Zoom Bar with Opera

I like using the zoom bar for internet browsing, but internet explorer seriously sucks, so is there a way to use the zoom bar with opera?
but...
which opera mobile build are you using?
I'm also wanted to use zoom function from free pad bar. I'm with Opera mobile 10 which zoom level is pre-determined in option so I just wonder that it will work as we think or not.
mabey some code needs to be changed for the htc build of opera , devices like htc touch diamond 2 have zoombar which works in opera
I have a touch.diamond 2 and it doesnt work in Opera 10, only the HTC version of 9. I too would like the ability to use the ZB in 10, it looks cool and is nice for photos..

What is the best browser to use

I'm looking for the best browser to use for the Hero. I don't like the default browser and I installed Opera and I don't like how I have to use the wheel. I would much rather have a browser that allows me to use the touch screen completely.
xScope is pretty sweet Give that a shot
Thanks! It looks great. I notice the zooming is a bit slow though from what I'm used to on an iPhone.
I tried the default browser, Opera 5 beta and Dolphin. All 3 are free.Opera is faster than the default and some some extra nice features.Dolphin is faster than Opera and has lot of cool features and settings. One of the best is multitabs! So from me go Dolphin

[Q] lag with browser?

hi all, i'm a noobie android user (coming from 3GS) .. I noticed a little lag with the browser.. but it was only with a certain website...
if you load cracked.com in the browser, and then go back to homescreen or any other app.. and then go back to your browser, theres like a 2-3 second lag.... anyone have any issues with that too? It's not a big deal.. but it could get annoying later on down the road.
change the flash to on-demand
you might *think* theres less / no lag on the iphone because theres no flash available at all
i use MIREN browser from the market and it has been pretty awesome
thanks, that browser is pretty slick.
I don't know where that option you mentioned for "Flash on demand" is..... is it under settings in browser or on homescreen?
if you using Miren browser it should be under advanced setting

[Q] User Agent setting ignored?

Can anyone explain to me what forces a Web page to display in mobile view, especially if you have your User Agent set to Desktop view? Example, when I try to see www.news.com.au it always automatically changes to m.news.com.au which is built for portrait mobile phones, not landscape tablets which have enough screen size to display the desktop view.
Which browser? If its stock, how are you changing the UAString? Just tried that site and was able to bring it up without being redirected. I'm changing it through the hidden debug menu.

Can change the UA in Dolphin browser.
Can't change it on the stock that I can see, and it auto changes to mobile.news.com.au
(I'm still on the stock ROM until camera works)
Many websites will read the user agent string and change the website view based on that
In the stock browser go to about:useragent
the settings don't usually stay in place though if I remember correctly.
Dolphin HD - More -> Settings and change the user agent
Firefox - about:config and change the string or download an addon that will allow you to change it in the preferences pane
ROMs - I'm using Task 14 which has everything working including the camera. Only ICS ROMs don't have working cameras. Overcome has a stock ROM that is much better than stock and very stable. Task 14 is even better. If you invest the time in reading about doing backups and installing a ROM you won't regret it. If I had my tablet next to yours you'd be blown away by how slow your stock version is by comparison. Battery life is actually better too and I have the Tab overclocked.
In the stock browser, type in about:debug and hit go once. It will look like nothing has happened but go into settings and you'll see an extra debug menu. You can change the UAString in there. The debug menus will disappear when you exit out but whatever you set the string to WILL keep. This about:debug also works on my S2 as well.

Some websites display mobile versions if they find the word "android" in the browser id string, so it's not enough to change it to desktop. change the UA string to desktop windows or desktop mac os.

Flynx or Javelin stack

I've used both flynx and Javelin for multi-tasking while searching the web, I have found points that I do and don't particularly like about both apps, and I would like to hear what you think.
heres my list of what I like and dislike about both apps:
Javelin
ok, so first up is javelin. i would like to state that since javelin is also a full featured browser I will only be talking about it's "stack" feature
PROS
fast
convenient
gesture based switching through "pages" (tabs)
has a read mode which will display only the important text and pictures from the article
can open unlimited pages to load
conveniently opens web pages via a floating circle that can be placed anywhere on the screen
floating circle has loading (color changing) animation with page count
once pro version is purchased you are given 3 free pro "invites" for three friends
has built-in ad blocker (activated in the full app not in stack)
CONS
stack isn't it's own app
alot of great features require you purchase the pro version (like unlimited page loading)
in free version pro features are limited via how many times you can use them
...has pro version
doesn't "minimize" after you hit the home button
load times can vary greatly
may still have battery draining issues
FLYNX
PROS
simple UI
fast
can set a secondary browser to open the link in from fynx
allows you to "bookmark" articles to read for later
if the home button is pressed while viewing a webpage in fynx it will minimize fynx fso you can access your homescreen
lightweight & convenient
has a fullscreen mode
100% free
CONS
only allows up to 4 tabs open (said to change in update)
both of these are excellent at what they do, both have great UIs, and both are well worth a try. but now i would like to know what everyone thinks about these apps.

I have been using Javelin for a long time, but for some reasons the bubble stack keeps closing itself randomly. Therefore I switched to Flynx, which is a really great app. The main difference between those two apps is the fact that Javelin is a fully equipped browser, whereas Flynx is only designed to open external links, e.g. in social networks. You can't browse the web by opening it and typing in a link. But this wasn't the need I had when installing it as I have better browsers for doing so on my device. But for multi-tasking Flynx is excellent. Only thing that bugs me right now is the fact that you can not close the app by double pressing the back button, you always have to open the menu or move the bubble to the bin.
that is excellent idea to close via double tap back, i just cant stand that i can only load 4 tabs at once, otherwise i'd be using flynx much more often, at the moment i have both installed because i love how flynx works and its load times but i use javelin if i need to open more than four tabs so i'd have say 4 open in flynx then a fifth opened in javelin, for me i think that these apps can learn from each other, i think if flynx added gestures to control and navigate the tabs and allow more than 4 tabs then that would definitely be my recommendation for anyone looking for such an app
sadly it may seem like javelin will be discontinued but also be migrating to open source, "I'm planning to take Javelin Browser open-source, but I don't have the time to do it. Anyone wanna help?" - steven goh
