[Q] Can't DL zip files w/ Root Explorer installed. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Root Explorer installed on my phone, but I get file not supported on this device error messages when I try to download zip files. Any idea why I can't do this with this files manager but I can with other file managers?

Maybe its not a supported feature? Astro and Linda have the ability. .. or maybe there is an option to enable it?

It has the ability to create and extract zip files, but I didn't know if it was a matter of having to create an extension or whatever to allow the phone to download zip files. I am using AndroZip until then.

Uget works most of the times. Be aware that checksums can turn out a little.. off.. sometimes; if you're downloading image files for example

[Q] rar files being downloaded as .bin

Whenever I download a rar file, it just shows up as a .bin on both the notification bar and in root explorer. Is there a setting I need to change to allow rar files tobe downloaded?

There's no reason why you would need to, usually just changing the extension works for me.
*note* there has to be something in front of the .bin for it to work in a lot of cases "randomname.bin" for example

You shouldn't even have to change the extension. I use unrar pro, point to the file using estrongs file explorer and it extracts the contents.

Is there an app to put files/folders into a zip or rar?

I have searched the Market and Google but cannot find the app I need.
Basically, I am looking for an app where I can put files and folders into a zip or rar file, and password protect them.
Does anyone know of such an app?
Thanks

Haven't used it for a long time but give a try to ES File Explorer.
Rot explorer will let you zip up files but I'm not sure about the password protect part.
Have you tried androzip?
Edit: I just checked and androzip will allow you to put a pw on zip files. Its free in the market as best as I can remember.

Solid Explorer works for me
As I said, Solid Explorer, works for me for "editing" flashable zips... As far as creating the zip file is concerned, you already know the procedure... Create an archive using any file manager, with compression set to "Normal"... Any compression level other than normal, you wouldn't be able to flash the zip file.
ok i will try solid fm... i tried zarchiver and es file manager but got aborted.. when im using pc i only drag the apk into the folder. so how about using phone? what i did is... extract the zip then i put the apk in the folder then compress it. i used fastest, normal, fast.. etc to make a zip then when its done i flash it but they all got aborted...
