tried doing it there. Still no luck. I keep digging and I come across the DEBUG MENU on the device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882796&page=4
It suggests this:
dial "*#197328640#" to enter debug menu
click "6 [common]"
click "6 [nv rebuild]"
click "2 [erases three partition!]"
Except in the 3rd option there is no menu option 2. I have kept digging and then came across the "Personalizatiob Status" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740167) and it shows this:
Network Lock
[OFF]
Network Subnet Lock
[OFF]
SP Lock
[OFF]
CP Lock
[OFF]
Please note that during all this my Vodafone SIM is NOT in this phone. It is in the HTC Sensation and is working just fine.
Question 2: Do I have to have my SIM in the phone when I do all this?
Question 3: How can I get this phone to register on the network with my existing Vodafone UK SIM that is working just fine?
I've tried the Galaxy S2 Unlock apps on the market store. The unlock code and unfreeze code show gibberish.
What am I missing? I don't actually care for using the stock Samsung ROMs because the phone is way out of warranty anyway. I just want to avoid having to use the iPhone I've been given.
Any advice welcome.
Any advice from anyone?
Cheers.

Nope, haven't tried that one. I will give it a go later on this evening. I've tried a couple of unlockers that have been recommended in other threads and neither have worked. I'll keep you posted.
Any thoughts on the other questions I had on the original post?
With regards to the iPhone, I think I'd rather stick with the HTC Sensation despite its multiple daily crashes/restarts and almost constant need for recharging.
I tried the app and it said everything was unlocked except for CSC Lock. Now, I did some reading on that lock and that seems to be a geographic lock applied by Samsung. As this phone was bought in the UK and I'm putting a UK sim in it, then this won't affect me because both the original TMobile SIM and my Vodafone SIM are UK.
It said my unlock code was 00000000. I doubt it is that, but on the slim chance it is, where do I even put the unlock code in?
Attached is a screenshot of the lock status from GalaxSim by Spocky.
It now shows everything is unlocked. Any ideas?
I can see the sim operator is listed as Vodafone and the registered operator is O2 according to that. Weird as it had a working T-Mobile sim in it prior to my getting it.
Thanks.
Any further ideas? There has to be something I've missed.
Well, I have still not managed to find out why this phone won't connect to the network. Sadly my old HTC Sensation has pretty much now become unusable and I've had no choice but to start using the iPhone provided by my work as I've not been successful in getting the S2 up and running.
I cannot believe just how bad the iPhone is. I've always said they were rubbish from day one despite having never owned one. Now I have one, I can justifiably say that I was correct in that they are dreadful things, however, I didn't quite realise just how rubbish they really are. Now I know.
Hi All
Recently bought a lovely new unlocked V10 (H901) from AliExpress for £78.
Before buying I did check that it operated on ALL the 2/3/4G bands that Plusnet use - the same as EE.
On inserting the plusnet sim it refuses to register on the 4G network. It has joined the 3G network a couple of times and made calls/texts but then loses connection again.
Spoken to Plusnet and EE but no joy.
Any ideas before I limit my losses and sell it on Ebay?
SOLVED!
Got into the hidden/service menu menu by using *#546368#*901#
Saw loads of stuff that I didn't understand but found one option about connecting automatically to networks that was switched "off" so I set it to "on".
Hey presto! When I came back out the phone registered on the network straight away and works fine on 4G for data too.

Is your's the H901? If not you'll need a different ending to the code that matches your model number.
