[MetaMorph Theme] AllBlack v1.2 - Vibrant Themes and Apps

FOR SAMSUNG VIBRANT (SGH-T959)
USE WITH OTHER GALAXY S MODELS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
CURRENTLY TWO VERSIONS. 1.1 IS FOR JFD-BASED FIRMWARE WHILE 1.2 IS FOR JI6-BASED FIRMWARE. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT VERSION!
UPDATE
This update is to make this theme compatible with the new JI6 firmware and ROMs based on it (such as Bionix 1.6 and above). There are no changes or additions to how the theme looks as of yet. It should appear identical to version 1.1 running on JFD-based firmware. Also, I have decided to remove the black-to-stock reversion theme as it seems to be causing more problems than it is solving due to compatibility issues with other firmware and other Galaxy S models. If you wish to return to stock, please either restore a NAND backup or use/create a stock TouchWIZ MetaMorph theme that is designed to work with your current firmware on your device.
AllBlack v1.2
This theme gives your notification bar and pull-down notification menu a sleek, minimalistic flat black look. Not only does this theme give your Galaxy S phone a clean dark look, but it also helps you save on precious battery power since black areas of the screen require zero power due to the active matrix nature of Samsung's Super AMOLED display.
I have made two versions available, one with my own custom notification icons (the same ones included in my ClearBar theme), and one without any notification icons so you can keep the same icons you have already been using.
This is a MetaMorph theme, so you will need to install MetaMorph from the Market and use it to apply this theme.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE APPLYING THIS THEME!
ClockworkMod Recovery is available for Galaxy S phones through the ROM Manager which is available in the Market. If you have not already, please install ROM Manager in order to flash ClockworkMod Recovery (completely safe) and create a nandroid backup before applying this theme. I am not responsible for any issues this theme causes. It works perfectly fine on my Vibrant, but no two phones are alike so your experience my differ.
Be sure to turn USB Debugging on before applying. For some reason, having debugging disabled causes MetaMorph to hang when applying the theme.
Feel free modify or incorporate this theme in part or whole in your own projects. I only ask that you give me some credit if you redistribute my work.

applied both versions of this theme, however the dropdown notification background stayed the same default color (light greyish) both times and after a reboot. any ideas?

This is incredible.. black is my favorite color and I LOVE this theme. Only thing I would change is use the arrow with a line under it for downloads isntead of that box. Freaking awesome. Thanks tricorder!
Had to revert the "Droid in dropdown" theme for it to apply fully, where as when I applied on top of it only themed the top notification bar.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

applied only changed the bar not the pull down but still looks good
edit: a 2 reboots got it to show nice work just what i was looking for

i was just going to say the same thing. rebooted, reapplied, rebooted and then it started soft-rebooting itself 5 or 6x. Finally it let me back to the homescreen and everything seems to be ok.

It worked perfect fine for me coming off your Clearbar notification theme...
Sent from my Ungodly sleek, stylish, powerful, and sexy Vibrant...It reminds me of myself

I was having the same problem everyone else is having with getting the pull-down notification list to change properly when I was making this and testing it out. The best solution I found for when this happens is to go back into MetaMorph, only apply twframwork-res.apk from this theme, and then reboot. I don't know what causes this, and didn't have the same problem when I was making ClearBar.

I'm actually pretty fond of my animated downloads icon. I really like the whole "arrows of data going down into the phone" effect that I made. If you don't like it, you're perfectly free to use different icons or make your own. Just open up the zip file and navigate to framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi and replace the icons you want to change. No resigning or anything like that is required for this to work in MetaMorph.

No dissin tricorder lol.. you made my phone awesome. Thanks...

White stuff?
can we get a theme with white for the notifications text? I want brilliant white instead of dim colors... not hatin or anything!!!

i don't know if anyone else is having troubles but when i do this is messes up my market to the point i cannot access it. Any ideas?

+1 on the white text and I never had any problems with my market..

I don't know what file I need to edit to make the text white, or just how easy it is to make it work. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks. What editor would you recommend using to edit this file? I used Open XML Editor to make the XML file for MetaMorph, but it won't open this file.

Use hxd. Search for 0800001C and then edit the following 8 digits (BGRA).
Here's a good guide to get you started: http://www.jbthemes.com/AndroidThemeingGuide/The Ultimate Android Themeing Guide.pdf
Or you could just yank it out of my theme if you're short on time

Thanks again. I'll look over this and learn to do this the right way instead of yanking it out of your theme, but thanks for offering.

Tricorder, look for AXMLPrinter2.jar on the forums. It can convert binary xml to text xml.

tried to revert back to stock...it just hung on the 'applying' screen forever. rebooted, tried again, etc. let it run on 'applying' for 2 hours before giving up. stuck with the allblack theme now and although i'm not sure (haven't been able to isolate it) i think it is causing some lag issues. but this may be unrelated.

I really don't see how it could be causing lag. All it does is change some png files.
Also, double-check to make sure you still have usb debugging enabled. That seems to be the primary cause for MetaMorph hanging when applying themes. I've used my black-to-stock theme to revert a few times with no problems, although it doesn't always seem to apply the stock images from twframework-res on the first try, but the second try and a reboot always seems to work.

I'm working on a new release of this. I've eliminated the white background for the music controls in the pull-down notification menu and started changing some of the text to white to show up better. Does anyone have any suggestions for some other changes?

[MetaMorph Theme] ClearBar v1.0

FOR SAMSUNG VIBRANT (SGH-T959)
APPLICATION TO OTHER GALAXY S MODELS IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS THIS MAY CAUSE.
New Release!
Wow, it's been a while since I've done any work on this theme. Here's a much-needed update that should help with applying this theme with the new firmware and with other custom themes. Not much has changed graphically, except for the new transparent blue pop-up text boxes.
The main theme no longer contains my notification icons. Those are now packaged separately in two different versions, one with the battery icons and one without. If you are using a custom battery indicator, such as an accurate battery mod, then use the package without battery icons.
Also, I have included a dark-to-light package for moving from a dark notification theme such as my AllBlack theme or the one included in Bionix. THIS IS FOR JI6 FIRMWARE ONLY!
I have removed the clear-to-stock theme as it seems like these reversion themes cause more problems than they solve since not everyone is using the same firmware.
ClearBar v1.0
This changes your notification bar to a rounded see-through bar and replaces several TouchWiz notification icons with heavily modified versions created by me. It also replaces the pull-down notification list with a modified version with a clear background.
This is a MetaMorph theme, so you will need to install MetaMorph from the Market and use it to apply this theme.

When I try to install it, it stays at "Applying framework-res.apk theme 1 of 1" in metamorph"
Do you know what I can do to fix this?
Very nice...thank you! It goes very well with my spinning galaxy live wallpaper. The only time I like the stock TW notification bar better is when I open the browser. The bar then looks light gray and there's not much contrast between your bar and the white font of the bar.
I tried the Evo black bar morph before trying yours and I couldn't get MM to do anything with the file after it would extract the zip. Yours on the other hand worked just fine...so, good job!

Do you have USB Debugging enabled? I noticed in the EVO bar thread that some people with this problem got it to work by enabling USB Debugging.

I actually used the EVO black bar morph as a template for mine (this is my first time ever making a MetaMorph theme), although I didn't use any of the actual artwork from it. I don't really know how this works for you when the black bar one won't, but I'm glad you're happy with it.

Would it possible to change the drop down portion to a translucent design as well. I used to have a clear notification area on my old mytouch and it looked great, so just speculating.

I'm not sure, but I've been thinking about doing that too. I'm still pretty new to making themes and there's a lot that I haven't figured out yet.
Works on my Captivate but you need to fix some images like stat_sys_signal_5.png that have some white left in the transparency background.
Thanks for pointing that out. There are quite a few things I want to fix and tweak before I make this a "finished" 1.0 release.

It looks like Android puts a second short notification bar behind the date in order to hide the notification icons in the area where the date appears. If I can somehow get rid of that bar, then the date will be displayed right on top of the icons and look pretty messy. I don't know if there's an alternate method of hiding those icons.
Very nice work. Using it full time now. Really fits in well with the rest of the system. I'm gonna see if I can make a solid variant -- the transparency doesn't play too well with white BGs.

[THEME]GingerBlue - Bionix-V-1.2.1 - [v1.7.119] - quick, look at that! [2/25/11]

Here is a morph I put together for my device and figured I would share it with you. It basically replaces any of the "green" within Nero with blue. It also replaces the icons for all the AOSP applications with their AOSP style icon. Camera, Calendar, Contacts, Dialer, Calculator, Video Player, Music Player, Email and Browser. You can also replace the gingerbread keyboard with a blue one too Enjoy.
GingerBlue is available via Android Customization Suite - listed under camalot - thanks to birgertime for the great tool.
I've added to my build script so the ACS repo will be automatically updated to the latest version.
v1.7 is for Bionix-V 1.2.1 - I have not tested with 1.2.0 or any other versions. If you want to try, be my guest
v1.6 is for Bionix-V ONLY
Please do not use any of this mod in your own mod unless you ask first and I say it is ok. A lot of time has gone in to making this, tweaking things here and there, to get it right. If you ask, I will more then likely say yes, as long as you give credit, where credit is due. If you see someone's name, besides mine in the change log, ask them, not me.
GingerRed by Mr. Apocalypse - based on GingerBlue
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. Make a backup before you apply this.
For anyone else that creates morphs/themes, I created a google code project to host some community created projects. If you want svn access send me a pm. I have the "source" for this project currently up there.

I have had it where I occasionally get FCs when applying it. If I get them, I reboot and manually install the other items after it reboots. Or just try again. Ive had that happen with multiple morphs. It just depends on what apps are being changed, and if they are running when its happening.

To people with force close problems, do the morphs one at a time, media and phone will require a battery pull.
I really like this theme, but I do have one request. Can you make the selection highlights the same color? The default orange is pretty ugly IMO. thanks!

I will do the selection highlights to the blue, I may even do the "textbox selections" too. I'm also working on changing the date to the gray color of the icons when the notification tray is expanded.
I am looking in to changing the time too, but that cant be done in a morph, as it requires a change to the services.jar. I would like to make it so its configurable in like settings but dont know if I can make that happen or not.

This is a work in progress. The goal of this project is to move it into a Theme.apk for the new "Theme Chooser"
Credits:

This is his hard work, and it's very good looking, I'm just trying to help minimize the zip size and get it moved to an apk for Tmobiles Theme Chooser
this is a good start in the right direction, dueces
Awesome, thanks!
*sigh* - DON'T
Seriously, guys... The themeing engine was added to CM7 precisely to avoid this kind of messing up with the ROM, so *don't* do this. Themes can now be built and distributed as APKs, you can even market the damned things...
This comes from an installable APK, for example:
xttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/10355648/mau5-land.png
Check the vendor/tmobile/themes/Cyanbread and Androidian stuff for examples.
Awesome I love it thanks
So this is a .apk or theme? Could you explain a bit more why you say this is a bad idea?

Had some issues, working now on #15. I edited the link in post #1 for the working full colorized build #14
I dig this, but am not keen on flashing something on top of nightlies that could jack with the ROM that's already a WIP.
Once you convert to a theme I'll definitely give it a whirl (not much liking the current 3 themes, but love the functionality & options it will bring).

It's a theme, installed as an APK. Messing up with ROMs to change layout has always been a problem, it's _very_ easy to mess up something, especially when those changes are done by simply repacking the resources (unzip, replace, re-zip). It's a fairly frequent source of support problems for developers, and it's just an ugly way of themeing a phone.
CM7 includes a themeing engine developed by T-Mobile, and the main reason for it is to prevent these problems (and it is _very_ powerful, allows you to change almost anything from layout to animations, not just graphics). If you're running a recent build of CM7 (or any of the many CM kangs) , open the "Theme Chooser" application and choose one of the 2 samples: they are a very small example of what can be done. Note that even the window transitions are changed. Then search the market for "greybeard", and have fun installing your first market theme

well, no, its not a theme yet
its actually a kanged version of cm7
THE ONLY THINGS THAT ARE CHANGED ARE:
images in framework, SystemUI, Settings, Bluetooth, Browser, Calculator, Calendar, Contacts, Deskclock, Email, FM, MMS, Music and Phone
no layouts or xml files are changed, only images
the images changed have the exact same names, they have only been colorized so that the menu icons and notification bar icons that were grey/black and white before are now colored...some others that were colored before (like battery for instance) were changed to blue or some other design that i preferred (i personally cant stand the signal bars/wifi indicators in gingerbread)
this was originally just something i was doing for myself for a few months starting in july, 2010, but after i finally shared it in october over at cmforum, it took off as people liked it
there is nothing else changed in the ROM itself, so flashing this overtop of your current version of cm7.*** doesnt "break" anything else
so really its as simple as having both versions available on sdcard and flashing one or the other
honestly, its much to do about nothing, its just a different look
if someone can tell me how to "theme" the framework, and all those apk's listed above without doing it this way, i'd be glad to do it, it would save me alot of work, but i like doing it anyway

For those of you crying that this will break ****: No, it won't. It is a full rom. Nothing is broken/breaking.
I am working on adding it to the theme chooser, as that's the goal here.
Top post updated with #15
Flashed over a non cm nightly everything is running fine, just flashed and all data is there

This is now an addon .zip (flash after you flash nightly #16)

I have been using the version since the first version was introduced until I moved to MIUI. I had it for a while and haven't had any issues with anything whatsoever
Used the full versions myself

This theme does not include a clock in the notification bar, if you like your clock delete services.jar from /system/framework prior to flash.
Font featured is called Droidlogo and can be downloaded from an app called "Custom Android Font Switcher"
For best experience flash over your stock rom. If you wish to have the Themed version of launcher pro download the below attachment. First uninstall launcher pro from your phone then install the below file like you would any other .apk (click on it from with in your favorite file browser)
Looks great. I just saw on one of your screenshots there is white text on white.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have noticed that as well, we will be fixing that in v2 as currently we are only able to get either white or black text everywhere, which messes up the menus. The menus as of right now are more important than the notification bar messages. (thus far this is the only noticeable issue with in the entire theme)
Works on Bionix 1.2.1. Can you link the wallpaper?
White market didn't install on bionix but other than that its looks amazing.
Looks great, probably just needs the newer Market.. I bet it's just updating. Great job, will test soon. It will be nice to see cyanogen's notification bar again, I miss the rounded look.
Why do I have to remove launcher pro? Its my favorite one. Looks really good! !
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo

Thats because this theme is for Axura, you can likely get it to work by redoing the file structure or pulling the vending.apk from the zip and pushing to appropriate directory for bionix.

There's a newer version than 2.3.2 ?? I really need to read more. The only issue that i am currently aware of with the notification bar at this point is the white text upon notification. Hopefully this satisfies your desire for a more mature themes .

Because I HATE LPP , honestly i havent figured out why the flash doesnt work 100% of the time for LPP (those nasty vanilla folders clash horribly with the aesthetic).
If you all have any constructive suggestions for me please feel free, this is v1 I do plan on releasing updates with added goodies as my theming and coding knowledge base expands.
I didnt understand the need to remove LauncherPro either... Seems like Launcher2 is the way you want to go for the look/theme, but I cant see why a user could not opt for LP....
I included a themed version of Launcher Pro but for some reason when flashing it doesn't like the fact that lp is still there and doesnt over ride it. I can get the LP apk to install on its own as a standalone but not while flashing over the old lp. I'll update the op to be more clear

And the text message preview text is also white and on my phone there is small black specs in my upper right hand of the pulldown bar. Almost looks like its the first number of my clock cut off. Anyways kind of annoying to see. Any idea how to get rid of it ? I tried flashing twice but that didn't change it.

The specks are there intentionally, I wanted to give the notification bar a rounded appearance. I do know that the notification bar text is white, I havent had a chance to look into it yet, but from what i can tell its tied to the menu text color, which if we make that black is completely illegible, i may experiment with using a light grey text which would fix the issue, but at the time menu color was more important that the notification text color. Now as to the clock, are you flashing from stock axura or another theme? and what kind of clock did you want in your notification bar, standard the notification bar clock is removed.

LOL yea thats probably the cause then, if you could get a services.jar modified for no clock for trigger then copy and paste it to the system/framework directory it should fix that issue for you, i would attempt my hand at it but seeing as how i run axura i wouldn't feel comfortable posting something i havent personally tested. You could also try copying the services jar from stock Trigger into the same directory, that should work as well.

I might just flash axura to experience the full theme cuz my keyboard never changed nor did the market. I love the switch from the always dark colored themes to this one so I want the full experience lol. If you can keep this theme going with more and more customizing then it will be the most unique in my opinion

nice theme but the wifi, signal and battery icon doesnt fit my taste lol.
is it too much to ask if you could port the theme from the original Lite'ning Rom v6.1. I love that blue theme and would love to have it on unnamed.

Yea I'll try getting around to it. I need to fix two issues with red and blue monkey first.
Nice theme Jivy good job on all the ports to Unnamed ROM. On the Airplane mode icon are you holding out to see if he updates to use the Vol/Vibe mode? Also will the dialer and calc expand if I change the dpi to 200?

No his theme used sound instead of airplane mode. I'm out of town until Sunday and didn't have time to build the airplane icon, but the sgs2 needed more themes so figured I'd overlook it until Sunday when I got back.
Doesn't support anything other than stock dpi at this moment.
Updated toggle menu support for UnNamed Rom. Also fixed airplane issue
Great job on adding the scrollable toggles into the theme, love that option. Installed and the only issue I am having is with contacts. Not sure yet if it is a dpi issue (I am putting it back to 240 and let you know if any change). But the contacts bar at the top is crashing everytime I try to use it. I am getting a message that I have attached and wondering if you or anyone else is seeing this too?

UnNamed version 1.03...I tried a changing the DPI back to 240 and still the same thing. I think I am going to re-flash things again and see if it corrects the issue. I will update with results/solution that I used or came up with.
A re-flash seems to have cleaned up any garbage I might have had with doing things last night (late and half asleep). Probably all my doing when I was working on it and not being "Fully" coherent while working on the phone last night. Note to all...A good nights sleep and a fresh start the next day will probably prevent most mistakes made and a number of erroneous posts later...Sorry Jivy for mucking up the thread.

ok, thanks for that info.
Just flashed this theme and really like it. Were you planning on porting over the other colored themes as well? Also, as I have no idea how to make them, I was wondering how hard it would be to make a blue and gold theme (University of Michigan colors)? Just curious. Thanks for all of your work!!!

I also noticed that after the flash of the BM Theme it put the Red Monkey image files onto the SD Card directory. You can delete...or keep, the choice is up to you.
BTW is anyone else seeing the green progress bars on scanning or downloading and a half bar of Blue/Grey in some instances?

Im reinstalling win 7 this weekend to hopefully get rid of these PS crashes so I can tweak things in the themes So if you notice anything post it and I will get them all worked out this weekend
Great theme. I just updated to the 2.3.5 leak though. Requesting port
i777 stock 2.3.5 kj2
Entropy512 Doom
14 toggle mod
Onepointsixingit
One more request @Jivy...When you are re-tooling or adjusting things in the theme can you update the Unknown callers in the log and in call pictures to something less Buffy the Vampire and National Geo-graphics Burka chick and maybe more BlueMonkey Androidish??? PLEEEEA$E! Also maybe something in the notifications semi-transparent window would be nice...Thx! (See Attached).
