Problem with gameboid- ROMs won't load... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Ok so I am having a problem with the gameboid app. I downloaded a bios file, and out of the 8 or so roms I downloaded, only one is working. When I tried to load the other ones, it said gba rom load failed, or something.
Anyone know why they won't load? Could it be I need a better bios file or would that make any difference at all? I don't think it could be that the roms just aren't supported, they're fairly popular games, like super mario advance and whatnot...
Thanks!

Could be a corrupt BIOS download? Try re-downloading the BIOS file, and then run it again.
Wouldn't a corrupt bios file mean none of the roms would work? One of the roms is working, but the rest all say failed. Anyone have that problem, if it is the bios file? Can anyone confirm that either redownloading the bios file, or getting a different one, would solve it?

Oh yeah, sorry my bad. I didn't see that bit!
You could try re-downloading I guess, it might make a difference. What does it say when you load the non-working ROMs?
It says "Load Rom failed. Please try another file." or something like that. so far only Pokemon Emerald worked out of like the other 8 roms I downloaded from CoolRom.com.
maybe I should try a different bios file. I'll try that and report back to see if that's the problem. I was hoping maybe someone was having the same problem, and tried a different bios file, and then it worked. If that happened to anyone, please could you post the site where you got the bios file from? Thanks!
Tried a different bios file, games still won't load, except for same one. Hmmmm.... anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? Or could it just be that the emulator isn't supporting these games? Should I try to download a different rom file for the games that aren't working?

Please Help
Ive tried everything to get the gameboid app to work. I dont know what to do, can you tell me exactly what you did to be able to play game boy advance games on your mytouch? I have the emulator i just dont know where exactly to put all of the files.
Well first, you should connect your phone to your PC, and make a folder for the games you have. Alternatively, you could download a file manager app from the market and use that to create a new folder.
Then, you need a gba bios file. You'll have to google that though. Once you found one, put it in the folder you created.
When you open the Gameboid app, you have to specify where the bios file is, so find it and select it. Then just search for where you put your ROM files, and select one, and you should be set. Keep in mind, you don't need to unzip the ROM files you download, just download, and put in the folder you created, that's it.
I am still having trouble though myself with the app. I don't know if it's my phone(mytouch slide), or the bios file I downloaded, or just the rom files I got, but alot of the games I tried didn't work. more than half of them actually. Can anyone confirm if they were able to play these games:
Classic NES - Super Mario Bros.
Castlevania - Circle of the Moon
Dragonball GT - Transformation
Mario Advanced 2 - Mario World
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Monster Rancher Advance 2
Shing Force - Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Three StoogesTy the Tasmanian Tiger 2
Those are the ones I have so far that don't work. A couple just go to a blank screen for a second, and then it goes back to the ROM select menu, without any kind of message popping up, and most just don't load or do anything, and say Load Rom failed. Please try another file.
should I contact the developer about this issue, and see if he's working on updating the gameboid to be more compatible?

Oh, and also, you can use the Gameboid app to search for ROM files(games), just open it up, and press the menu button on your phone, and either select Search Roms, or the Rom Buddy option.
I'm having this problem with my epic as well. i would love a solution for this. its making me miss my psp.
Hi ti everybody.
I have to say that I tryed a few games ( other games, but I'll take a look to the listed ones ) and they all work except for one: Pokèmon Emerald ( Italian version ).
I've downloaded my bios over here: ww.emuparadise.org/biosfiles/bios.html
If you cold send me or post a link to the bios you use, I'll test it.
My phone is an Xperia X8.
EDIT: Ok, I've tested your emerald & it works.
Games I've played & Work are:
-2 in 1 Uno & Skip Bo(EUR)
-Dragon Ball Advance(EUR)
-Pkmn Fire red (ITA ver)
Games that don't work for me are:
-Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (EUR)
So, I'm wondering if you did the same dumb thing I did. Are the games you are trying to play for the classic game boy or the gameboy advance. Many of the roms out there don't always separate them if you download them as one large file. The only game I wanted was Metroid II, greatest game ever made btw, and I was having a really hard time playing it.
Since it was an original game boy game, I couldn't use gamboid, I have to use Super GBC Lite and it worked immediately without the need of any bios file.
Hopefully it's that simple for you
has anyone figured out what the main problem is yet? I have tried a few different BIOS files and that hasn't fixed the problem for my atrix. I'm looking for those italian versions of pokemon now to see if they will work
Loading BIOS failed. The valid BIOS file must be specified in the settings
Loading BIOS failed. The valid BIOS file must be specified in the settings I Have This Message When I Choose My BIOS And Play A Game .
rom file was the problem
guys, if it happen that you can play only even one game, that only means that there is no problem with your bios file but the rom it self because the proof is you can play other rom so for those roms that you can't play I suggest that you look for a different rom provider like loveroms.com emuparadise.com roms4droid.com and many others.. hope this helps...

[GAME] "Let's Golf" Free from Gameloft
I found this over in the Nexus section. Gameloft is giving away "Let's Golf" for a limited time. Someone over in the Nexus One section uploaded the .apk because in order to get the game you needed to download/install something else. I'm not exactly sure if this is supposed to be free ONLY for Nexus users, so if it is, I guess this thread would be considered "warez" and should be closed. Here's this .apk... http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=361664&d=1279324137 Instructions... -Install the .apk -Enter Airplane mode (disables all data) -Install the game and launch it (Still don't enable data) -It will tell you to download the game's data, choose yes. -It will ask you to download with Wifi or 3G, choose Wifi.
Works just as described. Nice find
thanks! worked perfectly
Thanks! Downloading data now.
I followed the steps and everything was downloaded. But now when I open the game it goes blank and reverts back to the homepage. Any suggestions? *** Nevermind, I uninstalled and deleted all the downloaded files for Game Loft and reinstalled and it works like a charm. Good find!
Works like a charm! Its reminds me of one of my top "quick play" games for the PSP, Hot Shots Golf.
Awesome!! Thanks!

Does not work for me as well. Mail screen will load, but says it's not the original version of the game, than it boots me out.
Thanks ultra spike great post. I appreciate anything free. It works like a charm.

Working perfectly for me....thanks so much for the link!!!! Note: if you are getting the " it's not the original version of the game" message, go to your apps, uninstall it.....go back to first post and follow the directions and it'll worked perfectly
Don't have time to play it now but it installed perfectly for me. Thanks!
is this downloadable via the browser? Update: May have went the long way in doing this but I don't have my usb cable here at work. Downloaded to my pc, changed file extension to .zip. Attached in email and sent it to my gmail account. Download to phone and save attachment using astro file manager. Changed file extension to .apk. Don't know if its going to work but the icon changed to the picture of the game so I'm guessing it may have worked. I will see if it work when I connect to a wifi network later on today. Update: That above method works in you are on the go and do not have a usb cable available
Works completely fine as instructions shown. Downloaded, hooked it up via USB, APK on sdcard then unmount... used ASTRO to install.. airplane, open app, choosed wifi and done.

What ultra spikey said.... Copy link and email it to yourself.....and then open the email and link from your phone and it'll automatically download it Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
[Q]Does Gameboid work on KaosFroyo?
I have been trying to get Gameboid to work with my eris(KF V34). Does GB work with 2.2 ROMs? My problem is that I can select the BIOS file that you need and it says that that is connected, but nothing else will happen, also when I click on a game file(file.gba) it says that the file is not found. I have tried to find a way to contact the developer of GB, but no luck of finding how to contact him. Sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
worked fine for me
Doom for android help
So the doom project has been shut down because of copy right issues, what id like to know is how many people out there have a working version of this and would be willing to share it with me OR If anyone would be so kind to advice me how to install the game so it runs. I have a doom1.wad, prboom.wad and libdoom.so but I can't get the libdoom to install cos astrofile manager won't recognise the file type. And on the ' menu ' screen you get options to install wads and download them, I can't get it to not try to download stuff because there is nothing there to download as its all been removed cos of bloody copy right issues. Any help would be great thanks Sent from my X10i using XDA App
[Q] psx4droid
HI all, I've tried psx4droid recently, download the scph1001.bin and set it.. now , when I'm trying to open FF Tactics.img, the apps goes back into the home screen.. I've tried several ideas like : 1. unecm the file ( there's some error : "no header found, not ecm file) 2. convert it to eBoot.pbp using IceTea V1.3 after I convert it, I try to reopen it, and still the emulator is not working PS : I'm using Asus Transformer TF101 Tegra with honeycomb 3.1 Thx
I usually have best luck with .bin or .iso images. Also try the emulator FPSE its much better than psx4droid.
PSX4Droid basically doesn't work with anything Android 2.3 or newer from what I have tested. The developer also dropped support because he couldn't sell it anymore. Use FPSE instead.
oh i see, thank you for the information , I'll try moving to FPSE.
Problem with JBed (Java emulator) when trying to run a java game.....
I have a Live with walkman running gingerbread but I have installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 The thing is that when I try to run a java game with this app (JBed), the following message appears: "Prompt that the midlet is running out of memory". I tried with different games but none seems to work. Is it really working this app? (JBed) Because I can't run any java game on my phone and I want to do it. Please help.
Try to convert it to apk. For tutorials u can googling. Good luck... Sent from my GT-S5570 using Tapatalk 2

Click to collapse To the OP, this version of the app mentioned above does work. Strange though, I don't know why the other ones didn't. One thing though, why is landscape mode in JBed all glitchy? I finally found a game that matches the resolution of my phone exactly, or, it would, if it were in landscape mode. It's stuck in portrait mode, and now I can't see more than half the game. And when I turn my phone to enter landscape mode, the image looks all weird and glitchy. This wouldn't be a problem for me if I could somehow upscale a game with a smaller screen size, but I can't seem to do that either.
