I've tried installing TigerArcade (mame emulator) for my phone, but it's not available with my carrier/country.
So I downloaded it from an off-market site and tried installing with Root Explorer, only to get a parsing error. I had a similar error when manually installing apps with another installer in the past...
I don't like the annoying SDK/command prompt method of installing apps and I was hoping that someone could help me?
Are there any reputable installer apps that actually work? Can I somehow get the app I want to install somehow "signed" in order to install it?
I'm trying to track down the APK's for these apps to trace down an installation error (unknown reason -17) that I'm getting.
Any help would be appreciated.
I would love to get Urbanspoon on my NC, but I get the same -17 error when I try to install from the market. Does anyone have it working? I'm running rooted stock 1.1 by the way.
I get this error: Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES] when trying to install MIUIMusic2.3.9.apk [taken from here]. I don't care about the certificates, is there a way to force the installation?

No
You cant force install, but you can always sign the apk. Use APK Manager to sign it. If you dont know how to do it, google "apk manager sign apk" to learn how

Ok I'll look it up on my pc later.
So, if I sign the apk this way, if a previous version of the app (with the same app id) is installed and I try to update by installing the newly signed apk, I will get an error?
If so, is all I need to do, just remove the old version first?
Thanks
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app
edit: got it signed and installed!

In the Settings you need to enable installing apps from "unknown sources" if you are sideloading, as opposed to installing from the Market.

Hello everybody,
I'm sorry of maybe I'm not on the right section, but I need some help regarding an error when I try to install an apk.
First of all, the device is an android system fot my car that run on android 5.1
I want to install the app "Mercedes me adapter" but on the play store it show that is not compatible (even if on the description of the app is compatible starting from android 4.2).
So I tried to download the apk and install it, but I receive immediately the error "there was a problem parsing the package".
Is there any way to force the installation of this app?
Thanks
