This works on stock 1.6, NO ROOT REQUIRED
In the phone menu dial *#*#307#*#*.
something will flash on your screen for a split second
now you should be back @ the dialer screen.
go to your applications drawer(where all apps are located)
next to email app, you should see an app titled "EMList"
press on "EMList" app.
once the app opens scroll to the BOTTOM OF THE LIST
the very last option says APP_SECURITY.
press APP_SECURITY, then then turn on option to
'UPDATE UNKNOWN RESOURCE PROPERTY"
Press home button
Go to settings, Applications,
NOW LOOK @ YOUR TOP OPTION!!!!!
This worked for me as I downloaded swype from the website with no problems.
I have a US OFFICIAL DELL STREAK....let us know if this works for all models( UK & FROYO BUILDS)
You can unintall EMList now by dialing *#*#308#*#*. Now everything is as it was before

So I posted in the General section for the "GENERAL PUBLIC" whom aren't mod-savvy.

I can't really tell if either of those apps does the same thing as Remote Tracker, but in searching for them I ran across Theft Aware.

RemoteTracker for Android is almost there!
Hello all,
I know I was out for a very long time. But now it's time to release the first version for Android. But, before I go to Google Play, I need to test it in several devices. So, I released the first release candidade version in http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk.
There is also a PRO version, with more features, like capture all images from camera, take a picture from front camera when SEND button is pressed and more. You will can buy it from Play, but helping me with tests, translations or anything you will get it for free.
As I said before, RemoteTracker for Windows Mobile could be a success because the users, not me. And you can do it again for Android
There is a long way to go. I'm just starting the project.

It looks like a great app. the developer only tested it on his DroidX, and heres what happened when i tested it on my Vibrant (a Nexus user reported the same problem):

There's an app that works for Vibrant, dg Quickcut.
This is one more reason why Vibrant users NEED an AOSP system like CyanogenMod 6.1 instead of the Samsung crap that we've dealt with since the beginning. When will TheDudesAndroid finish with CyanogenMod Vibrant? He hasn't posted any progress on his twitter in a long time.

No the app I posted here is different...it creates a condensed button layout as opposed to cluttering your notification menu with several ongoing items

Each time I tried using SPB brain evolution 2 from the market I get messed up / black background (once in the main menu or games). The games uses opengl, for stuped menues, and something is messed up on sgs2. It was running fine on HD2-android, so that is not a game problem.
What I tried:
1. I had updated to KH3 firmware
2. Tried Chainfire 3d with plugings + shaders
3. Installed a different ROM (I am fun of MIUI)
still nothing changed
Can anyone confirm he has it running on their sgs2? Can anyone provide an intellegent guess on what it could be?
The android market says "This app is incompatible with your O2 Samsung GT-I9100."
It also says in the description "If you have any questions or comments, please email us at [email protected]."
The link to the developer's webpage also has the option to seek out technical support: http://www.spb.com/android-software/brainevolution/support.html though since Samsung Galaxy S II doesn't appear to be supported, you won't be able to specify it on the drop down list on there.

As an FYI - In the Infuse community we eventually had problems with trolls coming in via webchat. It was not possible to ban them without banning all webchat users.
Hopefully this won't happen in our channel, but if it does - if you use webchat and get a message that you're banned, try a real IRC client.
If it comes to that we will just set it to needing a +v voice to talk.

Good idea there. The problem for the Infuse channels was that the registered owner disappeared as soon as he was donated a device.

There usually isn't much talk about "how do I root" - it's mostly the developers chatting with each other.
It has been a bit quiet these days as it's no longer one of those "peak dev periods" - the channel was incredibly active when I9100 ICS kernel sources dropped.
There might be a small spike when official AT&T ICS releases, but the thing is that we don't really need anything from that release so other than maybe packing up a return-to-stock package (which I will only do if I can confirm that it doesn't have Superbrick trigger conditions), so I don't think I'll touch it at all.
