[Q] Battery Temperature - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please help!
My water damage indicator is pink, with the battery temperature is always over 30 degree, it always restart itself when I use the GPS (both in WinMo and Android). It is a used phone so I don't know if it has actually been damaged from water. Does this sound like a overheat problem (water damaged related)?
Thanks in advance.

Battery losing voltage very fast

Hello, my S2 is now old round year and 8 months.
Recently, when i overload the device will many quick actions, screen flickers and device shuts off.
Also i noticed after 20-30% of battery is gone, its just matter of moments when device will turn off.
About voltage, i noticed, it drops really quickly from like 3900 to 37xxmV in minutes, when capacity goes down maybe 2-3%.
On charger everything is fine
I am planning to get a new battery, but i would just like to confirm a possibility that maybe it isnt an issue about the battery but with fuel gauge chip or some other hardware part?
Can some share some insight?
thank you in advance
Given the age of the battery, logic dictates the battery is on the way out & needs replacing.
I am aware of that, i did torment the phone, am really a power user...
However i just wanted to check if anyone had some similar experiences, or known hardware failures of such kind

Battery drains at slightest of phone bumps..

My original i777 battery drains out at the slightest of bumps my phone receives. At times like when i would fling the phone on the bed, and i pick the phone later, it's screen will be all warm and the phone switched off. It may power on again or not depending upon the % of battery drainage suffered.
Is this battery issue? Getting misaligned from the phone's contact points?
Hard to say what would be causing this. Sounds like something internal to me. The phone is starting to get fairly old. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Have you eliminated the possibility of it being a firmware issue by flashing back to stock?

After rain : Battery temperature too low , no load possible

Yesterday my s6 edge has suffered a water damage ,then i have built the phone apart and dried it. Today I assembled it and started. To my surprise, everything works . Only the battery has rapidly emptied from 15% to 2 % . When I tried to charge the battery came the message, that the battery temperature is too low and therefore the loading is not possible .
is the battery broken or the temperature sensor, an where is it? Is there any app , with which I can find the error ?

You should be fine. I lost my phone last weekend and it rained the whole time was finally found a few days later but I put the phone in a bowl of rice for a few hours and used a hair dryer to get the condensation out from the front camera. Gave it a full charge and everything works perfect.

Your battery was damaged. Find a replacment or try clean up the contact from inside the battery. Should be 1 small board inside
Have you tried wireless charging?

Battery Charging Issue?

Got this device around a week ago and I'm finally daily driving it. I've noticed a big issue though... I can't charge the device past 80% when its turned on. It stops itself from charging it seems like. I have to turn off the phone completely, and plug it in when powered off to get it to 100%.
Is there a setting I have checked or something? maybe a Kernel Tweak I don't know about that could be causing this that I could change/reverse/modify?
Thanks!

Turn off optimized charging.
ohhhhhhh. Epic. Thanks
It's not a good idea to charge with screen on especially in high temperatures or in direct sunlight. You can cause hardware damage like this... auto thermal shutdown may not engage fast enough to save the device.
In general charging while using skews the charging curve, increases charging time and battery stress. These phones have a fixed heat sinking capacity which cases and glass screen protectors further compromise.
Constant operation with battery levels near 100% will impact battery longevity noticably.
Keep watch for any signs of case bulging. It indicates battery swelling/failure. Replace it immediately if this happens. Other signs of a battery failure are a sharp drop in capacity, erratic fast charging or failure of fast charging to engage. A swollen battery can destroy the display.
The risk of a thermal runaway event increases exponentially with a failed or degraded Li.
Replace them when their capacity falls below 80% of new to avoid a failure.

99.9% of the time I'm charging, the screen is off and I'm watching tv before bed. I'll unplug at 100% and go to bed. I also won't plug in until I'm under 15%.
I work in cell phone whole sale and repairs, so one thing I understand well is taking care of a device.
But, disabling that setting recommended above, it still stops charging at 75% entirely and never goes to 100 unless I turn it off entirely

If the screen is on it may not charge at all.
This is normal.
Cycling the battery like you do stresses it and will reduce its lifespan.
Li's like frequent mid range power cycling.
Not under 30% or over 80%
If it didn't use to behave like this the battery may have degraded. 1-2 years is a typical lifespan for a heavily used Li. Approximately 200 full charge cycles.
Replace when it degrades to less than 80% of its original capacity to avoid a failure.
This phone has only been out since January 2021, so its not a batter degrade issue. Plus, it was pulled brand new out of the box like this. You also didn't read what I said. I'm not using it while charging at all. Its sitting on a table next to me while I'm watching tv or gaming on my PC/Switch. I'll check it once in awhile to see battery percentage and it will stop at 75%, then discharge as if its not plugged in at all. I have to turn the phone OFF COMPLETELY to charge it to 100% once I get to 75%
I'm assuming software issue. when I had GSI roms on the phone, it worked fine.

Li batteries can fail at any time.
Symptoms; diminished battery capacity, erratic fast charging. Any signs of phone swelling, usually the rear cover is a battery failure in progress. Replace immediately.
If the phone is drawing more current than the charger and/or the power controller can supply, it will drain the battery.
It may be a software, firmware or hardware issue...
Check all settings, disable all power management. Enable fast charging (toggle on/off 3 times then leave on).
Clear system cache and do a hard reboot.
Return associated updated apps to their factory loads.
If you did any major firmware (OS) updates do a factory reset.
A defective/improper charger or cable; try known good Samsung charger/cable.
Defective C port PCB.
A failed mobo.
Time to send it in for service or replacement.

It's a standard OnePlus feature at work.

phone keeps turning off randomly

Hi guys, My device keeps turning off randomly - I haven't found any correlation between battery percentage and turning off nor what app I am using. Happens at 80% as well as at 35%. It just straight turn off, no rebooting etc.
I haven't experienced this behavior while charging though. Also I experienced few times that even when the battery was at like 40 % and phone turns off on the turning off display when there is a sign turning off and litle circle under it, the battery indicator in status bar suddenly turns red as it's empty. Phone turns off and while I plug in the charger it shows correct percentage - e.g. 40 % again.
about phone:
This started cca 2-3 weeks after display change, I thought there might be an issue with connectors badly plugged in or something- checked and everything was ok.
Phone was running on custom ROM Pixel experience (android 10) for over half a year without any issue so I thought there might occur a software issue- I flashed new ROM - Lineage 18.1 (android 11), sadly it didn't solve the issue.
I also did a baterry scan with app Battery Recover 2021 with results: Low 2 %, inactive 3 %, healthy 95 % so the battery is also not an issue.
Only thing I found that is not 100% working is power button, even when I take the back housing off. It's probably worn out and I gotta press it few times from random angle/press with force to do what it's supposed to do.
Can this be the issue? Can this piece of hardware cause random shutting off? Any ideas?
Thanks guys
How old is the battery? It's a prime suspect.
They're cheap enough, throw a new one in.
Replace the power switch if possible as you know it's bad.
Otherwise if it's not gotten wet or dropped and the connectors are all ok, barring the above former causes it's likely a C port pcb or mobo failure.
Do some Google searches for this series of phones to see if others have had similar issues and the cause. Use XDA in the search to find results here.
the battery is original, so 4 years old? It last 1-2 days prior this turning off issue has happened so I think it's capacity is fine, nevertheless I still ordered a new one and I'll give it a try since phone is not turning off while being charged.

Degraded Li's can fail just like that.
A degraded Li is defined as one that has lost 80% or more of its original capacity. That's when they should be replaced to prevent a failure which can damage other components.
A swollen Li is a failure.

thanks man, it was the battery. I replaced it and phone works, no signs of random turning off.
Yeah batterys are usually the thing wrong
