Does anybody know what is Ieamingclient that always run at forground on x10 I have process manager task killer no matter how many times I kill it . It comes back .is it something important? If not so I could uninstall it with titanium backup. And what takes more memory foreground or background?
Try freezing it with titanium I usually do that before deleting, just to make sure it doesn't get wonky after deleting it. But I get that to with learning client as well never froze it I assumed it was important in some easy since it kept coming back assurer killing it.

I have some apps that I don't want to remove from my Streak but I don't want them to start up on their own. Examples are Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Mail. There are others, too. I keep them on the Streak as backups (since I sometimes have problems connecting via IM+ or the regular e-mail app). Therefore I only want them to start up when I open them and stay closed after I have killed them. Is that possible?
I currently use Droid Wall to deny them data access when I don't want to use them but they still run in the background eating up memory and sucking the life out of my battery.
Dont know of anything other than a task killer. Can set the security to your desired level, and also to kill everything when the screen turns off, and also generate an ignore list which is essential for some apps like alarm clock....if you want to get up for work on time. They're a little controversial but I find a notable difference in battery life without it.

I have a task killer which I use manually. However, when I kill those apps they come right back up only seconds after that. Can't keep those buggers down. And with Auto Kill they are just constantly being killed again and again.
i used to use an app called "autostart(s)" which did the job really well plus it offers loads of options for apps starting at boot and permissions. titanium lets you freeze apps but you need to defrost them before using again.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I am currently trying out Autostart Kill which seems to work reasonably well, except that some apps are not found by the program (an example is Amazon MP3) and Dell Sync comes up after connecting via USB even though I set it to disabled.
By Titanium I suppose you mean Titanium Backup, but I cannot find a "freeze" (or similar) option, at least not in the free version I am using
Click the app in the list - you will have there freeze option.
It is available in the paid version only
Thanks for all the help, guys.
Finally located that Autostarts app in the market --- had to set market enabler to Verizon to find it. Trying it right now, and it seems to work pretty well.
I hope they're working for you?

Yes, but yesterday I had 3 mysterious auto reboots. Since I had just installed several apps I am not sure which one is the culprit. I have removed some of the others. Now I will have to see what happens today.
i tried autostarts but when the streak goes standby (black screen) it wont come alive anymore and i have to pull the battery out to reboot.... uninstalled

Thank you! Autostarts is what I want~
Try system tuner
System tuner has free version in market. Will perform many functions including "freeze" and then you can "boil" app when it is needed. Also can set which apps run (or don't) at startup.
hey bro, u can use any autostart killer like autostarts (red car), or u can use autostart disabler inside romtoolbox
it work 100%
Dear Friends!
Glad to be here today (after 2 days! )
My dear Streaker is here!!
As the norm is, I have been busy tinkering with the stock material for couple o days, and I will continue to do so for some more time!

Query: There are too many apps running (background) all the time!! I kill them, they resurrect!, How to do away with that?
Solution applied: Used Advanced task killer (but, apps resurrect!)
Another Solution tried: In Settings>Account & Sync settings> Unchecked Background data and Auto sync options. (Now, they dont connect to the net, but, they still restart!!)
Another Solution: Force close (from Manage apps) .. (Still same issue!)
Now, How can I tell the apps to come up only when I call them!?
(And some other apps I want to schedule them to come up every hour or so.. like my Gmail/FB)

Thank you all for your help!

Welcome to the cool kids club! I'm in a somewhat similar situation, I got my streak just before the massive snowstorm hit. Some of those apps need to be running... if you close some of them you may not get updates/notifications, or you can shut down your phone/data connection, or lose the use of multitouch.

from what i understand, froyo is really good with resource management and there is no need to constantly kill processes or apps, its best to just leave them unless your streak is slow like a snail

Lose multi touch!
How?
@rptw
So, It wouldnt really matter if there are apps running in the BG, and they start by themselves too!?
care,
Sony.
well in terms of the laws of nature (in most cases) stuff doesnt happen spontaneously so i think its safe to assume that your app that "started by themselves" were probably opened somehow either by you directly or indirectly by something else. if, however, you have a large number of apps that have started that you dont recall opening, maybe something is wrong with your software and you shouldnt try to cover the problem with a task killer.
So, what next!?

So, Now, can you or other guys here please suggest how to go to the "root" of this problem!?
Ok.
Look, these apps are open right now!
Voice Search
Email
Messaging
Maps
Astro
Assistant free
I use the Adv Task Killer free.
(It says 7 apps killed and 180 MB free)
I open Adv task killer after 5 seconds.
and these apps are running!
Email
astro
Voice Search
Assistant Free
and I am sure, If I wait for some more time, the other apps will join in too!
(Now it says, 3 Apps killed, 171 MB free!!)
care,
Sony.
have you tried using the stock app manager and killing the apps there? i just checked my phone and i have the same apps under the running tab using the stock manager, i think email and messaging are always running since you have push features on them, in terms of the others im not sure. whats so bad about email and messaging running anyways? im sure you use them often enough to not want to have to open and close them right?
Hey, you posted the same question over at Pocketables forum.
As stated earlier, 2.2 is really good at managing back ground tasks.
I can tell you if you use a task killer and you have a problem with an APP, which currently you do not, the programmer for the app probably will not help you till you remove the APP killer program.
What you might try to do is run though your menus and see what you have selected to run, such as locations and sync services and disable what you can. Also if you do not want some thing running, you may want to just uninstall it. I do understand that you want some programs but you only want them to run when you ask, not sure how to tell you to handle that.
But, are you seeing any difference when you have the background tasks disabled. Try to find the APK for the programs and rename them just to see if you have any issues.
Hi guys.
Sorry if this post is going to annoy some devs.
Lately I've frozen some annoying Samsung apps and services from my phone with the aid of titanium backup.
However, after freezing and a restart, I always want to confirm by going into SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS.
In there when I scroll down, I see the disabled apps but then when I open them, they still have an option for "FORCE CLOSE"
The question now is does this mean that they are still running in the background in some sort of way or something else.
I seem to be confused thinking freezing them will not only make their icons dissapear but stop them from ever running.
Thanks.

freezing will have disabled them, it's just Samsung not recognizing that, might be worth letting the titanium team know about this
Just out of curiosity, what's the worst thing that can happen if I kill Titanium Backup while its uninstalling an application?
Because I did this on accident using the back arrow longpress kill app tweak, and it killed Titanium backup while it was uninstalling an app of mine, the app was removed, its not in the system at all anymore, I tried to reinstall it then uninstall it again just encase (not sure if that will do anything) but just curiosity, whats the worst that could happen?
Worst is probably the app still shows up but no longer functions, or the app no longer shows up and some data is left behind using a tiny bit of storage space. I would assume either is easily remedied by doing another uninstall (if the app is still showing) or doing a reinstall and then another uninstall.

I wonder if there is a way to prevent some background processes/apps from running instead of constantly killing them? I don't think about using taks killers as they do the same what I can and they also eat memory. I need them apps to run only when I start them. Then I can manually shut them off like I always do, but I don't want them in the backgound processes. For example, even after resetting the phone, I dont use Google Maps at all, but I can see three processes running in background for no reason. And there is more apps behaving in a same way. Of course I don't wanna delete them, because I use them sometimes, some more often, some less.
Any solutions?

Wrong Section btw (This needs to be in Q&A Section)
And freeze them using Titanium Backup or if you don't use them, uninstall it
If I freeze them will I be able to run them intentionally?

No. You have to defreeze them in order to use tgem
If you are talking about system apps, only way to stop their process I know is to uninstall or freeze them
If talking about non-system app, then simply killing them once will stop their process
I'm talking about system apps of course...

Use Disable Service to disable background services and BE CAREFULL not to disable wrong services. Or programs may not respond to your wishes...
v6 supercharge..
u can try v6 supercharge script..........
grap the script here :-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
What's it do?
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
otherwise freezing apps & uninstalling them is left for u...
download the app 'autorun manager' frome market..
disable the apps that you don't want them to run in background...
it is best tool available for this problem..it is realy a great app..
but use it with care...if u disable wrong system app then u might see some force closes..
