[Q] Trace Restricted Number - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have been getting calls from a restricted number, not harrassing, just annoying. Is there a simple app to trace Restricted calls? Thanks for any help

I've looked for myself in the past, but to no avail. Sorry.

You can probably call Verizon the next time that it happens and tell them you're being harrassed (or annoyed) and they should be able to trace it for you.

Ive received a harassing call once before and Verizon cant do anything about it. this isn't an advertisement but do a Google search for "trapcall" i believe its still free, it'll be able to help you.
Cheers!

No app to trace, but you CAN find Reverse Lookup on the market, and if these numbers keep calling, you can use that app to send straight to voicemail.

I googled it and it is not free anymore. Plans start at 5 bucks a month and go up to 25 bucks a month. I also double checked my wireless account (personal not business) and did not see any option that can enable a thing like this.

I can't remember the app name off hand but there are some out there that will allow you to send blocked numbers straight to VM.

Is there a way to reveal restricted call?

I am getting tired of getting restricted calls. I have an app to block em but I wanna know who it is. Does anyone know of a way that reveals restricted call without paying for it?

This would be a question to ask your phone company (I.e. Verizon). The whole point of being able to restrict your caller ID info is to prevent the called party from knowing what the calling number is, so I doubt finding out who called you would be free, if it's even possible in the first place.
At the very least, I doubt you'll find an app that can do it, because your phone isn't receiving the caller ID info in the first place. It's being blocked by Verizon's switches, or something further up the chain.

See Ivorycruncher's post above, he is correct. The number never GETS to your phone, which is how that app would then utilize it's White Page search function of the number. Through at least Verizon's switches, the number is blocked, so again, that will not work.
Answer it.

[Q] Accessing Voicemail on Atrix Issues

Hello All,
I used to have an iPhone 3G, where my voicemail was easily available via the dialer. I have not checked my voicemail since I've bought my Atrix 4G (which has been over a month). I'm not sure if rooting, and theming may have screwed up my settings or not, but I attempt to access my VM and it asks me for a mailbox #. WTF?!? I never EVER recall setting up one, as far as I know it was just there and tied to my phone. I was able to access my VM by calling my phone number from my cell, but now I attempt to do that and I get a busy signal.
A tad frustrated, so sorry for the crazy rant above. Has anyone else experienced the same/similar situation? And if so, is there a way to fix it? I don't want to result in calling Customer Service/Tech Support for ATT until I've attempted to troubleshoot things here, since they will probably ask me "have you done anything to your phone" and I'll have to be like, "Yes, I attempted and succeeded in making it better from your and Moto's BS filled phone."
Thanks all for your time!
Press and hold the #1 on the keypad for vm.
If it asks for a mailbox number, you will have to call AT&T.
This is typical for users going from visual voicemail to standard voicemail.
Some AT&T reps forget to reconfigure your vm.

I thought anybody with a Google phone would know to use Google Voice.
When you cone from iPhone they cancel your VM. You have to get them to set it up again, then you can use it.

They don't forget to reconfigure it, they actually cancel it. They just forget to add it back for your plan.

This is what I use, but it doesn't hurt to have the carrier's VM to fallback on.

Missing "New Voicemail" indicator

Has anyone found a solution to the missing "waiting voicemail" indicator after upgrading to the latest ROM 2.11.605.0? Is this still a known issue?
It really sucks having to rely on the missed calls indicator to determine if you maybe have a voicemail or not.
Thanks in advance for any information on this.

Nope. GV is free. Nothing to do with the vvm plan. I like the transcribed messages when people actually speak clearly. It's nice if you're in a meeting. I've been using it since it was first released and I've loved it the whole time. Individual outgoing messages is nifty too.
known gingerbread issue, +1 on google voice.
Since upgrading to a GB ROM I have an issue with the VM indicator not going away after I clear out my voicemail box. Is this issue related to the missing indicator with GB ROMs?
thanks

Yes, all gingerbread roms have VVM issues. It probably won't be fixed until the final release of gingerbread is out. Google voice is free, and can email or text you transcripts of your voicemails, as well as let you look at them with the Google Voice app.
I travel out of the US a lot, so getting emails of my messages and being able to listen to them over WiFi is a huge plus for me.

AT&T Forwarding question

Hey guys,
I have question regarding AT&T call forwarding. I know how to forward incoming calls on phone A to phone B, but my question is, can I forward outgoing calls from phone B to A also?
I have two AT&T phone numbers, but I don't wan't some people to know about my second phone number. Is there any way I can make phone calls on one phone, but make it appear like i'm calling from the other one?
I tried googling this like crazy, but I'm not even sure what the outgoing forwarding is called.
Thanks in advance

Yes, I've had my google voice number for about a year now. I have google voice set up on my phone for voice mail only.
From what I've read, what I'm trying to do is not possible.

No...you can't spoof it to show your "b" tele number.
It would have worked better with one att number and one Google voice number.
Unless there is an app that will do it.

I think they were suggesting you just get another Google Voice number to hide your real number. I'm guessing you can't use the same Google Voice number on multiple phones at the same time, but worth a try I suppose...

Blocking Texts

In the past, when I've blocked numbers through Sprint's 'My Device' preferences, the people I block that text me would get a quick text back from a 5 digit number stating that my phone isn't accepting text messages. That was when I was with any sense ROM, especially stock. With CM10.1 it does nothing. I'm assuming this is because it doesn't have the PRL Update, Profile Update, and Sprint Zone. Does anyone know if that is true? If that is true, before I give this a try myself, does anyone know if Sprint Zone is safe to run on an AOSP ROM? I'd assume not but at the same time I would think it would be alright. Or maybe Sprint just doesn't notify users anymore that another user isn't accepting text messages? Any help will be appreciated greatly.
Edit: I flashed MeanBean and that didn't seem to make a difference. Even with the service update immediately after making the changes. I'm at a loss here.

Try Mr. Number ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrnumber.blocker) I find it helpful for unknown numbers as well since users can leave comments about telemarketers and what not.

Huh. That's odd. Never had that problem with that. I know that customers can do that through Sprint.com. The problem isn't finding a way to block numbers. The problem is that when I use any block option on Sprint.com that anybody who texts me, who isn't in Sprint, won't receive a message stating that my phone isn't accepting messages. Even though Sprint reps say that all users on any carrier receive that message. But I didn't expect a Sprint rep to know what they're talking about.
For future reference to everyone: read the post before replying. Just an idea.
Thanks for the help.
