Hi People,
Recently I have had loads of low or no signal at all issues. This seems to have happened after a HD2 binge of 4 hours while the phone was on charge.
I have tried flashing several roms and radios but no luck. Have now reverted back to stock with little success.
Any ideas of where I could buy a new antenna? Or any suggestions?
Thanks
Can you not send it in for repair? Surley they wouldnt charge you as its their problem.
Wish I could!
I replaced the LCD myself, which meant the warranty stickers are gone, i tried to save them but it ripped when i took it off. Im pretty sure they would pick up on it.

I checked out a few other threads, on a couple forums and dont think anyone has been stupid enough to do this so far...
about 4 months ago, I was lost and my phone was dead, having bodged a car charger together I plugged it in.
The phone turned on, booted up and I got the SatNav software running, but before I could drive off it started flashing.. screen, lights, like a tiny disco....
Then it smoked, quite a lot for a second or two, by this time I'd took battery out and dis-connected the charger but it was too late, the phone was dead.
I got home, put the battery in a desktop charger til it was full and the phone has remained at it's current condition since.
So; it won't turn on, vibrate or flash any lights. The ONLY thing it does, is power up the right hand side bottom white light between the home key and back button.
I've been Ebaying since the day I killed it for a spares one, tried buying a main board but no joy anywhere without paying over £70 (and that's for a complete but knackered handset).
My dad's good with phones, his mate better also both of which said i've burnt out some chips. Some do kinda, have small 'holes' in, and I wiped a 2GB card too, wont work in anything else.
Without spending silly amounts on a new phone can I not do anything with this? Apparently everything except the main board should work (screen, digitizer etc)..
Help anyone please? -ta.
I suggest that you contact your local support team because I think this is something that needs to be examined at a repair center.

I dropped my X10a, and cracked the screen/digitizer. Is it easier to replace the whole housing or just the digitizer? Any suggestions on which company supplies OEM parts at the best prices?

Hey guys you are probably tired of answering this same question but I will ask it anyways.
I was having a problem with my phone restarting constantly till it simpily wouldn't turn on, I got the motherboard replaced and now it still restarts constantly, I bought a new battery hoping that it might fix the issue and also went back to a stock rom and kernal to see if it was a software issue...
The phone acts up mostly when on the net with it... doesn't matter if it is pluged in or not.
Hopeing that maybe some of you might have some other ideas as to what else I can try, aside from smashing it into a million pieces, which I don't want to do as I really love this phone.
I had the same problem and I sent it for warranty and they changed the board.
Good luck.
Hi guys I have a problem I can't seem to solve I never use Wifi as I have no need for it because I'm on unl data but I needed it today for an app well my Wifi doesn't turn on at all it says error I'm not rooted and in rocking an extended battery cover

Have you not tried flashing anything whatsoever and are 100% Gingerbread stock? I saw you asking about the leaked ICS builds. The WiFi "error" message is common when flashing the kernel, have to do it twice to make sure it takes it.

If you are not rooted and 100% stock. then perhaps you set wifi incorrectly.

Very odd it would have those problems fully stock. Did you get it from an authorized seller or Verizon new, or did you get a CLN Verizon replacement or buy it secondhand from elsewhere? Could still be an issue with a bad flash by a previous owner if the latter holds true.
Well I was about to suggest running an .exe version of a Gingerbread RUU from this thread, which should correct any errors, but you'll need to back up all internal SD data and put it back on the phone memory due to wiping. And re-download all your apps and reconfigure all your customizations, etc.
And just to toss it out there, third party extended battery covers may have shoddy antennas or none at all. Suggested you check all connections against the stock backplate layout. Should still not wind up with a straight "error" message that way, though...
if the RUU tidying up the software don't fix it, that may just be straight hardware damage. Killed my WiFi and bluetooth on my iPod touch a while back with some liquid and got the same symptoms.

thanks for all the help I pretty much did everything here before making the thread I checked the cover saw the metal made sure everything clicked compared my extended battery cover to the regular cover but everything seemed the same, tried the extended battery and regular battery but same problem no wifi connection giving me an error it's already fixed I fixed it by upgrading to the ICS leak and now i can connect to wifi no problem I was started to think it was hardware wise from a drop or something but nope it was somehow software idk how it got messed up since I was 100% stock, well thanks once again for your help and I feel you on the ipod same thing happened to me after going snowboarding, I went to mamoth and I was snowboarding and I had my ipod on one of the gazillion pockets of my jacket when I got to the cabin I was tripping out of where I left my ipod (had barely bought it) so I was looking all over the cabin untill I stuck my hand inside my open pocket and there was my ipod with a bunch of Melted ice submerged on water my headphone jack got messed up so no matter the pair of headphones I couldn't hear from one side and wifi got messed up so I fixed the ipod at apple store and I stepped on it 2 months later breaking the screen I refixed it again, and one day I was messing around with my little sister and I was holding half her body over a swimming pool and to "rescue her" my other lil sis pushed me into the pool and my ipod got messed up again and the extra casulty was my OG droid may it RIP (tried to turn it on later after putting it on rice only for it burn and the screen get foggy) after that I said F this ish and never bought an ipod again :\ and I was stuck with a crappy black berry for like 3 months before getting the rezound... wow mini essay going on here...

ha what can i say high school didn't teach me how to write well... (true story) (now in college I need to take a specific class that teaches me how to write, :\ )
Hey XDA!
I'm having an issue with my Galaxy S2 I9100. Basically the problem started a while ago when I dropped it and the screen shattered. I wasn't willing to get the screen replaced so I bought a replacement screen off of eBay and replaced it myself. At first it seemed to be in complete working order and everything was going great. However, over time I got an issue of the phone turning off and me having to restart it. It would come at the most random times too, I would be going about my business and the phone just randomly turned off. The problem progressed and got worse and worse and the shut downs would be more frequent. I remedied the problem by keeping the phone plugged into the A/C adapter and it wouldn't shut down while it was charging. It got worse however, and I could barely turn on the phone without it completely shutting down after a few seconds, and even when it was charging it would still turn off. So basically my question is how can I fix this? Is it a hardware problem and something that I shouldn't try to fix because its not worth it? I tried even resetting the phone to factory settings and everything I had in my knowledge to fix it but nothing would work. Would it be just worth it to sell it as spares? Thanks for helping me out!
That sound like the battery is dying, not the device.
Get a genuine samsubg battery and try it out.

Allright, the battery seems to have expanded a bit as well I should note, so that may be causing the problem. I have a friend with the same phone so I'll try his battery to see if it makes a difference.
Swap it & share the outcome with us.

Battery expansion is a sure sign that the battery needs replacing, and the other symptoms you describe are common to a failed battery too........
If the battery has expanded, that is an indication of a build up of gasses within the cell.....the battery is now pressurised....it could physically fail at any time....best to take it out and throw it away before it leaks fluid all over the inside of your phone. Further charging will only serve to increase the risk of failure.

Oh god I feel so stupid now lol. Yeah I tried it with another battery and the phone works completely fine nothing wrong with it. I guess I'm gonna order a replacement battery off of eBay tonight and sell my phone once it arrives. Thanks so much guys! :good:
Just for future reference however, how is the battery expansion caused and what are some ways to prevent it? Thanks again.
'Old age'. You can't. When the battery begins to expand & feel 'squishy', it's time for a new one.
Over the last few days my out of warranty Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB has been freezing and rebooting all by itself. This morning the incidences got more frequent until it shut down and won't reboot.
I plugged it into the wall charger but no joy, no charging lights etc...
I left the battery out for five minutes, put it back in but it's still dead.
Took it to a store and tried a brand new battery. Still dead.
Going online, I see that many people have been having freezing/rebooting issues, followed by dead S3's.
I've tried a few old wives tricks I found online. None of them work.
Online research shows heaps of people have had this problem, something to do with the motherboard.
So I went on Ebay looking for a replacement motherboard. I have questions.
1. My phone was bought in New Zealand, to run on the 2 degrees 3/4G network. If I swap to another NZ network sim it will work.
Does this mean I have an unlocked phone? So do I have to buy an unlocked motherboard or can I buy an ex Verizon, Sprint etc.... motherboard?
2. Heaps of the motherboards advertised have 'bad esn'. what does that mean and can it be easily fixed?
3. Is there anything else I should know?

Read all the sudden death threads we have here.
You should also be very specific about the exact model you have.
