Unknown Address Text Messages - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some odd strange reasons, my text messages are coming in with with the pop up notication from handcent. They scroll across the notifivation bar as they should. But when I go to to the text messages, its not in their thread. Its in a thread from UnknownAddress and it displays a blank message there.
If I go away from my pop up, I wont be able to read the text message at all. The drop down notification window shows new blank text from UnknownAddress
I provided a picture for visual referals.

[Q] messaging

How to i stop my phone from repeating vocally each message I receive, using obsidian 4.2 with launcher pro. Thanks
I assume you are refering to text.messaging...
Are you using a third party messaging app and getting doubke notifications? If so go into the stock messaging app and disable notifications. Your post is kind of vague, but this may solve your problem.
EDIT: just re-read your post. If it its the volume you are concerned with just turn the notification volume down.

I did mean text message and do not want people to hear my text messages. I would like to disable this function. The function being when I get a text message it tells the world vocally what the contents of the text message is. thanks

Text messages not being marked as read?

Using stock HTC Messages app. Everytime I get a text message and open up the app (whether through the notification bar or the app icon on my homescreen) once I click the back button to go back to the text messages list it still shows the unread bubble. I have to tap into the text message thread again and back out for it to be marked read.
Anyone else have this problem/and or a solution to this?
yep, and it's super annoying =(
When your done reading the text/msg try hitting menu and select mark as read
Locked & Loaded
" Shooter on Deck"

Lockscreen mod?

I was wondering if it is possible to actually show the text message and person that sent it in the lock screen. I find it annoying having to unlock the device, open messaging app, wait for app to load, select new text message to read it all.
I would much rather be able to see the entire message on the lock screen itself.
Same goes for missed calls. I would rather see the called that I missed than seeing Missed Calls: 1
Anyone have any ideas?
SMS popup. Free from the market. Download it.

App to wake device with text message/email pop up

I like the fact that my iphone wakes up with new text messages and emails, with a pop up that shows the email summary or full text message...is there an app in the android market that does this..
i have found pop up notification apps, but they just show that you have an email, doesnt show the email summary or full text message in the pop up...
Go sms pro is a plugin for the go launcher ex, a highly customizable homepage and laucher app. It will give a pop up text reply window for incoming SMS/email/Facebook etc. You can configure which ones pop up on your lock screen with check boxes. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Screen on notification

Is there a way to disable the screen from turning on when a notification is received? When I go to pull the note out I'm either hitting random keys on a text or dialing something. Is there a way to stop that?

First things first..I assume you are sending a recieving text messages, so here is my question. What app do you use for texting handcent or go sms....
for example I use handcent ass my messaging app so in the settings of handcent this is how you disable the screen on when you receive a notification.
Setting>Notification settings>Notificaton Settings (again) >scroll down and a box will be there were you can turn on/off the screen when you receive a message using the pop up option.
Idk if this helped but.. if anything let me know what apps your using or the version of android your running. The more info you post the more we can help you. Thanks
