Hi,
Three (sorry I edited) things I need help with:
1 - Is there a way of increasing the max number of recipients of messages from 10 to a larger number?
2 - At some point I came across an options menu which allows you to configure how far back in time to download your emails. I think it's set to 1 or 2 weeks by default but you can extend this significantly. I regret not changing it when I came across it because, despite spending near to an hour searching for the same menu, I can not find it again.
3 - I seem not to be able to search my music collection. Is there any third party music player (preferably free) that has this function?
Any help you can offer will be much appreciated. I have searched the forums for solutions but have failed. If the answer is out there I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
Many thanks,
Harry
1 - HKLM/software/jatayu/messaging maxrecipients
2 - email tab, inbox, menu, tools, options, pick the account you want to edit, edit account setup, click next about 5 times bottom dropdown.
3 - dunno
For changing the maximum recipients you might be better off installing a tool called BSB Tweaks (can be found here on XDA) which is pretty user friendly.
There again if you are happy to tweak the registry, do as the previous poster advises.

Hello,
I'm practicably legally blind and reading emails/SMSs and text in games is damn near impossible for me.
I've got the Samsung Ace and I've found an app to switch the answer slider with a big-ass button, I'm using WP_Clock (Which was mentioned here, thanks!) to see the time and date.
I've rooted and tried a few font resizers but none worked and the ones that did only worked on the English font (most of my phone is in Hebrew).
Does anyone have any idea how can I deal with this, other than getting Android eyes
Oh, one more thing:
I've used Total Recall and CallRecorder to record my calls, both record me fine but the other side through the mic, any idea if there are other apps that can record both sides at the same quality?
May all who read this post be touched by his noodly appendage,
Sam.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, My doctors told me it'll be easier to read white text on a black background, so I downloaded a few of those modified apps (Gmail and DropBox). If you know of any others, I'd appreciate a mention.
Noob to android!!
On my Samsung GT 5570, there is an accessibility option under "options", with text to speech features. But looks like the phone has to download several components. Have not tried them, will try them out if you are interested.
Running Gingerbread 2.3.3 (but it was there in froyo 2.2.1 Africa version too).
Saw that option on my run-through of the device (saw isn't exactly the word...)
Not that comfortable using an actual magnifying glass on your cellphone.
Can't stand that thing, that's why I'm posting, looking for something a bit more comfortable like resized fonts and such.
Thanks for trying though, appreciate your assistance!
Using accessibility features in Android
Ok. I have a Samsung GT S5570, "mini".
I have upgraded from 2.2.1 Froyo to 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
To enable accessibility features, more specifically, text to speech, you need to go into two options,
1, Settings > Voice input and output
2. settings > accessibility
I cannot remember which one I opened first, but the phone asked me to enable data downloads / background sync as I entered both menus. ("Always on GPRS" - if you are new to android - especially were using Nokia phones so far).
Once the data is downloaded, go to #1. First entry is "Listen to an example". You can change the language and speed of text to speech engine in other menu options below. At the bottom, I have and entry, which says "engine" and underneath, "PicoTTS". This means required data and text speech engine are installed on the phone.
I guess the available languages are dependent on the ROM you use - you probably need to have the African ROM. (Hope somebody will correct me here).
Here is how to actually enable the phone to read the screen,
Settings > Accessibility > Talkback.
Just enable Talkback. That is it.
Again, I appreciate your help but as I've said, I'm not too comfortable with the TTS and prefer, as long as I have other options, not to use it.
If anyone has any other apps in mind, I'd love to know.
Otherwise, The built in TTS has been checked and discarded, thank you.
I am developing an app that sends a text to a group of people (my fellow firefighters) when we get a call. I have everything working but I have to hard code the phone numbers in.
What I want to do is to be able to hit menu and then 'select contacts' or whatever. In the new screen, I just want a simple contact selection with a checkbox so I can select/deselect people and the rest of the program runs with that list so I don't have to hard code the phone number, export, move apk to my phone, install, etc. every time I have to change something.
I have googled for about 3 days using many various terms and can only find guides to a single contact selection. None of them allow you to select multiple contacts.
Does anyone know a way to make this happen? I am pretty new to java so I don't know much about it.
Eclipse with the android base 2.2 (SDK v. 8)
Any help is appreciated.
Any help please? I am quickly coming up to this part of my project and it's the last thing I need to do.
HI
Just trying to play around with my new toy to get some things the way I have been used to on my android phone and would appreciate some help.
Firstly can I set what is displayed on the Calendar tile is a how many days ahead it adds entries from and/or how many entries?
In the linked inbox any way to easily see which email account an email is from? Such as with a coloured tab next to it or something?
Thanks
I think u cannot change the default behavious of the Calendar app, was searching 4 it myself, but soon I gave up. The answer for the linked inbox is pretty much the same
There is a theme here - you cannot change the notification sounds separate from the ringtone sounds; cannot define a separate tone for (say) whatsapp different from messages
When you view an e-mail from the linked inbox, it tells you which box, Yahoo, Google etc, the e-mail is from.
No need for 'tags'...
true but you have to open the email to do that. A quick visual representation would have been nice but I admit not vital.
Found something called Calendar(+) which adds a tile for "week view" and a month view with actual entries on it so that sort of gets around the calendar thingy too although sadly no live tile option I can see.
That being said phone is crashing a few times already so getting it replaced and hope it is just that particular handset is the culprit
^ crashing after portico update?
surprisingly mine is working fine since day 1 - touchwood!
only problem was battery life but its improving significantly after each charge cycle.
only problem is a minor light leak on left side near back button ..but i had it on other phones also and wondering if i should get it fixed or phone changed
Yes it happened even after the update.
Battery life pretty rubbish so far but I have read it gets better.
Being exchanged for another handset tomorrow.
Otherwise I do like it!
Interestingly after I posted that it never crashed again - but had it swapped anyway and the new one has been stable for the week to date.
I am enjoying the experience so far but lots of things to learn!
Hi all, first off, im brand new to android development, this question might seem stupid, i've searched and looked through the wiki, but couldnt find the answer to my question (hoping I didnt miss it) .
In my login screen on my app, i want to be able to choose from two ore more locations in a Spinner (not linked with language, that is chosen seperate). Selecting one of these locations will change 3 WSDL in a seperate class to match that location (right now its 2, but itmight expand in the future). I got the spinner up and running, but not sure how i can deal with the code and logic behind the spinner selection. How can the spinner selection set which WSDL links to connect to?
Any ideas? I hope it makes sence, if not , please ask and i will try to elaborate more deeply.
Hello everyone, and sorry for my bad English. I apologize if I repeat the same request that I posted last night in the thread related to the rom in question, but probably this section is the most appropriate.
First of all a thank you to Deepflex for its immense work, which allowed us to use the latest versions of android on our smartphones. For work reasons I have always preferred stock versions, usually more stable than custom ones, but lately I decided to try this LineageOS.
I noticed some gaps, rather than real bugs, and I could not find solutions looking for them in the forums. So I thought to ask you directly if you can advise me how to meet my needs:
- First of all, compared to previous versions I used so far, in the management of storage space there is no option to tell Android to use the microSD as the default mass storage. Is there an app that can activate the same option (or at least allow me to change the default destination path for downloads, documents, phone records, email attachments, etc)?!?
- Among the applications installed by default there is no "Backup & Restore" for telephone contacts, and the contact manager of LineageOS has limits in the export of contacts (maximum 1000 contacts, and only save on file or import from files without possibility of pass them from one account to another).
- If the screen lock with PIN is activated in the security section, when the screen is in power saving and a notification is received, pressing the power button directly displays the keypad for entering the PIN instead of showing the status bar with notifications received and not yet read: to be able to see them, it is therefore mandatory to unlock the screen by entering the PIN each time.
Thanks to everyone right now for the tips you can give me.
