Hey guys. I've noticed some people are using custom docks with only like 2 items. Say, a link to the app drawer on the far left and the right side has the word "phone." This is just an example. I know how to install a custom dock background in launcher pro but I am wondering how you guys are making this work, as I know that at least some of these docks have the icons/words already on them. (such as in UltraLinx's dock gallery)
Are you just using a blank/transparent image as the icon or is there another way to do it?
Thanks!
Drew

is there anyone who is already working on, is interested in working on, or might work on a mod for touch wiz that would give us launcher pro-like vertical scrolling through applications?
Most of touchwiz I am fine with, the little visual enhancements in a lot of areas work, sure the quick launch icons at the bottom could be better like launcher pro, but the biggest problem I have with it is having to scroll left and right like the iPhone, i'm sure it must get on a lot of people's nerves too. I end up using the alphabetical list for the most part but, that's no real solution.
So, is there any one who is or would work on a mod to give us vertical icon scrolling?
So why not use launcher pro?

I have a custom dock but when I select it just loads on top of the existing dock and it just creates an ugly overlapped dock.
Seems like there should be a really easy fix to this.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
I use launch pro but don't use a custom dock but I do know any changes require you too reboot launcher pro...have you to rebooting lp? Just want to cover the bases.
If that didn't work I would try going to manage applications...click on lp and hit clear data...don't know if it will help but its worth a shot

For those asking the same question, I found the answer and it's pretty simple.
Download go launcher ex and use custom dock background. if you have a blank dock as your image then use images, if you are using a dock with apps on it already long hold and change the custom image to a blank image to avoid overlapping.
blank.png is attached.
Hello
I'm using LauncherPro and just yesterday I stumbled on this post on xda.
Now, I don't care about the wallpaper, but I really like those buttons. So first I did try to find the icon pack (it is called "Manup's Simple Word Icons 116SET") and then tried to make some of the icons myself, but each time I noticed that the words just aren't readable on the screen (too small!).
So I was wondering, does anybody use such a theme and is willing to shear it, or does somebody has a solution for this? Or is our resolution really that bad?
Thank you in advance!
Hey, I tried using this app too once and had the same problem, I'm not very clued up on Photoshop so never tried to solve it that way......
Instead I used another app custom launcher icons, which gave me the text icons that we're readable. There wasn't much customization in it though so got bored quickly, I think the icons in that picture are actually blank icons placed over a custom dock background which has the text on it.
I've done it that way before a while ago, let me have a search for the theme which came with blank icons n ill get back to you.
EDIT: The theme I used for the blank icons was called sense adw theme by androidfeens.
You can use the blank icons from that then find a custom dock with the text on.

No I tell a lie he did actually use that app to make the text icons and then placed them on top of a custom dock. Must be our resolution that sucks with the app, oh well glad you reminded me about this just made my own custom dock again.

Interesting approach, but the only restriction is that this way of working limits the amount of docks to just one, as the dock-background is the same for every dock..
Yeh that is a problem for multi dock users, doesn't affect me as I only use one, for the basic phone functions.

Same when I used it u i forget I have them, and found it easier to just use shortcuts

A bit late, but I've found an app that creates readable word icons! It is called 'Simple text - text icon creator', is made by 'redphx' and can be found in the market for free. For a screenshot, check attachment.

I guess since JB came out TW Launcher edits are more difficult. Found a few threads where people were trying to do something similar but couldn't figure it out. It's possible to edit the grid layout, removing the dock label, and whether or not you want wallpaper scrolling, but couldn't find much on the other stuff. Probably would need a lot of smali code editing.
Very curious: why so adamant about sticking with TW? It's really not that special and besides the TW widgets, it's easy to replicate and typically be better at all the other stuff. It's not like it's more smooth or has many (any?) really special features than one of a dozen other good replacements don't have...

Isnt there a way to move the app drawer icon from right to left or anywhere you want it to be?
Hi everyone
I like everything about s9 and s10 except horizontal app drawer.I would much prefer vertical and not paginated (or paginized) app drawer, so that i can just scroll through apps like in most other phones.
Can this be achieved with a custom ROM or add on? if so - which one?
Thanks for your advice!
The best way to achieve this without rooting is to install a new launcher. The most popular one is Nova Launcher . It lets you choose between horizontal and vertical scrolling and is very customizable in other ways as well. Since you would no longer be using OneUi, IMHO, you lose some functionality of the features samsung puts in the phone doing this however some would see this as a good thing.
Hello,
Thanks for suggestion. Yes I am aware about custom launchers - and i am considering this solution. I was wondering if it is possible to change One UI to vertical drawer before going down that road.
thanks
