Guys,
Just got my sgs2 yesterday. Rooted. everything was okay.
Then I wanted to set a ringtone + notification sound right.
Got into sound settings, ringtones and started to try them out.
at first there was sound and ringtones played, but then suddenly it stopped.
The speaker is dead - No sound at all. no shutdown sound, no usb connection sound, no ringer sound, no media sound.
Tried : Restart, Switching silent mode on/off, switching vibration on/off, FACTORY RESET, searching the hell out of the web to find a solution on this ...
Please help !
I'm with stock OS, phone bought in UK via clove.

Are you sure this is a hardware problem ?
p.s : It's really hard to return a product to a seller that is thousands of miles away.

We can't be sure, but what you've said indicates that something is wrong.
Have you considered a reflash with the stock Samsung firmware?
Also, given you have rooted, you might be best to use a Jig to reset the number of "non official" binaries flashed, so that it doesn't appear to have been rooted, as we all know what some places are like with rooting
A test play an MP3 file on your PC .
Transfer that to sd card then while sd card is connected try to play via pc by double click . then open my files navigate to the MP3 and play it .
jje
Well I've just reflashed the kernel (from the rooting procedure)
No go
Will try to flash the whole firmware - downloading ...
this is sooooooo frustrating !!!!!

I think the same thing happened to me.
My sound from the normal speaker worked last night before I went to bed, I plugged it in and this morning my alarm didn't wake me up.
Headphone jack works
Headset speaker works
All sounds through the back speaker are a no go.
I tried reflashing a few different firmwares and still a no go.
Sucks theres no stock Bell firmware out because I can't get warranty until it is!
Damn

Hi there,
Got the same problem with my 3 days old (or rather: new) Galaxy Note!
Regards,
I sent my phone back to Samsung and they fixed it. It isnt a complicated repair it will void your warranty tho.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
your problem is that the phone thinks that a headset or headphone is inserted..... try to use ur headset to prove this....
get the app that disable headset/headphone and all ur media sound will go to your speakers. i had this problem too and the only solution ive found was the app.... its not a hardware problem but a system bug....... goodluck
Hey, I had the same issue. Just buy a new speaker. MODULE-SPK+INT GH59-10917A. Changing that is piece of cake.
Just check a youtube for howtos. Buying one should be like below $8 on ebay.
It took me only 10 minute to fix it (and 3 days of waiting for the mail to arrive
cheers
Moon Shadow - NM Presents to you: THE LONG AWAITED APP OF THE NUANCE VOICE COMMAND SUITE FOR CM7DX2!
This has been verified: THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH MIUI!
As with all of my mods, etc, you are responsible for what you do to your phone! DO A NANDROID BACKUP!
I was saddened by the fact that cm7dx2 did not have a good "echo back" voice control app. The default one works pretty good, but you still have to look at the screen.
For those of us who have used the Nuance Voice Command Suite from the stock DX2, know what a pleasure it is to use a voice control app that you don't have to look at the screen for. For me, this is one of those small, but critical things I would prefer to have on my phone.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the stock DX2 Nuance app to work. It was freaking out because it was making a system call to a deprecated lock screen method (keyguard). Anyhow, I tried porting the default app to cm7dx2, but I wasn't having much luck. I then decided to search to see if anyone else had posted the Nuance app from another Verizon phone. I found one for the Pantech ADR8995 and thought, what the hell, I'll see if it installs... Well, what do you know, it did! Without errors! HOT DAMN!
Next was the big test... Let's see if it works... I launched the app and BINGO! It said, "Please wait..." Followed by the familiar, "Please say a command." SWEET! I checked a couple of commands and it seems to work just fine. I have briefly tested all the commands and they all work well for me. Enjoy!
[EDIT]
NEW INFORMATION! The echo back of voice confirmation DOES work. Just not over Bluetooth. I tried it on both my non A2DP bluetooth headset (a Plantronics Voyager Pro) and my A2DP headset (an Altec Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903).
When using Nuance over speaker, WITHOUT a bluetooth headset connected (paired and connected) to it, the echo back works just fine. This is also the case with SOME wired headsets with a mic.
[/EDIT]
[OLD EDIT]
I have found a problem. For me, it's not a big deal but it might be a deal breaker for others. I don't know how to fix it either (yet). Anyhow, The "echo back" of a contact name does not work. For me, that's okay; for you, I dunno. I'll keep working to try to fixit and will update this as I have information.
[/OLD EDIT]

It's not really a mod. If you use a bluetooth headset frequently, like I do, and are in a state that has outlawed messing with your phone while driving (that should be common sense, but I guess some people don't have that), it's a PITA to be driving and having to look at your phone to see when the CM7 Voice Commands prompt is ready to accept a voice command. The Nuance app "talks back" to you. (Not in that way!) It provides voice prompts for your voice actions. For example:
I long press my BT headset button to launch it and it usually says, "Please wait." Followed by, "Please say a command."
I respond, "Call wife mobile."
Nuance responds, "Calling wife mobile."
And it dials the call, all without looking at my phone, or needing to pull it out.
Ciao!

When I tried it, I spoke into the microphone with no headset.
I do not know if Bt works on Miui as I do not own any wireless headsets. The only hands-free tech I use is the mic on my skullcandy headphones and those do work well.

Okay. When you launch it, do you hear either "Please wait." AND/or "Please say a command."?
Once you hear "Please say a command." wait about 1 second, then start talking. To test, I say "Check time."
If you are not even getting as far as hearing the voice prompt, then my guess is it doesn't work in Miui. Can another Miui user confirm this? Thanks!

Hy guys,
Just bought a HOX+, and everything seemed ok until I plugged the earphones in. THEN:
- first of all there was a lot of static sounds, i tried other earphones, and then after like 2 min it stoped (the statics)
- after that, the stock earpieces seem to work good. However when i turn off the music (any app like stock player or youtube app of even imdb) there is this "shsshssss" sound, very low, that remains for like 2 seconds. And then it stops.......like a chanel closes.........
Q: IS this normal.? Did it happend to you? Should I replaced the handset?
PS: the phone is stock, haven't done anything to it.
Thx in advance!

Happens. I don't know why, but I know it's not your earphones.
Update to the latest system software update. That might fix it.
I have the latest version on it..........I am just wondering if audio quality is bad on HOX+ or should I change it with a new device????
Please let me know because I have only 1 day to change it!!!
Definitely defective, my phone has brilliant audio quality, my problem was that the phone would not even recognize earphone connection until I realized that the one x doesn't support some earphones with iPhone remotes.
Just vor replaced and it is better....way better.....so I am a very happy owner of a beautifully box+......fully functional.....hope I don't run into other issues...tnx. for replies

I'm using Xiaomi Piston 2 headphones aswell. I must say that they're some AMAZING headphones. Considering their price, which is only 20$, they're really great. Awesome sound quality and headphone controls. I use them with my Sony Xperia™ Z2 on 4.4.4 ROM and they're working great. 4.4.4 is great too.
So, everything is great.
That's all.

not possible. i dont know how you are even getting sound through the earphones. in most of the cases the phone wont even register the earphones as connected and the sound will simply come from the speakers.

yes. it'll ' work like that, but basically you are left with any other normal earphones without any buttons. and a pretty bad sound quality (personal experience). there is currently no method of using it with 4.4.2 that i know of and personally i dont find any problem with 4.4.4. its actually much better then 4.4.2 along with many new funtions. but its a personal preference i agree. sorry but you either have to use 4.4.4 or drop the idea of using pistons with 4.4.2. just coz of curiosity, what exactly is your problem with 4.4.4?

Hi all ! I come with a annoying problem...
Having speed problem on my Honor 5x I installed lineage OS.
I use a helmet bluetooth headset. When I call or someone call me I can perfectly hear the caller but not him.
It's not a device problem because I tried with another phone without any trouble.
On lineage ROM's i deleted Audio FX. I worked for the first call then same problem.
I remove all voice option from OK Google with no effect.
I'm desperate because I use my headset for my job.
I've installed other ROM with always the same problem.
Since i installed back stock rom but i want to throw my phone on the floor every days because of the speed (sometimes 5 minutes to have my road on maps !)
Do you think it could come from the Kernel ?
Thanks for everyone havong a guess.
Thanks

You can search here for a solution (but don't get too excited). If you think is a kernel issue you can try HotDoG kernel.
Even hot dog finds same issues as they rely on crpalmers kernel tree
