Can't return to stock rogers rom! - XPERIA X10 Android Development

Hi guys, Im trying to bring my phone back to rogers stock firmware and I can't seem to do it. I downloaded the unbricker tool and the firmware, which has 2 files named "1" and "2". I got no idea how to use the firmware with the unbricker tool, so can someone help me?
Thanks in Advance

Sounds like you downloaded the SEUS firmware files and you are trying to use the debricker tool which requires .sin files.
You can use the 1 and 2 file with SEUS software by following the instructions in that thread. You basically need to replace the files in a directory for SEUS while it's downloading them. One file is 16mb and the other is 125mb+. There may be a better firmware for you to download for use with the debricker.

wait im confused by your post can you try and maybe explain it a bit clearer? thanks

The 1 and 2 file are for use with the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) and not the debrick process. You'll need the Rogers files that are intended for use with the debricker and not the ones you have.
It is possible to use the 1 and 2 files to restore your phone to stock but it's more complicated and I'd suggest just getting the correct files.
I believe you need the first file (WWE_R1FA014 under X10a) in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793

okay and do I replace all the files? because when I tried to only replace the ones already there, it gave me the exclamation mark and I had to go back to the debranded version.

Read the thread for decrypted roms. You need to replace the .sin files from the flash tool with the .sin files from the firmware version you downloaded from that page. Then run the flah tool with the new files in it. Its pretty simple once you figure it out.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

do I only replace the .sin files? and do I add the extra .sin files in?

Files 1 and 2 are not files that we are looking for. That link bring us wrong files.
Now do one thing download flash tool from here http://hotfile.com/dl/44983907/9d54b5e/XIOFUB.rar.html
Then downlaod files from this link http://hotfile.com/dl/43225669/598ad...4_DEK.zip.html.
The file we download from this link has two folders.extract them then copy files from them to flash tool folder. Then root your xperia x10 and you are ready with RB014 original one. You can update it from SEU. EASY!

hmm, everytime I replace the files, my xperia x10 gets the bricked picture. Do I HAVE to root it before reflashing?
edit: there is an "update.xml" file in the android.... folder and the phone folder. Which one do I use?

In the Rogers rom file, there should be two zip files in there.
- android_1233-6929_R11A_R1FA014.zip
- phone.zip
Now
- Unzip the flashtool first, and then unzip the phone.zip to the flashtool folder and replace any files it prompts.
- Unzip android_1233-6929_R11A_R1FA014.zip and replace any files it prompts.
- Rename or delete System.sin and userdata.sin inside the flashtool folder.
- Rename system_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE.sin to system.sin
- Rename userdata_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE.sin to userdata.sin
Try to flash the phone again see if this will work (Just tried it yesterday, it worked for me.)

Decrypting Roms

Hi All,
I seem to remember there being a guide to decrypting roms for the x10.
I've saved a backup of my oz optus firmware from pc companion and was hoping to make an unecrypted version of it to be used with flashtool.
I've tried searching and I simply cannot find the guide to unencrypt (That's if memory serves me correctly and it even exists.)
Could someone please point me in the right direction.
Cheers

This link might should be what your looking for - title has changed a few times
Does anyone know how to do it tho? I downloaded the "tool to partially decrypt" but it doesn't show any instructions or anything.. Just a bunch of files..
That tool won't decrypt the ROM. I will decrypt it soon (read: when I get access to my external HDD).
With that said lollylost, Do you need me to upload the two files somewhere?
Main reason I wanted to decrypt it was to extract the optus my account apk as its not available on either the market or the optus.com.au website.
And yeah i'd allready downloaded the decompression tools. Lollylost, have you got some sort of application or even a guide on how to decrypt the firmwares?
Would be nice if you could upload the firmware since all my firmwares are on the inaccessible HDD.
Hey guys, maybe u can help me...
i flashed my x10i with flashtool to the R2BA(shipped) Rom ok,
but now id like to flash it back to my old .16 Rom which i had before on ma device, it is a unbranded .16 version, id like to flash it back cuz i want to make later if hopefully the new R2BA for free devices comes out in SEUS to flash it officially,
ive saved my original files: 2 files :111Mb , the other : 16Mb
but how do i flash it back !? with flashtool its not possible i guess isnt it ?
ive tried flashing with seus by changing files in the db folder (by the way is there somewhere a description how to do that exactly ? )but it doesnt seem to work...
pls guys i need ya help

Reflashing has been covered before but since I had trouble with it I feel for you so i'll post my lil guide
Hopefully its allowable to link to file on other sites (If not can a mod feel free to edit this post and I'll create a pdf guide if thats okay).
EDIT: Turns out as a new user I can't link to external sites and services. With that in mind if you do a google search for "download SEUS" and scroll down till you see the sony ericcson site, you should be okay.
Step 1
Download SEUS if you dont allready have it (NOT pcCompanion that a different program)
Step 2
Using SEUS, run your phone through a repair. That means let SEUS download firmware and install it to your phone.
Step3
When using SEUS the db folder will be in C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\YOURIMEINUMBERGOESHERE\blob_fs
Find the two largest files in that folder select it so its highlighted & press F2 on the keyboard to rename the file. The filename will now be highlighted. Press <Ctrl> + <C> to copy the file name to your clipboard, press <ESC> to cancel the rename.
Now that you have copied the Filename to your clipboard, locate where you saved your original firmware files and highlight the largest one. Press <F2> again and this time press <Ctrl> + <V> . This will paste the new filename onto your firmware.
Do the same for the second largest file.
Step 4
With the file rename complete, you can now copy the two files you just rename into your C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\YOURIMEINUMBERGOESHERE\blob_fs folder.
Step 5
Run through the repair again with SEUS however this time when SEUS says its downloading it will take a matter of seconds and then flash your original firmware back onto your phone.
Step 6
ALL DONE Enjoy your original firmware.
Lollylost: I tried to upload files and it crapped out about 50% of the way through.
I did notice that there was once an SEUS plugin that you had uploaded to hotfile that did the decrypt on the fly, is it still possible to get this plugin so i can finally extract the my account.apk and get on with rooting my phone?
Cheers

[GUIDE] Decrypting your own branded ROM

Fastest way to decrypt your own branded ROM by Binary

You can also use the new tool here. Usage:
SEUSDECRYPT.BAT FILE_XXXXXXXX -> That gives you a FILE_XXXXXX.tgz -> Unzip -> Then Untar the File which comes out
If you SEUSDECRYPT the small 64kb File you get directly the loader.sin no need to unzip and untar

You may find the ConvertTools below.. This is just sick
Old way of decrypting ROM
Below is the guide to decrypting ROM which comes from SEUS. By following this guide, you will have your branded ROM decrypted as SIN files and later you can flash back the ROM to X10 with flashtools. So you can root and debrand all you like without worry because later you can flash your branded ROM back to your X10.
Tools:
jerpelea SIN Reconstructor
http://hotfile.com/dl/52847024/13749f6/SIN_Reconstructor.rar.html
Requirement:
Your Xperia X10 must have the any version of the branded ROM installed first. If you already rooted or debranded it, you must rebrand it with your ROM first. See other threads about how to achieve this. The SIN Reconstructor tools cannot be used to extract the tho downloaded ROM files directly.
Step 1. Getting the extracted ROM from SUES
Task: Getting the targeted ROM files ready to be flashed with SEUS.
Do an update with SEUS to get your latest branded ROM, and let the ROM to be flashed to your X10. After this you will have the two files in SEUS db ready and next flashing, you don't need to download anymore and SEUS will flash it directly for you.
Task: Installing the extractor files to SEUS
Inside SIN Reconstructor, you will find com.sonyericsson.cs.usbflashnative_2.10.6.24.jar in seus directory. Backup your usbflashnative.jar from your SEUS plugin's directory somewhere else first, then copy the com.sonyericsson.cs.usbflashnative_2.10.6.24.jar file to plugin directory and then rename to the one you back up just now.
Task: Extracting ROM with dump0
Now you create a file in SEUS root. You need to create a file name dump0, make sure its dump0, not dump0.txt if you create the file using notepad and rename it. The run the SEUS update again. This will reflash your X10 then afterward, you get a lot of sign and bin files in SEUS root directory. Then you move the file somewhere else first
Task: Extracting ROM with dump1
Same as above but now you need a file name dump1, and the file dump0 must not exists in SEUS directory. After you are finished with reflash, you will have a lot of sign and bin files again, then move somewhere else.
Step 2. Identifying the bin and sign files
Because the extracted rom files are named in number, you need to identify and rename them first. When renaming, you need to rename pair of sign and bin files to the designated name.
When making SIN files, you only need to create this file below:
amss.sin
boot.sin
dsp1.sin
recovery.sin
system.sin
userdata.sin
The rest of SIN files is the same with other debranded SIN files you downloaded before which are:
amss_fs.sin
apps-log.sin
cache.sin
fota0.sin
fota1.sin
How to identify is very easy, find the file and the rename
amss file size is about 15Mb
boot file size is about 5.1Mb
dsp1 file size is about 8Mb
recovery file size is about 5.4Mb and bigger then boot.sign
system file size is the largest
userdata file size is 4Kb
When you have all this pairs renamed, copy them to SIN Extractor files directory.
Then we need to recheck the rebuild.cmd against the sign file size. Guides taken from rebuild.cmd
Code:
@echo off
@echo sizes are adjustable for every sign file
@echo if your file size differs from mine
@echo adjust count= vith the value obtained from
@echo size of .sign file -17 and correct the value
@pause
@echo amss.sin
@..\tools\dd if=../files/amss.sign bs=1 skip=13 count=4074>amss.sin
@..\tools\cat ../files/amss.bin >>amss.sin
Meaning that if the amss.sign file size is for example 5017, then you need to change the count into 5000.
If you finished to this step, you have the you decrypted rom almost ready, all you need to do is copy the amss_fs.sin, apps-log.sin, cache.sin, fota0.sin, fota1.sin from other debrand ROM you downloaded.
Then you have your decrypted ROM ready. Mission accomplished
For those asking why dump0 and dump1 will create same files, except for extra 8699.bin and 8699.sign, i just recreate the dump guide, i don't know if you just do with dump1 straightaway will get you the same thing if you do dump0 and dump1. too lazy to test.
Both Dump0 and Dump1 present will work
i really dont gettin over it,
could you please be so nice and do the decrypting of my A1 ( Austria) files?
kind regards DAuL
is not that i don't want to help. but decrypting rom requires you to flash your x10 with the targeted rom first. which means i need to reflash mine and do the whole thing again.
which part of the process give you.trouble. i'll help you solve it.

Wow, that's good for you. Where is this exploit root method discussion anyway. Seems that i missed the posts. Even though i doubt i will use the exploit to root SingTel firmware now which is still a R2BA020 fw. hahaha.
we are couple steps behind the other, because the fw contains SingTel Timescape Live Traffic Update mods.

It's here:
X10 Mini/Pro Root Method
You probably missed it because you thought it was about the X10 Mini/Pro. Actually, it started with instructions for using the new "exploid" root for the Mini, but then it was discovered that it also works (as is) with the X10.
The good thing about this root method is that you don't have to debrand or downgrade in order to use it. In other words, you can stay with whatever ROM you currently have and not have to lose apps, contacts, SMS, etc. But of course you can also debrand it and then root it if you want (which is nice if you want the latest firmware).
EDIT: Oops, MrKingLouie already posted the link.

[TUT] E10a/E10i: decrypt .sin files, downgrade, pre-root, xRecovery, update.zip

EDIT: I have slightly modified this guide for it to be more useful for all X10 Mini users, not only for E10a users but for E10i users too. Enjoy!
This is a guide for flashing an E10a X10 Mini with a pre-rooted, xRecovery-enabled update.zip file by using the xRecovery tool for X10 Mini.
WARNING: THE UPDATE.ZIP FILE LINKED TO IN THIS GUIDE IS ONLY FOR AN E10A X10 MINI, FOR EXAMPLE DEVICES WHICH CURRENTLY RUN ON FIRMWARE VERSION 2.0.1.A.0.47 - IF YOU USE THIS GUIDE WITH AN E10I YOU WILL NEED TO USE YOUR OWN UPDATE.ZIP, WHICH YOU CAN EITHER CREATE USING aZuZu's SMALL KITCHEN OR WHICH YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FROM ANOTHER THREAD.
DISCLAIMER: Use at your own risk! This guide is provided WITH NO GUARANTEE that it will work. I am not responsible if you brick/destroy your phone. Follow these steps CLOSELY and DO NOT PM me if you are having problems. If it doesn't work, it's because you didn't follow the guide correctly. MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, OR PLEASE WAIT FOR AN EASIER WAY OF ROOTING YOUR PHONE.
BEFORE you begin following these steps, MAKE SURE that you've read ALL OF THEM twice over, that you UNDERSTAND their implications, and that you have DOWNLOADED EVERYTHING that you need (THIS INCLUDES the files and tools that you must download in the guides that this guide links you to)!
1. Acquire your phone's decrypted .sin files:
[1.a] Run SEUS (a.k.a. Sony Ericsson Update Service) to flash your phone, then copy the "FILE_xxxxxxxxx" files (there are 3 - approximately 64KB, 14MB and 112MB) from "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\[8 numbers]\blob_fs\" to a folder where you will work with them.
[1.b] Download Bin4ry's ConvertTool.zip and extract the files into the same folder as your files.
[1.c] Open up a command prompt (run cmd) and navigate to your work folder using the "cd" command.
[1.d] Run SEUSDECRYPT.BAT as explained in the guide linked to in step [1.a] to obtain your decrypted .sin files. CLARIFICATION: For the two largest files, rename the .tgz files to .zip files, then use WinRAR to extract the files within those .zip files. The .sin files are inside of the .tgz files WITHIN the zip files. Then, for the smaller 64kb file, Run it through SEUSDECRYPT.BAT like the two other files, but simply rename it to loader.sin and put it with your other .sin files in the next step.
[1.e] The files have a long file name and must be renamed to shorter names (i.e. rename them to only the beginning of their original file names). Use the Nordic file names downloaded in step [2.a] as a template to know for sure what you need to rename them to. Once renamed, copy ONLY the files that you need (there should be 9: amss_fs.sin, amss.sin, cache.sin, fota0.sin, fota1.sin, kernel.sin, loader.sin, simlock.ta, userdata.sin) into one folder. MAKE SURE that you EXCLUDE system.sin, as copying it along with your other .sin files will OVERWRITE YOUR WORK later in this guide! Instead of system.sin, we will be using update.zip SEPARATELY (which is the sole purpose of this guide!)
[1.f] If you choose to create your own update.zip file using aZuZu's Small Kitchen in step [3.a], then keep your system.sin file elsewhere for future use.
2. Flash your phone with the Nordic firmware (ONLY IF you currently CAN NOT root your phone) [2.a], root it with z4root [2.b], and install xRecovery [2.c]:
[2.a] If z4root does not work on the firmware currently installed on your phone, you will need to "downgrade" to a firmware that you can root. Here is a shortcut to doing so, since you won't be using the firmware that you will be "downgrading" to once you are finished. follow Bin4ry's guide to flash your phone to the e10i Nordic firmware, which can be rooted with z4root. Do not worry about your data connection for this step, as you will not be using this firmware once you have finished following this guide. If/when a dialog to enable your data connection pops up, DECLINE.
[2.b] Root your newly flashed Nordic firmware (or your currently installed firmware if you did not need to perform step [2.a]) using z4root (RECOMMENDED: select permanent root). Alternatively, you can simply use Bin4ry's Flashtool (from step [2.a]) which includes z4root.
[2.c] Once your phone is rooted and has rebooted (automatically done by z4root as a final step), follow this guide to install xRecovery on your phone. If the installer application doesn't work, I recommend that you get adb (which is in Bin4ry's FlashTool's "FlashToolRelease" folder) to manually install it, either by following the steps in the aforementioned guide or by doing the following:
1. Copy these 3 files (which you can download from the aforementioned xRecovery guide) to the root of your SD card: busybox, chargemon, xrecovery.tar ... Once these are copied, disable USB file sharing on your phone, but DO NOT disconnect your phone.
2. Run the following command in adb shell, without the quotes: "su" (A dialog from the SuperUser app might/will pop up, select "Allow")
3. Run the following command, without the quotes: "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system"
3. Run the following command, without the quotes: "busybox cp /sdcard/busybox /sdcard/chargemon /sdcard/xrecovery.tar /system/bin/"
4. Run the following command, without the quotes: "mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system"
5. That's it! You've now manually installed xRecovery and can close your adb shell if you want.
3. Install update.zip onto your phone using xRecovery:
[3.a] Download my update.zip file (Alternate link: click here) (this file is only for E10a!! E10i users must either find another update.zip for their phones or create their own using aZuZu's Small Kitchen) and copy it to the root of your SD card. If you know how to check an MD5/SHA256/SHA512 sum, my update.zip has the following hashes:
MD5 sum: 5bd588518921b592b087d3175cff972b
SHA256 sum: 2cabcf01fe3c56f9d287e9a7eb2e4a3c2531cd9e08dd8193604d3f2f8143f6f2
SHA512 sum: 7663b37b47a7170bd8ef99838b3344eeca38e013eae98a1d2c1ba8e61f0c9192a318a39cd7a0589b75041bb3a82ca82ee6339c4894263657b3ec3eeb5c59cf7cAs an alternative to using my update.zip, you can now easily create your own update.zip files with your own system.sin file!
Just use aZuZu's Small Kitchen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897662
E10i users can either download the following update.zip file, or can find another one on their own:
Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 firmware [rooted + xrecovery preinstalled]
[3.b] Make sure that your phone is FULLY CHARGED, then turn your phone off.
[3.c] Turn your phone back on and right after the white Sony Ericsson logo appears, press the BACK (right) button every half-second until the xRecovery menu appears. If the xRecovery menu does NOT appear, then you did NOT install xRecovery correctly.
[3.d] In the xRecovery menu, select the "Install update.zip from SD Card" option, then wait until it says that the operation completed for the xRecovery menu to reappear.
[3.e] DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE YET, as you will need to proceed with the following steps relatively quickly BEFORE rebooting.
4. Place your phone's decrypted .sin files in Bin4ry's FlashTool's "FlashToolRelease" folder [4.a], prepare yourself for flashing these files [4.b], then reboot your phone into flash mode [4.c] and flash your e10a .sin files to your phone [4.d/e]:
[4.*] YOU WILL NEED TO PERFORM STEPS [4.c], [4.d] AND [4.e] QUICKLY, SO DO NOT PROCEED BEFORE HAVING DOWNLOADED THE NECESSARY FILES AND PREPARED YOURSELF FOR THESE STEPS!
NOTE: Users who did not need to flash the Nordic firmware [2.a] do not need to follow any of the following steps and can simply choose the reboot option in the xRecovery menu now. ALL OTHER USERS MUST CONTINUE.
[4.a] Remember step 1? This is where you'll be using those .sin files! Place the folder containing your phone's .sin files into Bin4ry's FlashTool's "FlashToolRelease" folder.
[4.b] Run x10flash.bat, click Flash and select the folder that you just placed, just like in the guide linked to in step [2.a], but DO NOT PRESS OK YET.
[4.c] Select the "Reboot" option on your phone, in the xRecovery menu.
[4.d] Preferably BEFORE the ANIMATED Sony Ericsson logo appears (i.e. while the white Sony Ericsson logo is still there), plug your phone into your computer via USB cable, then press the BACK (right), HOME (middle) and POWER (top) buttons at the SAME TIME and hold them until the phone's GREEN LED is on.
[4.e] In Bin4ry's FlashTool, MAKE SURE that you selected the folder with your phone's .sin files! Click OK in FlashTool and wait for the files to be flashed to your phone. REMEMBER that you should NOT have a system.sin file in your folder or you will have done all of this for nothing!
[4.f] When FlashTool indicates that flashing has completed, unplug your USB cable.
[4.g] Wait 15 seconds. Turn your phone on and wait for it to boot. It may take a while to boot since it will be the first time that you boot since you flashed your phone.
5. Congratulations! You have flashed your X10 Mini with a pre-rooted firmware with xRecovery pre-installed! ENJOY your (and our) hard work! ;-)
Cheers,
uriah
Thank you very much, I will try it next week end.

hen copy the "FILE_xxxxxxxxx" files (there are 3, you will need the two biggest ones - approximately 14MB and 112MB) from "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\[8 numbers]\blob_fs\" to a folder where you will work with them.
Witch File You need putted To Sony Ericsson Update???
I did all the steps, know a lot of things are missing in the tut and I did a litle thing different, but in one step after I unrar the files I did not find loader.sin
I will try do the step of the files again, if I dont post a reply about it is bcs I coud not find the loader.sin
the things that I did different
if I rename tgz to zip I cant open or extract but if I rename to rar I can
and in the tut do not explain that need to use comands in prompt like:
C:\ConvertTool>SeusDecrypt FILE_277756147
but I will be very great if all will work
ed- still problem to find loader.sin, the rest are ok
mini e10a
@ dionei:
- for the seusdecrypt.bat explanation, please refer to step [1.d]/[1.a]:
[1.d] Run SEUSDECRYPT.BAT as explained in the guide linked to in step [1.a] to obtain your decrypted .sin files.
- for the loader.sin file, you're right, I did indeed forget to mention what to do for loader.sin, so I will update the tutorial. please see step [1.d] again.
@ redbike:
you need to find the "FILE_xxxxxxxxx" files inside "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\[8 numbers]\blob_fs\" and copy them to another directory in which you will decrypt these files.
cheers,
uriah
[TUT] Appendix A:
Due i had to make new account and new kitchen thread here is new link to kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925028
it is now "universal" for XPERIA Android phones (still lacks support for x10mini pro due i'm not in that subforum too much. You must admit it is different world, much more devs than in x10 mini subforum).
I've read this a couple of times and i still dont understand the 1st step.
I've got the FILE(s)_xxxxxxxx on the same folder as the convert tool:
C:\ConvertTool\FILE_xxxxx
On cmd i tried and run:
C:\ConvertTool>SEUSDECRYPT.BAT FILE_XXXXXXXX
SEUSDECRYPT FILE_XXXXXXXX
Im probably doing something wrong so if you could help me i would be grateful.
Found the solution ignore.

Hi....
To decrypt SE files, I´ve tried with flashtool in avanced-->decrypt and it seems ok
With flashtool you don´t need convertfiles nor rename files to .zip....
Flashtool converts "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\[8 numbers]\blob_fs\xxxxx..." into xxxxx.sin files directly.
flashtool link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
sorry for my english

xrecovery not workin
Spent a whole evening trying to get xRecovery to work on a X10 Mini, used the 0.3 installer, the 1.0 installer, removed everything, copied the 3 files (and also tried moving) with root explorer, changed permissions, removed everything, tried X10 flashtool: cannot boot into xRecovery mode!
Believe me: I'm not new to flashing android phones, I read every forumpost on the subject, I cannot get this to work.
I did upgrade to the latest SE firmware 2.1-update 1 (build nr 2.1.1.A.0.6), maybe that's blocking xRecovery somehow?
Any ideas?
Elio

[Q] convert .zip to .ftf

I have download firmware in .zip format. in my pc i have install WINRAR. this shown only zip. if i extract there i not find .ftf file. i try to rename but its shown zip. how i change get .ftf file. plz reply me
an .ftf file is just a zip-file with a different extension, just rename it, right-click on it and change .zip to .ftf
I believe you have not open the option to see the extention of your file. open it in your windows, then you can change it. or, just use mobile phone explorer to do it.
c3poyoda said:
you are not suppose to change the file. zip is zip, not ftf. It is like you changed cloth but you are not becoming to another person.
If you do need ftf format, download only ftf, not the zip.

Hi,
The flashtool didn't recognise the file after renaming it as described by you. Is there another way to get this done?

The built-in Windows Archiver used to zip folders doesn't use the proper format for files that need to be flashed. You should use Winrar or 7-zip if you have unpacked the zip-files.
If you've just downloaded the files without unpacking them, just rename them to .ftf without unpacking. Because your browser recognises the .ftf's as .zip-files it renames them on download-completion, simply renaming them back will solve your issues.

Sometimes you download a zip, you have to extract its files and then, create the ftf file with flashtool, using the option...tools/bundle creation. Try doing that.

[Q] Edit FTF or files from XperiFirm ?

Hello guys! Is there any way to edit the FTF file (or the files downloaded from XperiFirm) in order to completely remove a specific app from the vendor folder so that it wont appear after flashing the FTF?

No. Once a FTF file has been extracted it can't be recompiled into a workable FTF again.
Just root your phone, at the very most it'll take 45 minutes to get it back to where you had it customized before.
