The vibration unit on my phone seems to be failing. I'm not going to send it off for repair, unless I have to.
Is it possible to disable ALL the vibration (boot, restart toggle on CHT, etc), perhaps by a registry edit?
The only threads I've found so far seem to be application specific questions, and Google doesn't help either.
Anyone got any ideas, please?

A few times now, I've had the vibrate function get stuck when I receive an email or message. I am able to get it to stop if I open the email/message or navigate to the tab. I have it set to sound a short alert and vibrate. Anyone else have this issue or have an idea what it may be?
Nothing need be running (other than Activesync and possibly file Explorer) to get this issue. Stock Sprint ROM with a few mild registry edits.
I have had the same problem. So far no one has been able to find a solution. For now just take off the vibrate.
Stuck Vibrate
Same here. Mine has done it 2 or 3 times while on the charger. I wonder what whould happen if I were away from the phone. Would it vibrate forever?
Hope the next ROM fixes this. I'm on stock ROM with mild reg edits also.

Sprint TP
I performed a search on here and find lots of posts about how to turn them on but nothing discussing the issue I'm having which is that they keep turning themselves back off. It's driving me insane!!!
I have a Touch Pro with Sprint. I go into settings and enable all notifications to display on the screen for new reminders, email, sms, etc. I've done both soft reset and no soft reset after enabling them and it doesn't seem to matter. After a few days the notifications checkmarks have seemed to uncheck themselves and the pop up notifications stop working. Then I have to go in a re-enable them all. I've gone through this about 10 times in the last two weeks and it's wearing on my last nerve.
Does anyone know what is causing this and more importantly know how to fix it once and for all? Is there something in the registry that keeps making it default back to no popup notifications that I need to change?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Other than this issue I love the phone!
I have noticed 2 things with the new Sprint TP:
1. They work better after a hard reset. More stable and faster.
2. There are some programs I tried out that were written for the diamond (i.e. advance config). They have caused some unwanted side effects, like not keeping settings I had intended (i.e. hardware button tap sounds always turned themselves off etc.).
If you have any of those programs on your TP, one of those might be the culprit.
Either way, I would suggest a hard reset and then (if applicable) installing each program and seeing if it's messing things up.
As follow up, it appears that Advanced Config is the culprit. I uninstalled it, reset all of my notifications to display on screen and finally did a soft reset. Popup notifications are still working strong for almost a week now!
Thanks!
Hi Guys,
Somehow I seem to have turned on a feature which reads out the number of the person sending me a text message. This happens when my phone is on silent too. Which is begining to annoy me, especially when I am at work. Have had a look through settings for SMS but can't see the option to turn it on or disable it. Does anyone know how I can switch it off?
Thanks.

I have not seen any Settings like this in my Mobile for now.If you are sure you changed some settings and than it started reading out numbers use factory default settings it might Help but before doing that wait for some time some other members might know how to stop it.If you have not Received any answer about this than use factory default settings.
The thing is I don't remember changing any settings for this at all. It's not something I wanted to have switched on. I'm reluctant to do a factory reset as I have my phone setup just perfectly at the moment.
Hit the home button twice to get the voice launcher up, turn off "driving mode"
Job done.
Thanks for that. Although I managed to resolve it another way. Went into Settings - voice input and output and de-selected Driving mode.
Your way is a lot quicker though. One for the books.
No worries, took me 48 hours to figure it out for myself the first time.
Hello all. As the title says, even with haptic feedback turned off, it still is active on my phone (notably in messaging and browsing). This started after unlocking and occurs with every ROM I've tried to date. Any thoughts?

The capacitive buttons are giving you haptic feedback even with it shut off from the settings? If it's just vibrating when your typing, make sure that vibrate feedback is shut off from within the keyboard settings. menu>settings>language and keyboard>touch input>text input and then uncheck vibrate when typing.
if you already have that unchecked, I aplogize. I'm not sure what else could be causing it.

the only other solution i can think of is to look into the system settings in /datadata as they might be corrupt.
easier than look at them, thru a text editor for the xml files or sqlite3 for .db files, should be to wipe them. wiping the data settings file should restore the function back to the default mode. this will trigger the data settings file to be recreated. default mode will toggle haptic feedback on. then follow the directions in the previous post to toggle them off. this process should recreate an uncorrupted data settings file which should operate properly.
you did say "every ROM" you've tried has this issue. most roms recommend wiping data inbetween flashing. assuming you have done that, the suggesetion above might not work or have already been done indirectly through the wiping of data and rom flashing process.
if "every ROM" you try continues to not respect the haptic feedback settings, for both the capactive buttons and the keyboard, i would flash it back to stock. if stock ignores your settings, i would take it back to the store. this issue should be very easy to demonstrate to them and they shouldn't have a problem exchanging.
definitely a peculiar issue. sorry there doesn't seem to a better solution. hope all these suggestions help!
Thanks to both of you. It was definitely turned off in the settings... I just cleared everything and reflashed and it went away randomly. Strange. Oh well, thanks for the help!
My Evo LTE seems to have been sound jacked. I don't recall installing any app that would take over sound, and the only updates applied have been prl updates. How can I find what's hijacked my sounds? I can't turn my ringer up past vibrate, and all system sounds are muted. Also, the ringer and notifications sounds are somehow connected. I installed Volume Control+, and when I turn up ringers, notifications goes down and vice versa, but neither one of them stays up - always on vibrate. And no, i'm not rooted. I have never been able to get the HTC bootloader unlock to work.
FYI - media sounds work, as well as alarms.
Help???
Well I don't have a clue what might be wrong with the actual rom. When I have weird problems, I just flash another one... so let's try to address the bootloader problem.
Do you know exactly what is failing? Can you get into fastboot USB? Having trouble copying the token? A little more detail on that would really help. There are just so many things that could be screwing it up, but without knowing what you've tried, it's hard to know what to tell you.
