Hi.
I bought a T-Mobile handset, but only because it was a bargain and used THIS guide to root and debrand my phone.
Follow it completely if you also want to root, OR, follow it to, and complete Step 5 so you have a generic 016 firmware, then run SEUS which will update you to R2BA026, then run THIS to root with an app should you want to.

[Q] unlock or not unlock?

Ok, theese phones are good, rooted we're able to do almost everything, but we lose DRM and other cool stuffs, so I'm not so sure if unlock my ray or not and I think many ppl are in my same situation. Do our phones really need to be unlocked? Well, maybe when any good ROM will be cooked, but now?
Motivate me please^^ and sry for my bad english
Do you enjoy your phone as it is now? Is your warranty still valid?
In my opinion you should keep it locked down, at least until a really good ROM comes out or your warranty expires.
Rooting and unlocking is mostly usefull for devices without stock gingerbread. Like x8 and x10 mini. But xperia mini is good without root. I have the mini and it is an awesome device. Keep it origional.

As long as you don't have root, you don't own the device. Just saying.

right, I know... damn!!!!
My problem is far from crappy DRM but more for future updates as SE says "no updates via OTA with unlocked BL".
Does it means that with seus we'll still be able to update future fw ? In that case I'll jump on root procedure (cos I hate their "popcap games" app eating 9% of my battery stats !)

Not true at all. While you may not have access to the backend of your phone, it is still extremely customizable. Compared to something like an iPhone.
The option for root will always be avaliable to you anyhow, just because your phone isnt rooted now doesnt chaange that fact.

Can somebody confirm that PC updates are still ok with unlocked BL ?!
But you can,unlock-root-relock
=seus works again, and you got root. Cool huh?

Are you really sure of that ?
'cause I tried, that you said ... and SEUS told me no available update and did not want i reinstall the fw !

No, updating has nothing to do with your SIM. But in case I'm wrong, the guys down in Peckham will do it for a tenner.

Xperia mini pro unlock

Hello,
I've just been offered a good deal on this phone.
It's locked to orange and I'm with 3. How easy/expensive would it be to have it unlocked?
Thank you.
I tried searching but just got bootloader unlock info, and I'm not sure if it's the same thing.
Also is it a good phone?
Not many places, sell it and buy unlocked one ebay.or tesco but £20 to unlock from tesco and takes them 2 weeks to unlock

Ok thanks, so it isn't possible to unlock it myself via rooting etc?
The phone is costing me £104 delivered.
Cheers.
Ok so I've now bought this phone.
I've found a guy on ebay that can unlock it for £30 and takes around 1 week to get my code.
I just wanted to check there wasn't a cheaper/faster option before I clicked 'buy it now'?
Thank you.
Have you tried flashing a custom rom?
There is a very good version of CM on XDA now, with CM 7.2 (FX108).
I was told flashing a custom rom wouldn't make it sim free?
Is this not the case?
Thanks.

or with some paid softwares like setool2 omnius etc etc .
you can buy codes from site .
multiunlocker.com
unlockwiz.com
I've tried them sites, they're more expensive than the ebay guy.
Thanks anyway.
Anyone else before I hit the button?

Or should I debrand it before rooting?

Help? Dumbass Bricked Z2

So yeah I just bricked my Z2 and I have no idea how to fix it.
Just to tell you what I did. My phone Z2, EE carrier, D6503 V 17.1.A.2.69
I wanted to update to 402 but I have never done updates before and had no idea what to do. So me being a dumb ass downloaded the Kernel D6503 17.1.1.A.0.402 and flashed this to my phone using flashtool, flashmode. Obviously this isn't how to update a kernel :good: So Now my phone is bricked. When i boot the phone up I get the sony logo but after that the screen is blank and I can't do anything.
My pc still recognises my phone but I cant reinstall from Sony as it says I already have the latest update. I tried using flashtool to reflash 17.1.A.2.69 but it gets stuck at reading device information. So is there any way to save it?
my bootloader is locked so dunno why I was trying in the first place

You should be able to reflash the .69. Try turning off the phone hard by pressing the power and volume up (I think, maybe it's down) button for three seconds, the phone should vibrate 3 times and then turn off. Now wait a minute or so then try to reflash the .69 firmware in flashtool. You may want to reset your computer too just to be sure.
Good luck.
Flash it again with stock firmware , first restart your computer ( unplug any usb cable ), try to get into download mode ( follow these steps ) And get the .69 ( build firmware ) then flash it with it and voila :fingers-crossed:
PC restart seems to have done the job, thanks guys!
Is there anything I can actually do with my Z2 with bootloader unlock allowed: no?

No, if your bootloader comes locked then there is nothing you or anyone can do to unlock it. Your only option is to sell it and buy a factory direct version if you want root access (for now).

well from what i know sammobile doesent have much issues when it comes to licencing blah blah etc etc due to the country they are in
and they probably advertised right
aswell as market research, business method research
and not to mention samsung users at least in japan, england and france to my knowlage often buy accessories for their phone more so than that of a sony owner
ive found xperia owners commonly dont even buy as much accessories for their phones as HTC owners even
probably all factors combined it has made them successful at sammobile
(also a few hundred factors i didnt mention)

$100.... it's sounds good? Okay from my experience I bought my XperiaZ from Australian Telco before and it said Bootloader unlock allowed:No
but when I flashed official generic ftf using flashtool. It's said Bootloader Unlock allowed:Yes. So if you can take a risk try it(do it by your own! and don't forget to back up!)... you might try to do that. Luckly my XperiaZ2 is bootloader allowed one. Hope I have a chance to get 100bucks

This is very dangrous, this depends on the contents of the FTF and i wouldent recoment this at al
Have you tried flashing the German DE generic FTF, i think it has stuff for the TA partition
This may do your job
I still dont recomend, do this at your own will if you know how to unbrick a device
Although i would try it but only because i know how to unbrick a xperia (lol this part usualy takes a while)

I noticed him that it must be done by his own.... But he asks us to is there are anyway to do that? so I just posted the way I did.
I am not recommending him to do that.... I just simply answered his question. Always flash ftf w/o TA and partition.
It is recommended everywhere and If once he started to searching about flash tool it is warned by everyone.
You can't back up TA partition w/o root. So I don't think there is any way to get XperiaZ2 to back to completely stock.
(Although i would try it but only because ←What does it mean? It doesn't make sense for me.)
Well, I tried to flash the stock FTF.. same version as my devices. It errored.. and I am now bricked.
You can't modify an FTF and flash it to a bootloader locked device, modifying it will break Sony's signature verification
I'm guessing there's no way to unbrick?

Honestly i say keep your $$$ and wait for a exploit or root method of sorts
Me and my FTF will be a while and Z2 Development has started very slow and may be a while before anything of the sorts comes avaliable
I suggest if you realy want to root try exchanging your device for an unlocked one (or unlockable :/)
