Upon receiving an SMS message, my phone will freeze anywhere from 1-3 minutes and become completely and utterly unresponsive. It is complete froze for this time, and no button will respond at all. No matter what I'm doing, even if the phone has just been started, even if I'm on the phone---or even if my phone is ringing and receive a text, I cannot accept the call until the text comes through.
Sometimes, it will not recover from the freezing (it does this at least one a day), and I will have to remove the battery in order to fix the problem.
Funniest thing of all is that it does not do it when I am receiving an MMS. There is no lag or freeze at all.
Possibilities/Things I've ever already eliminated:
- Deleting all messages out of Inbox
- Clearing out RAM with the task manager
I am using the HTC HD2 from T-mobile (North America/US).
ROM Version: 2.13.531.1
Radio Version: 2.10.50.26
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.2
(if that helps)

1-3 second freezing used to happen with the European ROMs until they provided updates. I think updates to the HTC Messaging Client addressed the issues.

I have my htc hd2 (t8585) unlocked version from cyprus. The phone is having many freezing issues. What can i do??

Can you be more specific on the freezing .. do you phone freezes at the lock screen? or while working with an application?
Its good to know what handling you were doing in what application when it causes to freeze.
ATM there is a problem with twitter.com accounts. It also causes freezes on the phone
No, my phone won't freeze if i am using it! It will freeze only if i leave it at stand by mode for longer that approx. 30 minutes - 1 hour.
Additionally sometimes it starts from the first soft reset, but some other times it takes much longer to switch on!
Hi. I got this problem for quite sometime and am so used to taking out and putting back and taking out and putting back the batt.
But now I have another prob: my ringtone suddenly went soft and I now have to keep myself alert all the time to see if there's any incoming call or SMS.
I would like to do a hard reset but the question is: will it set my phone back to the stock ROM or still retain the updated version - 1.66.707.1?
Thanks in advance.
Hello XDA,
Third day with my GS3, and I've already noticed and had to face on what could be a hardware issue if no one else on here has experienced it.
So I went to bed at 2PM this afternoon, phone is running absolutely fine its at 62% battery. I woke up at 5:30PM and the battery was 59%. So I started browsing my phone, I already had some messages so I replied to them, then I went on Emgadget. I revieved a text and the phone froize up, it just does this really really long vibrate for about 6 seconds, no notification sound and then boom.. it all comes back, the notification appears in the bar but the phone still does not make a sound. Its not just messaging that causes this blip, if the phone is in this state receiving any notification including a call will freeze the phone up.
I've noticed that during the time the phone is doing this, it won't make sounds while you type on the keyboard. Everything, like system sounds, will just stand completely silent even after the phone has resumed functionality.
After around 5-10 minutes the phone will just seemingly return to normal behaviour, I could be in mid-text and suddenly the keyboard start making noise again. Please somebody really help me with this, I do hope its software.
Just to note, this is not the first time I've had this issue today. I've experienced it multiple times in the past three.

I had a firmware update the other day, nothing worked. Thinking of downloading the software from SamMobile and reflashing.
Hey,
I about a month and a half ago upgraded my S2 from Gingerbread to ICS (4.0.4).
Not long had gone and i noticed that my phone freezes too often, maybe twice every two days. In Gingerbread it froze maybe twice every two months, so ofcourse this pisses me off very much.
It freezes on both apps and built-in apps such as Internet. Usually it just freezes on the image i had on at that time or sometimes even a black screen appears. Then after 3-6 minutes an error message appears saying: "*App name here* has stopped working. Close it?" In GB when it would freeze the error message appeared almost instantly.
My question is: What could be causing my phone to freeze so often?
Also i have noticed that my battery life has decreased very much, maybe too much, after the ICS upgrade, so suggestions on what could cause that would also be highly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure what causes this problem, but on my Nexus S wiping data/factory reset helped (settings -> backup & reset)

1. Please state your ROM and kernel.
2. No matter which version you had of Android, FC shouldn't happen (even once in a while) I can't even remember when it happened to me, it means you have a problem.
I'd suggest to do all the 3 wipes and to flash to the most stable ROM which is Wanam.

normally this happens when there are rogue apps / some applications running in the background that use up the resources.
facebook is one of the culprits.
I am on totally stock JB. Haptic feedback is all but gone on my device. When restarting the phone it will not save last volume/vibrate settings. Always defaults to ring only. Tried numerous volume locker apps with no luck. On reboot my folders are all black and blank for about 30 seconds. On Google now I can’t remove sport team cards. After selecting undesired card and selecting to remove it, it will disappear only to pop back up on restart. My last and most problematic issue is my texting issues(have had issue before JB update). My texts come out of order or are hugely slow/delayed. Sometimes I won't get texts until I text the person and then a bunch of old texts will come through (with hours late time stamps). I also tend to get the same text numerous times. Is this a phone issue, sprint network issue, sense or android issue? I'm guessing it's a sprint network issue. Any tips or tricks on how to fix any of these issues would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

haptic feedback low is by design. no idea about the vol/vib settings. folders could just be loading slower than on ICS. no idea about GNow. text issue are sprint. possible fix for text: from dialer...*#*#2432546#*#* hope this helps
Hard reset could fix it. But might be your last resort.

Seems like over the past week or two, I am routinely getting errors when sending texts. Sometimes it is an MMS, other times a text to a single recipient.
Sometimes it happens, other times not. Happens on Wifi, and when in data.
If I reboot, it usually fixes it, but only for a short while.
it happens with both the Samsung Messages app, as well as the Google app.
Any ideas that don't involve hard reset of the phone? No other issues, just texts...

Having the same issue here. It seems to have appeared with this last update and is now occuring about every other text (outgoing only). I have so far been able to "tap to retry" and it sends after that but the fact that its even happening at all makes me hate this phone even more.

I went back to the Samsung messaging app and it seemed more reliable, but I just installed the latest updates a week or so ago, and now the Google Messages app seems to be working properly again...
mine is doing the same thing. makes me want to throw it at a wall. circle just spins and i get a failed . resend works . i have have cleared the cache partition tried chomp and other texting programs including the samsung and they all fail. but not all the time very annoying when you think a message went out that important and half hour you look at your phone to see why they didnt respond and it failed. anyone have any ideas? thanks
