Im looking for a good rom, where everythings works with no issues. I have tried several but there is always something that doesnt work.
looking for internet tether, OC control and want to make sure bluetooth works.
all the roms i have tried so far are awesome, but there is always one important factor that wont work....i would rather go back to stock and have everything work, rather a rom where something doesnt work? does that make sense?
I've been using XTRsense rom for a month now. I had no problems at all with it and im pretty sure everything works on it atleast from everything ive used. Its also very fast and reliable. The dialer lag is also almost gone which is great cuz i hated that lol
thanks, i will look into that. have you tried bluetooth?

thats was not funny....ok it was. one thing is i dont want to lose the sense.
I Like both Cyanogen Tazz (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733897)and KoasFroyo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685594) as far as froyo ROMs. Cyan
I haven't used a 2.1 ROM in over 1 month but, Aloysius (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663893) was amazing.
I use ivans 1.0 and kaosfroyo 31.

i'm a noob to rooting..but did a root last night..and put kaosyo and i really didnt like the look of it...most of it was in chinese..and i wasnt allowed to connect to anything..i later ....through the help of someone i had to download something else to connect to google and other things..
i like the look of the eris..dont mind rooting..but especially want something that runs faster and smoother..anyone recommend anything like this?..i want to overclock it...but being a noob to this..i get confused in the root rom overclock flash conversation..i've been reading a lot of boards and a lot of google searches...till my head starts to spin...
thank you (and sorry if i go against board rules etc)
I suggest EvilEris. It's 2.1 and sense based, so it's not too much different from what you're used to.
as for overclocking, buy SetCPU from the app market(I suggest buying instead of other means because these guys did good work and deserve compensation for it). The only things you really need to know is to make two specific profiles: One for charging/full that goes to about 710MHz(there's a slide bar in it to make this easier) and one that turns on when the screen is off(this can be picked from a drop down box in the profile maker) that has a max speed of like 245MHZ. This will help optimize your battery life. It's a fairly easy app to use also, so you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.
thank you!..i was looking at evil eris..dont like the red..but its one that a lot of people spoke highly of...
i read about that app...will have to buy it..thanks for the help!
now if i can just figure out how to root again..lol...not sure if all that i did yesterday i will have to do the same...but they usually have installing instructions
For rooting your Eris, look at this thread. Works perfectly.

If you don't like the red from evil eris then I suggest senseable 3.1. Also sense based and very well spoken of also. Currently what I use and is my favorite.
As stated before setcpu is good for overclocking. You can download for free from these forums (search for it). And as always if you like it, its always nice to donate by buying the app from the market

That's just the wallpaper he uses. It starts with the default one. The only major colour changes is that he uses blue instead of green on the battery.

If you already rooted, you don't need to do it again. When changing ROMs, all you need to do is wipe factory reset, and cache, and nand backup, and then flash your new ROM (zip file).
Look up adb commands for help.

Yeah I agree with the camera thing. Camera magic isn't nearly as good as the stock camera app.
Plus for some reason froyo roms drain my battery like is going out of style. I'm talking I had a full charge, had data wifi bluetooth etc. off. No setcpu either. I had also calibrated the battery. Twenty minutes later after not even turning the screen on it was down almost 10%. And its only on froyo roms. I don't get it.

It's probably because Froyo roms are OC'ed to 710 already. You need setcpu and create profiles to minimize battery drain.

I had profiles set. Didn't help any. I put the same profiles on senseable (oc'd to 710) and battery life is much better. I was doing some wireless tethering today for over an hour and had less drain than doing nothing with froyo.

I tried to just flash the zip(in recovery mode).. that I had, and it didnt install.
WiFi doesn't work with any custom kernels. I tried Dragon, DoW, and Dead Horse flashed over Bionix v 1.2.1, and none of them have WiFi, even after a restart. Re-flashing any official kernel works just fine. Since I don't have data, this kinda neuters my phone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Aw. In that case, the custom kernels probably aren't worth losing Bionix.

Does your wifi work on stock? If not you might wanna look into some of those radio mods, perhaps similar to the gps antennae issue with poor contact...not sure if they share the same issue though.

Yes, the reason I suggested trying a different rom wasn't so much to give up on bionix, but more to narrow down your issue. This is a unique isue to you, pretty much, so unfortunately you're going to have to do you own troubleshooting.
You can also try reflashing Bionix, which wil likely also fix the issue. More than likely it's something that happened since you flashed your rom that has caused the issue.
Once you reflash, boot up and wait 10 min, then flash the kernel you want. Then make sure your wifi works. If it does, proceed to add back all your apps, etc, but continually make sure your wifi is still working. That's about al I can tell you.
I tried reflashing Bionix 1.2.1 with its default kernel (KB1), and WiFi worked fine. I then later tried Dragon, and it didn't work. If I get the chance I'll try a different ROM. Any suggestions as to a good alternate?
Hm. Flashed DoW and it magically worked. That was odd. Thanks all!
So I've been holding out on CM7 because I've been very happy with Bionix 1.3.1..phone has been perfect, but I'm looking for something new...I know how to use Odin no problem, but I like to avoid it because CWM is safer...what I'm asking is some opinions on CM7 and compared to Bionix, would I be underwhelmed with CM7? Keep in mind, I use GPS probably once or twice weekly.
What are your thoughts on these two ROMs? Should I hold off on CM7?

CM7 is remarkably stable. For me, the only bug has been the phone rebooting if its charging, but other than that my GPS works and all. Data wifi calling everything. Heck, can't even tell im on an beta rom.

Sorry friend, cm7 is not for you as of this time. The main issues I have seen people talk about are: NO gps, no WiFi calling and low battery life ( I've personally get 12-14 hours max). Other then that I'm a happy camper .
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
if you use gps don't bother cause it doesn't work. otherwise battery life has been fixed. external sd mounting hasn't been fixed. also, if you want swype you need to get on the beta through swype and you have to reinstall it every time you update to a new cm version (don't know if titanium will fix this yet) everything else is great (on the 02/25/11 update calls were fine, but the 03/04/11 update people have said i sound weird but a mute/unmute fixes it).
i won't go back from cm7 to anything that isn't 2.3.x.

Two things I've noticed right off the bat.
1. My wifi keeps dropping every once in a while(had a similar problem with another rom using a 2.3.6 leak)
2. Home button has a little lag.
edit: Searched Android 2.3.6 wifi problems and I got a ton of results with people saying the same thing.
edit: flashing to something else for now. Sorry OP. Everything else looked pretty good too.

Just wanted to try something different. Oh well.
I flashed the slim gdux 2.0 coming from the newest hyperdrive.
Everything is great except one bug that is killing me. I can not use a hyperlink without the internet crashing on me every time. Im of course NC5, done flashed all the bells and whistles, just don't know what now. Is there a simple fix? I like this rom so far and would like to keep using it, but not if the internet is worthless. Any help is appreciated...

Yes. Think i tried everything in my arsenal. Finally had enough and went back to hyperdrive until i can do more research.
