Q. Tv out in cm6? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was jst wondering if you guys think it will be possible to still use the tv out feature in the galaxy s when cm6 does come around... as of right now the tv out support for this phone is one of my favorites and i use it everyday for many things and it would just suck to lose that support when we get aosp into this phone...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Possibly most likely. But I could be wrong
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

The goal of any CM6 port is to have all of the available hardware features working well. TV Out, however, will probably be one of the last things developed (Depending on drivers and whatnot)

[Q] bluetooth remotes (wii and PS3)

I know the wii remote works, looking for something with more buttons for psx and n64 emulating. Used the search button for hours, and heard people getting it to work, but no cold hard evidence.
I am willing to shell out some cash on this one for once. Either that or i'll be investing in a PSP for portable emulation.
Pretty sure ps3 controller isn't possible yet. But if you're looking for more buttons, just use the classic wii controller. Or the pro version or whatever. Not the most portable option. But definitely gives you more buttons.

What rom(s) does the wiimote work with? Havent done much with gaming on the phone but I thought I read it didnt work.... (happy to know that isnt true)
It works on miui for sure. And quite possibly jts aosp

Definitely not true. The fascinate doesn't have any sense roms. What is required is HID support. Which for the fascinate, only miui and maybe aosp and cm7 alpha. I have only tested on miui. But I know no current SC or darkrevenge can use it.

Damn so my options are either have a phone with some sweet retro gaming, or have working mms and camcorder? Situations like these are why I keep telling my wife I need two phones...

Haha yeah man .. its a bummer.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yeah there was a thread about this a while ago. Only aosp based roms have HID support. So basically we have to wait for source if u want to use one of those roms and have everything working.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
why cant such support be ported to a tw rom? cant things like this be just a issue of transferring drivers.. i know its prob more difficult than that, but i just want to understand it better.
HID bluetooth profile for fascinate???
So I just happened to have a similar issue. I really wouldn't have opened the wound but this was last hit on about 8 months ago. Now my fascinate has the gingerbread update... the 2.3.5 update if you will. As anticipation has failed us, they did , again, fail to include a bluetooth profile that supports HID devices.
I have read about CM's mod cm7.1 supporting this profile, but my situation is a little bit more unique.
I just purchased the Brookstone roll up keyboard (bluetooth) and can recognize it but obviously won't pair or connect. I have tried a number of apps that claim to give you smoother function and better bluetooth support, but as with any good app, Google has stripped it of it's gems.
as mentioned I have only read briefly that cm7.1 is a rom able to make this happen.
My question now is, after 8 months, has anyone found a solution to the HID bluetooth profile issue, and if it requires rooting, how do you do this ... using ubuntu...
... be gentle (I just watched the noob video)
Sch-1500 2.3.5 Stock I need this for portability

Android on Xbox And Wii

So I wanted to see peoples reaction to porting android to a Xbox or wii ? I have been contemplating putting some time and money into porting a rom for the wii I think it would be really crazy! I managed to get the android live disc running on my modded Xbox but no controls yet. Would anyone be interested in a rom for the wii if I get it working? Let me now!

The Wii would be helped by the fact that it has a massive Linux porting community. Check out Whiite Linux. Sadly, they barely have X Window running on most implementations.
On that matter, most of the android functionality is already there, it's a matter of looking pretty. Short Of Angry Birds, they've beat you to it in a lot of ways. They've got apps and even an appstore called the Homebrew Browser. Everything is very slow, but what can you expect from it? Yes, most of the good stuff is running by putting Devkit Pro on top of a weak linux, so some improvement could be had. It's not android, but it does the same things.
So far as the 360 goes, if you could put an indie game out with an intentional bug that lets you run Androidx86 off a thumb drive, you could use the Kinect to emulate touch screen. USB keyboard is available to fill in the rest.

It'd be great, but considering that the Wii is running on 2001 State Of The Art, I doubt it will be able to handle much without the official devkit (Which is illegal unless you are a major label dev). Also, everything has to be put into a binary to load, so even Whiite is being done a convoluted way. I have a bit of knowledge of running homebrew on Wii, so I can get you any info or testing you need.
Start with Froyo. Honeycomb won't happen. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich, but not Honeycomb, for this type of project, you'll NEED kernel source.
I'd be willing to test on Wii or 360. Sounds awesome.
Wow! Right up my street. My two favs mashed together. So INTERESTED! I'm new to the 'DEV', but addicted, and learning at lightspeed. Xboxs ready and waiting 2 serve! Xbox nandroid would revolutionize the world. It would be one of the most popular PCs ever, not to mention cheap.

Found A Way
Okay, so i was doing some searching and i found something called android-x86
(wwwDOTandroid-x86DOTorg) and they have full source code for a x86/PPC version of android, gingerbread currently. which is good because of the wii which has a PPC prossesor. If you do some editing im sure someone can make android for wii.
I'd be willing to test either system android TV would be cool if we could figure that out .. wii or 360 would be excellent to have android os on it I'm thinking wii would be easy for everyone to use since its so easy to mod and the hbc delivers downloads for everyone

I hate to be cynical here, but the Wii only has 88mb of ram. I dont know if thats enough to run Android. Not to mention that Android was written for the ARM platform and the Wii is PPC.

[Q] My new Samsung galaxy S2 SGH-I777

Hello all
First of all im not good english because my main language is italian anyway:
Im new i receiv this phone for a fews weeks ago my father gave me as gift from china.
Im using cyanogen mod 7 and i have kernel like 2.6.35.7-gedb93be [email protected] #1
The question is this: How i can update firmware automatic without doing so complicate and easy way to do??
I heard most people use SGH-I9100 and update with program Samsung Kies easy.
Well for this SGH-I777 cannot use kies and doesnt work either.
Any suggestion? Maybe a nice alternative for update in future?
Hope this information help a bit
Thank for support!
Alan
I'm pretty sure that's only possible if you have rom manager pro ...sort of , I'm pretty sure if you want to update you have to download and flash the update
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Kies + cm7 would never work anyway. Cm7 is an aosp rom and kies only works with Samsung builds.
Sent from my HTC PH39100
If you are trying to update CM7 to newer builds you can use rom manager paid app and have access to it. OR you can also download the newer CM7 updates from here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2att
If you are wanting to upgrade the stock samsung firmware then you will need to go back to stock samsung rom for kies to work I think.

Thanks for all guys i paid premium rom manager and there seems all ok!
Remain only a problem about NFC when i go setting wireless + NFC its show me grey out why? doesnt work?
NFC is not enabled yet on the AT&T version of this phone. Some developers have made progress in getting the phone to recognize the NFC chip, but no one has been able to enable full functionality of NFC.
Oh so i have to wait for next update version cyanogen mod for fix this problem? I hope so because need a lot nfc :s! thanks for quick reply u guys are great
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Right now, NFC working in CM7 is still quite a ways away... I have only succeeded in partial functionality with official Samsung firmware.
The problem is that the AOSP/CM7 Nfc.apk does NOT like our stock device's JNI libraries (crashfest) - but using the Nexus S JNI libs causes the behavior you describe.
Aosp? Ehm well im a noob lol i dont understand at all about technology especial telephone instead computer antway i try to learn as quick as i can :/

Learning
I hear you, man. After the last few years with iPhones, I am learning a ton since coming here.
AOSP is Android Open Source Project. It is often used to mean plain android without any 3rd party changes like HTC sense or Samsung TouchWiz.
Cyanogen builds their ROMs straight from AOSP. Other devs start with already modified versions. For example UnNamed and Serindipity are built off of the Samsung modified android that came on our phones.

Lol now understand clear thank a lot! Too bad that i couldnt use nfc right now....i wonderf when can be able to enable? :S any clues?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Rule number one of Cyanogen Mod is do not ask for dates. I would say that applies here too. Even if the devs can get NFC to work it is very unlikely we will be able to use google wallet, which is the big draw for a lot of people.

I knew some of what you were talking about, but I am a little unclear about the link between AOSP and stock Android. They don't actually put out anything that is usable by average consumers, right? Their output is solely for the dev community?

My New rooted phone
Hello, I am a newbie to this whole rooting thing. I just had my phone rooted with UnNamed ROM v2.2.1 so far the phone has been really fast and smooth. Its a nice clean setup. The big question is, now what? What should be my next step? Nothing big since I`m still learning. Maybe a theme? I not sure. Thanks for any input. Have a great night.
Do whatever you feel like doing, or leave it as it is if it works for you. That's the beauty of Android, you always have choices. Enjoy your phone, it's a beast.

Tv-out

Hi guys
I bought a tv out cable over ebay recently tho it hasnt arrived yet.. i just wanna know if anyone has used a rom that they can confirm works with tv out. Cm7 would be preferred. Im aware there is a kang of cm7.2 with tv out working but the link and thread are dead so if anyone can post it, ill love you forever.
On a side note, does anyone know for a fact that my wiimote will not work with n64 on cm7 or the vibrant?
Thanks in advance guys

As long as you are using a non-Samsung ROM/kernel, the wiimote should pair just fine. You will have to download an IME app for it from the market though. I can't remember what the app was that I used. Search for wiimote and that should get you what you need.
I had it running back in the days when GB roms on the vibrant were being released here. Made playing Mario 64 a lot easier than with the on screen virtual buttons

Last I checked it lacks Hardware acceleration though so beware. If you are to try to play any video that is 480p or higher it probably won't play.
For example if you try to show the videos you just took with your phone in the big screen (like I had tried) it won't work, so you can say it's a bit crippled version of TV-out. If you want true TV-out you have to try Froyo derived roms ... sadly.

Is there a patch for Bluetooth Controllers (5.0)

I want to use bluetooth controllers for gaming (Ps3 & wiimote), as well as using using a Bluetooth enabled dumbphone with the GP5. I am going to root my device, but I don't know if I want to install custom roms. Is there a simple fix for the Bluetooth protocols?
No one is going to respond or reply. A lot of unhelpful people round here. Trust me I have asked for help a few time and only once has some one gave me a hand.

Idk, it just doesn't seem to be a sgp 5 specific problem.

Alright well on all Galaxy devices pre-ICS how do you fix the BT protocols? I know on my GF's Epic 4G S2 Bluetooth was fixed with ICS but since the 5.0 and other players (all of them currently on the market?) won't get an official update and custom ICS roms mess up the camera it seems like a no win situation. Maybe I should just save more money and get a Galaxy Nexus.
maybe this is your solution ->http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rUB-S7BwMH4
As far as I know, all you have to do is flash a custom gingerbread rom
