I rooted my vibrant (sooooo easy) a few days ago and had a audio jack problem before any rooting. I exchanged the phone today and tried rooting the new one and holding the volume and powers keys is not taking me to recovery. I've already downloaded some root only apps before rooting to be ahead of schedule. Could those apps be stopping me from getting to recovery mode? I'm definitel a noob. Help is greatly appreciated.
Adb reboot recovery
Have you try the "One Click Root / UnRoot" method?

Booted through adb. Thanks a lot guys!
I had the same issue but took mine back for an exchange. I could get into recovery and download mode via ADB but for the life of my could not do it without. Kind of worried me in case I could not get the phone to but up, ADB would be worthless. New handset works fine.
I would exchange it. If you have a problem during a flash with Odin, adb won't be able to communicate with your Vibrant and you'll be hosed. I would check the HW boot to recovery first thing in the store. Too many Galaxies are having problems with this.
how do i boot into recovery in with this method?? ive tried so hard and my vibrant will never enter recovery nor download mode! if you can give me a link to a tutorial or anything that can make me do it ill thank you so much.. ive been rooting everyones vibrants and installing different roms but cant do it on mine! please help!

So I want to to root my Vibrant but I can't...Every way I tried it needed to reboot my vibrant to recovery didn't work...
I tried GS Tweaker, ONeSuperClick, rom manager, terminal emulator.....
I got my update.zip file into my SD card but Im stuck with the rebooting thing
I tried all the ways of rebooting: the manual rebooting, Android SDK application... everything thing, I spent the whole day finding ways, watching videos and reading from vibrant wiki..
So what I reached to yesterday is:
while I was talking to one of the pro of android in one of the chat room somewhere, he said maybe because my phone needs "hardware updating" that the buttons can't reboot something like that (since I'm not in the states and I cant get OTA updates from T-mobile)... so I need to download ODIN and find Samsung drivers...
can anyone help me in this please?
try http://www.akaskriller.com/free/flashing.php
there are some files that you may need to ODIN. good luck, hope it works out.

ok....thats weird
first try pulling out your battery.....then put it back in...then hold both volume buttons while you turn it back on w/ the power button....when the black samsung screen pops up let them go...the phone should go into the stock 2e recovery...
if you still want the drivers then here you go ....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929

I followed this guide here to try to install one of the simply roms and now my phone is stuck at Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen. I have tried without success to get into recovery or download and I can't. Please help!!!!
Okay sorry for making this thread before I tried my last thing to get it to work. I had an idea and it worked. I don't know if this will help anybody else but I will still share what I did to get it working again. You will need the phone to be connected to the computer and also have the Vibrant all in one toolbox installed. The phone was stuck at the boot screen as previously stated so all I did was open up AIO Toolbox and clicked flash to stock and then it rebooted me into download mode and everything went smooth from that point on. Sorry for the worthless thread but maybe my solution will work for you also. Hope it does! If it does don't thank me on the thread thank me with my thanks button.
Okay so now I actually have another question. I got the phone back to stock 2.1 and now it still says galaxy s GT-I9000 at boot up but right after that it says Vibrant. I need to know how to get my phone completely back to stock so I can start all over
U have to change the lfs files I had the sane thing happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjRejS3gXaU

Odin didnt clear the lfs files when I tryed get rid of this
I followed a guide here to try to root and unlock my samsung galaxy s 4g. Everyghing went well until last reboot. My phone is stuck at Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen. I have tried without success to get into recovery or download and I can't. Cannot get any recovery command on the phone. Cannot access the phone from the computer. The phone does not even turn off without taking off the battery. Please help!!!! I do not know anything about computers or cell phones and honestly do not know whatelse do!
That's probably because you flashed a rom or bootloaders that were made for the regular vibrant and you have a 4g. You can't as of right now flash anything from the vibrant forum to the 4g, it's clockwork is still in beta.
Hey,
So i was trying to root my wifes old phone so that i can break the network key to get it on at&t. I followed the tutorials on here to use odin to flash back to stock image, doing this though the phone now runs through a boot loop.
I can get it to the download screen no problem I tried a few of the steps in the forum to get it to boot past this but nothing works.
I did not take a complete back-up of the phone as i could not get titanium backup to work without root.
I did see that when i did this the phone does not have an internal SD card, I noticed this a little late.
Can anyone help me get this back to functioning state even if i have to mod or re-flash it i just want it working again.
any help is appreciated
These forums are for the Vibrant 3G, not the same phone as you're trying to root.

Hello, im new to the android scene as i am coming from apple. I have a Samsung Captivate and i have recently rooted my phone. I learned about CydrogenMod and looked into it and i wanted to install it on my phone. As i was flashing ClockworkRecovery my phone went into this mode and i cant get out of it. I tried plugging and unpluging and i also tried to go into recovery and download mode but nothing works. It just keeps going into this screen. Help would be very much appreciated. The image is attached to the post.
First please post in your device forum. You will be able to get better answers. Next do a search for USB jig. This will fix your problem. While your at it. Please for the love of all that is tech. Take a few hours and read up on what your doing before you do it. Flashing roms is nothing like the childsplay that is jail breaking an iPhone.

I have a Windows 8 PC and I rooted my i9300 using Mark Skippen's excellent toolkit (not a paid endorsement, BTW - I just have used his kits on other devices and love them) and was successful in flashing an insecure boot image, root, and busybox. I then installed and SuperuserSU and TWRP and made a nandroid of my system safely tucked on my microSD card.
My problems started when I tried to install CM10 for the i9300 and Gapps (I checked before I downloaded the ZIP from CM's site and I thought I had gotten the correct ZIP). For reasons I can't figure out, I got stuck in a bootloop at the CM logo. And when I say stuck, it wouldn't stop even after I pulled the battery and put it back - I would put the battery in and it would resume with the bootloop at the CM logo. I then tried to get into recovery using the keys on the phone and it still wouldn't stop. I couldn't find a solution with a cursory search and I couldn't get my PC, I couldn't get it to recognize my my phone when I plugged it it.
In what I know was a fit of frustration and stupidity, I tried to get Kies to "Emergency reformat my phone" and it kind of worked. The CM boot loop went away, but not it will only display the "Samsung Galaxy SIII i9300" logo and then shuts off. So, now I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a way to get my phone working again or if I've finally succeeded in making myself an expensive brick and I need to just start over again with a new one?
I don't mind constructive criticism and offers of last rites, but I'd appreciate if folks keep the plain old flame or troll posts to themselves. And, as always, any help or directions to locations/ threads to see if my SGS3 can be resurrected are especially appreciated.
Thanks all!
Can you get into download mode?
VolDown + Home + power
Have you tried using a usb jig?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
No jig, but I can get into download mode! :good:

Try CWM recovery. Problems appear every now and then with TWRecovery.
Just put it in download mode and flash a new ROM. I'd suggest JB if you wanna use it.
Okay - with some hair pulling and the SGS3 toolkit, I'm back on stock, rooted so all is right with my new toy. Thanks all for your help! I wouldn't have done it without you all!
