I wanted everyone to know about this. I was having a problem with receiving flix messages (was getting 10pics instead of an actual video), so after no progress, a different ROM i decided to go back to the stock Verizon ROM. After I did that, my data is basically broken. Every time I put in my password and try to get on the internet it says my password is wrong. I checked and the password is blank, so i put it in again and the same thing happens. Tried flashing a pre-GPS ROM and didn't help. I had Verizon "reset" my Data and that did not help. It seems as though reverting back to the stock radio somehow has blocked me getting data now. So be warned, if you go back to the stock vzw rom, you will loose data and have to get a new phone (sending me one out Monday).
Anyone else have this experience?
You try putting in your 10 digit number and VZW as the password?
yea everything was set perfect everytime. even for the fun of it let the vzw tech at the store try, nada.
Did Verizon tech support try to remove your data package from your account and then put it back on, then push a reset to the local towers in your area... I went back to the stock verizon ROM about a month ago and those are the things they had to do to get it to work, but it did work.....
I called verizon and she removed the data and then pushed a reset to the towers and it still doesnt work (not sure if she did the reset b/c she didnt know what i meant at first). So ill wait for the refurb and see if my new phone will connect. thanks for the help...
It is actually your 10 digit mobile [email protected] with password vzw.
I had to create a new data connection with the correct username and password which fixed my issue. Then I reflashed eveyrthing properly.
well it took one day for me to want to flash back to the gps rom. one question, has anyone had any problems with MMS Video meg on verizon? i was getting a bunch of 10 pics instead of a video.
I've tried a few different custom ROMs on here, and recently most seem to be sufferring from the same issue. It's been happening to me for a couple of months now, I'm not sure if it's a 6.5 bug, or some other software package or whatever. I will say I just recently got a replacement phone for another problem, and it's doing the same thing as my old phone. At my work, we require a 4-digit password and for the phone to lock within an hour for our Exchange server sync.
For whatever reason, when I put custom ROM's on there and sync, within about 3 days at most my device will totally wipe. It wipes the storage card, everything. And it's a real pain in the ass to try to keep my settings for very long. I'm just curious if anyone else is seeing the same issue? I just figure, probably not a lot of people require a password so it doesn't happen to a lot of people. It seems to only affect 6.5 ROMs for whatever reason.
Shameless bump. Sorry, just want to make sure, someone has to have seen this, maybe not though.
I can really only confirm this happens on two ROMs. I don't want to call anyone out because it might be a WM6.5 bug and not a chef's fault.
sheps rom works for me, it is the only rom I have used so i cannot confirm your question about other roms not working. good luck and if i were you try Sheps rom, very fast and stable rom, and it looks good to.

I use exchange at work and have only seen this once, and the problem for me was the security code was input incorrectly more than 7 times and all data was erased even the microsd card. I was quite pissed but thats the only time I've seen it.

It's similar to that, it used to be where I would leave the phone sitting there for a while and come back to it and it would say "if you input your password incorrectly one more time...blah blah". And no matter what i do, it would wipe my device. Now usually i just turn the screen on and the skinned keys don't show up, it's just the old one. Pressing the keys does nothing at all, i usually reset the device, then it wipes on the next reboot.
at one time i thought it was related to either plugging it into the charger or a computer because it would usually do it right after that. I see it happen no matter what now though, i could just have it sitting there and it will do it.

Well obviously one of them is NRG's ROM, I have also seen this in TPC's ROM. Hard to say what's similar between the two...I can't confirm too many others though as I don't usually switch that often, just when the one's I like to use update.
Yep. I've had the very same 'feature' happen to me too. Cannot properly identify what's causing it either.
Cheers
Have you checked with your Exchange Admin... I believe there is a feature that allows them to remote wipe (or at least setup the parameters) devices attached to the server... They may be wiping your device because it shows up as a foreign device... Just stabbing in the dark, it may not be a rom based issue, but an exchange issue... It happens with custom roms, did it happen with the stock rom...?

Good suggestion, although I am the Exchange admin, so no, I'm not wiping my own device.
I have never seen it happen on a stock ROM, although I usually don't have one on for very long. I've never seen it in 6.1 either, just 6.5 ROMs from about late June thru now.
OK, 3 ROM's now, RRE just did it to me. It must be a 6.5 bug or an Exchange server bug.

That would be cool if you could. I have a feeling since it happened on two phones and multiple ROMs that it will happen to anyone. I just feel that no one really requires a password. Just make sure you set a maximum number of attempts before wipe, I have the default of 8 set. Use one of the ROMs I mentioned if you don't already.
im not using exchange and it has happened to me with one of the roms.
the chef didn't really know what do with it or what's causing it, all i know is that it has never happened to me before, and after changing to shep's rom it hadn't happen since.
give shep's rom a try.
I'd think your Exchange server is having issues. There should be logs to see if a remote wipe was ever performed on your device. Are you sure your kids or annoying friends didn't try to unlock your phone a few times which may have caused the remote wipe?
This just happened to me on Sunday, running my own-cooked 23033 ROM (and about a week earlier as well)
I hadn't even tried inputting a password - my phone had been locked, and when I looked at it, I got the message about having one more chance to enter the password (which it wouldn't let me do - the phone was completely locked up). Since this had happened to me before (I had JUST finished putting most of the stuff back on my 16GB microSDHC card), I quickly removed the card, put in the correct password, and watched my phone hard reset.
So no, you're not crazy. It may be related to Exchange, but I doubt it. I think it's more related to Pin Lock, because after 5 unsuccessful attempts to unlock a device (whether it's synched with Exchange or not I believe), the phone is supposed to hard reset to protect your personal data. There must be a glitch with Pin Lock in some of the 6.5 builds that causes this on occasion. I'm not sure what it is, though.
Did a bit of research ...
Apparently, a trusted application can initiate an erase-and-format operation by calling a LoadLibrary function in Fatutil.dll. There a registry key that controls full device erasure is:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\<MyProfileName>\FATFS]
"SecureWipe"=dword:1
Also, there is this key which controls LocalWipe and RemoteWipe based on the Password Required Policy (4131) setting.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\DeviceWipeThreshold]
"4146"=1 through 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF)
4146 = SECPOLICY_LASS_DESKTOP_QUICK_CONNECT
Apparently, setting "4146" to zero (0) or 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF) disables the feature.
This is really going to suck if it turns out that some ROM packages now include LocalWipe/RemoteWipe as some form of anti cross-porting device protection.

Well that's good, i was starting to feel crazy. Exact same symptoms though, phone is just sitting there, locked, and when i turn the screen off I get that message. Most of the time the screen appears to be locked at this point, i'll try a reset and it boots, wipes instantly, reboots and runs through hard reset. I am preparing to install a few Exchange updates, so we'll see if that corrects it. I did check and our last major update was in April, and this started happening in late June, so I don't think it's Exchange either.

Thanks for that! If someone could be so kind as to whip that into a cab file, that would be great. Might at least give a temporary fix for this until it's figured out. I keep re-flashing new ROM's and hoping it'll go away one of these times.
I would bet that the suggestion of remote wiping is the best track to follow. Perhaps the "Managed Programs" feature is somehow automatically set in your exchange environment and creating the problem? Although I do not know what I am talking about, just guessing. Seems like a security issue with your exchange/phone set-up. Try replicating the issue with the radio off. At least then you will know if it is an Over The Air Issue or something set on the phone itself.
Sounds like a real pain. Good luck sorting it out.
Doug M.
Before putting together any form of .CAB, it would be worthwhile for those experiencing the problem to provide the following feedback:
Is it only occurring on devices receiving policies from an Exchange Server
Are the registry entries I noted above present and what are their values
Is the issue specific to certain ROM builds
Is there perhaps a common set of packages in use
Cheers,

This issue was reported with my 23034 ROM by a user who syncs with Exchange. I do not sync with Exchange, and my unmodified ROM does not contain the DeviceWipeThreshold key.
There's a thread started by a poster named zimo in the General forum that describes the same issue-I'd link to it except I'm on my fuze. It's several months old, and was just bumped.
Interesting problem that I suddenly have after installing rom. First I have been installing just about every rom has come for the last 6 months. Today I installed latest Carbon ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310695 today and it installed ok, but upon booting for the first time, it got stuck the setup right at the beginning where I press the language (English). It just sat there and didn't do anything. I tried reinstalled the rom, and it did the same thing.
So I assumed a had a bad download, so I went to restore my daily driver backup rom (Zone sense 4 rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116509). But now I have no mobile data or mobile connection at all. I get a triangle next to the bars and whenever I restart phone I get this message "Global data roman access is allowed. Significantly higher charges may apply". I have never seen that before.
I have tried removing sim, toggling all mobile network options (CDMA, global, roaming, etc.) and I still get no connection at all. Any ideas here? I am on Verizon.

Its apparently random. I've had it happen twice, once back non CM10 when it just got RIL going, and a build ago on Carbon.
I'm going through this right now. I rru'd and can connect to 3g and use the data but no texts and when I try to make a call I end up with a Verizon message saying my number is inactive. Everything works fine on my backup phone. So its not a problem with Verizon
Edit... I'm going to ruu again and factory reset before booting because I think I remember seeing that posted at some point

anyone know the Verizon apn's i only have verizon internet in my apn list.
Edit 3 All fixed. i was factory resetting in stock recovery to no avail but a factory reset in sense itself worked
The Sprint version of the G3 came out of the box with the ZV4 firmware, which is supposed to include the WiFi Calling app and toggle switch in Settings and Quick Settings, but of course there were a few quirks and some of us were left without this feature. No matter how many times you tried to update firmware or factory reset the phone, that app just would not appear.
Turns out after seeing this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/help/wi-fi-calling-t2827818), I was not the only person having this weird problem. Other issues that went along with this were having the stock LG boot logo and sound for startups and shutdowns instead of the Sprint Spark splash page, plus a missing Sprint Zone icon in the app drawer. During initial provisioning, it's like the phone skipped a step and did about 99% of what it was supposed to do, even installing all the preloaded Sprint bloatware.
Well, the fix is simple but I can't take credit for it. This post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54442210&postcount=28) in the other thread by bitbyter57 led me on the right path. Looks like a few users even returned their devices for new ones, but this is not necessary at all.
All that needs to be done is contact Sprint to get your MSL number via chat or just tell them you are having issues and would like to do the ##RTN# factory reset. Once you are in this menu, go to the "reset" option and input the MSL and confirm the reset. The G3 will reboot a few times and lead you through a full provisioning and setup, and all the missing features will now work.
Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for showing a way for how to get the MSL. I have been looking all day with no success until I found your post. I now have WiFi calling back along with the boot/shutdown logo. Thanks again.
Doh Rereally?
Thank you for this information.
Do you think with the lollipop update that the wifi calling witll be fixed?
I spent a good amount of time setting my phone up the way I like it. I guess i could reset it, ...is the wifi calling worth it?
Just curious, I had the same problems...no boot etc....I got my G3 about 3 weeks ago.
thanks any help would be appreciated

It's hard to know if Lollipop will fix this bug, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Honestly, if you don't need WiFi Calling because you have a good cell signal everywhere, I wouldn't reset everything and start over. I did mine because I didn't have anything set up yet, so it was easy to just get the process over with in case I ever need WiFi Calling. I did try the feature and it works well, but since then I just leave it turned off.
Thanks a lot : ) worked like a charm
i had to call sprint 3 times before they gave me the msl code, i was suggested 2 other ways of "activating" my device, just be persistent and nice if they dont give it to you right away
Thanks for this fix! @engine95 pointed out this same fix, and now WiFi calling is working great. I work in the lower level of a 5-story building, and my battery would drain by 50% by the end of the day while my radio struggled to find a signal. Now my wife can bug me at work without me having to run upstairs on my breaks! :good:

Try ##72786# first.
If that doesn't work, ##RTN#. but you'll need your MSL for that one.

Is there any other way? Could it be added to a custom rom to flash? I'm worried about loosing the ability to root and this wouldn't be worth that. I had sprint try to set it up for me and they activated it on my account. Did the ##72786 thing now I have the apk file on the phone but it won't install. There are a couple other wifi calling apk files that are there as well. Can you flash an apk file to force it to install?

Wifi calling is in every stock Rom we have. I don't know why it doesn't activate on it own. I've LGFlashtooled a few times and every single time I have had to ##RTN# to get it back.
After that, ever stock Rom has had it working for me when I flashed it.
If you've never activated it, it won't install on any stock Rom either. Unless you ##SCRTN#, which hasn't worked for me, or ##RTN# the flashed ROM.
I wished I could do something about it, but I can't.

Ok, so if I did the ##rtn# and my phone was zv4 to begin with does it revert to zv4 cause I flashed zv6 odex already? Then I can get wifi calling set up and use stump root, install TWRP and restore my backup? I guess I am not sure what those commands will do to the phone. This is crazy, almost too much hassle., kinda ticked off it didn't come ready on the phone.

You're thinking into it to much. Lol
If you already flashed ZV6 from this forum, then you already have root/unlock.
If you don't have wifi calling, then just ##RTN#. But you need your MSL to do it. When you do that it'll reset everything and you'll start from scratch. So you should try ##SCRTN# first and see if that works.
If you update OTA to zv6, then you can not root it. And you'll have to revert back to ZV4.
Edit. Make sure to back up your EFS first!

I tried ##scrtn# a few times and it didn't work. The Sprint rep walked me through it the first time and I played with it a couple more times hoping it would work, but no luck.. I'm rooted zv6 now and backed up my EFS using TWRP. I didn't take the OTA update, I got the zv6 ODEX version in your other post.
So, If I get my MSL and do ##rtn# I worry about that start from scratch thing. Does that mean the phone will be like it was the day I picked it up, before I stump rooted and twrp'ed? Or does it mean it will be like I just flashed your ZV6 rom and had to re-set up the phone the way I like it but I didn't need to re-root or install twrp.. I'm sure I'm thinking way too hard when it's probably really not that difficult, my apologies for being thick headed. :silly: could be cause it's late. Anyway, I'm on duty tomorrow, if we are slow I might get to work on this. Later

Anyway, I'm on duty tomorrow, if we are slow I might get to work on this. Later

Do this to backup/restore EFS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56058409&postcount=1
You can follow this to get your MSL. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54912206&postcount=4 Or call Sprint but they might hassle you.
When you do the reset, you will keep root/unlock. You'll just have to set everything back up. I think, and I might be remembering wrong, but once you have Wifi calling enabled, I think you can restore from a backup and retain Wifi Calling.
If that's was wrong, you'll have wifi callng on the other Roms until you use Flashtool.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Worst case scenario:
Flash any ZV6 Rom
Get through the preliminary setup, then do ##RTN#. It'll reset everything
Good to go.
You can still flash any other Rom, and you'll have Wifi Calling.

Thanks bro, will give this a shot once I get that MSL.
I'll start with the preliminary "If this is the wrong place please let me know and I will relocate" prefix.
The issue is pretty easy to explain, After rooting my phone and removing what I thought was bloatware the wifi and data no longer wants to work/services aren't turning on (began after restart not immediately following the root or software removal)
I should have made a backup prior to rooting but I was feeling lazy and it's an older unit, worse case scenario I'll replace it so that wasn't a huge issue at the time (hindsight is 20:20 and I'd rather not replace it right now)
I have a samsung sch-i200 running 04.01.02. I decided for various reasons that I should root the phone as I have with a few others in the past. So I did my research, found a comfortable software, and rooted the phone. Everything worked fine at first root went though perfectly and all the features I was looking for ended spot on. Then I went through and removed some of the bloatware from the phone and things started to get tricky. I am guessing that I misjudged like an idiot the purpose of one of these applications and messed up something I shouldn't have.
The applications I removed were named:
backup+ media
my verizon mobile
sync service
verizon guide tours
verizon login
verizon remote diag
voicemail
verizon tones
vz navigator
I don't use Verizon as a carrier so I was assuming (again, like an idiot I believe) that one of those services was either not part of the bloatware they added, or I misjudged the necessity of said bloatware. The other possibility is that the root I went through DID fail to complete properly, although I am not really convinced yet of that as the phone had been restarted several times after the root with no issues. Currently the phone is still able to call and text fine but I haven't been able to get the wifi to turn on or data to activate.
To keep this from getting too long winded I won't go much further in detail, I'm somewhat tech savvy but not an expert by any means and have exhausted my knowledge on searching via google and other forum sources I could find. At this point I would love to just get a copy of the stock ROM for the phone so I could just revert it back to factory but that seems to be something of a unicorn on the internet at this time.
I should state that I have attempted the basic troubleshooting, power cycle, airplane mode toggle, safe mode, settings reset via the boot menu options (full wipe and restore), I've also made some attempt to try and find a way to reinstall the bloatware I removed but can't seem to find it.
I generally hate posting on forums about these things because you can normally find an answer if you search but i'm on about 6 hours of forum crawling and am either blind or unable to find it, so I plea now for assistance.
Any help will be appreciated.
