Alright, I've searched for the last hour for this exact issue, and have not found anyone with it..
Problem: When I put my 16GB Micro SD card into my Vibrant, it no longer says that it's reading the card in the notification bar.
BUT!
If I go to the "files" folder, i can go to "SD" and i can open my movies, my "MUSIC" folder, and listen/watch all of them from there.. But when I go to "MUSIC PLAYER" it says "NO SONGS"....... So my SD card works, I can add/remove/watch/listen to everything on it on my computer AND my phone, it just won't auto-sync it to my music library or video/photo gallery on my Vibrant..
Sorry if this IS somewhere else, just couldn't find it =[
Please help! If all else fails I will have to x-fer my files and try to reformat the SD card, but id rather not have to x-fer 13gbs of music/movies =/
Thanks!

Hey Guys ..
I am playing around with my G-Tablet and for some reason I am unable to access and play/stream the music that I put on my External MicroSD card.
The only way I could listen to them is if I copy them to the folder called "sdcard/music".
I am currently running VEGAn-TAB ROM BETA 5.1. I tried the regular music program as well as Winamp .. and neither let me play the music straight off the micro sd card.
PLEASE HELP!
thank you in advance!
Strange, I have a similar problem in that music copied from a Flash drive to the sdcard/music folder will not be recognized by the Music App.
GL wit a solution
Make sure you do a reboot with Vegan-Tab after loading music. It won't show up otherwise. Also, if you added the .nomedia file to protect the data, it seems to prevent the tablet from scanning the SD Card.
Ok .. Im confused .. This is what I did ..
1) Copied my music to "SDCARD/MUSIC" folder .. unit had no problem playing the music.
2) After it was still on the external sd card under "SDCARD2/MUSIC" I removed the music that was copied from original internal memory (see #1) folder and then rebooted and music player or winamp would not read my music!
Ok - so basically my unit doesn't recognize the music from the external sd card! please help !!!
HMMMM .. wait .. I just rebooted again and for some reason its working now !! I think my G-Tablet is Possessed .. No matter, Im returning it to Woot anyway because I have a pixel out .. They are sending my new one Wednesday .. Hopefully I don't have this issue with the new one!
Thanks for the help!
I found that if you unmount the SD and then re-mount it the music won't show up until the tablet is rebooted and then it shows up again. I'm also useing Vegan 5.1.1 and that's what I've found. I also noticed that after mounting the SD card that the settings for performing this change to unmount in progress AFTER I have selected mount the sd, very odd
My external SD card was working fine, had about 16Gb of Music on it. Tonight it has stopped working and is coming up with an error saying "SD card blank or has unsupported file" (I assume it means file system).
I put it into a converter and plugged into PC, Windows reported that SD card also had unsupported file system and asked to format it.
Is there a way to fix this? I really don't want to format the card and then copy all that music back on
Happened to me twice. You can try recuva to find files.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Same here mate. I had a **** load of pics and music. I couldnt find a way around it so....i had to format the SD card...so painful
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
Happened to me about 3 months ago, was changing from Checkrom to Krinyo's SlimRom. No apps on my ext SD.
No idea why/how/what happened, but I'd made a backup my SD to my pc. You guys didn't.

Click to collapse
I have this problem sometimes too.
When I look in my "My Little Pony" folder it only shows up to Episode 20, even though there's 52 Episodes (51 files since E51 and E52 are together as the Canterlot Wedding).
Since a few days, it seems like my phone doesn't allow me to write to my external sd card...
I got no clue why it suddenly changed, but i'm trying to fix my permissions of my storage map to what it was, but everytime i reboot my phone my permissions getting reset to those from before..
But a few seconds after my startup it looks like the sd card is fixed and i can take pictures, but then a few seconds later my pictures cant be moved to my sd card anymore... so it looks like theres a program or some settings or something else overwriting this
Also tried googeling this problem, but never realy found an answer, hopefully some1 can help me out..
ps. my sd card still functioning well, i can still listen to music and watch to the movies that were on my sd card..
happened to me.
format the card
I'd noticed a corrupt file was keeping my external SD from functioning correctly, so I:
took it out
inserted into my PC
deleted the file
moved everything off
formatted it
moved everything back on
put the card back in
The phone then noticed it was inserted, went through scanning, etc, so I thought I was ok. Then I went to look at my photos & they weren't there. So I looked at the storage, & it says, "insert SD card for mounting." If I take it out & re-insert it, the phone notices that it's there, & scans, etc, but I can't, for example, even create a folder w/ES File Explorer. I also can't use the phone's "erase SD card" utility.
I can read the card & move files on/off via my PC no problem. Anyone ever seen/been through something like this?
