Strange small unnamed app - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

In Manage applications i am see strange unnamed application what attributed like:
icon like Alarm API app
size 44.0 kb
version 1.0
it app as i can see in it info no permission required
but i can't uninstall it
What is this?

This probably is the alarm application.
If you really want to remove it you can easily root your phone (look for the universal root topic) and then remove it using an app like titanium backup.
cheers

I've got the blank app too!
I've just been thru the list of applications on my X10 Mini Pro and I've got the 44kb blank-named application at the top of my list as well!
The previous poster mentioned it might be the the Alarm but that's listed underneath the Alarm API which is under the blank app.
Hope that last sentence makes sense (I've already re-written it twice!) Would give you a screen shot but only have one phone with a camera on it

[APP] RockClock - FREE Alarm Clock

v1.5.0.3 RELEASED ! - [email protected]:15 - DISCONTINUED
RockClock is a simple FREE Alarm Clock for Windows Phone/Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Professional devices with .NET Compact Framework 3.5 (and above).
Being my first ever .NET application, RockClock started life as a simple wakeup timer…which would simply turn on my Blackstone and run another program for me at 30 minute intervals. Then a friend found a freeware font whilst browsing the web and suggested I adapted my program to be a simple alarm clock and 'RockClock' was born.
Main Features:
- 4 Alarms, which will wake the device from a standby state
- Alarm Sound selection
- Adjustable Snooze timer
- Toggle UI elements
- Countdown Timer
- Stopwatch with laptimer
- Vibration option
- Clock colour selection
- Finger friendly UI
Please leave comments or bug reports as some feedback on my first ever program would be great.
POSTS SINCE UPDATE START HERE - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5875656#post5875656
Things left to do:
- Sort the alarms on the Clock screen into time order
- Flight-Mode On/Off Option (...having issues with this!)
- Quicker settings interface
- Integration with the System alarm clock so Manila and other applications recognise when the next alarm is due (…maybe)
Tested on WVGA (Blackstone) and VGA and QVGA device emulators.
If you like RockClock please feel free to donate… and inspire me to create more apps...or simply upgrade my handset!
In the event XDA Dev's becomes unavailable a mirror of this program is available on my site, which can be accessed by scanning my avatar or clicking HERE.
.
The ZIP File contains both a Windows Mobile Installer file or you can optionally install the CABS from the CABS folder in the ZIP.
Thank you very much. I will give it a try
Installed but could not run. Didn't even get an icon in Start Menu.
Tried running the EXE directly from the installed folder and I got these errors.
Tried it on:
1. Dopod D810, wm6.0 stock WWE ROM
2. HTC Touch Pro2, wm6.1 stock WWE ROM
both with .Net Compact Framework 2 & 3.5 installed
Hmmm...thanks for trying it out...it seems that the program I have to package this up is a bit naff so here's the CAB for the .NET SQL component.
Hopefully that'll get it working until I sort out the packager.
Got it working on my TP2 after installing the second cab. But I don't see how this is much different than the manilla alarm clock.

But what if you don't use Manila? And what if a person wants to develop something that started as a fun project?
Will give this app a go on my TouchPro2 running WM6.1 without Manila!

For me it's nicer to look at at night when I'm charging my phone and don't have a clock in the room than looking at the manila screen which is REALLY bright when on charge.
Any chances to get this for QVGA?

Sorry didn't have the device emulator installed....I just installed it and tested it and it seems to be working okay with both CAB's installed.
I've also amended the first post to say it works.

Yes good point. Would like to see touch scrolling on the setting page and maybe a snooze button when the alarm goes off.
I agree that this will look better at night with the darker color scheme.
After installing the RockClock cab i get a message
Code:
proc ok
invalid handle
The shortcut to launch the app has no icon, and launching the clock gives
Code:
The file rockclock cannot be opened. Either it is not signed etc etc
I installed the clock on the storage card and first the second cab too, then i tried to install the second cab in device memory, but it is the same.
Edit: After installing both cabs into device memory the same error "invalid handle" comes up, the shortcut has still no icon, but the clock launches now.
While setting the clock up i saw there is no option to select the alarm sound to be used. Did i oversee it or is it not there? I set one alarm and pushed the power button to put the phone in sleep, without exiting the appl. At the time set the device did wake up and a bip bip sounded (i would prefere to be able to choose some other alarm or an mp3). To be able to access the settings again i need to exit the appl. and start it again, but this gives me the error:
Alarm schedule failed!
Please exit the application
and try again.
Acknowledging this error message starts the appl, and i can access the settings again.
Now if i set up an alarm and then exit the appl., it starts up at the set time, but then the above mentioned error pops up, and by the time i tap ok the application opens but no alarm sounds.
This are my findings up to now.

The sound settings have not yet been put in place as detailed in the first post. Not sure why the schedule is a problem, will look into that because it uses the standard CeRunappattime API call but I might know what the problem is.
I believe the rest of the issues are caused by the program that does the packaging for the cab installer..I'll have to find a new one.
I tested the program today on an P3300 and the shortcut icon did not appear but everything installed okay, the icon and program install fine on my blackstone though so I will try to find a new packaging app.
I'll put some changes in place and upload a new version when I can but as said earlier, I'm completly new to all this so it may take a while to perfect the code.

Ok...thanks for your replay, will test the new release as soon as available.
I think I've fixed it! I've also tweaked a few bits and added the ability to choose your alarm sound for now.
I'll make the alarms have independent sounds in future builds.
Testing it atm but will post it soon if it works as expected.

Contact photo after removing Mediascape. How?

Hey guys, I have a rooted 2.1 Xperia x10, and I've removed media and timescape
But now I can't manage to import a contact's picture from the gallery, it only works when I take a new photo by choosing "camera".
How can I fix this? Tried to download other galleries to show when choosing "pictures", but it just does nothing.
Did you not research before removing apps?
Have you searched the forum for an apk?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I read that you just had to instal another gallery for it to work...

not sure where you read that but its not correct. you can only do this with mediascape. one of the only reasons i still have it installed.
So you can't do this on normal android versions without mediascape ?
Use Full Screen Caller ID application.
Attach images to your contacts and then uninstall it (if you don't need to use the full screen caller ID feature).
any other app to do that? I believe full screen caller ID is not free, and there's a free version but very limited.
Komodo is a complete phonebook replacement (incl. picture-setting)
"Dialer one" works as a good replacement for the dialer-function.
but you dont need to replace the dialer.
Thing is those apps need to be constantly running, right? And there it goes my speed....

Looks like I'm not the only one who uninstalled Timescape and Mediascape no matter what But there is still a way to assign pictures to contacts in quite comfortable way. I downloaded that Gallery app (from somewhere on this forum), which enables you to use the standard android gallery by adding its icon into app drawer. Once in the gallery, just select the pic you want to assign, tap "others" or something like that and select "Set as contact picture". It lets you trimm that picture and then it assigns it to the selected contact. So basically it works only in one direction: gallery -> contact list, but not the other (contact list -> gallery -> contact list again), because that default contact list was obviously paired with Mediascape only. Anyway, I find this as a good solution as you have to install almost nothing (except the gallery app, but you always need some kind of gallery and that default one looks damn good! ).
That's Great! Could you please send me the link to this app?

[Q] App Replacements

Hi Everybody!
So....I can't stand anymore the SE def. apps! Too Much Blue!
Now, i want to ask users of the forum what app do you use instead of the SE crapware Apps. In the detail:
- HomeScreen
- Contacts
- Calls
- Messages
- Browser
- File Manager
- Music
- Camera/Album
My Config:
- HomeScreen --> Simple Home (Search in Market, very useful, only 3-4 MB of RAM)
- Contacts --> Stock SE (I want To Replace with another app ASAP!!!)
- Calls --> Stock SE (I want To Replace with another app ASAP!!!)
- Messages --> Stock SE (I want To Replace with another app ASAP!!!)
- Browser --> Opera Mini 5.1.1
- File Manager --> AndroZip Pro (4 Zip & Rar Files is excellent!)
- Music --> TinyPlayer (Search in Market...uses 3-4 MB of Ram)
- Camera/Album --> Stock SE (I hate it! if you open only Camera or Album, it opens both....grrr!!!)
I'd Like to have stock Contacts, Messages and PhoneBook (even Ported from another QVGA phone...)
I even install MenuUnlock (Paid)...like in 1.6, in fact, it can unlock phone by pressing Menu Button!
Thanks in Advance!!!
for contacts i use this : www.contapps.com (search it on market "contapps")
Anyone know of an App to block adverts? I used to use Adfree Android on my Galaxy S but doesnt seem to be supported with this version
Cheers
For messages you can't beat Handcent SMS
If I use some app for contacts, like contapps, can I remove default contact apk? Its a sh*t SE app. And I wold like to substitute it with stock 2.1 app. Do somebody know where I can find it?
- HomeScreen - LauncherPro+ (menaged to replace SemcHome.apk without any errors)
- Contacts - Contapps (didnt try to replace default SE app)
- Calls - Stock SE app
- Messages - Handcent SMS (menaged to replace Conversations.apk without any errors)
- Keyboard - Scandinavian Keyboard (its just the name, it have English input)
- Browser - Skyfire browser ((menaged to replace Browser.apk? without any errors) it plays flash, because browser routes traffic through its own servers that pre-render flash and assorted other things before delivering it to the browser).
- File Manager - Root explorer (gives you R/W permissions to root folder) or Astro File Manager
- Music - Stock SE app
- Clock - SiMi Clock Widget (menaged to replace DigitalClock.apk without any errors)
- Stock Lock Screen - WidgetLocker Lockscreen
- Camera/Album - Gallery3D (FixedCamera button version) (search forum or google "GalleryFixedCamera.apk")
P.S. Dont try to replace or delete Camera app (SemcCamera.apk?), you will end up unable to take a photo.
(whenever i put ? it means i forgot correct name of that apk)
Icons Gingerbread Nexus S Edition.
If anyone try to replace stock apps with custom ones im not responsible if you get a error or end up in endless boot cycle, since you will, most likely, start getting a error.
After many tries i menage to make it work, but trust me, it not worth so much time, flashing and reediting everything else. i menage to do it, but im not holding any responsibility if anyone try it and fails.
Edit:

Your phone must be rooted and you need Root Explorer installed. Before anything you do backup your data using xRecovery or Titanium Backup. Start Root Explorer and go to /system/app folder, mount r/w rights (read/write) and find SemcContacts.apk. You can try to replace it with app that you wanna use, just move to SDcard or delete SemsContacts.apk and put app that you wanna use as replacement (i would personally rename that app to "SemcContacts", long press on it and edit it permissions to 644 (644 permissions), reboot and that is. I didnt tryed, i just explained you how to replace it.
More easily is to just install normally contact app that you wanna use and hide stock one (LauncherPro have option to hide icons in app drawer) down side to this is when you use custom contact app your stock app is run in background (at least its like that for me), thus eating your memory. Thats why im trying to find a way to replace as many stocked apps as i can.
Hello, after trying several apps I end up with the following "main" applications:
GO Launcher,
GO SMS and
Youlu Adress Book (combines contacts and caller + cool widget with missed call reminder, give it a try)

I had Adfree on my mini (search for adfree in market) thats how I found it..
but now I just use this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893741
I love this tool!! and it can update your host file (which is all Adfree does)
-Handsent SMS (I don't write a lot of SMS's but I like to use the phone in landscape mode when I do and the stock doesn't seem to do that??)
-K9 mail (E-mail app.. multiple accounts etc.. I can't live without it)
-Skyfire Browser (because it plays flash videos) when I used Miren it just opened skyfire to play a video.. why use 2 apps?
-Meridian Music player (it has some nice features, I even got the paid version it was so good)
-Vignette is a nice Camera app (has cool effects and borders like old style polaroids and shizzle.
-Swiftkey for the keyboard.. because it knows what I want to write before I do! well sometimes.. its damn quick anyway.
-Root explorer (for root stuff) Astro for normal file shizzle
-and Launcher Pro plus for a home launcher.
thats how I roll.. each to his own tho...

Android Exhibition Mode (touchstone)

This is an attempt to get some better understanding of how the exhibition mode works in CM7 based roms for the Touchpad. So far I know that when you put the TouchPad on the TouchStone, it opens up the clock. Some people have been asking how to disable that. After some googling, I came upon this error on the cmtouchpad issue log:
http://code.google.com/p/cmtouchpad/issues/detail?id=149
Posts 7 and 12 seem to give advice how to turn off the exhibition mode.
You apparently have to create or edit the file:
/data/local/userinit.sh
to add the line:
echo 1 > /sys/module/a6/parameters/disable_dock_switch
I personally don't want to do this, but I thought some others might find it handy. What I am interested in is figuring out how to change what app is brought up when you place the TP on the TS. Input/ ideas?
There is a free app that disables it.

Also Alarm Clock Plus lets you pick which app launches on docking. It also lets you disable it. I read tasker does too, but I don't use that app.

It's just an app. If you download another app that identifies as a dock app, when you dock again you'll get the option to set the default docking app.
I haven't tried many, desk clock plus is one that lets you play music, display photos etc.

It's the identifying as a dock app that I want to learn more about, i.e. can I force an app to be brought up that does not have the option integrated into it? There must be some xml file to edit that you can specify additional apps to be brought up when docking.
I do not want to install an app to do this. (an app to launch another app)

You just don't want to use alarm clock plus? You can specify any installed app to start when docked through that app. You get the desired result, I must be missing the negative.

I just think it is silly to have an app activate an app based on a notification rather than be able to customize either the notification or the app I want to use directly. This is xda-developers, I want to develop dammit, not be restricted to the norm of how it should act
small apps
I found the following info on rootzwiki.. try at your own risk :good:
I use the following to replicate the photo frame exhibition mode from webos
1. antek app manager (free) - freeze the clock to disable it - optional
2. photo slides(free) - to display photos as in a slideshow (you can us any app you want)
3. settings profile lite(free) - added a rule ( condition = dock and action = start app photo slides.photo frame when condition met and kill app on condition exit)
as soon as I put on touchstone starts displaying photos and when I pick up the touchpad goes to home screen

Are you the same guy who made the old grindrmod?
How this work?
It's good like "old" version?
So far works great, thanks! Is there anything new we should be aware of coming from the other version?
A couple of things :
- I do notice that not all profiles with chats have the orange border.
- would it be possible to add swipe across screens (I think previous version of app or mod had this)?
Thanks and great job!
Everytime it's opened, it can't get a location as 'I have no Internet connection' apparently, when obviously I have.

The mod introduced that far before the app did. One might argue that they took it and monetized it from @GrindrGuy. Does this mean that if the app starts mimicking other features introduced by the mod to monetize from them that the mod will just start taking them away? Nah, I'm against this move... You and GrindrGuy ultimately decide, but I wanted to share my two cents.

If you want to get "super technical" about it, this feature was introduced years ago in the original app but taken away around v3.0.
EDIT: Since I do not have Grindr Xtra, if someone would like to actually send me screenshots of what this feature looks like, I may be able to re-work it so that the module provides a similar feature that is not a direct replica of the paid feature.
I found a bug.

Don't have Xtra, but something to bring back that function making it different enough might be to have a little circle with counter in it: currently app gives you a yellow circle with the number of new messages. You could play with that idea: just a yellow dot if there are viewed messages, or include the number (?).
Along the same lines, I have a suggestion: In my area you often get a few users who don't upload a photo and you just see the generic black profile pic with no user name. Would there be any harm / Would it be possible to give those profiles a random name (user1123) so as to know which user is which?
I'm still used to swiping left/right to switch between profiles and inbox. It's annoying you actually have to tap on those now. Dunno if you can revert that behavior.
Say you're chatting with someone and you want to go back to "nearby" view. you have to go back and then tap on "nearby". It might be interesting to have that navigation bar with nearby/inbox/favs persistant throughout the app, with it autohiding and showing back up when you scroll down. This way there's an easy way to always go back to home, and we also always see if there's a new message notification.
Another suggestion I had way back when was to further customize this navbar: for example, I'd love to order it to have first favs, then nearby, then inbox, and being able to swipe between the views. At this point it might also be nice to have the option of having the navbar either on the (new) bottom or (old) top.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks for your efforts, and it's also fun to think about UI design like this!

That's actually how the GrindrMod feature used to work, by "hijacking" the unread messages count to always display the yellow border regardless of whether the messages were unread or not.

That's a really good idea.

I'd rather not alter the UI to that extent since there may be some underlying reason for them changing it in the first place (one person suggested that the toolbar was moved to the bottom in order to encourage accidental clicks on the banner ads).

Looks like the app attachment was removed from this thread? I'm running 3.24.x or something just so Grindrmod will work. I'm being told when I open Grindr that I can only use that version for two more days until it is mandatory that I update to the latest version. At which point grindrmod will not work.
So, I'm looking forward to an update =_=

Thanks! I didn't know it was a whole new app there. The links to it seem dead in the xda app with the xposed modules.
@GrindrGuyNYC, is it possible to amend the photo viewer activity (when tapping on a profile picture) to always show the Android soft-keys? Every time I tap on a profile photo to open it, I have to swipe up to show the soft-keys to go back. Starts getting annoying really fast. Thanks.
PS. GrindrMod isn't listed on Xposed module library when I check in Xposed Installer (I use the one by DVDAndroid). I had to go to the repo online to download and install manually.

I see it just fine in the official Xposed Installer.
@GrindrGuyNYC I'm on oreo 8.1 with systemless xposed.
The module won't show in notification bar even if I choose show always.
Another bug (on nougat too, with "standard" xposed) is if I swipe or open a new profile module ask me to undo last refresh.
