search for 'Task 29'
Go to the ROM Section and look for a thread on flashing ROM for Noobs. Read it. If you plan to do any of the tasks, then read it again.
as said above do task29 and everything will be wiped off ur device but read carefully so u dont make any mistake....
good luck

Hey everyone,
I've already rooted my Droid Incredible, and it was an pretty simple process to do. I've browsing around these fascinate forums for a little bit as my wife wants me to root hers to get rid of a lot of the bloat, and possibly check out other Roms. I just want to make sure I'm looking at the correct guides as one says that it is basically old info, and another just seems to be old to me.
So I was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a guide is all as if I break her phone, I'm sure she'll Lorena Bobbit me.
Much appreciated!
u dont need to root ur phone if u want install custom rom cos most of custom rom already rooted all have to do is choose what rom u wanna flash and choose the right recovery (use Odin) for that rom and u all good
try this link if u r new to fasciante

most rom did that for u ..
what he is saying is once you use ODIN to install clockwork recovery, all you do is flash a ROM after wiping and resetting your phone, and you have a custom rom installed. I am assuming your wife's Fassy is running the latest OTA, whichever it is....download ODIN to a PC, there are a couple guides out there that include ODIN, and the ED05 rom/PIT combo. directions are pretty straight forward as most roms have them in the first post. read up on the ROMs and decide which you would like to run, being a Cyanogen man since the OG Droid, I would recommend it...fast, good battery life...but MIUI is a really slick rom as well, a little iphone-ish as you have to have all your apps on your homescreens, but Folders help you there...and you can still have widgets...the ability to have Android widgets are one of the many reasons why iPhones will never be in my hand...
anyway, check out the instructions to unbrick and also to return to anyother rom from a CM7/MIUI build as they completely change the filesystem, so if you want to go back to Touchwiz based roms, you will need to go through ODIN again with the ED05/PIT package before installing TW roms...
enjoy and ask away, plenty of helpful people here, but always search search search, you may find your answer faster than waiting for responses on the forum!
I agree with the above, but if you only want to root the stock rom then follow this guide in link.

Hi guys. Need your help over ere! As the title suggests, ive forgot to take a backup of my rom before flashing with 'Sensation rom by Crysis'. Now, if i want 2 revert back to the stock rom, what can i do? Also, theres a new v2.5 available for our SGS2s but I cant update nw, as the update option is probably removed on dis rom! Plz help!
You can install a clean stock ROM without any problems. All your stuff that were in the old one are gone though, unless you didn't wipe before installing the new ROM.

Hey mate maybe you should read this post 1st before you delete something on your S2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282
Cheers
Here & also Stickies.
You're going to have to do a lot of reading/learning. There are no shortcuts, taking shortcuts & not reading/learning leads to bricked phones.
i still didn't get answer to my first question do i need to delete all data on my phone to flash a new ROM??
If your on stock rom then no you don't.
i don't have any rom flashed now, but i'm thinking of miui or cyanogen, do i need to wipe all data or cache for this roms??
Follow whatever instructions these roms have to the letter & you should be fine. It isn't a case of do X regardless of whatever rom you're installing. Some roms have specific instructions.
Yea but its better when you always make a full wipe everytime you change your rom to minimize FCs (errors) but dont forget to back up all your datas and apps

Not the best thread to start with. Find and choose a ROM yourself and read the instructions before trying to install it.
Again a best rom thread! Search and find the best for you
How to install it is in my guide, just check my signature

Actually there is best Rom.
Here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969555
Usually on locked boot loader you must wipe system partition form mounts and storage in CWM before installing a new ROM. Also you have to factory reset(wipe /data& /cache) the device and wipe dalvick-cashe.
Don't forget to carefully read the instructions before doing anything!
Good luck!
Every Rom is created to be best, but you need to look what you want. Some ROM's are really fast, but disable some functions, so it up to you to choose.
Sorry, no "Best ROM" threads.

Hey guys,
I wanted to ask if its possible to get a custom Kernel and rooting my international S3 without losing all my apps?
I just dont wanna use Titanium since it would take forever since i've got alot of apps etc.
I've rooted and put a custom rom on another phone a few years ago and i still remember this would delete all your content as you install a new rom,
and i would like to ask if i can avoid that?
Best regards,
DrLuigi

rooting and installing a kernel does not wipe data and you also do not have to wipe it
even flashing a rom does not wipe data, except you choose to wipe it (which is recommend if you change android versions)
CF auto root, guide on how to use it in general forum, stickies. It won't wipe your phone.
Please search before starting new threads.
Do you guys perhaps know a good kernel that can go along with the stock rom that should be safe to not wipe my whole phone?
I know you shouldnt ask for the best rom and such, But this is a specific question.
Thanks for the help.

there are so many: devil, boeffla, googy_max are just some examples I know which work with the stock rom and they are all great (the other ones i have maybe forgotten as well), just try them out and choose the one that suits you best.
and don't be scared: they won't wipe your data
