i want to use the animation for opening & closing windows but i wonder will it affect on the battery life or the screen ( because when tha animation is activated the screen goes on and off for a bit of a second)?

I think you've answered your question.

I have it on, and dont have any battery issues...
Having said that, the animation is pretty much unnoticeable, its so quick ^^

Hello all.
I have rather a weird situation. I have a Lite'ning rom, and it comes default with the CRT animation. However, sometimes the closing animation will put a 'defect' on the screen just before turning the screen off.
It looks like the screen is broken and the white lines stay there. Now, this happens after some time the phone is on. Once restarted, the phone will go back to the normal state.
I have to repeat this: This defect is present for only a few millisecond, during the CRT closing animation. The screen has no defects or any yellow lines.
Does this sound like a software fault or a hardware fault? Also, since I am the first one who is reporting this, is it ok to assume that I am the only one with this 'fault'?
Thank you,
Mo.
55 views and NO answer.. I mean, people can't even say whether they ACTUALLY experienced this or not?!!?!
yes i get it too. it must be the crt animation thats.. not optimized for sgsii
I am guessing what you see is identical to the 'no-clipping' effect seen when you go through a wall in a really old game like doom using the no-clip cheat.

I am absolutely satisfied with this phone . BUT i have one problem . When i push the power buton it takes between 0.2 and 2 secound to appear the lock screen. What should i do to make it faster? Becouse the waiting is disappointing with this hardware ....
if u want instant on u will need all of you 4 cores to stay awaken at full speed at all time u still want it ?
it goes to power saving mode thats why it needs 2 secs to be awaken

It's right , but my old desire hd had about 0.5 sec to wake up . This is why i asked it .
It's a battery saving feature. You can turn off S-Voice on lockscreen from the S-Voice settings, or just completely disable the whole application like I did, and this speeds up the wake process a little bit.

Yes i have already done that . But this lag is really annoying . Mainly because its not always the same ammount . Sometimes it takes 3 secounds but sometimes its a half secound. I really dont know what to do...
If your USB cable is connected, it wakes up instantly, if not, there is a lag. This is a feature (!) of Samsung phones. We discussed it deeply on this thread in SGS2 forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136223
Basically, it's epic failure by Samsung and there's no solution.
It can't be explained by saying phone needs to sleep, because HTC, LG, Sony, Motorola phones sleep too and none of them needs so long to wake up.
oh well in terms of when your actually using the phone, nothing compares to the speed and fluidity of Sammy phones. Isnt really an issue that it takes a second longer to wake up

Yes, but they also dont tend to have as good standby battery life on HTC, LG, Sony or Moto phones.
I'm not defending them completely but this is a design decision rather than a bug. That said, on the Galaxy Note it has been almost completely alleviated since the ICS upgrade.

I noticed it only recently after screwing around @ 1.8ghz that suddenly the phone is taking sometimes millisec or sometimes even 3 secs to go to lock screen and also ripple is slowed if immediately try to unlock. I thought maybe i messed up some part of hardware by o/cing it too much. Even my old LG O3D takes just a sec. ANyway glad to know it's a common thing and not my phone being fkd up.
I can't judge, I take several minutes to wake up.
Still waiting...

Thank you for all the answers!
Ive noticed this too, its frustrating, makes the phone feel laggy.
My S2 was running CM9 and that was sharp as hell, no messing about, is this something that will in time be fixed with a custom rom?
This is my first samsung and I haven't figured out everything yet, I would like the display to stay on while it is charging so I can use it as a clock. My Evo always stayed on while it was charging and I could hit the power button to turn off the display while charging if i wanted to, is this possible on the sprint s3?

I used extended controls and have the control sitting in my pull down. Use the toggle "stay awake".
Let me know if you need more info.

thanks for the reply, I can't find extended controls, where is it?
the reason they disabled the option is because the super AMOLED screen can be prone to burn-in and washing out. i suggest NOT leaving it on for extended times (especially if the screen is not changing images)

There is a app in the market called stay awake. I use it and it's pretty good gets the job done.

Good to know. I don't leave it on while charging, but I like to have my music more accessible when driving since this thing doesn't have music control on the lockscreen.
I would never, ever leave the display of any of my OLED devices on when I am not directly interacting with them.
I had bad burn in on my old Nexus One from simply having the display on while charging.
I learned my lesson then; never again.
I have been having an issue when I close the camera on my DNA. When I close the camera the video sometimes flakes out like there is a problem with the screen. I always keep auto brightness off and I leave the brightness the whole way down. It only seems to do this when the brightness is the entire way down. When opening the camera the screen gets very bright and the problem seems to happen when the screen is rapidly getting darker when the camera closes. Like I said, I can only produce the problem when the brightness is the whole way down. Once I lock the screen and unlock it, the phone goes back to normal. I have taken multiple screenshots when the problem happens too, and they always turn out normal almost making me think its a problem with the screen.
I am rooted and running the stock deodexed ROM and I have been able to produce the same problem on UKB ROM and also Genome, however I cant seem to reproduce it on the stock odexed rom. So because of this I'm wondering if anyone else has seen the same problem? I can't really get the phone replaced when I can't produce the problem on the stock ROM.
Here is a youtube video I uploaded of the issue to show exactly what's goin on.

same issue, different way of getting it (or same actually, i always got it going into the gallery)
whats your screen animation set to under dev options? whenever i was set to 0.5x, this would ALWAYS happen. 1.0 and above, NEVEr. now i have animations OFF, and it has never happened since.
moral of the story: don't use window transition animation at 0.5x or else this glitch occurs. it was the first thing i reported to HTC in my thread but yeah, no animations and i'm fine...and 1x animations and it's fine too
btw, my brightness was at 40% when it happened. doesn't matter what % it was for m.e
Yeah my transition animations are also set to .5 so I'll have to try it turned off. Is your phone rooted or is it running stock ROM? One of my friends has a rooted DNA and he can't produce the problem with his phone so I thought it was only mine. You are the first person I've seen have the same issue but I was hoping it was a more widespread bug and not just my phone.

stock No root. I guarantee its the transition animations at less than 1. have him set it to that and do what I did in the video... that's how I was able to quickly reproduce it.

OK well my wife's DNA is stock unrooted and i set her transition animations to .5 and brightness all the way down and I cannot get her phone to do it in portrait or landscape. Mine has the problem constantly. I just wonder if the problem only happens on certain phones.

turn her brightness up. do it at 50% or so. that's when mine did it.
DUDE way to jinx me! wtf. hahaha i turned animations on to 1.0x for the first time in like 3 weeks, and after taking a pic, my screen faded out again!
ugh. anyway, it's back to off, so lets see if it does it..

Haha sorry man!
BTW, I have tried everything with my wifes phone and I cannot get hers to do it. I do know one thing with mine was I use nova launcher and I had the slide transition enabled. I turned it to stock JB animations and haven't been able to get mine to do it since then. Even on .5 transition speed and brightness the whole way down. I'm just happy I don't have faulty hardware.
I see the charging indicator and percentage is always on now when the Tab is charging, is there a way to get the clock on as well? Like the phones? I saw a thread about developer options, but that just keeps the screen awake.
I was wondering if it can show the charging battery percentage, why can't we show the clock?? Am I missing something?
Thanks

Thanks. Looks like your recommend is working, does it move the time around the screen? Not that I'm too worried about burn in on an almost three year old tablet, but still. The settings aren't the cleanest, so maybe I missed it.

"Always on AMOLED" has all needed features like "Auto movement" and "Time Rules".
However, there is always the risk of burn in!
You should use AOD intermittently.
