hiho,
i made an easy to use romcooking tool (i use it for moding my favorit roms )
its still alpha but if someone like to test it. ON YOUR OWN RISK !!!
because its written in C# and you can easyliy work with diffrent roms @ same time
just select an *nbf and this tool dumps it into a folder beside this file
i.e. no need for winhex(initflashfiles.dat) and default.rgu are save in the correct format automaticly
for simply add/remove files and/or regtweaks everthing is included
the scripts based on Molski's kitchen updated with bigstorage imagetools
the main app is the neokit.exe
have fun
inteks
you like it ? let me know ;-) --->>> DONATE
update version a087:
http://rapidshare.com/files/139239824/NeoKitSetup_A087RC4_.msi.html
PKGTool.exe isnt needed anymore "refreshPackageInfos" works much faster now
Setup is fixed , you dont need to uninstall old vers of NeoKit before installing the new one (after this version!!)
update version a084:
http://rapidshare.com/files/138975571/NeoKitSetup_A084RC3_.msi.html
some bugfixes. + skip extrom if empty + a small LNK file editor on doubleclick *.lnk
update version a083:
fixed a bug in neoflash (uc config)
goes back to framework 2.0 !!!
update version a081:
look @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2474684#post2474684
update version a080:
the buid process is more automated now
the new build nbf file is copied together with RUU into "ROMDUMP\UpdateFiles"
G'Reloc is back
it has a setup now
a 'small' UC Config tool is included (path is fixed to \Storage Card\Cabs)
on the UC Config tab the files in "\Storage Card\Cabs" are listed (if you prophet is connected)
you can check which ones to install. sdconfig.txt is written directly to your storagecard.
you can also clear the autorun flag in registry and run checkautorun.exe directly to test your setup.
have fun
inteks
ps:
ist finally fixed that neokit can run from "long" pathnames. it can now run from i.e. "c:\program files\.... .....\neokit"
the setup will add the filetyp ".nbf" to registry. you can edit rom bei dubbleclick now ;-)
update version a070:
ok. beside some other fixes and optimations the most interesting new feature is the "comparer" button on the 'Files' tab!
you can select an other rom and neotab hides all files included in both roms!!!
in other words.
select a "reference" rom i.e. micro V3 as smallest but working rom and neokit hides all files that are "needed" !!!
you can edit/remove the files that are not really needed ;-)
update version a061:
Fileinfos(comments) are included in fulltextsearch now ;-)
update version a060:
1. i removed package import because it dont work as it should !! i dont dont why. . .
2. i fixed many bugs and put proper errorhandling in most functions.
update version a050:
biggest new feature is automated dumping and building of extension.rom
on the filestab you can select "remove" OR "moveto extRom"
if you move *.dll to extrom, then neokit ask you to include extRom in SystemPath! ;-)
update version a035:
added a treeview for packages
update version a034:
fixed a bug when option.xml is not unicode.
and i've added a ceipui.exe for WM6.1
if you remove this file you get an error messsage on boot. so i compiled a replacement that does absolutly nothing
update version a033:
added a fulltextsearch on the "files" tab ;-)
update version a032:
fixed some bugs when importing OEM Packs. pls copy the exefile into neokit folder.
update version a030:
add's OEM packeage import support
update version a021:
this is an hotfix only! pls replace the neokit.exe from version a020!!!
this version brings a big new feature ->
neokit creates a folder in its apppath called Fileinfo
on the filetab in the contextmenu you can "add comments" for everyfile
this comments saved as Filename+txt AND they are shown as tooltip AND they are on every dump you work on AND they are shareable !!!
I.E. -> if you know a file cant be removed because your neo dont boot without that file, add comment and share your comments here ;-)
update version a020:
new pic preview with thumbs
on the fly UPX compresion
removing with contextmenu now to prevent removing by mistake / removed items are red
screen -> http://m8z.de/screen.a020.PNG
update version a010:
ok. here is a new version with some really nize features ;-)
->winimage is included and there is a new button to edit extrom
->reshacker is included, on the fileTab in contextmenu you can open every file directly with reshacker !!!
if you edit resources with reshacker click "save" in reshacker then close reshacker.
neokit will "wait" till you exit reshacker and then it moves the *_original.* file to "ReshackerBackups" .
i also added "reversmode.exe" to edit the resources of "moduls" BUT NOT ALL DLL/EXE WORK AFTER CONVERSION MODUL->DLL->MODUL
if such a Modul not work try using the DLL file instead.
btw. its a multipart rar renamed to .zip
update version a006:
found and fixed this bug:
"Could not open input file '80040000-OS.nb'. Aborting."
it occurs on "long" filenames in path to nk.nbf. sorry for the circumstances
update version a005:
if you use an extendedRom you can put your tools into the extrom folder. on the initflashfiles tab click createstartmenuentry to create a linkfile to your tool
neokit reads the name of your "should be unlocked" extrom out of default.rgu ;-)
sample:
i put my neotab.exe in my extrom called "xFlash"
then neokit create a linkfile like 20#"\xFlash\neotab.exe" and an entry like Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"):-File("neotab","\Windows\neotab")
(you still have to build and translate the extension.nb for yourself !!!)
some bugfixes
update version a004:
runtimeerror on filestab fixed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=66063&d=1200406481
update version a003:
-"search" now search over default.rgu+user.rgu
-you can filter out packages in the filestab
-a new button to recreate packageinfos (if you copy the content of an OEM package to the dump dir)
-a contextmenu on filestab to edit i.e. bitmaps (it open the standart edit progy for that file)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=65915&d=1200321831
EDIT:
howto ->
1. select the *.nbf you like to work with
2. dump rom
3. if needed go to the default.rgu / user.rgu tab
3a. click create/load default.rgu
3b. make changes (if needed)
3c. click save
3d. if there are no errors !!!! click "copy to dump"
4. click load to load the initflashfiles.dat
4a. you can edit this file
4b. you can create lnk files from exe file in the dump dir
4c. you can create programs entrys automaticly like
i.e."Directory("\Windows\Start Menu"):-File("MediaPlayer.lnk","\Windows\PLAYER.lnk")"
4d click save (neokit removes the first 2 bytes no need for winhex)
5. removing files ->> neokit moves all selected file to the "removed" dir and move them back to dump if you deselect them ;-)
6. now click "build rom"
7. if there are no error click nb2nbf tool (create the nbf file in the neokit dir !!!)
7a. modelID -> Prophet
7b. outputfile should be -> ..\neokit\nk.nbf
7c. check File # 1: and browse to the newos.nb in the ROMDUMP dir
7d. Image Name -> select OS (Start address is filled automaticly)
7e. then click translate
8. click G3 or G4 !!! and then "start RUU" to flash the cooked rom . thats it.
your phone should allready hardSPL patched. !!!! ->>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033

you can manually add file to the dump directory BUT
since bigstorage is possible it doesnt make sense to ADD files then to REMOVE files !!!
everything in ROM cant be deinstalled later !!!!!!
i for myself do the following -> i remove files, flash, if it doesnt work i put them back and try again ;-)
Okay this looks brilliant.
I've got as far as dumping a rom, building it.
When I come to the nb2nbf dialog box I get stuck. I have no idea what values to enter in the boxes! Please help, thanks.
I saved this from another thread, if this is what you need:
ModelID - PM300
Lang - WWE
OEM v. - any
operator v. - any
CID- clear
StartAddres - 80040000
ImageName - OS

i removed the wmplayer app in my rom, but i dont know for shure witch dll's needed for mp3 ringtones.
if you completly remove the package you loose mp3+wma ringtones.
i use korands 2.5 superclean as base rom and i removed sql mobile and wmplayer app and the kamera app (coolcamera works great and is only 52kb )
i am near 70mb on a G4 neo ;-)
i just want to make some minor adjustments in the korand 2.5 rom. it is already bigstorage.
is there anything i need to pay attention to?
and how can i modify/delete/add any registry key before i create the new rom?
cheers.
p. s.: found it.
Hi...
i tried to dump PDAViet Mysterious 1.0
replaced some png images (phone and comm manager)

The Team Lambent Corrosion member presents:
UpdatezipCreator
Some of you remember my old app UpdateThemeCreator. I've found some time to build a new app that can create updates (as zip archive flashable via recovery).
Changes/Improvements since the last version of ThemeUpdateCreator:
-new interface
-adding files to other folders than system/framework and system/app
-new algorythms
-editing update-script (saving, loading, making default etc)
-saving settings
I hope that app will work without any bugs
Changelog:
1.0.0.1
-adding update-binary to edify scripts (possibility of choosing own update-binary)
-added default scripts for edify scripts
-settings not stored in my documents
1.0.0.2
-Adding folders
-Drag&Drop
-Signing single zip archive
1.0.0.3
-Fixed bug with the wrong name of edify scripts
1.0.0.4
-Not signed archive is kept in temporary directory
-Functions library (inserting functions)
1.0.0.5
-Problem with update_ont_signed path solved (I hope so)
1.0.0.6
-Log mode
1.0.0.7
-Signing bug fixed
1.0.0.8
-Handling linux newline character in scripts
DOWNLOAD:
Rar archive - about 500 kb
Source code - about 1,3 MB - Visual Studio C#
Windows installer (source included) - about 830 kb
I'll use it tomorow for my theme
Sent from my GT-I5800 using CM 6.2 Cyanbread themed
Looks cool
Maybe you can add an option to switch between amend (all cwm versions before 3.x - what we currently use ) and edify (3.x + - like in cm7 and apollo's dual/tri boot kernel)
Then it'ld be universal
Thank you.

Yeah, it's already done
Waiting for a permission for use update-binary.
I haven't made phone databes for mounting points, I think that everyone who will be using edify scripts will change it manually in script-editor.

I replied to your email... (same link as the email contained)
Also if you'd like to utilize the database xml from my amend2edify project, feel free to (someone is already using it in a market app).
Your tool looks nice and simple, I've considered doing something similar in the past, never got around to doing it, and now looks like I don't have to. Good work.
Also, maybe this could be moved to a more general section, as it's not restricted to Galaxy 3 devices. (Suggestion, you could add in zip signing to better support more devices.)

Thanks a lot!
Zip signing is available and it's executed automatically (unless JRE is not available)
I'll post the thread in General Android Development and try to impelement your PhoneDatabase
So, app updated. Changes:
-adding update-binary to edify scripts (possibility of choosing own update-binary)
-added default scripts for edify scripts
-settings not stored in my documents
Thanks so much
Ability to sign already made update.zips(with some other tool or manually) would be nice!
EDIT:
Just tried it with folders and it wont work
aka
i can manually add all files and add path(bt tat'ld be a pain)
So how about selecting whole folders?
Drag and drop would be a nice option!

It'd be nice, but I think that there are some changes in code neccessary.. the main: replacing executting "cmd.exe" to "adb", in ProccesStartInfo variables, so also parameteres are need to be changed (it's necessay to remove "adb" from parameters). I will probably install Linux in a few weeks on the virtual machine, so I'll have the environment to testing the code.
In the meantime, new version - fixed the wrong name of update-script for edify (changed to "updater-script" for edify, and left "update-script" for amend)

What are you using adb for this app? It's just flash-able zip creation correct?
I can't think of a reason you would need to use adb for this (or how adb would be useful for this other than pushing to the phone's SD card).
Just curious, I haven't bothered to look at the sources.

thanx a lot..... it helped me very much and saved me from full rom flash.....

awesome!thnx a lot!!! its really easy
edit:not tha easy as i thought can someone tell me the script i need to use to copy and maybe replace system apps?
edit1:figured it out
This is an (hopefully) updated collection of all roms (not android based, but other linux OS, like ubuntu, archlinux, fedora...) for nexus 7 (grouper and tilapia) available using the MultiROM system.
MultiROM is an amazing hack (I want to thank again its author, Tasssadar) that permits to boot different OS (multiboot) and different android roms. It starts between kernel and rom init, showing a sort of bootloader dialog to choose which system to boot.
It supports installing (and booting, of course) roms to USB drives.
To use MultiROM you need multirom installation zip , a modified TWRP recovery and kernels with kexec support. Relax, is not hard or long to do this.
More information and installation (of MultiROM, recovery and kernels) --> [ MULTIROM ]
PS: I need to specify I coded nothing, my only work was helping with issues, repacking roms, make them work. I want to say thank you to all devs are developing for Nexus 7, I'm doing this because I appreciate their work and I want MultiROM to rise. It deserves to.
HOW TO INSTALL A ROM.
Tasssadar provided also a zip template (see the [ WIKI ] for more info) that is incredibly easy to use.
To install a linux os to sdcard, you just need to download the zip and flash it like a normal update.zip.
It won't replace your internal rom, because it is going to install in /sdcard, not in /system or /data. And it WON'T wipe anything.
Remember that flashing ubuntu or android rom is DIFFERENT from flashing those zips. To flash ubuntu or another android rom you need to use MultiROM menu under ADVANCED voice in recovery (again, see wiki or multirom thread if you need more information).
ROM PACKS.
In the next post I'll share links for rom zips. If you have other zips or if you have built other zips, please share them. They will be (hopefully) added to the list. If not, please pm me. I can't read all posts.
If you want to share a zip, please try it first. I don't know if I'll be able to test everything real-time, and I don't want anyone to see his sdcard erased or strange things like this. MultiROM has a percent of risk, but nobody has lost his data till now. So please share zips consciously.
ROM LIST (DOWNLOADS)
* [NEW] PLASMA ACTIVE 4.0 (20140121)
mirror: http://d-h.st/Khh
old version: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9ZvdqAbuJi2blQ0TDgweFFKTlU/edit
description: KDE for embedded devices. Very cool and interesting. 4.0 version is more stable, video codec is working as well. Little slow booting.
* BODHI LINUX 20130109
old version: INITIAL RELEASE
notes: old version passwd for root and armhf user is trustno1 (sorry for that, is my fault. In new release it is again bodhilinux)
description: Ubuntu with E17 (Enlightenment) with mobile GUI. Pretty stable and... veeery fast.
*ArchLinux 20130113-2
old version: -
description: ArchLinux. Simply. Not designed for basic users. Really powerfull, with already packed KDE, Gnome-shell, LXDE, XFCE, Enlightenment environments (and many others probably). Needs testing, and some love, as it's initial release.
*WebOS ALPHA
old version: http://www.mediafire.com/?3m58uuvysxiwypw
description: still in alpha stage, unstable. Interesting project. Needs love.
* [MANUAL INSTALL] Ubuntu Touch Tablet DEVELOPER PREVIEW
old version: -
description: developer preview, android-based, with the new Ubuntu Touch UI.
[NEW] Use MultiROM app to install the latest version in the easiest way
ROMS TO BE PACKED/MADE WORKING:
fedora4nexus7?
PAY ATTENTION: NEW MULTIROM CHANGED THE ROM ZIP STRUCTURE!
NEW STRUCTURE HERE.
I GUESS YOU CAN USE OLD ZIPS, BUT I CAN'T TRY AND IT'S BETTER TO USE NEW METHOD (REPACK NEEDED)
STEPS TO CREATE A NEW ROM ZIP (EASY-WAY):
* first, download the template (reworked by me)
* then, unzip the template, put the root.tar.gz and rom_info.txt inside rom folder (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read again the wiki - link above)
* edit rom name inside of scripts/extract.sh script (it's the only thing you have to edit, unless you want it to do something else, but be careful in that case)
* select the 3 folders (META-INF, rom, scripts) and zip them in a zip called <DISTRONAME>-MultiROM-Installer-<VERSION>.zip (I think it's a good standard, if you don't like simply name it another way, but I reckon that using a standard would be a very good thing)
*when the zip is finished, upload your zip somewhere (I use google drive now, but I hope I'll have my storage sometime in the future) and share the link here. I will add it to the list.
If I don't, pm me.
[EDIT] new packing method for webos available https://github.com/Tasssadar/webos_multirom_packer [/EDIT]

Same thing for Bodhi. But I dont know the detales about it since I don't use it.
PS as it is now this thread feels as a start to a redundant thread to what is written in Tassadars first 3 posts in the MultiRom thread. Better if you focus on the current distros that don't have any "real" maintener here on xda.
I will add those categories later

Same thing for Bodhi. But I dont know the detales about it since I don't use it.
PS as it is now this thread feels as a start to a redundant thread to what is written in Tassadars first 3 posts in the MultiRom thread. Better if you focus on the current distros that don't have any "real" maintener here on xda.

Hi xela,
I understand the process except for creating the 'root.tar.gz' file from a compressed image (.img or .raw) file. Do you need to extract the image file to the /root folder and then recompress with a command similar to:
sudo tar --numeric-owner -zpcf root.tar.gz ./*
Nice Topic, i've tried your first Bodhi Zip and it seems very fast and stable to me. A few bugs, but nothing major.
I'm waiting for the new Version to finish uploading

I couldn't find out how to mount those IMG files. I thought they were ext4 fs but they aren't. I tried to use dd to flash them on a drive but failure again. So to extract rootfs I install them with standard procedure (Ubuntu) and the repack roofs to tar.gz. It could be useful to find out how to directly extract rootfs, because it's the same method used by Ubuntu. With the difference that Ubuntu uses zsync to permit fast upgrade...!

I could never get it mounted as well.... Is this why your having a delay in uploading the new bodhi release?

If you can get the files from the .img files, you really dont need the zip to install it, just creat a dir with the name for the OS, then inside create a dir called root, then inside extract the .img
For the rom_info.txt file, just make the changes needed and put them on the same dir that ../root is and restart and you should be able to boot form it.

Unfortunately we have been unable to mount/extract anything from the image although it appears it may install via the multirom/ubuntu method

I think zip solution is the best and most "standard". When I make a zip I know it will work, because it's the final, multiROM surely compatible, version. And I can test it immediately, fix it, reflash, and try without messing the world up. I think update zips are the most user-friendly way too. But that's only MHO.
Hi everyone, I'm here to teach you guys on how to change the text "Swipe up or down to unlock" on Xperia Z lock screen. Since I saw some request on it.
Preparation:
*Framework Toolkit by Themike10452 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36085941 (at B section, only the toolkit) (from now on will call toolkit)
*Notepad++ http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ (under download tab)
*Java Development Kit http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html (choose the one compatible with your os) (install it before you open toolkit)
*Latest apktool (both apktool and and it's dependencies) http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/downloads/list (use dependencies for windows if you are on windows)
*7zip File Manager http://www.7-zip.org/
{ above all software are essentials for one to mod any apk files and frameworks. }
*UxpNxtLockScreen.apk (extract from ROM either from phone memory using root file explorer or from flashable ROM zip (at system/app)
*A thinking Brain
**Framework Toolkit by Themike10452 http://d-h.st/Pkb (this is the version that I'm using to mod apk and framework (it mean it is working, for me), use it if your toolkit is not working, only for windows os only) (I have no idea am I allowed to share this tool or not, since i didn't get permission from Themike10452 yet, request sent but no reply at all at the moment, I will put this down if Themike10452 request so)

Instructions/Guide:
§ 1st, extract Framework Toolkit by Themike10452 and put it aside on any where of your comp (preferable desktop).
§ 2nd, extract apktool files with 7 zip. Yes, open the bz2 files you had download just now, you will see a tar file within, open it again, then you will see a folder, for apktool, you will see a file jar file ; for dependencies, you will see 2 files exe and bat each, copy them and replace the same file in toolkit folder (inside the "other" folder", just override the old files).
§ place UxpNxtLockScreen.apk in "place-apk-here-for-modding" within toolkit folder.
§ run "Apk-Multi-Tool.bat" as admin. Press any keys to continue after the "Multi Tool Screen" appear. It will lead you to a screen with multiple options shown with numbers in front of them.
§ check: at top right corner, "Current-App" should follow with "UxpNxtLockScreen.apk"(if no, please recheck whether if the file you put is in correct place or not and you shouldn't have more than 1 apk in that folder to start modding or theming), then press "9" and enter to decompile apk. Once it's done, minimize the toolkit, you will use it later, now go to root folder of toolkit, within projects folder you will see a folder named "UxpNxtLockScreen.apk".
(from 1st instruction until here is the general decompiling apk process, it should works on all apks unless the apk have extraordinary resources that can't be decoded by apktool by other toolkit, maybe? and the following instructions will be called "modding" *yes, you are now starting to mod a/an apk file now )
§ navigate to /projects/UxpNxtLockScreen.apk/res/values/ and you will see 11 xml files. Open strings.xml with Notepad++.
§ find the line with this name "lockscreen_unlock_hint", use Ctrl + F if you can't find them.
eg:<string name="lockscreen_unlock_hint">Swipe up or down to unlock</string>
§ change the sentence after " > " and before " </string> " with the sentence you desire and save the file (Ctrl + S)
§ Back to Apk Multi Tool, press " 21 " > enter > " 0 " > enter. ( This is to set compression level to 0. I'm not sure if it works with Compression level at 9) then " 11 " and enter to recompile the apk. A while later. screen will pause and show a message end with < y / n >:
2 options here:
# To be safe, press " y " and enter then wait for it to extract source from original apk, navigate to keep folder, delete a file named "resources.arsc" and back to apk multi tool and press any buttons to continues. (this is to keep the original sources at new modified apk to reduce error and maintain its compatibilities to the ROM.)
# Another is " n ", just press n and enter, and done. (i wont give 100% working in this way, do it on your own risk)
§ You will then get a file named "System_UxpNxtLockScreen.apk", move or copy it into your SD, rename to "UxpNxtLockScreen.apk", and replace it with correct permission ( R W - R - - R - - ).

eg: <integer name="unlocks_before_hint_removal">100</integer>

You may use the apktool provided by stanlin salu from his tutorial of decompile/recompile apk. About decompile and recompile apk, follow his tutorial, just edit those files according to my instructions/guide. This thread is actually only providing the information about which file and which line to be edited to change the unlock tips and unlock times before remove tips.
{stanlin salu's apk decompile and recompile tutorial and apktool download------------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011337
CAUTION!
§ Please check both of your apk file by opening them with 7 zip file manager, compare both apk for their content(should be total of 3 files and 2 folders), all the files and folders within should have the same size except "resource.arsc" *unless you modified some other pictures, then check the number of files contained in the folder, the number of files must be the same. If "META-INF" is different, please copy the folder from original apk to modded apk and override them. None of those files (classes.dex, AndroidManifest.xml, META-INF...) can be 0kb (I think only odexed framework will get 0kb, deodexed framework will not get 0kb)
§ If you replaced any picture in drawable folders, please make sure that the picture have same file name with the original picture. And during recompile process, please delete the same picture file of the same name that you modified at keep folder if you choose < y > at the pause.
Miscellaneous:
§ If you seriously having problem to recompile or modding, you may upload UxpNxtLockScreen.apk or yours to me for modding and I will upload to you once I get it done.
§ Please give me some time to mod for you since I'm just a Pre-University Student who studied 12 hours a day and also spending my time with my family and friends as well. I'm doing all these as a part of my interest and my own free will.

did you install the Java and restart your comp? the apktool require Java Development Environment(JDE) to run it. JDE download is on 1st post. and you must choose the correct version, for instance like me, i'm using windows 7 ultimate x64, so i installed windows x64 bits version. since you said u tried different version of apktool and its not working, you must have either java problem, or you did not running it as administrator.
