I am trying to cook my own ROM can someone let me know how I should do the following:
* have the start menu at the top
* Have Co0kie's Home Tab but the menu button in the home page that edits the home is not required. I need some other functional button like contacts. So in my ROM we will have a phone button and a contacts button
* Have in the ROM some professional style, elegant buttons.

Hey guys,
I have a new to me Telstra HD2 with a recent NRG Rom. Are the Send & End keys the only assignable keys on HD2? I'd like to add <long press> functionality to some of the other keys, but haven't found a way to add them in the Buttons settings dialog.
Thanks!!
I'm looking for a way to simulate pressing the "Home" hardware key at the bottom, to return to the Sense home tab, without actually pressing that key. I have seen several programs which can take over things like taps on the "X" button or even top taskbar clock, but although they can be set to close or minimize the active program, they don't seem to be able to achieve the same effect as pressing the "Home" key.
The closest I've been able to come is wktask which can assign the "Show Today" action to the "X" soft button, but it doesn't work so well with WM 6.5.X versions due to other glitches and incompatibilities, so is not ideal.
Is there any such program that can simulate the "Show Today" action, ideally by a tap on the top taskbar clock? So that the hardware key can be bypased?
quite easily:
you can create a link to Home link (found in start Menu) which will return to home sence tab.
This can be linked to anything that can select a shortcut as a function.
Example being Utask, this gives extra function to x screen-button & start menu button by long press on these screen buttons, long press mapped to Home.lnk & you got what you want.
Mortscript could also be useful in setting these sort of things up.
Thanks for the reply and advice. However on the rom that I am using (Artemis) there is no "Home" shortcut available via the start menu. In another rom (Energy) I do see this shortcut in the start menu, but am unable to find it as a file in \Windows\Start Menu\ and so I have no way of creating a link to it or pointing to it in the options for uTask.
Can anyone provide instructions for finding or creating this "Home" shortcut so that I can implement it as desired? If anyone is able to locate it as a file/link on their rom, is it possible to upload it here to this thread so that I can copy it onto my device?
Or any other ideas?
The home link is basically a link to: ManilaShortcut.exe
with parameter: home
You can set this up in utask to one of its touch buttons by setting it to launch- ManilaShortcut.exe
found in windows folder & adding parameter- home
If you do not have ManilaShortcut.exe I will upload it & shortcuts I have for it.
Thanks Mister B, the instructions as posted above worked as desired and I am now able to switch back to the Sense Home Tab at any time from any application, by tapping on the top taskbar clock. This is exactly what I wanted to accomplish.
Doing a "minimize" was already possible by default with uTask, but that would not always take you right back Home if you had other apps open and running behind the current foreground one. Now it's one-click to return home while leaving everything open and running.
Very much appreciated.
Hi there!
I would like to know if it exists a mod that give us the status bar functionality like the HTC one, where you can see running application bringing down the status bar instead pushing home button...or just a mod to have a function (other than the ones already there you can switch on/off like in the OMEGA rom) that active the home button for running apps.
Could be also nice to mod the left soft button (long press it) to bring that function too.
I use very often the hardware home to switch between running apps and I think that it could wear down with time.
Best regards!
Alex
Hi, I found some old threads about changing keylayout and stuff, but nothing recent (you know: since JB) and I just got the phone yesterday.
Right now, the phone does this:
Menu button press: menu
Menu button hold: Google Now (search)
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: SVoice
Home button hold: Recent Apps
Back button press: Back
And I would like it to do this:
Menu button press: Recent Apps
Menu button hold: menu
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: nothing
Home button hold: Google Now (search)
Back button press: Back
I'm kinda surprised that I can't find an app for this, as it really just seems like I'd be changing a little bit of text inside some config/layout files.
FWIW, I'm running completely stock but I rooted it yesterday. No ROM has been flashed, and I would love to keep it that way. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Biggidy biggidy bump
My thread got pushed off the front page faster than I could find Google Now on my new phone.

Thanx - nice find!
It still doesn't accomplish what I want, though... And I am a HUGE proponent of keeping things simple. My least favorite thing about Windows 8? All those muthereffin gestures that you need to memorize. It's not simple, and you have to completely relearn how to use an OS that you've been using for ages.
Okay, I just installed CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.2) on my Samsung GT-P5100 (first time I'm doing this)
1) Is there any way I can receive/listen FM radio ? Even if I have to change my firmware? I tried some apps, but I can't do it :X either they all crash when I launch them or they won't install at all..
2) Is there any way I can rearrange my applications in the "app drawer" that comes with the CM ? Maybe if I had a virtual menu button ?
3) Can I enable the virtual screenshot button on the bottom (the bar where the virutal back, home and running apps buttons are). I had ICS before this and I really liked it, but now - holding Power & VolumeDown, or taking a screenshot from the power menu.. I don't like it as much
Thank you in advance!!!
