The official o2 2.1 update has bricked my streak
Well I say bricked, it won't get past the dell logo. I can get into fastboot and recovery but both stock recovery and clockworkmod but I can't update the SD card with the original stock rom to unbrick it. As its bricked I can't get into the OS to mount the SD card. I can flash via fastboot but not sure of a command that will allow me to flash to the sdcard. I have tried fastboot -i 0x413c flash sdcard update.pkg/zip but this doesn't work. From what I can tell you can only flash to the internal memory? Any ideas?
Thanks
Rob
Same thing has happened to me. The official 2.1 update rebooted after install and can't get past the Dell logo screen.
I have tried all the recovery roms various Update.pkg.'s no luck....
All can't boot past Dell screen. :-( bricked? Thanks o2...
Streak was unrooted, no custom roms, or recovery images had been done. What pita....

Ok a big f*ck you to O2. But I'm back in business.
M4D4, if you're still stuck this is what you need to do.
Get a micro SD card reader
Put your SD card into the reader
Download the stock 1.6 rom from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6KBABM67
Rename this to update.pkg and copy it onto your SD card
Insert the SD card into the streak
Hold BOTH the volume up AND volume down buttons while holding the power buttons
Now you will be in recovery mode, navigate up and down using the volume buttons. Navigate to number 2 'update software via update.pkg'
Press the camera shutter button ALL THE WAY in
A new screen will ask you to confirm, press the shutter again
Leave the streak updating until it boots into the home screen (note - it will stay at the dell logo a lot longer than usual as it is rewriting the dalvik cache but should take no longer than 10 minutes)
Pat yourself on the back and flip O2/Dell the bird
Yep I think Lots of people have had the same prob - me included -
Follow the above instructions and it should be ok.
use a micro SD reader to upload the DELL version of 1.6 (no others will work) to the root of the card.
Reboot - mine took extra long to come back up... sticks at DELL logo... be patient.
Once thats working - copy the 2.1 ver "Update.pkg" to the SDCARD reboot it again and 2.1 will install.
Turn on by holding down both vol buttons and ON button.
Select option 2 - update from SDCard, screen txt should be blue.
Press the camera button - it should then install 2.1
Once it all reboots - wait for some time (I thought mine had bricked again) paused for a while on the DELL logo, then it came to life... 2.1 up and running
Been stable since then, but there is some lag when selecting apps for the home screen that is a bit crap. Mine was quick before.
Although photos feels a lot quicker
I'm using the leaked 8023 build with the buildrop from 8105.

Hey guys I know this wasn't the right thing to do but it happened....
I was using macnut R10 and was having calling problems, decided to restore a back up which was a bionix 2.1 rom... Because you cant go from a 2.2 rom back to 2.1 rom with a backup because the kernel wont work my phone now will not boot. It loads the both splash screens but gets stuck at the 2nd screen.
I have tried:
1: adb... no devices connected
2: put bionix w/ kernel on the sd card as a update.zip... rebooted the phone holding vol up/down it went into the stock style recovery and gave me the 4 options (reboot/flash update/wipe data/wipe cache) I tried to flash the update.zip and it says:
finding update
opening update
cannot open update (/sdcard/update.zip) no directory/file found
I also wiped data and cache after this and when I reboot (only the first reboot after this is done) on the 2nd splash screen it plays half of the bionix boot sound then cuts it off and just sits...
EDIT: *** just realized why its not finding the update.zip... because I put it on the ext sd card... but either way I cant adb to push it to the internal sd card
3: then I tried to flash back to stock with odin but cannot get into download mode... I plugged the usb in and held vol up/down as I powered on but it just brings me back to the stock recovery instead of download mode
If anyone knows what I can do to either flash a rom/kernel or get into download mode so I can just flash back to stock, I'm all ears for any suggestions
thanks a lot for any suggestions in advance...
Take battery out then plug in usb then hold volume buttons while you place battery back in you should be in download mode hope it helps
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
Try getting into Download mode using the GT-i9000 way, cause I once screwed my phone up and did that, just do a simple search on how to enter download mode the i9000 way

Moving to Q&A
got it working now got an Os splash screen but it works this is how i did it
HOW TO RESTORE YOUR STREAK BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION:
Option 1.
1. Download the stock recovery ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61659279/506ac...stock.img.html) and the stock official Dell ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61663686/7d7e5...99_21.pkg.html).
2. Rename the stock official Dell ROM 'Update.pkg' and put it in the root directory on your SD card.
3. Boot Streak in fast boot mode (hold camera button when turning on), press 'Fast boot Mode' button, wait 10 seconds then connect to your PC (must have Dell PC suite installed).
4. Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder where your 'fast boot-windows.exe' is stored.
5. Type 'fastboot-windows.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery c:\recovery.stock.img' . Make sure the .img file is in c:\ directory. The program will now update the recovery image on your Streak.
6. Once the phone reads 'Recovery Done', remove the battery and insert it again.
7. Boot Streak in Recovery mode (hold down vol up and vol down when turning on) and select option 2.
5. Wait till it installs and it'll boot into Android....DONE!
Option 2
Place update.pkg on SD card root folder
Power up streak whilst holding both volume buttons
Select option 2 - "software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card" by pressing camera button
Press camera button again Job done
i think later tonight i'll try to upgrade to 2.2 wish me luck and thanks for all your help EDRILL
i spend a whole night now to get android work on my hd2. had the same error message...
now i know why it didn't work and the solution was dead easy i had to beat myself...
sd card has to be FAT not FAT32
after formatting the card this way, everything works fine ^^
Are you sure it has to be FAT? I have heard there are restrictions on this format that would make it impracticle to use on a 16gb microsd.
Also how you format to fat? my computer only has 2 options to format: Fat32 and exfat.
FAT can only allocate up to 2 gigabytes of storage so there is something dodgy about that explanation.
ok i think ive come to a conclusion that if i want to flash a regular rom like 351 i need to flash a amss file and a dsp1 file...before i flash the recovery and update....can someone conferm this???
also if thats the case is this something that should be done with 1.9
im having problems with both and my phone is now a paper weight please help me noone is helping me with any problems here!!
You're likely not getting answers because the information is in your instruction manual and on the forums. But, this should help you anyway.
To install 351, or for that matter, ANY official Dell ROM...
1. Download the 351 update package from here. Place said package on the root of the MicroSD card and rename to "update.pkg".
2. Shut down the phone.
3. Place the phone into recovery mode by holding both the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time while holding down the power button. Let go of the power button when the Dell logo appears.
4. If done properly, you should see a menu in white letters on a black background. This is recovery mode. In the menu that should appear there should be an option to flash an update package. Select this option using the volume up and down buttons to highlight your choice and the camera button to select. The Streak should automatically find the update package you put on the MicroSD in step 1 and install it. After that, it's a matter of patience and waiting for the process to finish.
If your recovery image is screwed up, search for multirecoveryflasher on the forums. From there you should be able to install a recovery image easily enough.

yes i am....
Ok, did you flash one of the stock recovery images, or one of the two that were modded (Streakmod and Clockworkmod)? I would restore one of the default images, whichever one was last on your phone, then do the update.
The fact you can get into fastboot means the phone isn't bricked, so that's good news.

i've flashed 351 recovery and i kept gettin the boot loop....then i flashed the 345 and same thing....then i flashed streakmod and flashed 1.9 and i get the same lock ups when i boot and boot loops.....
also
when my phone is in data mode and i try and reboot it that causes alot of problems with loading idk why but that might help
Download the update.pkg and the recovery again. They may have been corrupted. Then pull all the data off your external SD Card and do a full format (FAT32) on it. Once the format is complete load the update.pkg to the phone and try again.
I have tried to get back to an older ROM on my streak 5 (from CM7) and I did the usual of flashing a matching recovery to the update.pkg I'd copied to my SD card.
Since then I have a major problem. I can get into fastboot ok, and I seem to be able to flash recoveries etc but I am unable to get into ANY recovery when doing the volume down boot menu. I have tried factory reset's etc but all to no avail. All the recoveries I flash end up going to a blank screen with the lights on but never arrive at a menu - have I bricked my phone !!
Please, any help will be very gratefully received.
Power button and both volume buttons, all three together gets you into recovery menu.

Managed to sort it! Phew!!

Thanks for the reply, however it was not the menu I could not get to, instead, when I selected option 2 (update from update.pkg) the streak then went to a blank screen, dimmed the buttons and then froze.
I ended up fixing the problem by downloading the qdl recovery tool from http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Tools/repairtool.zip, unzipping it to my hard disk then installing the driver for the Qualcom modem and then running the repair. All sorted now - very relieved for sure
hey i have a similar kind of problem...can't access to fastboot mode...dell logo appears and then restarts by saying factory resetting...this continues again n again...is there any solution????
I was trying to flash the latest CWM recovery using the method from this post by nba1341.
Easiest way to install the latest CWM to internal memory (FOR 16GB USERS! Untested on 8gb):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640958&page=7
The command was successful but when I tried to Boot into internal emmc recovery using cyanoboot it didn't work. Then I normally booted into CM7 and did a reboot in the recovery from the power button menu.
That's when I got stuck at the silver n screen. I've tried booting from my recovery SD card by holding down the power + "n" key with the USB plugged in. I've remade the recovery card several times. I've used different cards. I'm kind of stuck as to what to do.
Does anyone know any other way I can recover my nook tablet?

usually boot from sd is done by having the NT off with the sdcard inside, and then plugging in the usb cable and it should boot from sd.
I did that several times. Nothing happens.

I got my first nook stuck at the same screen. Silver n, fades to black but the backlight stays on. I never did figure out how to fix it and ended up getting it warranty replaced. It wouldn't boot, so they couldn't see if there was any alternate files on there.

You can try to make a bootable CM7 SD card and see if you can boot into it. Power on from completely off state, with the power cable attached.
RESOLVED
I figured out my issue. I was using my phone as a microSD writer. I got a usb card reader to create my SD card and was able to boot off of the SD card. Thanks for everyone's help.
