Update: New release (RLS 5)
-Comes with 'rogue tools' for overclocking and setting display density will need an update over market to support nike, myn told me he will push it to the market during the next day or so)
-feels smoother, connectivity seems to be a lot better (I never had a faster browsing experiance on my nike than with this build and opera mini), rejoining network after lost signal also seems to be faster
-nice new weather/clock widget
-if you use installd version, the androidupdate.tar from rls4 is still necessary for powermanagement
Myn's new (16.03.2010) Donut android build runs quite smooth on nike! Finally a decent alternative to Ion on nike.
Get it from the vogue forums (SQSH version):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619980
Here is a link to the basefiles I am using:
http://84.23.71.227/kerneloftheday/RootfsBasefiles20100318.zip
The kernels are from dzo's branch with a few minor fixes (vibration, irq-wakeup, red led blinking when in sleep mode). Additionally the kernels should work with enabled HW3D in eclair with boot parameter hw3d.version=1 (not tested yet...).
HowToInstallInANutshell:
-delete old android files from sd
-extract basefiles to sdcard
-extract system.sqsh from myns package and copy to sd
-if you are on a nike100 make sure deafault.txt points at the kernel without vibration (included)
-otherwise default.txt should be fine, most parameters are ignored anyway.
-run haret
-be happy
Impressions:
-sleepmode 1 ok, wakes up, red led blinking. Battery life seems ok, but i only tested a few hours...
-very fast
-many locales, not just english like in good ol' ion
-quite stable net, nice apn autodetect (just had to select from two alternatives), working google stuff
-still not working: bt, incall volume, cam
So, give it a shot and leave your impreesions here!

********** UPDATE ************
Installation with the NoRootfs Method is now possible with working net and powermanagement. This gives us the possibility to use the Themes and the default font and everything else that can be provided via androidupdate.tar
See the Wiki for installation instructions. Make sure that you have the provided 'androidupdate.tar' (see attachment, file is in the zip archieve) in your andboot folder along with the androidinstall.tar when installing.
To install themes just copy them in you andboot folder (must be named androidupdate.tar), reboot into menu -> update (-> fix permissions).
PS: Doesn't seem to work with eclair builds, but could work with other donuts
PPS: This should also work with ext2, if someone tried successfully please let me know. €: Works with ext2
Additionally the kernels should work with enabled HW3D in eclair with boot parameter hw3d.version=1 (not tested yet...).

you've added hw3d support? I tried to do that - all that I got is 3D without textures or simply nothing - black screen. I did same as in this commit in repo.
I did the same. The only build i saw it working was aosp eclair for kaiser (gallery3d worked). Otherwise i got the same errors. I read that the other devices suffer from similar problems.
Ps: Writing this on myns donut. Everything stable so far.

Hi mblaster,
works like a charm here. Very fast and stable. This is the first ever Donut Build with stable working Data i've seen....
Only Point is, that icons are really very small. Seem to me even smaller than in the old Cupcake Releases with 320x480...
Tried higher settings for lcd.density, but screens don't fit than anymore.
Have you tried it with a non modded system Image ?

ECLAIR
because you are starting another section of the eclair?
already has almost no one accessing the other thread ...... I have a question there for two days and no one responds more ..
I am very impressed with the progress of the android in my eclair NIKI100 (20 keys)
is making calls, receiving messages, all volumes of the system are working (calls, music (I had to install another player why that came standard did not work), alarm etc. ..) I'm using it for three days, battery lasts long , it does not heat the unit, since I use it in everyday life.
now I have some questions for you:
is so difficult to operate the headphones?
I love listening to music, especially in the way of work, if possible, please someone do work ....
particularly hate wm, I think one day we niki users, we can get the WM and definitely use the android, (because you can try to do everything, are the gods of HTC ....).
another question, I can change the theme of the eclair? wanted it like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600154, it is possible??
I'm not charging, just begging! rsrsrsrs
Congratulations XDA....( GODS OF HTC)
Hi there,
together with mblaster's combination of basefiles in the first post of this Thread, the sqsh Version of the image in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591104 works also...
mblaster; seem's you've found/made the ultimate combination for Donut Images. PERFECT !

Theming with Metamorph
I been reading around on Vogue's thread and Metamorph catched my attention. It can style up android theme. Is this apps runs well on this build. I am confused because based on this site http://www.androlib.com/android.application.stericson-xda-metamorph-xnFD.aspx it can only run n Rooted phones. What is rooted phones anyway and can this run well in nike100 with the android build posted in this thread?
When is the nand version available? I think the only thing missing now in nike100 are camera and vibration features. Great job!
More Power!!!
Anyone encountered the "Half Size" icon problem ?
This is, when there's a reload of the Home Screen, all icons are suddenly half the size than normal. I had this after leaving the Browser.
Couldn't find a solution for that behaviour. Any ideas ?

You have to disable PIN in WinMobile afaik for all builds so far.
About wifi: The stickies say no wifi on nike. Never.
"never ever say never" ;DD
thanks anyway for Pin code tip.
Network problem
got two bugs here.
1. browsed from wm then switchd to android. i cannot connect anymore when in android. even if i reconfigure my apn.
2. switching from phon mode to airplane mode and airplane mode to phone mode will stuck in airplane mode.
@mblaster
how to enable apn autodetect?

First of all, good idea with the new wiki. Hope to add some things in the near future...
had the idea of creating system.sqsh files of all variants (Themes) of the original Vogue Thread. So i downloaded one of the androidupdate.tar files, und untared it "over" the files of the original ones in the androidinstall.tar file. Made an ext2 System and then a Squashfs System with genext2fs.
But no success....
Booting stucks obviously just before the Android Setup Wizzard should appear. Any Ideas ? Perhaps a permission problem ?

me again...
just got a flash in my brain...
probably a story about the rootfs because of different load types (NoRootFs vs. Classical sqsh File) ?
so what about mounting the original sqsh Image and untaring the update "over" the rootfs ? ...
@lagloose: Might be an issue because the androidupdate.tar files are made for norootfs. Perhaps its time to move on to an installed version without rootfs...
@ebautista: Sorry, but I do not maintain myn's build. Perhaps it would be a good idea to report bugs in myn's thread in the vogue forums. APN detection worked for me right out of the box. Do you use the basefils from this thread?
€: your brainflash was faster than my typing... but perhaps you should at laest try to set the right permissions, it might work
Hi all,
Just tested sqsh Image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628459. Not completely tested but seem to work also with our basefiles.
I'm working on a way to get themed Images for us Nike Users. Still some problems to solve, but shouldn't be that difficult...
As soon as i've found a way, i'll state it here.
Greetz, lagloose
I really would suggest to move on to NoRootFs for various reasons:
The theme packages are already available there
The basefiles are still supported and regularly updated, while SQSH is dying out, and as there are very few devs for nike we should try to profit from the progress made on other devices
There should be no drawbacks, just a few more MB on sd-card for the system
The installer for systems / updates is extremely useful (theming, installing your favourite apps in one shot ...)
Give it a try, you will find a little howto and links to ressources in the wiki
mblaster,
€: OK, I have good and bad news. The good news is that it seems like you can keep your datafile after switching to norootfs. The bad news is that sleep doesn't work anymore (same settings/build/kernel) -> The problem that prevents us from using more recent builds seems to exist inthe basefiles!!!
Basically thids leaves two possibilities: Either its in the part of the nonexistant rootfs that now is part of the system, or (my guess) it is in the initrd. At least it does not seem to be a problem with the kernel.

Unfortunately, i won't have the time to look after the problem in the next days. So for now we still have to use the SQSH files, until the problems are fixed...

I am quite sure now that the initrd is fine and the problem is in the Rootfs, or better what is left of it. The latest working basefiles include a Rootfs dated to 2009-11-16. There is a newer Rootfs on sourceforge (sometime in december 09) that shows the same problems (net/powermanagement/shutdown). As parts of the rootfs are included in the androidinstall.tar images, thos errors are still there. My update file (now included in post 1) overwrites those files with versions from the 11/16 rootfs. That leeds to a working system (with the new initrd).
Unfortunately the update is incompatible with the newer eclair builds that are around. Seems like they use another rootfs that rejects the old files...
Does anyone maintain a git repo of the rootfs? It would be interesting to patch the problem for good
Last night I was checking out Cyanogen's web site and I came across this:
Bluetooth Voice Commands Missing in CM6?
Hello,
One of the newer features that I liked so far in CM-6 was the ability to long press my bluetooth headset action button which resulted in a voice telling me to say a command. This was much better than the original phone voice dialer, which requires manual intervention to pick a number from its list of guesses after you speak, and which offers no voice prompt to let you know when it's ready.
Well, as of upgrading to CM-6.0 from the 8-25 nightly, the bluetooth/headset dialer is gone and when I long press my bluetooth headset button It's back to the old phone voice dialer which requires manual intervention to place a call and offers no voice prompt. How do I get the bluetooth dialer back?
I have attached the 09SEP-VoiceDialer.apk from CM-6 release for easy downloading.
***Instructions- Download the file into your root of your SD card, using Root Explorer remove the old VoiceDialer.apk and install the new 09SEP-VoiceDialer.apk
The OLD VoiceDialer.apk can be found under /system/app
Mine is working great!
Any questions, PM me....
Enjoy!
my bluetooth headset can now operate the voice commands, however, after a command is given, Voice Dialer FCs.

Did you remove the old VoiceDialer.apk?
Also, don't forget to change the permissions on the 09SEP-VoiceDialer.apk after yoo move it to /system/app.
This is working great for me, back to the way it was before the update!
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
so as far as the instructions:
***Instructions- Download the file into your root of your SD card, using Root Explorer remove the old VoiceDialer.apk and install the new 09SEP-VoiceDialer.apk
is install the new file is just copying it then pasting it into the system/app folder using root explorer, longpress on app and change permissions to allow all. then reboot.
EDIT: apparently yes, my bt headset works perfectly with voice dialer now. thank you.
This is great -- restores the BT voice dialing functionality that should have been stock in the Eris from the start
Is the source for this APK available? I wonder if it would be possible to modify to add an optional "confirmation" step:
User: "Call Jim Somename"
Phone: "Calling Jeff Someothername, is that correct?"
User: "No"
Could certainly be fancier, like presenting several options, but the above would be sufficient to prevent misdialing people you don't mean to call in other area codes, etc. That's my main hesitation to use it right now; my wife's name, in particular, seems to mismatch to other names often.
I haven't done much Android development yet, but I'd be interested in poking at this code.

I remove the old voicedialer. I copied over to system/app change the perms and reboot. when long pressing the bluetooth the dialer comes up but never prompts. I tried renaming the file. I tried just an install. that worked once but FC verytime after.
What am i doing wrong
Thanks for this
I can't believe that Google has worse technology than MS on this! MS Voice Command is far superior.
I tried vlingo with mixed results.
Will try this.
Just installed on my Aria running Liberated 2.2 and it works great!
BTW, I couldn't for the life of me delete the old VoiceDialer.apk using a file explorer, so I just took a shot and installed this Voice Dialer, so no real need as far as I can tell to go through the hassles of the instructions above.
Many thanks.

I realize that this is a bit of a dead post, but do you think this apk would work on a Samsung Captivate? I'm currently running with Perception 10.3 and Speedmod kernel, but for some reason the BT Voice Dialer has decided to stop working and is continually stuck at Starting Up.
I'm trying to get this to work on my Aria running FR0008 but no dice. Even using Root Explorer I simply cannot get either the original Dialer.apk deleted or the replacement 09SEPDialer.apk installed.
What am I doing wrong? I REALLY want the proper Bluetooth dialer in this ROM as I use a headset often and at the moment I prefer it to the Cyanogen ROMS.

Have you tried this? Download the 09Sep-VoiceDialer.apk to your computer. Rename it VoiceDialer.apk and place it in your tools directory of SDK. Connect your phone to PC. Open a command prompt window and navigate it to your tools directory of SDK. Type adb remount. Then type adb push VoiceDialer.apk /system/app. Then adb reboot. Be certain to take not to the caps in the file name as well so it will overwrite the one that's already in place on your phone. Hope this helps

Awesome, I'll try giving that a whirl later this evening. Thanks for the pointer.
So, I gotta be honest, I just simply do not have the technical know how to get this working. I've downloaded and installed all relevant files but can't even seem to get the phone connected.
Here's what I'd love to be able to do, simply replace the VoiceDialer.apk in the Aria FR008 ROM - which does not support Bluetooth voice dialing with this one that apparently does.
I have tried unzipping the FR008 ROM and replacing the file and rezipping. When I go to install it from card in recovery mode it immediatly crashes. I'm seeing that the FR008 zip is "signed" and guess that I'm missing doing something important here, resigning either the whole ROM or just the file?
Can anyone please help me out here as I'm really struggling with this.

Yeah... if you unzip it you will need to sign it when you zip it in order to flash it. Try opening to rom with 7zip or winrar and just drag and drop the new one into the zip to replace the old one. Don't unzip it.

This is just a {rootfs} just replace this on the androind folder and put on you sd card and boot from magdlr

question
What is this rootfs for?
in order to boot from MAGLDR
but theirs is a step or procces to install it beside the common way on installing a Nand rom?
This guy posted his rootfs.img as well on the 18th JAN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10702019&postcount=93
Anyhow, This is JUST THE ROOTFS.IMG. Not the whole SD BUILD.
Grab the SD build from the link above and just replace the ROOTFS.IMG with this one.
It's just like installing a SD Android BUILD, very basic.
But you should have MADLGR installed.
Can it boot from WM6.5? Thx.
For me dont work. After replace this in Android folder i take for half hour a white image with htc in and nothing else.

I have just installed MDJ HD v4.6 less than a week ago. ( Guess I am lucky ? )
Everything is working except internet via my "data plan". Using wifi mode, I can surf the net fine.
When I toggle back to my W.M 6.5 mode, wifi and "data plan" mode works fine.
I wanted to know if this is a known bug or there is something I forgot to turn on ?

This is not the build thread for this sd build, everybody. This was a thread someone made to share a modified rootfs.img so that you can boot this build with magldr. I believe all mdj's builds and threads have been removed from xda until he cooperates and shares his source code. He has violated GPL with his kernels.
Hi there,
I am new here and realize I first have to search the forum for the problem i encounter , I did that, could not find the exact problem.
One mentioned slow copying but it was resolved after someone advised him to use a 2.0 usb port.
But that's not the issue in my case
I installed latest paranoid android rom as the second rom in the dualboot option from siyah kernel.
I followed all the instructions to install it correctly.
When i connect phone to pc to copy file the pc hangs, that means, the program which is doing the copying hangs, (both total commander as well as windows file explorer) have to close it with task manager, then when I browse the phone I see the file i tried to copy is present with the original size, but its corrupted, its only size being reserved for the file.
It is not an usb port problem, because when i boot the phone to my first rom (simplistic disaster) i can copy files to the phone, and its fast.
anyone have this problem or know a solution i would be be grateful, because I like the rom, but if I cannot copy files to it it goes down the trunk.
yours sincerely
Ronald

Thanks for your response, I did not try that before allthough im pretty sure its not the solution, because if it were the case i would have the same problem with the other rom booted.
But to not make a fool out of myself i tried it anyway s, and like i anticipated: no problems with the sdcard, the problem also occurs when i copy to the internal sd card, so its most likely some combination of the paranoid android rom with other issues .
Hard to say anything wise... I would try to find answer in rom specific thread. Hope you will solve it. Good luck!

The 10 post rule is there to (hopefully) prevent people from posting random threads in development fora. Doesn't seem to help much though.
Hello
First, excuse for my english. I'm french, and like you know, we are the worst of the world in foreign language (thanks google Trad).
Two, thanks to this ROM, she's great, the best Rom i test since i've my SGII.
So, I'm here because i've a problem (surprised?). When i copy my music Folder (4,5Go), I've a first error message who tell that a sing have a wrong format (MP3). It's not really a problem, because I can ignore it and let the copy continue. But after that, I've a second error message for another file. This time, the message tell me that the phone not respond (sorry, I try to translate Win7, in french: "le périphérique ne répond plus") and i have to stop all the copy or ignore this file. If I ignore, I've the same problem for the following files, and all my folders are empty.
This problem appear with or not the debug mode.
Can you help me? Sorry if the question have been already ask, i've search all this afternoon (I live in Reunion Island, actually it's 5:00pm) and i don't find any answer.
Thanks a lot.

The problem you're having is normal at least for now, and I've experienced it many times.
These are my observations and how I've solved the issue in different occasions:
Observations:
- this issue occur randomly
- it's more common if your computer has been hibernated too many times without rebooting
- it's also common if an app on your phone is also trying to access your storage simultaneously.
Solutions:
- stop the copying process, and reconnect your device to the pc.
- reboot your Pc
- copy your files via Wi-Fi using apps - reboot to recovery, connect your phone to your Pc and mount your device as usb (under mount option in recovery) and copy your files.
Note:
-The solutions listed above are not dependent on each other, and one of them will sure get the job done till mass storage mode is fixed in the Rom.

Hello,
I try to connect my Gs this morning like you tell me. But it doesn't work.
Firts, i boot my PC after a good night. I re-boot my phone and after that i connect it to my PC.
The same error appear at the begining of the copy.
So, i try to mount my USB storage (i've no Wify to my job so i can't test this solution). The PC detect my phone (it was in the peripheral equipment, but the SD doesn't appear in the explorer.
I'll try to change the kernel, i would like to flash Siyah. If i'm lucky, maybe it will work. Which siyah's version is compatible with PARANOID. I maybe understand there a problem the beta6.

Sorry for not clarifying the kernel part.
I use Siyah and mounting usb in recovery works perfectly well.
Siyah 3.5.2 and above are compatible but I always recommend 4.0.1

SO i read now its a common problem with the rom , i did not find that information yet, I now using the cynogenmod 9 from july because i was hoping to solve the mass storgage issue and guess what, the same problem, so now i know its not paranoid android related but a cynogen mod issue.
I actually have a new problem since i have a new adsl modem, cyanogen mod does not have a wps option to connect to a wifi router, the modem i have wont connect with any android device the regulary way by typing the wep password wich worked fine with other devices like ps3,TV and a laptop, we have 3 android devices (2x s2 and 1x 10.1 tablet) and all only can connect with the wps option wich unfortunally is missing in cyanogen mod
But I dont see this as a rom problem, only as a missing feature.
Hey guys! New to register..not to forum. Sorry about such a long first post, but I try to be as clear as I can, so you guys get my problems! I'm not sure where to post this, but this looked pretty good to start! BTW...I REALLY have searched everywhere, INCLUDING the "Bible" but to no avail. 2 Important (to me anyway) Questions. 1...I have my Amaze Rooted...Unlocked and S-off. I'm using the "Energy ROM" and have changed the Bootanimatio.zip for video..and changed the Android_audio.mp3 for start up...works fine. I also liked the "Energy" shutdown screen (TV shutdown) so I left that. I then added (through .xml) a Down_Audio.mp3 file...WOW! That worked GREAT! Now problem 1... After S-off, I had to re-unlock HTC Bootloader..Done! Then had to re-flash "Energy ROM" ... no problem. When I went to re-install Bootanimatio.zip plus the audio, it worked fine, BUT NOW I can't get the Down_Audio.mp3 to work!?!?! I have check, re-checked, and triple checked the path and it SEEMS? Correct. I believe it's right, because when I change any parameter, the front Bootanimation.zip, or that audio doesn't work. WTF am I doing wrong?? The mp3 plays fine, and even if I rename it..it stills plays. It just seems not to be able to find the path...System/Customize/Resource/Down_audio.mp3.....Please HELP!
Thanks in advance guys!!
Nobody has experience with this??

Issue 2... The ONLY reason I stuck that wire in my phone was to be able to change that Dang splash screen! I've tried ALL of the downloads for this from this forum, but I keep getting error messages...Not Valid Command...Can't find path...path not valid...cant't find adb...can't find fastboot..plus others! These show up differently with every try..not all at the same time. I'm also not sure (see I do read!) How or if I need to flash a different Bootloader...I didn't when flashing "Energy". ANY help would be greatly appreciated from a long time viewer, and now member, of xda forums!!!!
Thanks in advance guys!!

1) You may want to try checking out your default.xml file (/system/customize/CID/default.xml).
Look under <ShutdownConfiguration> for the correct down audio name and location. If there is no audio="..." you may have to add that in"
Look at the <BootConfiguration> as an example
2) not real sure about this one.
Also, make a backup before editing any files, just in case something goes wrong you can always just restore to your previous spot.

Thanks for the reply! I did change the .xml files for both boot and shutdown..boot A/V still works fine. The first time I flashed the new ROM, I was able to add Audio="\ to the down sound and it worked...after re-flash is why it won't work again. Maybe I should re-flash the ROM..but I really hate have to recover everything all over again.
